PSW · 7 December 2015 · Chapter 13: Rescue

Poor Merry! At least he won't remember... And the bad guy is free once again. *shakes head* Interesting little foray here... :-) Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

Thank you! This was a fun detour for me (and them!).

PSW · 7 December 2015 · Chapter 12: A Mighty Gift

Ooo...good for Boromir...

Author's reply

Three cheers for Boromir! I loved writing about him in this story.

PSW · 7 December 2015 · Chapter 10: Perilous Plans

Perilous plans, indeed! Not sure what I think of this scheme -- we'll have to see how it goes...

Author's reply

Eeee, the suspense! *bites nails*

PSW · 7 December 2015 · Chapter 8: Traps and Treachery

Well, darn. Frodo's never going to get back on his feet -- fevers and arrows and Rings, oh my! :-)

PSW · 7 December 2015 · Chapter 7: Unsettling Events

So Merry's wandered off (didn't they just decide they were going to have to keep an eye on him?), and Boromir's seeing things (hopefully Gandalf and Gimli are a match for him). Everything's falling apart around them!

PSW · 6 December 2015 · Chapter 5: The Mind of Saruman

And the plot thickens... It's been fun picking up the bits of LOTR and Lost canon and seeing how you tie them together! So random, but I'm enjoying it... :-)

Author's reply

This was such a random story! I remember how challenging it was to weave two canons (and my own ideas) together.

PSW · 6 December 2015 · Chapter 3: A Fellowship Forms

Uh oh...that'll be trouble...

PSW · 6 December 2015 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

So, wow. It's been a long time since I've seen Lost, especially season 1... :-) Should be interesting to see how this progresses...

Queen Galadriel · 26 March 2009 · Chapter 13: Rescue

Wow! I've never seen Lost, but this was a truly fascinating and unique read. Yes, I'm just going to wink broadly at a plane in Middle-earth (heheheheheheh, now I want to know how the flight was going *before* they crashed...considering that the Hobbits hate heights...). I love that you were able to almost completely uproot these familiar people and set them down in a totally new setting and yet keep them in character, and there weren't terribly great changes in their relationships. Love also that Boromir had the chance to redeem himself in this story...poor Boromir. And I love Pippin's artwork, LOL! Too bad Saruman got away. But can we assume that out of this comes the quest not very different from the one we know well? Except that Boromir might survive? And if there are airplanes...what other machines will Saruman turn to his purposes? This really does make one want a sequel, you know. :D Excellently done, congrats!

Author's reply

Oh my, thank you very much! This is truly one of the most unique stories I ever wrote. It was a challenge to base it on a TV show in progress, keep it as canon as possible, and yet still make it suspenseful. I'm very happy you liked it. *hugs you*

Endaewen · 21 January 2009 · Chapter 13: Rescue

I can't believe I hadn't read this one before. Talk about a good story! Thanks for taking the time to write and post this.

Author's reply

Thank you! This was a most unusual -- and fun -- story to write. I wish future seasons of "Lost" had inspired me as much as the first one, though.

Hobbitgirl · 18 January 2006 · Chapter 13: Rescue

Dear Shirebound, I remembered seeing this maybe a year ago, but since I hadn't seen "Lost" back then I skipped it and instead read your other stories(You're one of my absolute favorite authors here, by the way!). But recently my family and I have been renting the DVDs of Season 1; they;re so addicting! Then I remembered that you'd written a mix of LotR and Lost, so I've been reading it with great enjoyment! I tend to be quite a Frodo angst fan, and you didn't dissapoint there. ;) I like how Aragorn said to Boromir, "Be at peace, son of Gondor" just in calm conversation, ominously forshadowing his death scene. :D And I loved Gimli playing chess with Pippin and how he was a bit like John Lock; his hunting the boar, and then Boramir's thoughts that the spear "could have skewered a wild boar" was pure genieus. :D Bravo! 'Course, Merry's being like Charlie was always interesting, and I kept almost laughing at Aragorn's simmalarities to Jack. ;D You did a great job of keeping both stories' ellements present and working it into a compelling plot. You're an inspiration to me, and I hope you don't stop writing great fanfics! :) In the Lion's paws, ~Hobbitgirl~

Author's reply

Thank you, Hobbitgirl! "The Island" was such fun to write; it was a real challenge weaving together LOTR, "Lost", and my own storyline. I have *no* intention to stop writing fanfics. I love LOTR more than ever, and just keep finding myself needing to write down new ideas. I truly appreciate you taking the time to let me know you're enjoying my stories. I love writing and sharing them. :D

Galidea · 14 April 2005 · Chapter 13: Rescue

Wunnerful, wunnerful! I just love this story! You do everything so well! I love it! But, I thought elves couldn't grow beards, or maybe all of the elves except Cirdan shave? It's another mystery! Again I want to say how much I enjoyed your story and I look forward to next week wednsday so that I can see the 2 hr. season finale and know that you are also watching it. I look forward to anymore stories that you may and hopefully will write, as I will be amonng the first to R and R. Until the next time, May the stars Smile on you and the wind always be at your back! Galidea ;D

Author's reply

It's a good question about the beards! (In ROTK, Cirdan is described as bearded.) Thank you for your lovely reviews, may the finale of "Lost" be mind-bending, and new stories are just around the corner! :D

Galimeril · 14 April 2005 · Chapter 12: A Mighty Gift

Thanks for the hug, I needed them. I'm so sorry for reviewing late, I missed the last update! I can't wait to move on to the enext chapter so I'll write a linger review there to make up for the short one!

Mysterious Jedi · 13 April 2005 · Chapter 13: Rescue

Sad as I am to see this over, I hope it means there will be a new project from you soon? :) Saved from Sin Through Christ, <>< MJ

Author's reply

You know me! Always another story percolating... Thank you. :D

Pearl Took · 13 April 2005 · Chapter 13: Rescue

Wonderful!!!!! A marvelous ending to a wonderful tale :) :) Most excellent and very well done . . . thank you :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Pearl. It wasn't easy figuring out how to end such an unusual story!

mirthor · 13 April 2005 · Chapter 13: Rescue

This was great, but...I was hoping it'd be much longer & more involved. Any chance for a sequel? I loved this one.

Author's reply

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't tend to write extremely long stories, but if the sequel-muse ever bites, I'll certainly pursue it! :D

Daynawayna · 13 April 2005 · Chapter 13: Rescue

Wheeeee! what a ride, shirebound! I love Boromir's honor! He's done Faramir proud! :) GREAT story, wonderful characters and fabulous plot! Poor Merry, being used like that tho'! :( I'm sorry to see it end... hurry up and start another one! LOL! :)

Author's reply

Wow, thank you so much! I have a new story churning in my fevered brain already. :D

Mysterious Jedi · 4 April 2005 · Chapter 12: A Mighty Gift

For a second I thought Boromir had fallen for it! Excellent chapter, as I have come to expect from you.

Starfire_Moonlight · 4 April 2005 · Chapter 12: A Mighty Gift

Ya!!! They finally caught him! But the question is, what are they going to do to old Saruman? Can't wait till more!!! :D

Hobbit_luvr · 4 April 2005 · Chapter 12: A Mighty Gift

Yay, good for happy endings! Yay for Boromir! I was frightened that he'd fall for Sarumon's trap for a second there! Awesome chapter, got me on the edge of my seat for the next.

mirthor · 4 April 2005 · Chapter 12: A Mighty Gift

Good chapter. I'm relieved you didn't let Boromir succumb to 'Denethor', it would have been entirely too predictable. But, what now? Surely a wizard can find a way out of a pit? I'm intrigued as to what you'll do here.

Pearl Took · 28 March 2005 · Chapter 11: Frodo's Choice

This is continuing to be so cool!! I love how you are portraying Boromir (I know, I've said that before, but I mean it :) ) You are weaving a wonderful mysterious tale.

good_one_pip · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 3: A Fellowship Forms

What would have happened had the Fellowship been formed under other circumstances? Or what if some character's roles had been switched with others? You have obviously thought about this and are portraying it wonderfully in your story. Merry finding the Palantir...a most interesting thought. One question, separate from the rest of my review. Is there going to be a creature anything like Ethan on your island. PLEASE don't let anyone get hanged especially not Merry or Pippin!!! Seeing that one Lost episode with Charlie's near death experience from hanging...I shudder to think about it. That was one of the most disturbing things I've ever watched!

good_one_pip · 27 March 2005 · Chapter 2: Dark Magic

I'm a complete and total LOTR and Lost fan, so I call this story, quite simply, BRILLIANT! ;) I can't believe no one's thought of this before. It's kind of humorous to hear Middle-Earth characters talking about riding a plane. I can't wait to see how you develope characters. Keep writing!

Mysterious Jedi · 22 March 2005 · Chapter 11: Frodo's Choice

Wow, wasn't expecting that!!! Nice twist.
