Lirenel · 22 October 2005 · Chapter 11: Boromir Speaks (Boromir)

Wow, great poem! I can feel Boromir's grief in these words. Wonderful.

Author's reply

Thank you my dear! One of my favorite moments is when Boromir turns around and looks at his brother for the last time, not knowing he isn't coming back *sniff*

Farawyn · 22 October 2005 · Chapter 33: How Do I Tell Him? (Frodo)

Hey there! Me again. We moved to a teeny tiny town in WI called Eau Claire. Never heard of it? Not surprised. It rained all the while we were unloading, then we lost the key to the house and had to use the old hairpin trick that (very surprisingly) worked. Stressful? Not at all ...*note sarcasm*. Well, nothing more to chatter off about. Actually, one more thing -- whose perspective is this from?? Love you lots... Farawyn

Author's reply

Wisconsin, eh? Beer, cheese, and sausage--sounds like a winner...unless you're watching your figure, of course *g* Ah well, be glad the moving is over and done with...been there, done that, hope I don't have to go there and do it ever again! Moving sucks! Perspective? Frodo's...thought that was pretty obvious, if only from the last verse.......psssst, the story is finished too (remember that one?;)) Glad you're back, I was getting worried about you...yes, really! luvyaback, Armariel~~~{~@

harrowcat · 22 October 2005 · Chapter 33: How Do I Tell Him? (Frodo)

Oh! Wow!

Author's reply

Glad you like, thank you:):):):):):):):) ~~~{~@

Larner · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 20: Haven (Aragorn)

Aragorn calling Faramir awake?

Author's reply

oh yes.....one beautiful man calling another *g*

Larner · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 17: A Morning of Pale Spring (Faramir)

I see I didn't review this one before. Love it very much. Good look at how Faramir and Eowyn came to accept one another.

Author's reply

Whoa, I think maybe I've got too many poems in this collection, I keep missing reviews...maybe it's time to start "Voices of Middle-Earth, Volume II" or something? Thanks--what I wouldn't give to hear David Wenham read it aloud, in that mellifluous voice of his *shiver* xoxx ~~~{~@

Linda Hoyland · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 21: Faramir's Awakening (Faramir)

This was very moving.

Author's reply

Thank you! Glad it works for you. ~~~{~@

Linda Hoyland · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 1: Upon Meeting Arwen (Aragorn)

Just beautiful !I love the atmosphere. This reminds me of "Tristan und Isolde"

Author's reply

Why, thank you! Wow! The story or the music? *g* I always like to work a lot on atmosphere, even in poetry. Maybe it's the frustrated interior decorator in me;<) Thanks for reviewing! ~~~{~@

Larner · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 11: Boromir Speaks (Boromir)

Rereading this one. So true to Boromir's nature. I hear it in Sean Bean's voice, of course; and see it as Boromir's tribute to the one who must eventually fill the place intended for himself. Thanks.

Author's reply

Sean Bean has a great voice...his eyes aren't bad either *g* Whoever did the casting in the movie must have been an eye person, gorgeous eyes all over the place.....ahem..... I guess I'm not alone in considering the movie Boromir to be a vast improvement over the book one. Didn't like him that much in the book, loved him in the movie! I love it when people re-read my stuff! xoxx Armariel~~~{~@

Larner · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 10: Brego (Brego)

Lovely indeed. Nice movie-verse moment. And good imagery from Brego's point of view.

Author's reply

Thank you! Want to do Shadowfax someday, love that horse...lol I think I was somewhat influenced by American Indian poetry here.......

Farawyn · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 33: How Do I Tell Him? (Frodo)

Iiiiiiiiiiiiii'mmmm baaaaaaaaack! Miss me? Move went good, but I'm just heading out the door. Ttyl and love ya, Wyn

Author's reply

Wheeeeeeeeee!!!!! Yes, missed you A LOT--thought you might have gotten lost on the way! So where did you move to? Do you like it? Tell me the gory details when you get time. Back atcha, RoZ aka Armariel~~~{~@

Larner · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 2: If This Be a Dream (Arwen)

A good dream, indeed. The waking of the lover within the Evenstar.

Author's reply

I was almost afraid to include this one, thinking it was a little too racy, or verging on it.....then told myself, "and that is a problem HOW?" *g*

Larner · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 18: Wings (Frodo)

I remember reading this before, but don't remember if I reviewed it then. I used to be afraid of reviewing. This is so poignant. Thanks for this one, too.

Author's reply

You did, and I saved the comments when I moved the piece into this collection. This is one of my own favorites too. The idea jumped at me when on a message board someone mentioned Boromir's absence from the reunion of the Fellowship in the movie, and I thought, what if maybe his ghost was there? There could be a story in that, or a poem, or maybe a piece that's a little of both...Strange how these ideas just creep up, isn't it? Thanks yet again! I value your comments immensely!

Larner · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 33: How Do I Tell Him? (Frodo)

Oh, this is SO much in keeping with my understanding of the relationship between Frodo and Sam. The hope of following is granted Sam, the one thing to sustain him during the living years. Thanks so much for this one, Armariel. This is superb.

Author's reply

Oh thanks...this one sneaked up on me late last night, and I could hardly wait to get it down on--I was about to say paper...well, get it down. (should start carrying a notebook around with me again like I used to before I became a computer nut) I was afraid it wasn't one of my best...well, I still think it isn't, but it was heartfelt, and I'm glad it works for you. That makes me feel all glowy inside! xoxx Armariel~~~{~@

Larner · 21 October 2005 · Chapter 19: Elegy for Boromir (Aragorn)

A wonderful tribute from what I'm certain is Aragorn's pov. Lovely and powerful imagery here.

Author's reply

Yes, Aragorn's pov. Love 'em both! *forcefully controlling wicked thoughts* But seriously...I always found it so poignant that these two men who should have been friends had to find themselves divided by such a seemingly small thing, and wanted to write about it for a long time. I've seen that sort of thing happen all too often in real life, to myself as well. Thanks bunches! ~~~{~@

Farawyn · 3 September 2005 · Chapter 32: Elrond's Farewell (Elrond)

My hair is a very yellowy blonde with tons of highlights.

Author's reply

I'd been picturing you as a blonde, somehow...in a good way;) (hey, I was a blonde when I was younger *g*) OK, here's the surprise.... 4Farawyn If you can't click on it, paste this into your browser: http://delroz.bravepages.com/elves/4farawyn.jpg Hopes you likes it! I'll have a little thingy for you later on (you'll see why I asked for your haircolor;)) xoxox Armariel~~~{~@

Farawyn · 2 September 2005 · Chapter 32: Elrond's Farewell (Elrond)

Well...........?? You have me bursting with curiosity! What exactly is my surprise? Oh, no... I'm not excited at all! *halo* Wait... are you all okay, with Hurricane Katrina, I mean? Gosh, now I'm worried about you.... reply soon, I want to know how you are! Hope your all right, 'Mariel. *anxious face* Your worried Farawyn

Author's reply

Welllllll, if I told you it wouldn't be a surprise, what? lol Sorry to be slow with it, but some things got in the way--a close friend had a birthday today, which I'd almost forgotten about, shame on me, and I had to make HER a surprise, and some RL (Real Life) stuff as well! (nothing major, just pesky) So hopefully I'll get to it by tomorrow! It's just a trifle really, but I think you'll like it.....*g* I'm fine Dearheart, I'm nowhere near the hurricane! All we got was a little rain which cooled things off around here and high time too! Thanks so much for asking though! hugs Armariel~~~{~@ Author Reply: p.s. BTW, what color is your hair?

Eruanna · 31 August 2005 · Chapter 32: Elrond's Farewell (Elrond)

Wow. That may be the most unique image of parenthood I've ever come across (and I mean that in a very good way). Stark and almost bitter, but there's a truth to it, as well. And Elrond doesn't seem entirely unwilling that things should be as they are. His view is an interesting mix of acceptance and despair, and it's all the more realistic because it never resolves that ambiguity. A beautiful and sorrowful piece, and deeply expressive. Keep it up! Blessings, Eruanna

Author's reply

Ohhh thanks--I wondered where you'd been keeping yourself lately! Yes, I surprised myself a little with this one--I usually like to inject a hopeful note into my poems and wanted to in this one as well, but something or somebody kept telling me firmly, "No!" So I just had to let this one be a downer, and rightly so, I think. Still, I'm a little worried about Elrond, and I've a little story in the offing that may bring him a measure of comfort...then again, maybe it won't, since my stories often have a way of not going according to plan. We'll just see! Glad to see you back again! Hope to see a little something from you soon too;<) blessings & cheer Armariel~~~{~@

Farawyn · 30 August 2005 · Chapter 32: Elrond's Farewell (Elrond)

To Armariel, from her Little, most likely Annoying, Cyber-Stalking, LotR-Crazy net-pal, Farawyn, as a little naive, spur-of-the-moment gift. (Warning: it only rhymes the first couple lines!) Your poems are exquisite, your writings divine, their words around my heart entwine. There they will lodge till end of time. But your verse truly is so sublime I wonder at the natural, simplistic, yet extraordinary beauty you are able to infuse -- to make dull, lifeless words suddenly burst alive! Sadness, yet joy, mixed in one poem. Desperation, yet a simple, strong courage, melded into one. The lovely beauty of Hope you are able to describe so well, yet in that joyous hope, there is yet some bitterness, longing, mixed. In a word, I really love your poetry! I thought of the first line of this little ... what would you call it, ramble, while I was eating breakfast this morning. I know it doesn't rhyme, and it's beats' out of tune, but think of it a little present of a scribble that a young child would present to a great artist who has been favoring her with a lesson now and then. At the least, think of it as what is in my heart! That truly is the greatest gift I can give you, praise of your labors, is it not? Thank you for putting up with me! I hope I'm not terribly annoying!

Author's reply

Annoying??? you???? what would I do without you??? *sniff* That's one of the loveliest gifts I have ever received, I am overwhelmed and quite at a loss for words! It so happens I am chatting with my "Sam" at the moment and I showed her what you wrote and she made a suggestion...so look sharp in the next day or so...you'll get a surprise! Thanks sososososososososoooooo much!!!! xoxoxxooxox RoZ/Armariel~~~{~@

Larner · 27 August 2005 · Chapter 20: Haven (Aragorn)

Very sad.

Author's reply

Sad, yes...lost both father and brother nearly back to back, plus so many of his men. Must have been a hard thing to deal with even after finding true love. Hmmm...there might be a poem in that idea too.............

Larner · 27 August 2005 · Chapter 32: Elrond's Farewell (Elrond)

Ah, the parting of Elves--until the End of Days he shall not see her again--and even then he knows not what to expect.

Author's reply

Yes, I keep worrying about him lately, for some reason. Can he ever be happy again, through all those ages?

Larner · 27 August 2005 · Chapter 31: Orphan Eyes (Theoden)

Sea images from a grass-bound kingdom. Very beautiful, as always.

Author's reply

Thank you! I knew sea imagery in a strictly inland country was a bit of a stretch, but then I kept remembering Tolkien describing Eowyn's eyes as sea colored--so I took the chance! (plus, I think I still had sea images stuck in my head from a recent story;)) xoxx Armariel~~~{~@

shirebound · 27 August 2005 · Chapter 32: Elrond's Farewell (Elrond)

You dance tall in a shaft of joy that magnifies your beauty thousandfold, your bridal gems as dewdrops on a glowing rose taking voices in the concord of your light. Oh my goodness, what amazing imagery. Elrond is such a quietly tragic figure, perceiving and enduring so much.

Author's reply

I didn't use to be so keen on him, but lately he's started to grow on me. I've a little story idea for him, but if or when it will come to anything remains to be seen! Thanks so much for reviewing! xoxx Armariel~~~{~@

Farawyn · 23 August 2005 · Chapter 31: Orphan Eyes (Theoden)

Who's your Sam, Armariel?

Author's reply

My best friend, whom I've known for just over 5 years, is German, and whom I got to visit in her country 4 years ago. The sweetest and purest soul I've ever known. Don't even want to think what I'd ever have done without her! What she has been to me is something I could never really impart to anyone who hasn't "grown up" with us, so to speak. But she has stood with me through much and never abandoned me even when I was going through a rough time and must have been horrible company at times. Sometimes I call her my adopted daughter since she's about 13 years younger than I am and is my primary beneficiary! lol If you're at all interested, I made a website of the songs and poems I've written for her, at http://delroz.bravepages.com/delchen/del.html...... Thanks for asking! xoxx Armariel aka RoZita~~~{~@

Antane · 19 August 2005 · Chapter 7: In the Tower (Frodo)

Wow! I, too, have come to LOTR through those magnificent films and got slowly but surely captivated by that beautiful hobbit Elijah played so perfectly and Sean and everyone else doing just as well. I then read the books and consider the reunion in the tower to be the most beautiful scene in the whole story - what incredible, pure, deep love! I want my own Sam! I am new to this site and look forward to wallowing in all the hobbity love I can find here! Love your stuff! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thanks for reading and reviewing! Yes, there's lots of wonderful stuff here and I've only scratched the surface yet, and more keeps coming in. I feel honored to be among the authors here. And I do have my own Sam...only, she's a she *g* xoxx Armariel~~~{~@

Antane · 19 August 2005 · Chapter 5: The Gardener Speaks (Sam)

What a beautiful, sweet, loving tribute to his Frodo! If we could all love and be loved so purely and deeply - what a wonderful world it would be! I was wondering if I could have the great honor of posting this on my website - http://www.writers-haven.net/hobbity_love.htm Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Agreed! and I would be honored to have you post it...and could you please link my site there, it's http://delroz.bravepages.com/elves/dreamflower.html I can send you a pretty banner if you'd like but it's not absolutely necessary. Thanks so much for reviewing! I'll check out your site when I get more time, nice pix over there and glad to see it's slash free *g* blessings & cheer Armariel~~~{~@
