This was a very unusual story, but I liked it - eventually. At first I just thought it strange, but when the dream began, I was really drawn into it. Good job!
Author's reply
Thank you so much, Virtuella :-)
I've written a few that start out strange that I hope eventually draw the reader in. I'm glad this one eventually hooked you :-) It is one of my favorites.

I don't remember reading this one before, although I suspect I did. How lovely to find Pippin so reassuring his son, Pearl. Lovely indeed. And I so love Cullassisul.
Author's reply
Larner my dear, it is so good to find I'm not the only one who reads a story, really likes it, then can't remember having read it.
You did read this before almost exactly two years ago. You left a review dated 8/17/2006.
Thank you for reading it again and still enjoying it! :-)
You're a dear!
Hugs!

I think this is a very sweet story. It's lovely to see the hobbits enjoying a life of normality after their ordeals, and it's funny to imagine Sam not looking forward to a meal! I always enjoy your smooth and warm style of writing.
Author's reply
I know what you mean, something is just not right about a hobbit not wanting a meal, LOL!
Thank you so much, Virtuella :-)

How the heck did I miss this one?? I think you did a great job with the elements given; I liked your use of the mythologies of the Seven Sisters. It lends that "other-world-ish" element to the tale. :-)
Pippin is a sweet, mannerly gentlehobbit -- he should have "deeply" bit her lip in response. :-X
Author's reply
It is easy to do, I miss more than my share of stories - no worries :-)
I'm so glad you enjoyed this story. Of the two written from these elements, this is my favorite.
I totally agree with you - he should have! LOL

Hmmm, now they'll have *three*, lol! I like to imagine that both couples had lots of children. I mean, what else was there to do in the winter?? :-P
You know how much I love the part of Merry waking up pregnant, lol. That was excellent! Kind of makes me hungry for strawberries and onions. ;-)
I truly enjoyed the chain of events/personas that brought Merry back to his senses, and in more than one fashion, so to speak. I absolutely love dream-tales, and I believe the Professor made great use of them in his epic tale.
I like Dreamflower's suggestion...unless I missed something, they all seemed as if they could be the same gold locket. Maybe Jeb or Other...? ;-)
Thank you so very much for the most excellent story! I wasn't easy on you, and I think you did a magnificent job in spite of me, lol!
Author's reply
Hugs and thanks m'dear Pippinfan!
There wasn't much else to do in the winter ;-) I also like to think that both couples had nice sized families.
I am so glad you like dream-tales, I was a bit concerned about that after I wrote it, seeing as they do get strange sometimes.
Who knows? We'll have to see if anything develops. ;-)
You are so welcome, my dear friend. I was so happy to do a story especially for you and I am so very glad you like it! :-)

Pearl, this was very different, and wonderfully so! I don't know how you come up with some of these original ideas, but I'm so glad you do. I love the eerie feeling this story invokes all the way through, and the way you connected the life, birth, death theme, and most of all the love. The descriptions were vivid and I could easily picture each character. Heh, it kind of reminded me of that old show "Quantum Leap" when Merry woke up as the pregnant lass!!
Loved Pippin's cheekiness and his teasing words to Merry!
I bet Pippinfan was very pleased with her tale, I know I certainly am!

Author's reply
Thank you Cathleen :-)
I'm glad you liked its differentness!
One of my favorite quotes is from Stephen King. Talking about the rock band he is in, comprised mostly of fellow authors, he said, "We never ask each other where we get our ideas; we know we don't know." ;-)
When she first read it, Pippinfan also mentioned that it reminded her of "Quantum Leap". It didn't inspire it though, unless extremely sub-consciously.
I'm glad the love showed through as that was what I really wanted the most.

Ah, how wonderful--and horrible!--to be caught momentarily in all those bodies, no matter how briefly; and to have at last the words of farewell he'd needed from his own father.
Clever and a bit frightening!
Author's reply
Thank you Larner :-)
I think that would be terribly frightening, although I was glad the last one was comforting as well. I think it would be very hard to have not said a proper goodbye.
Thank you :-)

· Chapter 50: A Day in Time
oops! Accidentally sent before I was finished!
I really liked the way you worked your way down the family tree--and the connection of the locket, and of Yule, and of death/birth as a theme. Was it the convergence of these events with First Yule that caused Merry's experience?
And I wonder if that locket might still be around in Jeb and Other's time? *hint*hint*
Author's reply
Well . . .
It wasn't necessarily meant to be the same locket, just that the other times had involved a gold locket and Frist Yule together, so I've mucked up there and not been clear.
Thank you for responding Dreamflower :-)

I love this as much on the third read as I did the first two! I know I've told you , but am enjoying telling you again, Pearl. The comparisons between Pip and Faramir's Yule gifts was wonderful, and as always, I adore Pip's enthusiasm.

Wow!! Awesome, Pearl! I absolutely enjoyed EVERY word. You have your Faramir and Boromir nailed down to a T! Loved the interaction between family members, no matter what Race, lol. Your knowledge of horses/ponies obviuosly came into play in this wonderful tale(s). Excellent and very well done!

A wonderfully lustrous pearl, my dear Pearl. I enjoyed this tale thoroughly. Pip's rocking horse is a delight! I am a child again every Yule season! You gave me a story to brighten my holiday. Thank you.

Oh Neilia, I'm so glad I helped brighten your holiday :-) I'm glad you liked the rocking horse!
Loved Faramir and Pippin together in this. This was lovely. I like stories that show Pippin and Faramir as close friends. Well done and a happy holiday to you! I will look forward to more of your wonderful stories in the new year!

Aw, thank you GW :-) I always did feel they would be close.

What a delightful ending. I love it when we find new links and bonds between our beloved characters.

Ah, sometimes we can only write from expirence right? that's how I wrote for a while (three years exactaly) before I let my imigination eleminite my character and therefore only leaving Merry and Pippin. I don't think I've ever shared any of my PRE Merry and Pippin only storys to anyone

I didn't mean to say "doing anything to make it true" Pippin wouldn't do that. he is trying everything to make it UNtrue. I don't think I'd ever write a story having Pippin kill Merry on purpose... that would be freaky

I like this alot, it reminds me of a story I'm writing called "Death is for nightmares"..... yeah the title sucks but I couldn't think of a better one. In that story Pippin has a nightmare he has killed Merry and he is stopping at nothing to make it true.... very unfinished lol

The perfect description of a young tweenager, and not some tweenager, but Pippin! That says all :)
Let's put some more chairs into the parlor and we can all join the three cousins in their blissful slumber!

*grin*
I read this at the internet cafe while my power at the house was down, but I didn't have time to comment then--I could *so* identify with Pippin and his cold feet. Almost every single night since it got so cold here, my husband will yell "Aghh! Your feet are cold!" when I get in bed.
Poor Pippin, poor Merry and poor Frodo--what a night of disasters! I've written Pippin as prowling around in the night myself, because he can't sleep, but this just beats all!
But I love the snuggly ending, with all the cousins sleeping happily in the parlor! Adorable--makes me want to snuggle up with them!
Author's reply
I'm glad I was able to provide you with a good read while your power was out. A bit of fun in the exasperating experience :-)
I know what you mean, I was wondering myself if there was another wing-backed chair in that parlor . . . ;-)
Thank you so much for making the time to read and for remembering to come back and review :-)
