Faramiriel · 2 April 2007 · Chapter 9999: A Happy New Year

Yaaaaaaay!!! I love happy endings! In the toast part, I would suggest you change the "too" to "as well" or something like that. I think it would sound better. But that's just me. Happiness!!!!!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I followed your suggestion about "as well,"thanks. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the story.

hahaha i'd love to see his face. i am very glad i am not the warden of the asylum. *shivers*

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'd not like to be that warden either!

Bodkin · 25 March 2007 · Chapter 9999: A Happy New Year

I'm glad Eowyn talks to Aragorn as if he's a person! Like a brother. She is, after all, the sister of a King - which I suppose, together with her personality, gives her a greater right to speak to him that way than pretty well anyone else. And Faramir is healed and happy, too. For the moment, anyway! And reconciliation abounds. I do like a nice happy ending!

harrowcat · 25 March 2007 · Chapter 9999: A Happy New Year

I liked both Linda but this is definitely better for the rewrite. Thanks for talking the time to do it.

Author's reply

Thank you so much, knowing it is appreciated makes all the hard work, worthwhile.

Raksha The Demon · 25 March 2007 · Chapter 9999: A Happy New Year

A heart-warming ending to a suspenseful, angsty epic. Now if only the future of our heroes could be as rosy as it looks right now! You should write Aragorn and Faramir into stories where they do nothing but get drunk, sing songs, and play Numenorean scrabble games. But somehow I think you have more dire events up your sleeve.

Author's reply

Thank you for your much appreciated review and for all your support throughout this story.I'm so pleased you enjoyed it. I might write some happy stories,or at least drabbles, but my wicked readers love to see our poor heroes getting into trouble!

Julia · 17 March 2007 · Chapter 19: Mud,Mud,Glorious Mud !

I liked this one! May I suggest an alternate title for the chapter? "Rub-a-dub-dub, two hunks in a tub!"

Author's reply

Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed the chapter.

Bodkin · 17 March 2007 · Chapter 19: Mud,Mud,Glorious Mud !

Nothing like a nice wallow in mud to give a couple of former Rangers enjoyment. And I'm very glad I didn't have to clear the mud out of the bath - and wonder rather about its effect on the servants who did. Could be ... disconcerting. And I'm also pleased not to have to do the laundry here! But I'm glad they're getting better and having fun.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. It is good to see them having fun at long last. I wouldn't like to be the servants either !

Bodkin · 12 March 2007 · Chapter 18: Homecoming

A tranquil interlude - well, relatively! Hanna is definitely a sandwich short of a picnic, although that doesn't make her any less dangerous. I suspect Arwen is not as ... delicate as Aragorn seems to think, but if she wants to humour him, fine! But the relationship are definitely improving - not only Aragorn/Faramir, but Faramir/Eowyn, Eowyn/Aragorn - and, hopefully Faramir/Eowyn/Arwen! They will need each other's support to cope with what will come.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I fear Hanna is very dangerous and should not be underestimated. You are quite right about Arwen, she is being underestimated too. This story is about forging the bonds you mention, which was why I felt I should rewrite it rather than abandon it as a failed early effort.

MithLuin · 9 March 2007 · Chapter 18: Homecoming

Poor, poor Faramir! I dunno, I think it is worse not to warn someone than to order them or trick them into it.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. You make a good point, though Aragorn means well.

Raksha The Demon · 9 March 2007 · Chapter 18: Homecoming

What could be causing Faramir to be shocked? He sees: 1. A troupe of half-nekkid dancing girls from Rhun 2. A troupe of half-nekkid dwarves with a set of drums 3. Legolas offering to do pedicures 4. Boromir's ghost 5. A bathtub filled with water, and Aragorn's rubber ducky. Seriously, Aragorn has all kinds of wonderful hopes for the future. I'm sure that no fanfiction writer would be evil enough to rain on his parade...Did I say seriously? Compelling description of Hanna's departure, btw.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review and making me smile.No.5 is the nearest guess ! Guess what fanfiction writer is planning future nasty surprises and scattering clues! I'm pleased you liked Hanna's departure.

Bodkin · 12 February 2007 · Chapter 17: What child is this?

That letter! Definitely should have been burnt! While Elbeth is beginning her reign as the star of the show ... (almost). Good to see Aragorn recovering and helping Faramir heal ... but it's a calm before a storm and full of foreshadowing!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. That letter certainly has the potential to cause a lot of trouble ! This was meant to be Elbeth's only appearance but she demanded more than a walk on role, which I expanded during this rewrite. I never give my poor heroes much peace,do I?

Raksha The Demon · 9 February 2007 · Chapter 17: What child is this?

Elbeth is an interesting little mystery, isn't she?! Wonder why her eyes seem so familiar to Faramir. Maybe Denethor was livelier than anyone thought, LOL. No, I can't see Denethor fooling around with a kitchen maid, or anyone after Finduilas. We all know who that leaves... Hopefully, Elbeth will have a better life now. Faramir really wants to have a little girl to dote on and spoil, that's for sure. Good chapter!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I don't like Denethor, but I can't imagine him fooling around either. Let us hope that Faramir does not live to regret leaving Elbeth with the Housekeeper's sister !

Julia · 9 February 2007 · Chapter 17: What child is this?

I loved Elbeth in this, and enjoyed picking out the clues you put in that hint what's going to happen in the next story.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked the clues!

harrowcat · 9 February 2007 · Chapter 17: What child is this?

Elbeth is such a spirited child. I like the way you show her as both rebellous and also in need of comfort and sympathy.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you enjoyed Elbeth in this chapter, I gave her a much expanded scene from my first version, now I know her !

lmw · 27 January 2007 · Chapter 16: What dreams may come

I haven't been here (stories of Arda) in a very long time. I have read all there is (so far) of Shadow and Thought, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Your characters are very real, well thought out, and I can so see these misunderstandings and fears happening. I can't wait for more!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review and welcome to my stories !I'm so pleased you are enjoying this and the way I portray the characters.

Raksha The Demon · 27 January 2007 · Chapter 7: When a raging fever burns

It's nice to see that despite the misunderstanding that still separates them, Faramir and Eowyn are reaching out to each other in a dark time. And good for them both, pushing themselves so hard to try to save Aragorn!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. Let us hope that the fight for Aragorn's life will evenually unite them !

Raksha The Demon · 27 January 2007 · Chapter 0: Strained Relations

A very rocky start to the marriage of Faramir and Eowyn; and now they're stuck in mutually misunderstood misery. I don't agree that Faramir would ever behave like a "beaten lapdog" around the King or anyone, but many fanfic writers have differing perceptions of the character. Poor Aragorn, getting bored at state dinners. That's one duty a head of state can't easily escape. Good thing he's probably got a Numenorean metabolism and won't plumpen much with the heavy food-load and lack of time to exercise. I imagine that Arwen found Ioreth's company refreshing, after all the beautiful, elegant elves she's known for millenia, a tough, earthy old lady might amuse her as well as teach her some things she hadn't known before.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I don't think Faramir a beaten lapdog, everyone in the story is sadly misunderstanding him, poor man!He just needs to learn that Aragorn is not going to burn him alive like daddy dearest planned to ! I think Arwen becomes quite fond of Ioreth.

Raksha The Demon · 26 January 2007 · Chapter 13: A Knife in the Dark

Enter Hanna, attractive, determined, but definitely a few bricks short of a full load or whatever. Care should be taken to keep her in a blade-free environment; she's entirely too free with sharp objects!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. Hanna is a very dangerous woman.Boromir was lucky she wasn't crazed when they met.

Raksha The Demon · 26 January 2007 · Chapter 15: Kick up the fire, and let the flames break loose

Scary action-filled chapter - I can almost smell the smoke! Faramir, Eowyn and Aragorn make a good team.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm glad you enjoyed this as I'm not good at action scenes.I think the three will continue to be a team in the future now.

Raksha The Demon · 26 January 2007 · Chapter 16: What dreams may come

Good revision of this chapter, especially the extra detail on Elbeth, and Faramir's reaction to her. I think it's very credible that Faramir's horror of his father's death and his own near-death in the pyre might have been repressed until now; some things cannot be immediately dealt with in the dark forests of the heart.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm glad you like the extra detail about Elbeth. She was only meant to make fleeting appearance but took over !I think Faramir has repressed his emotions a great deal until now.

Julia · 20 January 2007 · Chapter 16: What dreams may come

Poor Fara with his PTSD-like flashback to the pyre of Denethor, thankfully he has Aragorn to help him. Little Elbeth was so cute. And I liked how at the end Eowyn saw the scars on Aragorn's back, that her she had caused when her misplaced anger had made her carelessly rip away Aragorn's bandages, and got choked up over it. I think Eowyn still has some growing up to do, but I think she's on the right path. Hmm, so the Rohirrim aren't inhibited like the Gondoreans are? I like the idea of a whole country filled with hot uninhibited blond men and fast horses!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I think Eowyn is learning now. I will send you a ticket for a trip to Rohan !

Bodkin · 20 January 2007 · Chapter 16: What dreams may come

First meeting with Elbeth! There should be bells ringing! Faramir and Aragorn are so prudish! Like Eowyn, I'm rather surprised by it - after all, they've spent years with groups of warriors. I'd have thought excessive modesty would be impossible under those circumstances. They need each other though. And Eowyn is - now she's calmer - wise enough to see it.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. One reason I wanted rewrite this was to make more of the first meeting with Elbeth. To begin with,it was meant to be a one off,but ELbeth demanded more attention and keeps reappearing ! I wanted to create contrasting cultures and thought about stories I'd heard of women disguised as men in armies in olden days, which suggests keeping clothes on was possible then. Eowyn is gradually learning more wisdom.

harrowcat · 20 January 2007 · Chapter 16: What dreams may come

You have been working very hard on this Linda and it is a riveting read. The developing relationship between these three is portrayed beautifully.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. Your kind words make all the hard work worthwhile as sometimes I fear no one reads my rewrites.I'm so pleased you are enjoying the story.I feel I know my characters better than I did when i first wrote it,at least I hope so !

Bodkin · 24 December 2006 · Chapter 15: Kick up the fire, and let the flames break loose

Good thing they saved Elbeth! And the beginning of the chapter sounded too happy to last - but they are all getting along much better now and seem able to appreciate each other's strengths.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. When I wrote this first time round, I had no idea how big a part Elbeth would eventually play. This was meant to be her sole appearance.THe story is meant to mark the begiining of a great friendship.
