I am so glad you said fini for now. There is so much more to tell and I am thoroughly enjoying this story. Eomer would definitely need a sprited wife.

This is funny...are these 2 smitten or what?! I love this side of Eomer you show us...very interesting. He's almost as sexy, sweet, caring and amusing as Aragorn....ALMOST! My heart still belongs to Estel, but Eomer is now enjoyable to read about, too! ;)
whitewave · 28 June 2008 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
Loved the tender moment! Alas I'm reduced to fangirl mode whenever I read such sweetness as this. I like how their mutual stubborness is so obvious from the start and holds a lot of promise for the future. I loved the "have you ever been in danger of being throttled" question of Eomer and her smart reply. I also appreciate how very credible you sound with the herbal remedies Lothy comes up--you must have done tons of research.
whitewave · 28 June 2008 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
The attraction between them is very obviously pleasing. Loved what Eomer did to her after she woke him up. My favorite line of Lothy here is "that is why your back is so heavily muscled," and I thoroughly enjoyed the branding iron dialogue.
whitewave · 28 June 2008 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
I've decided to read all your stories before doing the reviews because they are just so engrossing and I couldn't help myself. I've enjoyed them all very much--there were so many comedic moments and so well-written that I am a both glad that I've discovered them and a bit rueful that I did not discover them earlier. I just can't seem to get enough of Eomer and Lothy stories now and every new "scenario" is always very interesting to explore. If only this could be made into a movie! I enjoyed their first meeting here and appreciate how you provide subtle details or withhold them to great effect. Their personalities are well-drawn and I find myself hanging on to every word you write for them. I'd probably end up writing an extra long review per chapter if I were to say what I liked most but it is the only way I could think of to show my appreciation for such an enjoyable work.
Tira · 3 June 2007 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
Ai, how wonderful a start! I was just browsing the 'recent updates' and saw you had done part six, so I figured I would go back and read them all. Just finished this one, and quite frankly am now going onto the second. You are an engaging writer, and I absolutely love your master of this language even though it be your second. Your little insinuations add humour to the story "You are quite insistent on getting me into bed" lol. Beautiful! ~Tira
Bodkin · 1 December 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
Just gorgeous. I can just see how the healer would suddenly find herself suffering from a reaction to all the strain and rush and horror of the last few weeks. And Eomer, of course, has just the right kind of authority to make it possible for her to release some of her stress. Although being clasped to the Horselord's naked chest would bring certain stresses of its own! Lovely story. Delightful. Looking forward to seeing how it all develops.
Author's reply
I think, we can assume that the naked chest of this specific Horselord provides at least some "positive" stress. Which is considered quite healthy.
robnrun · 1 December 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
This is a lovely take on the meeting of these two, the dialogue and description of the scene is very well done. Your use of medieval models for description is quite successful. I take it this is a translation, in which case I applaud both the writer and the translator!
Author's reply
Writer and translator are one and the same but you may applaud the Beta (writer points upwards).
Nilmandra · 30 November 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
I love the banter and conversation - you are very good at dialogue. He really was intent on getting her to bed.. .at least he did not slip and say my bed!
Author's reply
Classical Freudian slip. Well, he was rather exhausted. And no damage done. She didn't get it anyway.
Kitty · 30 November 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

What an innocent!

. . hmm! Bei Deinem Namen sollte er Dir auffallen.
daw the minstrel · 30 November 2005 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
I'm so bad! I'm reading this at work but I was so happy to see this updated I couldn't resist. She took a step back and blinked, twice. He had tilted his head very slightly to the side, and there was that assessing gaze again. Here she was out of her league, and she knew it. And worse, this man knew it, too. He arched a single eyebrow and then let it slowly be joined by the other. There was a mocking challenge in his eyes. Her lips parted, but she had nothing to say, not a single word would come. There was nothing but air, and even that seemed in short supply. And then all of a sudden his expression softened, and a rueful and apologetic smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. His voice had lost its teasing tone and now showed genuine kindness. I really liked this passage. I liked the way you showed their emotions physically rather than telling us what they felt. Also loved the way she doesn't know the effect she has on his when she strokes his leg.
Author's reply
I'm worse. Sometimes I'm writing during lectures, but only if those are really dull like bio chemistry. (I hope no professor of mine is into fanfiction and reading this). And Lothíriel would be very surprised that you thought she had "stroken" this strangers leg. She had "examined" it. After all, she is a healer!
Imrahoil · 28 November 2005 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
"Are you well?" What a question! She had just been jumped at by a mountain of dripping wet, naked man. "Had I been marked by a hot iron, you surely would have noticed while visually examining me.” “Not if you were sitting on the mark.”

And this chapter was just as well done as the first one. What lovely sexual tension! This was a true pleasure to read.
daw the minstrel · 26 November 2005 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
This is very engaging. Eomer and Lothiriel are very well characterized by their actions and speech. I love Eomer in this-- very masculine! I also like the sense you give of knowing what his armor would be like and where it would buckle. Also, your setting is done cleanly and quickly. I'm so glad there's chapter 2 right there!
Author's reply
I live very close to an old castle and since I've been a child I love to stroll around its halls. They have plenty of wonderful original armours from the 13th to the 17th century. If I need some stimulus I just spend a rainy afternoon there.
Nilmandra · 26 November 2005 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
I spent my summers in college working on a road maintenance crew, and many of the men I worked with had been in Vietnam. I learned quickly never to walk up behind one and tap him on the shoulder! Poor Lothiriel... but poor Eomer more. I am sure he was appalled at himself. One can tell that Lothiriel has grown up around sassy older brothers, and she handles Eomer with remarkable wit. I like this portrayal of her... and indeed, she is fitting for the culture she will marry into.
Author's reply
The idea of Éomer's reaction came when a friend of us who is married to a member of a special force unit warned us not to try to wake him in case he may fall asleep. We joked that she must live dangerously sharing a bed with him but she assured us that that is not a problem - he is used to her being there.
Bodkin · 26 November 2005 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
Just love the chemistry. Lothiriel responds to Eomer in such a natural way - she can hardly believe it of herself. Even when he has just done his best to kill her, she carries it off. I'm not surprised he is impressed. I doubt that - with the exception of Eowyn - he has met many girls who are confident enough to put him in his place. Or, indeed, who are so competent in their area of expertise. Love it.
Author's reply
I don't think she had realized that she had been nearly killed. She wouldn't react much differently if a big dog had jumped up on her.
Lily · 26 November 2005 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
I love the way you portray the two... do continue
Author's reply
I glad you like the way I chose to characterize those two.
Elendiari22 · 26 November 2005 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
Well, I must say that I am thoroughly glad that I clicked on this story tonight. Even though your Eomer and Lothiriel haven't been officially named, I like them very much. So many fics portray Lothiriel as a sheltered princess that I was a bit startled by her pragmatic tone at first. However, I like your Lothiriel, and I am eager to see more of her. Your Eomer, too, is perfect, what with his pride about being treated by a healer, his frank appraisal of Lothiriel, and his veiled sense of power. I was amused by the way he pulled his shirt off to make Lothiriel twitch, and his sarcastic response to her "big tub, hot water" speech. These two are going to have an interesting relationship. Looking forward to more! ~El
Author's reply
I think I can promise that those two continue to find each other quite interesting - or perhaps rather confusing.
Imrahoil · 25 November 2005 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
I can treat myself", "I can treat it myself" wäre besser, 2.: Rohir.
"Rohirrim" bedeutet also übersetzt "Volk der Pferdeherren". Nachzulesen in "Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-earth." Kapitel Samstag Abend online.
Nilmandra · 24 November 2005 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
I am glad to see this up, Madeleine! (and glad Bodkin could help so quickly!). This first chapter completely drew me into the life of Lothiriel the healer, and I very much enjoyed her meeting with Eomer. Both characters were drawn so well in this opening. I love the idea that this high born woman of Gondor was serving in the Healing Houses, and I liked her reaction to this horse lord of Rohan. That it was the beginning of somethign was evident, but what was not entirely clear. I look forward to (re)reading more.
Author's reply
I'm glad you put me in touch with Bodkin. It worked out wonderfully and she was a great help. Having done a little research I was surprise to find that many high born women in the Medieval Ages were actually "working". Our idea of the lazy aristocrats comes from later centuries.

Maddy, I'm so pleased that you are posting this here! I have been following your E/L stories on that other site for quite awhile now and loving them, but I'm too much of a lazy-arse to log in over there in order to review. You write excellent E/L, without a doubt some of the best E/L fics I've ever read, and I've read a lot. Keep up the good work!

Bodkin · 24 November 2005 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
I do like the way these two characters respond to each other. They're busy picking up all sorts of clues as well as dealing with the obvious, too. The healer is from a wealthy background - somewhat naive, but experienced in her craft - with the confidence to command large, smelly warriors. She can't help but be interesting! Whereas the warrior is showing himself to be disconcertingly in control of himself - and clearly expects to be in control of his surroundings. Well matched! But there is a lot of potential for confusion here - I'm pleased to say. I look forward to more.
Author's reply
Once again, thank you for your quick help. I think those two are very different, and someone very unlike yourself will always capture your interest much quicker - in one way or the other.
