Dreamflower · 4 May 2007 · Chapter 10: Touch

I don't recall if I had the time to comment on this at LJ, but it's just beautiful. I believe hobbits need the touch of their loved ones just as much as they need food and drink--this is a wonderful illustration of that!

Author's reply

Thank you, Dreamflower. I feel the same way, especially regarding a hobbit like Frodo -- who's gone through the loss of parents and then Bilbo leaving just as he came of age. I think 'touch' would be very reassuring.

Baggins Babe · 1 February 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

Awww!! Snuggly hobbits!! How adorable. Sweet to see Frodo already feeling he could trust this mysterious Ranger. I'd still like a snuggly hobbit though! :-))

Author's reply

I think Frodo had a very keen perception when it came to 'Strider'. There aren't many things better than hobbit snuggling! I think we need our own snuggly hobbits...

Linda Hoyland · 1 February 2007 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

Just hilarious! I like the twist.Whoever would have thought Elrond had the cold?

Author's reply

Thanks, Linda! I think Elrond would be most intrigued by his own illness. :D

Linda Hoyland · 1 February 2007 · Chapter 6: Trust

I liked the unexpected twist in this one.

Author's reply

This was fun to write. I'm not very good at 'misdirection'.

Linda Hoyland · 1 February 2007 · Chapter 5: Healing Hands

Just lovely, I always imagine Aragorn is good at massage. Very moving about the broken sword.

Author's reply

Thank you, Linda. I think Frodo and Aragorn have a very special bond.

Linda Hoyland · 1 February 2007 · Chapter 4: The Best We Have

A lovely moment.

Author's reply

Thank you.

Linda Hoyland · 1 February 2007 · Chapter 3: Stubborn As Can Be

I love this, bananas are a favourite fruit of mine !

Author's reply

And now... of Frodo's, too! :D

Linda Hoyland · 1 February 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

Very sweet, I love Frodo and Aragorn stories.

Author's reply

So do I!!

harrowcat · 31 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

And Strider has also proved his trustworthiness to Sam as well obviously. And now we know the reason for the wonderful hobbit-pile.

Author's reply

I just can't get enough of snuggled hobbits. Lucky Strider, to be trusted so. :D

Frodo Baggins · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

Interesting story. I liked it very much. :) That's so sweet that Frodo trusted Aragorn even in his sleep. It's obvious from the books that Frodo was more willing to trust Aragorn than any of the others. Not sure what my point was in saying that... All right, all right. I'm off to bed. I really shouldn't do this late night thing. :) And usually I'm such a night owl... Namarie, God Bless, Yours, Frodo Baggins

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked this. I think Frodo was very perceptive -- from the very beginning -- when it came to Aragorn.

Antane · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

I love it! I've imagined him at times curling up to Sam the same way after the Quest. Very nice - he's found another brother. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Frodo just needs all the snuggling and comfort and trust he can find. :D

AspenJules · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

This is very sweet, and had to be extremely heartwarming for Strider, the scruffy Ranger of the North, to realize that such a beautiful soul had decided, whether consciously or subconsciously, that he was trustworthy. Frodo may have had to be as much in control, and self-contained as he could while awake, but his sleeping mind knew that he could entrust himself to Aragorn's care, and finally acted on it. For one who had lived hiding his true self for so long, who had been unappreciated, misunderstood, even feared ... what a wondrous gift to be given. Beautiful story, Shirebound - thank you for sharing!

Author's reply

Frodo really is a "beautiful soul", and I love how you say that. This truly is a tribute to Strider's worth, and Frodo's ability to perceive it. Thank you so much.

Queen Galadriel · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

Awww! *grins while diving into fluff* This is cute and amusing, Shirebound. Oh, the stories my family can tell about sleepwalking! It always makes me uncomfortable, but Aragorn didn't seem a bit surprised, and, of course, who wouldn't be happy about having the trust of Frodo Baggins? (I guess he might have had to be accustomed to such things; I have a feeling being a healer would give one experience with *lots* of stuff. Hmmm, there could be some stories there...*nudges cute little bunny* :)) Thank you for a smile! :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed! I only sleep-walked once (that I know about). It's a strange phenomenon, isn't it? If only we all had a snuggly Ranger (or hobbit) to curl up with!

Daynawayna · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

HOW CUTE! OMG Janet I love it! And you know what? I'll bet it happened exactly that way, too! Can I curl up on Aragorn's lap too? Pweease? ::giggle::

Author's reply

Thank you. I can't figure out why this scene wasn't filmed! (Or maybe it was, and it was just too melty and cuddly for a PG-13 movie. Ah well, we can imagine all we wish!) Let's all take turns curling up on Aragorn's lap...

Larner · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

Now, that I certainly didn't see coming! But lovely thought, that Frodo had come to respect him as a protector that quickly.

Author's reply

Thank you. The birthday girl especially loves Frodo - Aragorn friendship scenes, and this seemed an appropriate gift for her. :D

Andrea · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 9: Feeling Safe

Strider would gently carry him back to the nest of blankets and hobbits... Awww!!! That's sweet! And Strider was rewarded for always keeping watch, with Frodo giving him his trust. Very nice! Thank you!

Author's reply

Thank you, Andrea. There will never be an end to the comfort and sweetness, if I have anything to do with it. :D

Edlyn · 11 January 2007 · Chapter 6: Trust

oooh! I love it! I haven't found many fics that have Faramir on the quest instead of Boromir and this was lovely. I liked it that you kept the identity of the rear guard a secret at first. IT made it all the more telling when Frodo said his name. Now my imagination is bubbling over with ideas for a AU Faramir on the Quest fic... See what reading such excellent writing can do to one? Hugs, Dancingkatz

Author's reply

Awww, thank. And I hope those ideas bubble into stories! Glad you enjoyed this. :D

Edlyn · 11 January 2007 · Chapter 4: The Best We Have

Awwww! I loved this! You always get me with your Boromir/Hobbit fics and this one was no exception. I can just see Boromir draping his wonderfully warm cloak over them! And I can certainly imagine Pippin's reaction to that kindeness (well, yes, and the others, but Pippin is special to me). Off to read more! Dancingkatz

Author's reply

Thank you, Dancingkatz! I love writing about Boromir and 'his' hobbits. :D

lbilover · 9 January 2007 · Chapter 8: Finding Peace

What a lovely and comforting scene. Elrond is the perfect person to talk to Sam, and that he was able to show Sam just how much he *did* succeed at Mount Doom makes me feel happy and warm inside :-) Thank you for this!

Author's reply

Awww, thank you. This makes me feel happy and warm, too. I just loved this bunny. :D

Bodkin · 7 January 2007 · Chapter 8: Finding Peace

It is fascinating when you spot parallels that you had never considered before! Being compared to Elrond must have been rather disconcerting to Sam - especially when he could consider that Frodo, unlike Isildur, is now free of the Ring.

Author's reply

There's seemingly just no end to the intricate ways the characters can be found to intertwine, allowing anyone (even a humble gardener and an ancient Elf Lord) to find common ground. :D

Baggins Babe · 6 January 2007 · Chapter 8: Finding Peace

I didn’t ever lose him. Gandalf said not to, and I never did.” That is just so Sam and one of the most perfect lines you've ever written, Shirebound! I loved the comparisons between Elrond and Sam, and Sam's realisation that he and Frodo really did all they could. Meant to review when you first posted it but RL can be a real distraction sometimes!

Author's reply

Thank you so much, BB. How many of us find peace in life by knowing, in our hearts and minds, that we truly did "all we could"? And I agree about RL! December was so overloaded with 'stuff' to do, I couldn't wait for January to roll around. I'm hoping this will be a peaceful and creative year for us all. *hugs you*

harrowcat · 5 January 2007 · Chapter 8: Finding Peace

Sorry it has taken me a while to get round to responding to this. It has been sitting in my e.mails to savour whenever I go looking. I love the parallels between Elrond and Sam. And Elrond would be welcome to give me a foot massage anytime! *g* But I bet Sam is a little red!

Author's reply

Yes, I'm sure this was all quite embarrassing to poor Sam. But he feels better now, and that's what matters. Thank you for reading! :D

Larner · 4 January 2007 · Chapter 8: Finding Peace

I am thankful for the surgery, rough and brutal as it was, offered by Gollum allowing Frodo not to be totally lost, there at the Cracks of Doom. And Sam managed to help draw Frodo back long enough to bring both to where they could be rescued and allowed to know life once more. A wonderful reassurance offered Sam here by Elrond.

Author's reply

Thank you. I was very inspired by this Sam - Elrond bunny. I love how the Professor wove the themes of patience, endurance, and mercy throughout his magnificent tale. Sam needs to realize that he did well... very well indeed.

Larner · 4 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Half Elven

A cold is a new and wondrous experience for an Elven lord of the majesty of Elrond? How delightful!

Author's reply

This was fun. :D

Larner · 4 January 2007 · Chapter 6: Trust

Oh--how wonderful! A so wonderful AU in which Faramir remains true to his nature, and Frodo finds himself comforted and guarded by two of the most faithful of all of the Dunedain left in Middle Earth. Thank you, Shirebound!

Author's reply

Oh my, thank you so much! We're so lucky to be able to play in this world, and it's especially wonderful to ensure that Frodo gets all the protection, love, and healing he deserves.
