Larner · 6 May 2006 · Chapter 6: The Discovery

Yes, after many of the shocks Eomer is getting right now, he needs a glass of wine right now. At least he now knows with whom he's been flirting, and realizes she may indeed have been flirting back! Poor guy--he's smitten and half taken already! He may as well give up.

Alison H · 5 May 2006 · Chapter 8: The Dance

I really enjoyed this chapter, especially Eomer's disarming of Erchirion after he called Lothiriel by her pet name.He is a King after all and Lothiriel didn't mind.A confidant Eomer in pursuit of his goals is very, very attractive! The series of dances were lovely in their description and I laughed at Eomer's eagerness to claim Lothiriel for every one with close contact---though it seems that Lothiriel relishes the touching, too. Now, who wouldn't? No wonder Imrahil is watching them thoughtfully! Now, if I was Lothiriel and Eomer spoke to me so passionately about my hair then I would probably faint! The fact that Lothiriel smiled at him was very sweet and Eomer has truly been snared, quite willingly, by Imrahil's daughter. Oh, and elves can be sneaky, too.The wine tasting was hilarious and I hope Beren is out of it for the morning ride.I can't wait to read more. Update soon. Ali.

Author's reply

I am not sure he realises he's been snared though. Let's hope Gimli and Legolas have done their stuff! LBJ

harrowcat · 24 April 2006 · Chapter 7: The Feast

I enjoyed catching up with this Lady Bluejay. Looking forward to more.

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed - more next week. LBJ

Alison H · 23 April 2006 · Chapter 7: The Feast

Ha, I loved this chapter! I was so happy to see an update. Now, what did I love about this chapter? Let me see... Gandalf's riddles, Eomer's confusion,Eomer's concern for Frodo, his almost drooling over Lothiriel, Pippin and Merry's covert eating habits, Aragorn's knowing looks and last of all--Eomer's heart-stopping realisation that Lothiriel may love another.Dun dun duuun!! *That* was certainly unexpected and made Eomer realise that he better get his skates on if he wants Lothiriel for himself. The riding excursion should be *very* interesting. Keep up the excellent work and I can't wait for more. Ali.

Author's reply

You seem to have liked all of it then - I am glad. It's not only Eomer that has self doubts - sometime it,s authors as well. Thanks for the review. LBJ

Bodkin · 23 April 2006 · Chapter 7: The Feast

Poor Eomer! Self doubt does not become him. Just as his mood lifts, kersplam he's back down. Maybe Lothiriel isn't Amrothos's sweetheart - but she might love AN Other. This riding party is going to take up half the population of Minas Tirith soon! Eomer won't get a chance to talk to Faramir at all - he'll be too busy stewarding the party. And Lothiriel will avoid that intent Eomer King stare - always providing the drooling doesn't put her off anyway. Thing are moving nicely. I'm not surprised Gandalf is amused!

Author's reply

I have a feeling that the riding party will get even bigger! Yes, its funny Eomer has never doubted himself before it just shows the afeect a woman can have!LBJ

MithLuin · 18 April 2006 · Chapter 6: The Discovery

Well, he had to find out eventually.... but I do think it funny that everyone else figured out his interest so... publically. I imagine the riding outing will be interesting. Eowyn wants to show off Faramir, but now Eomer is going to be thoroughly distracted by her friend ;). Picking up on girls under their brothers noses can hardly be comfortable! (for Eomer or Faramir, anyway)

Author's reply

I think Eomer and Faramir will come to an understanding - they may even help each other out! LBJ

Bodkin · 18 April 2006 · Chapter 6: The Discovery

Yay! Eomer's learned his Nessas from his Niennas! And now he's inconveniently got Amrothos and Nienna coming on this morning ride! How he's going to share his attention among Faramir, Eowyn, Amrothos, Nienna and Lothiriel I cannot begin to imagine! Good to see Eomer reacting just as his sister wants him to. He might as well give in now, really. He knows he wants to! I like the chaos of the early stages of a party - with no-one in the right place or doing or saying exactly what is expected. Male competition between Faramir and Eomer too - the traditional can-I-break-your-hand grip! Do they never grow up? And bemused Eomer is very entertaining. Lothiriel doesn't stand a chance now he knows she available for the hunt. (Mind you, I don't think she'll mind the pursuit!)

Author's reply

Intresting you mentioned The Hunt as I was going to call one chapter - The Chase - but it may not work out. And no, the never grow up!LBJ

Bodkin · 12 April 2006 · Chapter 5: The Meeting

Eomer is going to wish he'd worked more on his memory! One Valier isn't just like any other. He might also end up hoping that he catches on before two young ladies realise he is on another planet and decide to torment him further. M'mm. Picturing Eomer standing in the sun waiting for his hair to dry ... I suspect 'Nessa' finds the view quite appealing. And then, he is so clearly distracted in her company. She and Eowyn could have a lot of fun on that ride. The one that Amrothos will not mind her taking with the King of Rohan. Because he is probably otherwise engaged. Potential for confusion: great.

harrowcat · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 5: The Meeting

Oh I am glad that I am not the only reviewer who is screaming at the computer about mistaken identity! *g* Poor Eomer. But I do think the idea that it would take 12 seconds for Eomer to propose is overly long! I think 2 might be nearer!

MithLuin · 11 April 2006 · Chapter 5: The Meeting

Poor silly Eomer, not realizing that it is his friend's _sister_, not his intended ;). Mistaken identity stories are fun, and you are painting such a nice picture of Eomer and Eowyn, and his friendships with Aragorn and Elfhelm as well. I hope we see more of Aragorn soon!

Larner · 10 April 2006 · Chapter 5: The Meeting

Ah, mistaken identity is always so fun to deal with! Beautiful details, and lovely drawing out of the tension here. I find I do like it a good deal.

Alison H · 10 April 2006 · Chapter 5: The Meeting

Am I realllly, reallly wide of the mark in thinking that Nessa is Lothiriel? There were plenty of clues in this chapter---or are you just out to tease your readers? A very enjoyable chapter and I loved Nessa's(Lothiriel's?) bright chatter and confident manner.Oh, and she was surprised that Eomer would think it a problem with Amorothos if she went riding with him.....mmm Love this story and can't wait for the next chapter! Ali.

lark · 10 April 2006 · Chapter 5: The Meeting

you absolutely can't write fast enough for me. poor Eomer. how shocked will he be when he finds out her true identity? I imagine you'll need to draw that out as long as possible; with this setup, it will take him approx. 12 seconds to ask Imrahil for her hand!

Bodkin · 6 April 2006 · Chapter 4: The Bath

There's something about this chapter that is just delightful. And it's not due to Eomer's state of undress! It's simply charming. I love the way the King of Rohan feels the need to safeguard his virtue. And Elfhelm's need to introduce Eomer to some of the odder elements of bathing traditions in Gondor. And Elfhelm's assessment of Faramir is spot on. I think he's onto a loser with choosing a blonde bride, though.

Author's reply

Hi Bodkin, I thought he was a bit mean - barricading the door and leaving a dissapointed housemaid! I think you may be right about the bride. Thanks for reading and reviewing. LBJ

Larner · 5 April 2006 · Chapter 4: The Bath

So--he's not yet cottoned to the fact that by the time a sponge finds its way into a bathroom it's already well dead? Poor Eomer! And he is already being set up, it appears. That IS Lothiriel out there, isn't it, rather than Amrothos's intended? I certainly hope so! Love the description of the bathroom and its facilities.

Author's reply

Hi Larner, Poor Eomer is going to be confused about more than the sponge! Thanks for the review. LBJ

Bodkin · 2 April 2006 · Chapter 3: The Speech

Very sweet Eomer/Eowyn moment there. I love seeing Eomer being all big-brotherly. But a gem has to be Eowyn struggling to get Eomer to comb his hair as they walk along the corridor. And she's planning on match-making for him. (Long dark hair and sparkling grey eyes, by any chance? On a maiden not found in a tavern.) Eomer is a warrior's king, too. He's great with his men - and caring towards them too. I don't think he'll have any difficulty winning their hearts - if he hasn't already.

Author's reply

Watch out for more about his hair - she seems to have a thing about it. The thing is I just think he is such a nice guy! LBJ

Larner · 31 March 2006 · Chapter 3: The Speech

The camaraderie is wonderful. And now--the dreaded speech! Yes, good and proper for the new King of the Mark.

Author's reply

I always go to sleep listening to speeches! LBJ

Larner · 31 March 2006 · Chapter 2: The Crown

She's being obstinately quiet, isn't she? She'd best speak soon. I also had messengers take advantage of the weeks in Ithilien to obtain fresh clothing for those of Rohan.

Author's reply

I have always thought someone must have provided clothes. Once I had Eomer wearing some of Boromir's. Once Lothiriel sent a load from Dol Amroth. LBJ

Bodkin · 26 March 2006 · Chapter 2: The Crown

the effect was spoilt, he just looked like Aragorn dressed up. I suspect that the rather kingly-appearing Eomer fears that he just looks like the Third Marshal dressed up in borrowed splendour. And I don't blame Eowyn at all for keeping his good clothes in a large bedroom in the Citadel. I loved seeing him looking for Eowyn and watching jealously over her and Faramir - even as he feels a tug of attraction to the girl who ends up hugging Amrothos. Riding in the morning. Well - he couldn't really expect to spend much time in Faramir's company any earlier than that. Not with the business of coronations and power transfers under way. He's being very sweet about it all really. But Eowyn? Shopping for ribbons and lace and fal-lals like that? She must be in love!

Author's reply

Glad you liked that line. I was a favorite of mine. It always struck me that the clothes had to come from somewhere and I enjoy finding explanations for things Tolkien does not tell us! LBJ

Alison H · 26 March 2006 · Chapter 2: The Crown

Oh, oh! Eomer is *very* attracted to Nienna and even Eowyn has noticed. Not good at all.He will have to control his manly urges, methinks, if he wants to remain friends with Imrahil and his family.Interesting that Eomer falls for a woman named Nienna. I like the fact that Eowyn sent away to Edoras for more refined clothes for Eomer to wear for the coronation and feast days afterwards. The Rohirrim probably had to deal with being thought of as heathens by the Gondorians for many years--but Eomer does scrub up well! Poor Eowyn, being teased by her brother! I'm glad that he's happy for her and told her that Faramir die well in the ceremony. She's feeling very vulnerable and needs her big brother to accept Faramir as her future husband.I can't wait until Eomer and Faramir meet face to face! Great work, LBJ, and I'm looking forward to more of your story. Ali.

Author's reply

I would certainly think he scrubs up well. Look out for more about scrubbing and a bit more teasing.LBJ

RS · 24 March 2006 · Chapter 1: The Cloak

Hi. I left a review on this story at another site. So glad you have it here. Just want to let you know again that I am enjoying this. I love the comradery. I can picture Aragon and Eomer giggling about the cloak Gandalf has prepared for Aragorn. Poor Gandalf!.."pageantry is very important". I'm not sure if the ceremony will occur without any "shannanigans" with the hobbits there! Poor Pippin! Always putting his hairy hobbit foot in his mouth!! Can't wait for the update!

Author's reply

You will have to wait a few chapters for more hobbits.LBJ

Larner · 24 March 2006 · Chapter 1: The Cloak

Gandalf as costume coordinator for the coronation of Aragorn! Love it! And quite an interesting way to spend their last night together before Aragorn must take up fully his role as King of Gondor and High King of Men.

Author's reply

I always did think that Gandalf instigated it. He insisted Frodo wore a sword!LBJ

Bodkin · 24 March 2006 · Chapter 1: The Cloak

I like Aragorn and Eomer sniggering over the apparel considered suitable for kings. And laughing over Gandalf's theatrical streak. Pippin is not showing himself as the sharpest knife in the drawer, though. Needs to know when to keep his mouth shut! Eomer took it quite well though. And the theatrical Gandalf more or less told him Eowyn and Faramir's relationship was fated to be, so live with it! Amrothos's true love is coming, then - but not Lothiriel? How is our orc-slaying Horse-Lord to meet Imrahil's daughter, then? Looking forward to more.

Author's reply

All will be revealed, but not yet.LBJ

another devoted tolkien fan · 23 March 2006 · Chapter 1: The Cloak

I like it a lot so far! Please write next chapter from lothiriel's point of view! P.S. I liked all your other stories about Eomer and Lothiriel. Didn't read the R rated one though. hee-hee. not really ready for that yet.

Author's reply

Glad you like it, but I am afraid you will have to put up with Eomer's POV. A lot is already written. LBJ

Alison H · 23 March 2006 · Chapter 1: The Cloak

This was wonderful! I do like your Eomer/Lothiriel stories and this one seems very intrigueing from the start. That the gang were all together before Aragorn's coronation, with Imrahil and his sons',was particularly enjoyable--but Pippin, of course, had to put his foot in it again. The tension from Eomer was palpable and Pippin was lucky that Eomer already knew of Faramir's quality! I'm looking forward to meeting your Lothiriel and then the real fun will begin when Eomer realises that *she* is the one for him. Can't wait. Update soon! Ali.

Author's reply

I am afraid you will not meet her for a while! LBJ
