PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

Another adventure ended, and all are happy and (mostly) well. I really liked your Halbarad, and Thalguron -- I think it made perfect sense that they were wary at first, it's their duty and their way of life. But hobbit kids (and Bilbo) can wear anyone down ... :-) Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

Thank you for your kind reviews. I have a weakness for h/c (hurt/comfort), heavy on the "c", especially when it comes to hobbits. And I can (usually) guarantee a happy ending!

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 14: Promises

Ah, the eternal dilemma -- stay in the warm bed, or investigate the breakfast-like smell ... :-)

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 11: In Your Company

I was wrong, it wasn't Gandalf. Ah well ... :-P

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 10: Between Worlds

Umm ... Gandalf? :-) Hope Frodo's okay, he seems to be taking a while to shake it off -- but I guess we didn't see how it went with Halbarad, so I suppose this could be similar. Or, maybe because he's smaller it just takes longer ...

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 7: Summoned

Well ... I can see this going bad. Somehow I suspect this won't be as smooth as they would like. I read the other Halloween story at the link you sent me, BTW. It was great! She does such a good job w your character setup, and it was a cute little story. Thanks for passing it along!

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 6: Keeping Secrets

So ... not immune. I never really believed that he would be, though -- what would be the point of that? :-P

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 3: Hidden Dangers

Well, that's just fantastic. *shakes head* Either he'll give them the slip and they'll have to go looking for him ... or hobbits won't be affected at all. (Probably neither will happen, and I'm on completely the wrong track ... :-P)

PSW · 15 November 2015 · Chapter 2: Hidden Paths

Ha! I just can't see this going well at all ... :-P

ladyevenstar · 11 April 2012 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

I know it is late in the coming, but I really want to leave a review for your story, Forces of Nature. ( hope I got that right) im really likeing this story line an I hope you will write more. Also, you describe Scamp as a small dog. Is she a poodle/multise or multipoo, as they are called? I own a multipoo, and he was brought to mind when the personality of Scamp was described. In case you are wondering,by the way, my dog's name is Samwise Gamgee, Sam for short.

Author's reply

Thank you for your review! I let folks imagine Scamp in whatever way they choose. Your multipoo sounds adorable. My dog's name is Pippin! (I have a chihuahua-terrier mix.)

addie71 · 11 September 2011 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

I just spent a lovely afternoon re-reading this delightful tale. I love how the trees recognize that Frodo is special and tell him to bring Aragorn. Merry's introduction to the series is spot on and it's always a delight when wee Pippin puts in an appearance.

Author's reply

Oh Addie, you make me smile so big. I loved writing this so much, and I'm just thrilled you enjoyed it enough to re-read. *hugs you all up*

Endaewen · 22 January 2009 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

I've enjoyed this story as much this time as I did the last time I read it.

Author's reply

Thank you so much for letting me know. That makes me really happy. :)

Author's reply

I wouldn't dream of not replying, Nancy. I'm very happy you're enjoying the stories enough to read them again. :)

nancylea57 · 1 September 2008 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

every once in a while i'm told people like to go back to enjoyable stories and reread them. me i like to do it fairly frequently. this is one of those i hope to reread another hundred times ( only a little hyperbole there). reminda me i need to start at the top and go all the way through. telk at you later. thank you for so many hours of enjoyment. n.

Author's reply

I re-read stories I love over and over, and am glad other folks do the same! I'm so happy you're enjoying this story. The whole "Quarantined" series is very close to my heart, and I loved writing all of them. :)

forochel · 9 August 2008 · Chapter 11: In Your Company

Just when I thought it couldn't get any *cuter*, PIPPIN POPS UP!!! I should have known, huh? *glees*

Author's reply

Just couldn't resist! Glad you're enjoying this, Forochel, and thank you so much for your review. :)

mews1945 · 27 June 2007 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

I re-read this for the MEFA's, so I could refresh my memory before reviewing it, and I just wanted to thank you once more for this lovely addition to your Quarantined universe. It's a wonderful place, a pleasure to visit with your hobbits and rangers and that sweet little rascal, Scamp. I think I need to re-read Quarantined again too. It always makes me feel good to read about Frodo and Estel and Bilbo, and having Merry and Pippin, and Halbarad and Thalguron along just made it a happier time for all.

Author's reply

Oh Mewsie, thank you!! This is my 'happy place', I think, where I can truly write my heart and give our beloved characters the fun, interaction, and gentle adventures I crave for them. *hugs*

Queen Galadriel · 18 April 2006 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

Shirebound, whenever I've been reading really angsty stories and I really start to feel it, I come back to your stuff and find something to read. Yes, you have angst, but just enough to keep things interesting and not so much that it's overwhelming. As it is I've just read two long stories with lots of angst, so this was great! :) I just love Scamp-she's just the perfect puppy! It's so sweet how she knows when she's needed and comes around just in time to comfort. And I love her mischievous streak as well...LOL! A tangle of leather strips...what an appropriate gift. Maybe it will keep her from chewing boot laces for a while. :) Speaking of boots, Pippin hiding inside one of those huge boots was just too cute! :) Leave it to him to think of that! Toddler Pippin is a perfect little darling, and I love his ducks and fwogs :), and Merry had best not forget that he pwomised to teach him twacking! I think you've made Pip a very real toddler; I can't imagine him anything but sweet and irresistible. :) The part with the trees was very creative, and I could definitely tell that they were speaking through Frodo-the voice was totally different. Wow! Their message, and just the fact that they were talking through Frodo, gave me the shivers. I don't think I've ever read anything of the kind in fanfic before! Poor Frodo, to go through that and then have such chaotic dreams. That's an awful feeling, isn't it, not to be able to separate dream from waking? But he definitely had the very best caretakers! :) I love your Merry! He's so responsible and level-headed, yet you never make him so grown-up that we forget he's a child. His artless frankness had me giggling. And Thalguron is a wonderful OC! No wonder Merry made him and Halbarad honorary Brandybucks! :) And I hope their mother takes extra good care of Halbarad, as I've no doubt she will. :) Frodo has indeed come a long way in four years. Such love and joy has wrought a great change. He's lost none of the innocence and trust, yet he doesn't seem so vulnerable; though of course he still has fears. That conversation with Bilbo was very well thought out, BTW. "When can we do it again?" LOL! A perfect way to end this! God bless, Galadriel P.S. Do I win the prize for the longest review? *grin*

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I also have stories I read and re-read when I need comfort, so I'm thrilled to be contributing stories like that for others. I'm actually trying to start a new "Quarantined" sequel which takes place just after "Force of Nature", but I'm having trouble getting some tricksy plot points to cooperate. I definitely want to get Aragorn, Frodo, Bilbo, Scamp, and Halbarad back together again. What a lovely review. *hugs*

rabidsamfan · 17 February 2006 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

Ah, that's what I love about things like the GMAs. The nudge to go and read stories I'd skipped for some odd reason the first time through. Wonderful fluffy angst. *sigh* Just no Sam! Ah well, I'll get my fix from your current story.

Author's reply

No Sam, I know! I was intent on getting Merry into this 'universe' somehow, and this is the story that evolved. At least Sam had major roles in "Quarantined" (after awhile), "Estel's Birthday", "By Chance or Purpose", and "Reflections of the Past", so he's a big, big part of this 'universe'. *hugs Sam* And hugs for you, RSF. Your love and devotion to this fandom just shines like a beacon. You're such a treasure.

Mysterious Jedi · 16 December 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

Just wanted to let you know I finished reading the story. It was excellent, as your stories always are <>< Saved from sin through Christ, mj

Author's reply

Thank you very much. I'm very happy you enjoyed this. I never dreamed this series would have so many stories!

Frodo Baggins · 19 October 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

Nooooo!!! It's over!! It can't be! It was too good. That was cool about the old forest. Just for curiosity, what breed it Scamp? She seems like a Beagle. I have two and they ALWAYS get into some sort of mischief (spelling?). THanks for an awesome story. I think I'll go read more fics by shirebound..... ;) God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Author's reply

I never went into detail about Scamp's appearance or breeding (see "Reflections of the Past" for her arrival at Bag End and adoption by the Bagginses), only that she's golden brown, and very tiny. Thank you so much for the lovely review! :D

Frodo Baggins · 16 October 2005 · Chapter 2: Hidden Paths

I read "Quarantined" on another website and LOVED it! I'm so glad you wrote a sequal!! I'm new to this whole fanfic thing, but am enjoying it so much! I have heard from a reliable source and my own observation that you are a notable author. I, and my mellon nin were very correct in that. Congratulations!! I can't wait to keep reading!! God bless, Frodo Baggins

Author's reply

Thank you very much! I never dreamed that "Quarantined" would spark so many sequels (I think there are five now!). It's nice to imagine a peaceful, happy pre-Quest 'universe' for our favorite characters.

Lily Baggins · 8 October 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

I finally got caught up on this!!! This was such an adorable story, as all of yours in this universe are. Everyone is so earnest and caring and well, you mix some angst in there but basically, the story is about hobbit-and-ranger friendship, which is my favorite thing. Or, er, the hobbits FEEDING the rangers. “This has been a perilous visit,” Thalguron said, hungrily eyeing the tray his Captain set upon the parlor’s largest table. “Already I fear my tunic is less easy to fasten than it was just days ago.” *chuckles* Thalguron would probably slay some Orcs and consider it an easy day, compared to the perilousness of a hobbit table! Well, I'm sorry to see it end! But I know there's another Frodo fic 'round the bend from you, thankfully. You know, this story was worth the read just to hear Aragorn say, "twacking." :D

Author's reply

Thanks, Lily! Somewhere out there, there's another Shire where all these fluffy, happy, snuggly things really happened (and are still happening). Somehwere out there, Aragorn was reporting back to Elrond and happened to use the word 'twacking', to the merriment of all. :D

Ariel · 28 September 2005 · Chapter 14: Promises

*Checks blood sugar* OK, lisping Pippin was nearly too cute, but you kept it believable. A sweet job as always.

Author's reply

I know that 'my' hobbits are usually *too* sweet and cute, but I do love them that way. Thank you for reading! :D

elly baggins · 25 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

i loved that last line! thanks for (another) fantastic story!

Author's reply

Thank *you*, Elly! :D

Anso the Hobbit · 25 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

What a wondreful ending to a sweet and exciting story! New bonds of friendship are made and I think both Rangers and hobbits surprised oneanother several times over. Thank you for this. :D

Author's reply

Thanks, Anso! As often as possible, I do love writing (and reading) about these less angsty 'adventures'.

Baggins Babe · 25 September 2005 · Chapter 15: Leavetaking

Computer was suitably de-fluffed but has now filled up again - I'm glad to say! This was a lovely winding-down but I do hope you re-visit this universe again soon. This line made me smile - Aragorn prepared a final sandwich, and surveyed the mountain he had created. “Is this enough?” “It should be,” Bilbo grinned. “You’re learning, my friend!” Aragorn knows his hobbits! I loved the hobbits making Halbarad and his brother honorary Brandybucks - I can think of no greater compliment than to be an honorary hobbit! Now Halbarad is going home to his mother (!) and Estel is off on his travels again - this has been a much needed break for the poor Ranger. Everyone needs a stay with hobbits every so often. Great story - thanks, Shirebound!

Author's reply

I think of all of *us* as honorary hobbits, to be sure! Certainly a lucky Ranger or two should also have such an honor... and such a relaxing, food- and smile-filled break from their routine. Thank you so much for reading.
