Pearl Took · 26 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

Beautifully adorable! I love how Frodo can see the expressions on Errol's face. Really, Merry needs to get a life . . . Thank you so much, GW! :-)

Author's reply

Thank you! Hope you had a lovely holiday!

Pearl Took · 26 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

Poor Pippin! He didn't tell on Merry to folks who would tease him unmercifully. A very cute story :-)

Author's reply

Ah, but when Merry tells then Pippin will tell and so Merry is actually risking his own reputation by writing the letter. The question is, will he send it or will he just pretend to do so? LOL

pathvain_aelien · 26 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

“Merry,” Pippin said patiently. “Stuffed rabbits don’t have any money. Errol doesn’t give Yule gifts. He’s a stuffed rabbit.” Pippin sighed and gave Frodo a knowing look. Ah, I love the duo of Pippin and Errol. :)

Author's reply

Pippin and Errol are quite a force when they want to be. So glad you enjoyed it and thank you for reviewing!

Baggins Babe · 25 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

This is priceless! I love that Frodo comes out on top for once - usually Merry and Pip tie him up in knots but he was prepared this time. He was certainly enjoying watching Merry sqirm on this occasion! Merry Christmas, GW!

Author's reply

I did think it was Frodo's turn to win one of these encounters. I owed him in a very big way. Besides I like letting Merry have a turn in the hot seat. LOL Hope you had a lovely holiday and Happy New Year to you!

Larner · 24 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

Ah, our beloved Errol and his preferences--and Merry's ability to think on his feet! Silly Merry--he ought to know that Errol doesn't eat jam! Heh! Excellent save on all sides.

Author's reply

Yes, Errol's love of jam is a misconception in this case. On the other hand one can hardly blame Merry since Errol, through no fault of his own, seems to wind up with jam in his fur quite often. hehehe

Andrea · 24 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

“But what did he get Frodo for Yule?” “Merry,” Pippin said patiently. “Stuffed rabbits don’t have any money. Errol doesn’t give Yule gifts. He’s a stuffed rabbit.” LOL!!! As always Pippin's logic is just wonderful and very persuasive. Merry should know that it is hopeless to argue with the little Took. But he's Merry, and he loves to argue ;-) Anyway, I'm quite sure Frodo enjoyed *your* gift as much as Errol enjoyed his!

Author's reply

Yes, it is pointless to try and win against logic like that. I do hope Frodo enjoyed this one. He came off looking very clever in this and I did owe him for past torture. Thanks for reading and I hope your holiday was a happy one!

Maaya · 24 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

Why is it that *Merry* feels like the irrational one in this chapter? :) Either way, I love this.

Author's reply

Funny how that happens, isn't it? If there is only one rational person in the room then often they do look irrational. Merry was in the wrong place at the wrong time. LOL Glad you enjoyed this one and happy holidays to you!

Lindelea · 24 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

You won't believe it, but this is the first "Errol" story I've read. I've seen lots of references to him, but never met him in person. He has lovely manners, and is so eloquent and polite. I can't help but think he's a good influence on Pippin. *g*

Author's reply

Errol is something of a surprise to me. He was a tiny mention in a little fiction called "Merry's Doorway" that was posted to Brandybuck and Took ages ago and he was not supposed to wind up finding his way into so many of these little stories. But like many plot bunnies Errol keeps turning up. He can be polite and eloquent but he is also sneaky! hehehe

Dreamflower · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

Frodo really is a wise hobbit. And I think that if he only knew Errol's true history, he'd realize it's not a trick of the light or the way Pippin's holding him that makes Errol look so knowing. He's just lacking a crucial piece of evidence. Merry on the other hand, doesn't really *want* to know--even though I've a hunch he suspects what he doesn't want to admit! *grin* Good old Errol. And I think Pippin made the right decision about the jam--no need to hurt Merry's feelings...*snerk*

Author's reply

It's always best to eat the jam and say nothing. LOL Hope you had a great holiday and Happy New Year to you!

PIppinfan1988 · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

*gasping for air* that was great. the banter between Frodo and Merry was absolutely priceless. I loved it! Pippin was adorable accompanied by the bit of mischief thought at the end. Brilliant, awesome, and very well done! Thanks for the laughs -- as always, I needed it.

Author's reply

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. For once I let Frodo win out. Merry and Pippin usually best him but this time Merry was the one coming up short. I told someone that this was my Yule gift to Frodo. Catch your breath and have a very happy holiday!

PIppinfan1988 · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

Oh, my gosh!!!! This is HILARIOUS and I'm not even halfway through it yet!!! I'm sitting here laughing my arse off! I thought to start here and work my way backwards. :-) I'll read some more and get back to you when I'm done. ;-)

Author's reply

I get a review for half of it? This is excellent! And you're laughing so that's even better. Read it backwards, sideways, or upside down. Any way you like it. LOL

shirebound · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 8: A Gift For Errol

“What did Errol get Frodo then?” Merry challenged. Pippin frowned. “Merry, Errol is a stuffed rabbit.” Poor Merry will never win! But he'll keep on trying, won't he? And I'll never tire of these stories, GW. Thank you for such lovely Yule gifts.

Author's reply

This time Frodo came out on the winning side and Merry was at a complete loss. I owed Frodo for all of the times I've let him come up against both Merry and Pippin. In a way, this was my Yule gift to Frodo. hehehe Errol will be glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for reading and Happy Hobbit-days to you!

pathvain_aelien · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

It's not Christmas without a nice Hobbity story! I enjoyed yours very much, as usual. Happy Holidays!

Author's reply

Happy Holidays to you too. I just posted another one with Errol in it. He insisted. LOL

Lindelea · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

Scandalous! (er, I mean, very funny) “Why don’t you ever recall anything about me that isn’t embarrassing?” Poor lad! Of course, everyone knows that there are those who live in the wilds of Buckland who wear boots. It's part of the charm oddness. It's certainly a mercy that they took themselves off to Buckland in the first place, and left the mainland of the Shire to more civilised folk. *g* Will sliders become all the fashion, do you think?

Author's reply

It is scandalous isn't it? I can see Merry at his desk at Master of Buckland and no one knows that behind the desk, the Master is wearing slippers! I do think Pip suffers from being the youngest. He doesn't always recall the embarrassing things that happened to Merry and Frodo. I think that may be their only hope in fact! Yes, those Marish folk and their footwear. Scary. If Sliders, er, slippers catch on then someone very enterprising hobbit is going to have to open a shoe shop! Happy Holidays! Author Reply: The whole event was scandalous, wasn't it? If the sliders, er, slippers catch on then some enterprising young hobbit is going to have to open a shoe shop! Think of the money in such a new and thriving business! LOL Happy Holidays! See you in 2008!

Larner · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

Ooh! Evil! He's got Pippin now! Ornery Merry!

Author's reply

Yes, Pippin got caught wearing the strange improper footwear. hehehe Happy Yule!

Dreamflower · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

OMG! GW, you are *so* evol! Turning those poor hobbits into--into--into *looks around shiftily*whispers* "slipper-wearers"! *gasp* Why--what if future generations of hobbits ever discovered that their Master and their Thain ever did anything so--so--disgraceful! Why, slippers! That's worse than--*whispers again* Adventures! And they barely lived that down! Why, poor Miss Dora would be spinning in her grave!! *snicker*grin*smirk*

Author's reply

See, I blame the entire thing on Eowyn. She's the one that infiltrated the Shire with footwear. I think she meant to do it so she could open a shoe store there and make tons of money selling slippers! Or, maybe it was me... I do love shoes. I don't think we should tell Miss Dora about any of this! Happy Holidays!

Golden · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

*LOL* This story is absolutly hilarious! Every bit of it! AND now there are some more stories that I would really like to read. Like the story when wee Pippin wanted that shoe....and a story about those situations after the Quest, where Pippin wanted to seem proper, which amused Merry and Frodo ...and how the story continues when Pip wakes up and what his sisters say. *G* What? You put all of those story hints inside there. Isn´t that there natural, that one might want to read those stories? *G* Have a Merry Christmas! :) Golden

Author's reply

You always find plot bunnies! Always! Very sneaky. I did mention that shoe once in another fiction of mine. Pippin mentions it to Otho in "Hide and Seek with Otho" in my Bagggins' series of stories. Pippin tells Otho, ("The big folk wear shoes and so it would be funny for a hobbit to look like an old shoe, wouldn't it? I saw one once. The nice hobbit that runs the junk shop had it. He said that there were supposed to be two of them but he only had the one. I wanted to buy it but Merry said that it was smelly and that I couldn’t have it.”") For some reason I mention this now and again but I haven't yet written it. I need to take Pip back to the junk shop. Happy Holidays and thank you for reading!

Andrea · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

“She was probably using up her bits and pieces,” Pippin said chewing his biscuit. “Using up her what?” Merry asked. ROTFL!!! Great story, G.W.! Will Pippin ever learn to think before he speaks? But Merry got his revenge in the end! I wonder what his sisters' reactions will be! Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family :)

Author's reply

I don't think Pippin will EVER learn to think before he speaks. LOL So glad you enjoyed this and I hope you have a very happy holiday!

shirebound · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

“Why don’t you ever recall anything about me that isn’t embarrassing?” Pippin winced. “It isn’t my fault,” Merry said. “You were an embarrassing little child. Heee, this is a fun story. I suspect that Eowyn will be supplying certain Shire inhabitants (and their future children) with lovely slippers for many years to come.

Author's reply

Eowyn may just make some money on this if she plays her cards right. This could be a trend. No, wait, these are hobbits! LOL Happy Holidays!

Neilia · 23 December 2007 · Chapter 7: On The Other Foot

Hahahahaha! Merry, you are a brat! *giggle* This is a great Yule fiction. Yep, a keeper. It didn't take Pippin long to find out the merits of 'warm' slippers. :)

Author's reply

you gotta love slippers! It may not be proper hobbit attire but Merry is something of a trend setter. Maybe he can convince others. He convinced Pippin. LOL Happy holidays to you and thank you for reading!

Larner · 14 December 2007 · Chapter 6: Divide and Conquer

No stars that night, but laughter and beauty anyway, in spite of the weather. Bless young cousins who climb trees!

Author's reply

I only wish we'd get a big snow storm here. I do love snow. This story started with the image in my head of Pippin falling out of the tree and landing at Merry and Frodo's feet. That's all I had until I started typing. I love when that happens. Thanks for reading!

Larner · 14 December 2007 · Chapter 5: When In Buckland...

Ah, I love this, GW! Nah, doesn't have the stones for it, does he? HEHEHEHEHE!

Author's reply

Glad you liked it! I just had to use that line in it. Sometimes I get in a rather wicked mood. hehehe

Hai Took · 10 December 2007 · Chapter 5: When In Buckland...

lol, that was great! Poor Pippin, thinking he had ruined Yule. It was quite amusing though and I laughed right along with Merry as the story finally came out. My grandparents always do those lumenaries (sp?). They live in a coldesac and we always place them around the entire block. It sure is pretty! Thanks for the laugh!

Author's reply

Those are great decorations when they are set up correctly. I'll just bet that the decorations at your grandparent's home are beautiful. Perhaps your grandparents could teach Merry and Pippin how to decorate? LOL Thanks so much for reviewing and have a very merry holiday!

Dreamflower · 2 December 2007 · Chapter 6: Divide and Conquer

GW, that was absolutely wonderful! So much fun, and so true. You really capture the cousins beautifully!

Author's reply

Thank you! This one was just a bit of winter fun. I could see Pippin leaping out of the tree and surprising them but I wasn't certain what was going to happen next until I started writing! Thank you for the lovely review!

Andrea · 2 December 2007 · Chapter 6: Divide and Conquer

Well, I don't know where harrowcat lives, but the weather here in Germany is exactly the same. Although, I would call it a storm. It nearly cost me my umbrella ;-) Now, Frodo's battle plan was excellent! “I have no principles,” Merry said pushing past Frodo and hurrying into the smial. Shivering, Pippin looked at Frodo for a moment and then he said, “I have principles but I’ll trade them for tea and crumpets and maybe a hot bath?” LOL!!! That's absolutely Merry and Pippin! Just great! And I loved how Pippin described the snowflakes as little stars!

Author's reply

It's raining here in WV too! Looks like we all have rain now. I think Frodo had to be very clever when dealing with Merry and Pippin. Frodo is always clever though. So glad you enjoyed it and I hope your weather changes for the better!
