That was a sad chapter. Poor Pippin. He is so sweet, and gives his heart so quickly and completely. You're right, though, that is what makes him so indearing. He wouldn't be the hobbit we all love if he guarded his heart. Now I'm looking forward to seeing his first real meeting with Diamond. I know they exchanged a look, but he doesn't even know which one she is. I hope Sapphira is happy in her choice. We females can be so fickle, and it seems we are often quick to change relationships, and we often hurt the males we love, all unwittingly. I had a teacher in high school who read us the riot act on this point. She told us we were cruel to the boys by throwing them over at the drop of a hat. Then, many times we would ask that same boy to take us back, and the poor sucker would. I was never sure who's fault those weird reltationships were, but this teacher laid it squarely at the feet of the girls. At least I don't think Sapphira is going to get a chance to leave her original betroathed a second time. Thanks for the update. Connie B.

Author's reply

No, Sapphira made a grave error in leaving her beloved in Long Cleeve, so she won't be leaving him again. Hey, tell your teacher that guys are just as fickle! LOL Pippin isn't though; he's just trying to find that special lass to share his life with. Oh, yes, you can count on Pippin and Diamond meeting up soon. ;-) Thank *you* so much for reading! Larner · 22 June 2005 · Chapter 9: Evening of Disaster

All too often the road of love is sown with thorns, and it appears poor Pippin has done nothing but ensnare himself in them for quite some time. Alas, Pippin--but do take a small look at the sister who sees your pain.

Author's reply

Ah, Larner, you are too sweet. :-) That wee sister is going to blossom throughout the coming chapters while Sapphira will diminish. Sapphira's done her job. ;-) Thank you so much for reading. More to come this weekend. :-) Pippinfan

Pearl Took · 16 June 2005 · Chapter 8: The Truth Comes Out

They handled Posey well . . . not with quite the panashe of the Terrible Took Sisters . . . but well for a couple of lads ;) Oh dear, poor Pippin. I had the feeling she wasn't really over her beau. *sigh* Whatever will you have happen next? So Very, Very Well Done!!!!!!!

Author's reply

Oh, the Terrible Took Sisters!! LOVED them!! (Peregrin & Diamond, by Pearl Took) LOL...one of them is going to get "Terrible" in the foreseeable future, though. ;-) Yeah, Merry wasn't having any nonsense at his wife's party, nor would he suffer it if aimed at his dearest friend and cousin. Yes...poor, poor Pip. Both are on the rebound, which is one of the reaons why this relationship was never meant to be, no matter how stubborn our Pippin is. Thank you, mentor!! Thank you for reading Courtship! :-) Pippinfan

Larner · 15 June 2005 · Chapter 8: The Truth Comes Out

Poor lass, caught between two loves, and having to decide, and after Pippin has to fend off an accusation of paternity suit. Alas, for her--but he will meet his Diamond soon. Love the game of War.

Author's reply

Yepper, the Posey-lass is desperate. Yes, Diamond isn't far off at all. :-) The game of War...lol, I don't believe I ever had the lads playing cards yet, but decided to give it a whirl here. LOL...and I forgot the aces! I had to go back and add it in--and fix one other wee part. I haven't played cards in ages. Thanks for the feedback, and thank you for reading Courtship! Pippinfan

Larner · 15 June 2005 · Chapter 7: No Troubles at All

Ah, the green eyed monster has invaded Posey's heart. Alas, Sapphira--getting caught in the crossfire! Lovely writing and lovely images!

Author's reply

Yes, that green monster of jealousy...I know it well. Thank you for the lovely compliments! Thanks for reading. :-) Pippinfan

Connie B. · 15 June 2005 · Chapter 8: The Truth Comes Out

That Posey is something else. I can think of several words for her, but none of them are printable in a public forum. Pippin really needs to slow down. He gives his heart entirely too quickly. If he's not careful, he's going to get it broken. I hope that doesn't happen. Great chapter. Thanks. Connie B.

Author's reply

LOL! Connie! Hey, she's getting what she deserves; a life-long committment to raising kids--oops, that goats, isn't it? Hehehe. Well, she'll be sloshing around the muck pen, washing nappies, smelling all sorts of new and "wonderous" fragrances! But I think giving his heart away easily is the charming way of Pippin (my Pippin, anyway), his love being deep and abiding. Unfortunately, a broken heart is par for the course for people and hobbits like him. Thank you so much for reading, Connie! Pippinfan

Dreamflower · 15 June 2005 · Chapter 8: The Truth Comes Out

Oh, dear! Poor Posey, forced to marry "beneath" her!*snicker* (Actually the one I feel sorry for is the potential husband, poor lad.) And Posey's mother had better hope that Esmeralda and Eglantine don't get wind of what she put her daughter up to, or her name will be mud from one end of the Shire to the other! Telling her not to come home without Pippin on her arm! What nerve! Well, I knew that Sapphira was still carrying the torch for Hildibrand. He was a childhood sweetheart after all. How sad for Pippin; but he gives his heart away so easily, and that's part of his charm as well...

Author's reply

LOL...yeah, Posey and her mother are getting their just reward! Hmmm...plots abound. I'll have to see what the muse says about Esmeralda and Tina...perhaps that wee little monster might make an attempt to rear it's ugly head one last time. Not that I never considered what they might think, but we'll have to wait and see. ;-) LOL...can't wait to read your romance--I'm dying to see if there are little complications similar to this--but don't say yea or nay because I'm getting nearer to my goal. Yes, the truth is out...lol, in more ways than one. The poor lad does give his heart away at the drop of a hat, and I love him for it--figuratively speaking. Thank you so much for reading! Pippinfan

Pearl Took · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 7: No Troubles at All

Oh dear!!! This doesn't bode well at all!!! Keep writing and I'll keep up with my reading than I have in the past. :) I'm loving this :)

Author's reply

I'm glad you're loving it--I really like writing about my favorite hobbit. Stick around; all I will say is poor, poor Pippin. :'( Take care. Pippinfan

Pearl Took · 14 June 2005 · Chapter 6: She's the One

"Pippin was tired, too, however, he wanted the chance to speak confidentially with Merry. He got up, walking over to the hearth to relight his pipe. Pippin held a long, thin piece of kindling over the hearth fire then set it to his pipe bowl, puffing on the stem until the leaf burned a bright orange. He waited patiently while Everard and Merry finished sharing a few private words of their own." This is a picture beautifully painted, I love it! Great chapter! “Sapphira?” The young nursemaid looked up at her newest friend. “I…I don’t know.” Sounds like there might be a problem here. I look forward to finding out how things go.

Connie B. · 12 June 2005 · Chapter 7: No Troubles at All

Ooo, that Posey is a sneaky one. What she did could make things look really bad for both Sapphira and Pippin. Yes, Pippin is rushing into things, but he doesn't deserve ill-treatment by an ex. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and I'd say Posey is a poster child for that fact. Thanks for the update. Connie B.

Author's reply

Posey is a poster child for a lot of things, but as I'm already late with replying, you already know that wee fact. ;-) Thank you so much for reading. Pippinfan

Grey Wonderer · 11 June 2005 · Chapter 6: She's the One

Everard sure is rushing things along, isn't he? He must be one of those married people that thinks everyone else should be married. Poor Pip, I do wish he could manage to take Merry's advice this time, but I am guessing that he will have to do it the hard way just like he always does. I am enjoying this one. Hope there will be more soon.

Author's reply

Oh...I like Everard, but yes, he is one of "those people", though I think unintentionally. I believe Pippin knows himself the best, and he *is* ready to settle down; he just has to find the right lass, and ignore peer pressure such as this. I am so glad you're enjoying this--and I hope to update again before the weekend is out. Thank you so much for reading! Pippinfan

Dreamflower · 9 June 2005 · Chapter 6: She's the One

*sigh* If only Pippin would listen to Merry... And I am guessing that Sapphira is still in love with her old flame... Poor Pip.

Author's reply

Yes, poor Pip. The road to true love for him is a hard one. I am afraid that your guess is....very correct. :-) Stuff will begin to unravel soon. Thank you for reading! Pippinfan p.s. I'm in the middle of your challenge tales at work; wonderful beginning! Hopefully I'll finish it all by tomorrow. Gotta wee chuckle at Wil...poor hobbit! Think he's under a bit of stress. ;-)

Connie B. · 8 June 2005 · Chapter 6: She's the One

Oh dear. They're both rebounding, and that is never a good way to start a long-lasting relationship. They both need to step back and assess how they really feel. If they're not careful, both of them could end up getting hurt and losing any chance they have at even being friends. I hope they slow down and realize that this isn't quite right yet. Hope what I'm saying makes sense. Connie B.

Author's reply

Well, something--or someone--will make them slow down eventually. Yes, they're both in this thing for the wrong reasons. Thank you so much for reading! :-) Hope you're well rested now. ;-) Pippinfan

Larner · 8 June 2005 · Chapter 6: She's the One

I'm interested in how the relationship with Sapphira leads to the introduction between Pippin and Diamond, of course; and I am afraid Sapphira is still in love with her ex. Love the writing.

Author's reply

Not to fear, Larner--that is coming in the very near future. Sapphira's "sadness" is all part of the disaster of this relationship. Thank you for the compliment--I take all to heart. Thank you for stopping by to read! Pippinfan

Connie B. · 6 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Roses and Rhymes

How nice to come home from another long weekend away and find this update. The kissing scene was great. Now I'm wanting to know what started Sapphira crying in the first place. Thanks for the update. Connie B.

Author's reply

So I've heard! Take a deep breath and relax, friend. :-) As for Sapphira--and Pippin, things will start becoming clearer on both sides of the relationship soon. Why he is falling so hard and why she is reacting the way she is. Thank you for reading! :-) Pippinfan

Pearl Took · 5 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Roses and Rhymes

(you are most welcome) A good chapter in a good story, m'dear :) I look forward to more :) Lovin' it!!

Author's reply

Thank you! As you well know, I had a little help from my mentor. Oh! Is that you? LOL... I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. And thanks for reading! Pippinfan

Dreamflower · 5 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Roses and Rhymes

This is a very sweet chapter. But I am very much afraid I know exactly why Sapphira was sad in the garden before Pippin found her...

Author's reply

LOL...you and a host of others, save Pippin. ;-) It wasn't supposed to be a huge secret, but I didn't want it to be too obvious, either. I am glad that *you* caught it. I want to say more about it, but things are going to be coming up here soon and I don't want to spoil it. Thank you for dropping by to read and let me know what you're thinking. Take care. Pippinfan

Larner · 4 June 2005 · Chapter 5: Roses and Rhymes

Ah, I love the Lad rhymes. Secrets are getting out, apparently.

Author's reply

Thanks...well, it seems a fad is emerging, and all of it started with a six year old hobbit-lad! 'Tis now fashionable for a laddie to be seen skipping rope down the lane... Thank you for stopping by to read! Pippinfan

Larner · 4 June 2005 · Chapter 4: Third Time's a Charm?

Aha--so Sancho Proudfoot is at the base of the no-jumproping thing, then, is he? Too bad--I rather like the lad, as foolish as he can be at times.

Connie B. · 31 May 2005 · Chapter 4: Third Time's a Charm?

Okay, I revoke my wish to slap poor Pippin. He was only trying to spare a lad from the same teasing he'd received. He just went about in too blunt a mannor--gee how suprizing--not. I lilked the way his sister is playing with his head. She knows what's up, and she's going to find subtle ways to drive Pippin crazy because of it. This could be fun. Thanks. Connie B.

Connie B. · 31 May 2005 · Chapter 3: Quandaries

Sorry it's taking me so long to review. I'm still recovering from the weekend. Can I slap Pippin, please. I can't believe he just acted that way. I know the times were different then, that there were much more strict and stayed roles for males and females, and that to play a "girls game" if you were a boy was frowned upon, but did he really have to be so rude about it? Sorry for the long sentence. I really liked this chapter. I especially liked the stuff about Paladin. The image of him scheduling an afternoon trist with his wife was too much. I love it. Thanks. Connie B.

Grey Wonderer · 31 May 2005 · Chapter 4: Third Time's a Charm?

Laughed out loud at Pippin and the book shelves. I also like Pimpernel in this one. She's such a tease. Oh, and I just knew that there had to be a jump rope story lurking somewhere in his past.

Pearl Took · 30 May 2005 · Chapter 4: Third Time's a Charm?

I love, love, love the way you have Pippin relating to his nephews!! It's so real and so wonderful. This is another of your sweet and charming tales, I'm loving it :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Pearl! I do love to imagine the family interacting as a whole. Thank you for stopping by and for leaving a sweet compliment such as you always do. Take care! Pippinfan

Grey Wonderer · 27 May 2005 · Chapter 3: Quandaries

I like Gelly. Interesting kid that one. So there may be a rope-jumping story in Pippin's past? I am wonderig since he seems dead set against this if there is a story there? Three older sister and, well, just wondering. I also wonder what broke up his previous romance? I am full of questions, aren't I? Hope you will be posting more over the weekend. I will look forward to it.

Author's reply

LOL...you have my hobbits nailed down, don't you? There is only one other person who does, too. You'll soon find out the answers to all your questions. ;-) Pippinfan

Larner · 26 May 2005 · Chapter 3: Quandaries

Too bad preconceptions have taken Pippin right now. Silly lad! One day boxers will be skipping rope to build up stamina and breath.

Author's reply

Just a wee misunderstanding...there's more of the 'skipping rope' coming up. ;-) Thank you for reading! Pippinfan
