Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 33: Color Amidst Darkness (Frodo)

A nice look at the reassurance of color and a comforting touch when so much has gone cold and grey.

Author's reply

THank you very much! I'm glad you liked this because this was a quite unpopular one over in Livejournal. :)

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 31: Soothing Balm for your Soul (Fellowship)

Meeting Celeborn and Galadriel must have been an unusual experience, almost as if they weren't quite within themselves. And they certainly needed the easing of their grief and loss.

Author's reply

And they certainly needed the easing of their grief and loss. They do need a reprieve from losing Gandalf and the dark suppressive environment of Moria...I would think that Lorien did heal their worries and made them more resilient to go on.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 19: Tears and Hope (Rosie &Sam)

Sam deserved all the love and comforting he could get. We all love Sam, I think.

Author's reply

He deserves all our love indeed~ I love Sam very much. :)

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 18: Fate (Bilbo)

Yes, our Bilbo would be strong for his beloved lad, even as he grieved for what he'd brought him to.

Author's reply

I think he had to try hard to mask his feelings of anxiety from Frodo...and also perhaps not bother Frodo with his own guilt too with giving him such an evil trinket.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 17: Gone (Samwise)

It appears you share Sam's own grief here, and I mourn with you. But this leaves a real feeling of the being left behind we know.

Author's reply

It's always sad to lose loved ones... the grief is always here but you just have to live on ...using memories to sustain you.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 16: Inevitability (Frodo)

No tears left, and time for refilling.

Author's reply

I still have tears when i think of that bittersweet scene...and i think it's very plausible that Frodo is all cried out...no more tears left, as you said.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 15: Hope Once Again (Frodo)

One of the days of remembering, and the Queen's jewel is only partially helpful.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 14: No Words (4 hobbits)

A wonderful image of the scene from the movie. One correction--ale is brewed from grain, so it comes from the breweries and the barley fields, not vinyards.

Author's reply

oops! that is quite a mistake, wasn't it? Surprised no one caught that until now... thank you for telling me. And yes, this scene is one of my favorites from RotK. =)

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 13: Unforgiven (Saruman)

Alas for Saruman, for he chose to lose himself completely.

Author's reply

He did have many choices--from Gandalf's ultimatum to Frodo's demand-- but all his choices were bad ones, alas. :p

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 11: At This Moment (Frodo)

If only that moment could have lasted ever for him, and sustained him. But one does not dwell ever upon the heights, not in this life....

Author's reply

It's always just important to cherish what you have at this instant for it could be lost very soon...For Frodo, obviously the bad overweighed the good... :(

Grey Wonderer · 12 April 2006 · Chapter 36: Resolved (Pippin)

I like Pippin's determination here. Very Tookish!

Author's reply

Thank you GW! so glad you liked this and cared enough to leave me another review. :)

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 26: Temptation (Frodo)

The temptation of belonging is a horrible one.

Author's reply

One can only imagine what the Ring's promises are to the Ring-bearer. Unfortunately Frodo had indeed worn it the longest time in which Sauron was back in power. ...

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 10: Praise them with Great Praise (Aragorn)

And none deserved it more.

Author's reply

I can't agree more. <3 hobbits <3 How Tolkien wrote how they were praised and how Gondor looked up to the hobbits is oh so heart-warming. :)

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 25: The Tides of Fate are Flowing (Frodo)

A horrible moment for him, I know. Alas, Frodo--intended for such a thing for so long and now accepting the necessity of it.

Author's reply

It's heartbreaking yet you love him all the more for volunteering himself. So heroic. He is definitely a hero of this story. <3Frodo<3

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 36: Resolved (Pippin)

Amen! They'd get nowhere without their Pippin!

Author's reply

Thank you for your thoughts, Larner~! And yes, Pippin is indeed instrumental to their Fellowship so very much. :)

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 35: The Shadow Has Departed (Merry)

Yes, a moment of joy and delight and awe as the might of Mordor falls under its own ponderous weight.

Author's reply

I always love that moment portrayed both in the books and movies. :)

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 34: To the Sea (Sam)

Oh, I can certainly see Sam thinking this.

Author's reply

Thank you! i'm glad you find it realistic. :)

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 32: Always Here (Merry&Pippin)

Yes, the "what-ifs" do tend to linger.

Author's reply

So many "what-ifs" in Lord of the Rings--takes many fanfic pages to fill. ;) =)

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 30: Peace at Last (Frodo)

Nice to see Annie Lennox's song playing its part here.

Author's reply

Thank you! Grey Havens scenes are always a source of inspiration for me and "Into the West" is definitely one of my favorite songs. :)

Larner · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 28: Back Again (Bilbo & Frodo)

A blessed release for the worry held so long. It was good to see Frodo return again.

Author's reply

Yes, the reunion with Bilbo is indeed long due and it's good to see Frodo back to one of his most beloved cousins.

FrodoBaggins_88 · 7 April 2006 · Chapter 18: Fate (Bilbo)

Awww...Bilbo! :) Bilbo definitely had to have had regrets for this and I like that despite his feelings you have him have a determination to be strong for Frodo.

Author's reply

It's always hard for Bilbo to accept it, i feel ...but gradually he just has to be strong for his cousin no matter what. ...though much angst can be thought into his times that he stayed at Rivendell... Thank you for you for your thoughts, mellon nin~ =)

Larner · 18 November 2005 · Chapter 20: 'Luthien come again upon earth'

Yes, a moment of revelation as the mortal woman sizes up her former rival.

Author's reply

I'm glad Eowyn found Faramir though... Indeed, Arwen is hard to match up to... (though i really prefer Eowyn-book and movie-verse) =)

Larner · 18 November 2005 · Chapter 22: Farewell to Lorien Part 2 (Sam)

Yes, our Sam.

Author's reply

I love Sam as much as i love our Frodo. :)

Larner · 18 November 2005 · Chapter 24: And In Dreams (Frodo)

Nice thoughts of comfort for one who's been lonely too long.

Author's reply

I want Frodo to feel loved~but indeed it's curious to think why Tolkien would have him a bachelor given that he's lost his family for so long of a time... Friends could do so much but i think a family for Frodo would've been quite interesting ... Perhaps TOlkien didn't want him to have any "strings attached" when he goes on his Quest so therefore left him single ... still i love a peaceful Frodo too--he really deserves it. :)

Larner · 18 November 2005 · Chapter 27: At First Sight (Faramir)

Nice moment for Faramir.

Author's reply

I'm always curious about what he thought--and how he would think that Eowyn would help him ease his pain of losing his brother and father as well... (which is an idea for another story...which i want to read/write.) =)
