Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 45: Another Sip in the Cup
Like I said, just as bullheaded as Pippin--though whether that's the Took in him or the Brandybuck, it's hard to say. Poor Berilac.

Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 44: A Hobbit Tale
AAAaaawww...
Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 43: A Trail to Lake Evendim
Have you ever done this anecdote as a story? If not, I'd love to see it fleshed out into one. Not that I'm hinting or anything, I wouldn't want to overwork you...
Author's reply
LOL, was just re-reading this for background, glanced at the reviews, and saw this. What a nice, light, story the fleshing out of this anecdote would make. Perhaps it'll come about. Thanks for the nudge!
Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 42: One Steward to Another
And Pippin's just as persistent in taking care of Merry as Merry ever has been of him...he's just sneakier about it...LOL!
Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 40: Miracles
Aww...Pip's so good on the comfort side of h/c. It's a shame he doesn't get to practice it more often. But now he's cured, so he'll have more of a turn at dishing out the TLC.
Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 39: Celebration
Yay!!! Pippin's back in fine form! Lovely, lovely, lovely! You know, you are so *good* with the joy after the angst! After all, as far as I'm concerned, that's the main point with angst, at least in longer stories. (In ficlets and vignettes I don't mind if it's unresolved, as I know that's only a little slice of time.) JRRT always built in little happy moments after the sorrowful and fearful ones; I'm so glad you follow his lead.
Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 38: ...the Tasting of the Pudding
You were such a stinker with the last chapter, LOL! But it makes sense that if the leg had been numb for so long that there would be a good deal of pain when it finally woke up. Poor Woodruff, she's going to be *so* confused... And Pippin's entrance--he does have a flair for the dramatic, doesn't he? *grin*
Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 37: The Proof is in...
Ahh, yes, I remember now...
Dreamflower · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 36: Out of Rope
Finally able to get back to this after several days. I love Merry's determination here. Your Merry is just as he ought to be, bullheaded as Pippin but in a less flamboyant, quieter way.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 35: Unraveling
And now the race begins to see if Sam makes it...(and I am just as antsy as if I didn't already know, LOL!) But I'm off to finish making supper now.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 34: Farewell to Gondor
You know, it's funny with our different takes on the Ent-draughts, that we come up with similar ideas about them in many ways. My idea is that the effects of the original Ent-draughts were permanent, and left the two hobbits with a permanent boost to their own natural healing processes and immune systems. You have them also with a permanent but different effect, accounted for by this draught being specially concocted. But with both of us, they are sort of miracle cures. Which of course is why the other two bottles had to be broken. Like miruvor, or the Elven draught used in "All That Glisters", the cure has to be rare and unreproduceable, or people would just be cured of everything, and the Ents would have no peace. Poor Sam, though. He's going to be so worried.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 33: Spring Picnic
And so we use our imaginations, and keep the G rating. Why doesn't everyone understand that principle? Well done.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 32: New Year's Celebration
I love the reminders of just how tiny a hobbit baby would be. And so lovely that he was born on The Birthday...
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 31: Journey to Gondor
Goodness, you'd think with all her previous experience, Rose would have realized--but then maybe not, if she thought she was going through menopause. Something nagged at me from the last chapter--Merry greets Bergil as though he has not seen him since growing up, yet it's only been ten years since "All That Glisters"--of course, maybe it's just that he's changed a bit, grown a mustache or beard or something.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 30: Departure
Well, I have to stop now and go run some errands. But this is just as engrossing now as it was the first time around. Can't wait to get back to it.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 29: Farewell
I'm trying to recall? Was Sam made aware of Aragorn's limitations during "All That Glisters"? Not that I can see that stopping him anyway...he'd always think maybe something new had come up in the intervening years...
Author's reply
You're right, of course, he did have quite the heart-to-heart with Strider in that story. But you're also right that he never quite gave up on Pippin and never lost faith in Strider's healing ability. He'd experienced it himself, and seen it in action enough times, that he keeps hanging on to hope. Maybe he even thinks Arwen might have a jewel tucked away like the one she gave Frodo... In any event, he's not one to sit on his thumbs when there's some kind of action to be taken. ((hugs)) to you.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 28: Postponement
Sam's determination to help Pippin is mostly, of course, from his own affection for him--but it's also because he's Frodo's dear cousin, and as he told Diamond--no Havens for him. I could imagine him thinking of having to tell Frodo of his cousin's end one day and deciding he wasn't about to have to do that.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 26: The Mayor Steps In
Your Sam is so perfectly lovely! You have him spot on in bits like this.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 25: Idle Talk
And I think the cousins'little conversation at the end was only half a joke. They *do* miss Gondor and Rohan and their friends there...
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 24: Picnic by the Spring
Yes, I think when they are reminiscing the Quest, the parts they like to remember are those early days in Hollin, before Caradhras, before Moria, when all the Nine Walkers were together, and beginning to forge a lasting friendship... I'm glad that Sam clued Merry in, and they've made it right. But I still think "ridiculous Tooks" who can't understand a cousin's heart...
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 23: Heart to Heart Talk
As well he might feel free: a respite from the Smials with his two best friends, with whom he hardly ever gets to spend time any more... This is lovely for all three of them.
Dreamflower · 21 January 2005 · Chapter 21: The Steward and the Mayor
I had forgotten that at this point in time, Regi wouldn't yet quite understand the relationship Sam and Pippin had. Good thing Sam has a lot of patience.
Dreamflower · 20 January 2005 · Chapter 20: Thain of the Shire
This chapter left me grinning like an idiot, even though I remembered how it went. Lovely, just lovely! I'm going to have to leave off for a while, but I am really, really enjoying re-reading this.
Dreamflower · 20 January 2005 · Chapter 19: Tying a Knot
I remember the Trouble Stick! I'm sure given enough time they could have thought of several more uses: if he gets lost, he can draw a map on the ground with it, he could tie a string on the end for a fishing pole, he could use it to knock apples out of a tree...
Dreamflower · 20 January 2005 · Chapter 17: Making Plans
Oh yay! I was waiting for Sam and Rosie to pop up! This is turning into almost as much a conspiracy as the original one.
