Baggins Babe · 17 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
Ooooh! This was all so wonderful I'd have to quote all of it! The image of Aragorn and the hobbits all tucked up safe and cosy has turned me into a little puddle. I really hope our beloved Ranger-King wakes up in the middle of a hobbit-pile. :-)) Trust Pippin to deliver an interesting snippet of news and then fall asleep! Aragorn will be consumed with curiosity until he's heard about Faramir and Eowyn. Lovely, lovely story!
Author's reply
Puddles are my favorite things (next to hobbits)! What a compliment. I have to scoop you up and hug you. Yes, Poor Aragorn. Tweens do tend to flit from one subject to the next, and then... zzzzzzzzz!
Queen Galadriel · 17 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
Oh, such a sweet, warm, cosy chapter! Just what I needed after a long, exhausting day and lots of rain. Guess what my favourite part was? :) At that moment it began to rain again, the gentle thud of each drop slightly muffled by the wooden roof. “Mmm,” Frodo murmured. He smiled and turned over, his hand seeking out Sam’s. “Rain, Sam…” “They draw comfort from one another even in sleep,” Gandalf observed, as Sam’s fingers curled gently around Frodo’s. “And they are healing very quickly,” Aragorn agreed quietly. “It is quite remarkable. Perhaps they will not need another full week, at that; a few more days and...” “That’s good,” Pippin yawned again. “You said I could get up when they do.” “Rascal.” Gandalf chuckled quietly and walked off. Yes, they are indeed healing quickly, and I'm so glad Frodo can draw such comfort from the sound of the rain and from his Sam...and vice versa, I'm sure. Oh, Pippin, some things never change! LOL! Now I'm going to have to write something about rain and Hobbity love. :) God bless, Galadriel
Author's reply
"Now I'm going to have to write something about rain and Hobbity love. :)" Eeeee, I hope you do! It's so lovely to be all safe and warm and dry when rain is pattering on the roof. :D I'm so glad you enjoyed this section. It was comforting to write.
PIppinfan1988 · 17 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
Ahhhh....the sound of rain upon a roof--or just the sound of rain, period. So soothing, relaxing. :-) It's so nice to see Frodo turning and mumbling in his sleep; the hobbis are healing up nicely under your--I mean, Aragorn's hand. Wouldn't that be lovely for Aragorn to wake up smothered between hobbits? And that insatiable Pippin...just wonderful! Pippinfan
Author's reply
I love the sound of rain -- when I'm indoors, or in a tent! Awww, everyone all snuggled together. What could be better? *smuggles you in next to Pippin*
Andrea · 17 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
“Mmm,” Frodo murmured. He smiled and turned over, his hand seeking out Sam’s. “Rain, Sam…” Wonderful! From what Frodo and Sam have been through the sound of rain must be like music to them! And the image of Merry, fallen asleep from exhaustion, unwillingly, I bet, but he still tries to protect his cousins. Although, now it is Pippin, holding *his* hand. I love that imagine!
Author's reply
Oh, I love that particular line you highlighted! Frodo just had to sense all the comfort and safety around him. :D
Grey Wonderer · 17 April 2006 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three
That story about Lady Eowyn and Faramir was the one Aragorn might have enjoyed hearing. LOL Too bad Pip chose that moment to fall asleep. I like the image of all of them sleeping through the storm along with Strider.
Author's reply
Maybe Pip will talk in his sleep! Yes, isn't it cozy too imagine everyone all bedded down, safe and warm?
Antane · 16 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Hobbit TLC -- what could be more comforting? :D
Baggins Babe · 16 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
Yes, I wonder what the Men must think, watching their wonderful healer-King tending to the Ring-bearers. A beautiful picture, Shirebound. “Strider, are you sure that’s just milk he’s drinking? Tooks get a bit incoherent when they hit the pubs, you know.” This made me giggle! Trust a hobbit to ask the practical questions.
Author's reply
I love to view the hobbits through the eyes of others, especially when those others are respectful and appreciative.
Aragorn · 15 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
Nice job, This story is really cool. Its a great gapfiller and the way you explained how the hobbits felt for eachother. I'm adding this one to my favorites! Great job.
Author's reply
Thank you, Aragorn! I'm enjoying filling in this "gap", and hope to have another chapter up by Monday. :D
Grey Wonderer · 14 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
I still laugh when I read the way Pippin is attempting to explain the difference between unconcious and sleeping! Such a lovely chapter and Merry with Frodo! Wonderful!
Author's reply
Pippin is just so very... Pippin! And Merry truly needed to feel for himself that his cousin wasn't in pain or distress.
Grey Wonderer · 14 April 2006 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
I love Gimli in this story. He is so sweet and so very in character. He and Pippin are interesting together. I like the way Gimli looks after Pippin since saving his life.
Author's reply
Thank you, GW. I think Gimli shows "his quality" over and over when it comes to loyalty to his friends -- especially the young hobbits.
Linda Hoyland · 14 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
I am glad you adress the issue of how Frodo and Sam managed to eat. I love the humour in this chapter.Aragorn certainly has his hands full !
Author's reply
There have been a lot of imaginings in fanfic about how the Ring-bearers were nourished during this time (or even if they needed to be), and it's interesting how we all have different ways of writing about it. :D
Tigger · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
Got to love how Pippin really did try to get Aragorn to give him leave to get out of bed, but Aragorn wasn't having any of it. Oh well...Pip *did* have to try. :oD Poor Merry...That first look at Frodo and Sam could not have been easy. Pippin's explanation of sleeping and being unconcious was very logical. Which considering I always feel Merry's the logical one of the four, is a nice difference for once. And that mental image of Aragorn holding a bundled in a blanket Frodo..Sigh!! Just the right touch of fluff for such a serious chapter. No wonder the wounded Men couldn't keep a smile off their face seeing a King who heals. I'm sure the thought that the Lord Denethor wouldn't have dared stooped to such a thing was also passing through those men's minds. Once again, another example of the changing Age and era. What a perfect ending. The fact Gimli had brought their supper was a *very* important thing. ;oD Looking forward to more of this my friend. :o)
Author's reply
That's a great perception, Tigger. Soldiers who had grown used to the rather impersonal and regimented (and perhaps humorless) way Denethor most likely ruled would have been astonished by what they were seeing here. A compassionate and wise healer-King is a marvelous thing indeed. As are heartwarming, delightful hobbits! I just don't know what's the matter with me, though. How did that fluff sneak in? :D
Elanor Silmariën · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
So glad to see this here! Now I shall put this on my favorites and read it again! I love this story! God bless, Ellie
Author's reply
Thank you, Elanor. What a lovely compliment. :D
Pearl Took · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
I'm late to the party, as seems to be happening all too often lately. This is beautiful! The Men being honored to have the Hobbits in their tent. Gimli watching over Pip. Merry getting to hold Frodo. Beautiful :)
Author's reply
How can feedback ever be late, or unappreciated? Pearl, the party is wherever you are. I'm so happy you're enjoying this. :D
PIppinfan1988 · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
They’re all alive. All three. I still can’t believe it. He shook himself out of his tumbling thoughts. This was an excellent, sweet reunion between the wakeful/sleeping hobbits! So very Merry, too! I want can hardly wait to see what transpires when Frodo and Sam wake--I know you have something special up your sleeve. :-) (snicker)...Pippin's still trying to get out of bed... Pippinfan
Author's reply
I do love reunions, especially loving and sweet ones. Yes, Pip will obey his King and healer, but I suspect that he'll be on his feet the second he's allowed to be. :D
Frodo Baggins · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Hi, Shirebound, Once in a great while, I used to get over to LJ and would delight when I'd find one of your plotbunnies hatched and smiling. I'm glad I found this place and another of your delightful tales. I'll keep watching for the rest of this! It is delightful. I very, very much like it! Agape

Andrea · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
“Strider, are you sure that’s just milk he’s drinking? Tooks get a bit incoherent when they hit the pubs, you know.” LOL!!! That's wonderful! Merry only wanted to test Pippin's reaction, I think, to ensure and to comprehend that his cousin is really alright. Well, the test worked ;-) I agree with Pippin that it was good that Merry did not arrive earlier to see Frodo and Sam in a much worse state. Even now he is shocked to see Frodo's wounds. He would have worried himself sick. (Can I say so? My dictionnary is leaving me rather alone here! I'll never stop learning English, but I like it!)
Author's reply
Your English is marvelous, Andrea. (And the rest of us are still learning, as well! I don't think it ever really stops.) I'm glad you enjoyed this reunion scene. I like it when hobbits are reassured by knowing that the others are nearby.
harrowcat · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
Pippin smiled happily at the sight, but soon he needed to disturb Merry for something very important. “Gimli’s back. It's time for supper!” I wish it was here too. It feels a very long time since lunch! Just dropped in for a peep on my second busiest day of the year and couldn't resist reading straight away! Ah, just picturing relaxed and sleeping hobbits is enough to bring by blood pressure down. Thanks Shirebound, just what I needed!
Author's reply
Relaxed hobbits certainly make *me* feel more peaceful! It's a pleasure to share them with you. :D
Queen Galadriel · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
The wounded Men, mindful of the privacy of the small folk, tried to look elsewhere, but the sight of their new healer-King tending to the Ring-bearers’ needs was impossible to ignore. The courageous little ones, swathed in blankets and being lovingly tended, brought smiles to the lips of the most battle-hardened soldier. Aragorn pressed a gentle hand to Frodo’s brow and murmured something in Elvish, whereupon Frodo sighed, obviously relaxed and peacefully dreaming. Merry wrapped his arms around Frodo, closed his eyes, and contentedly felt his cousin’s deep, regular breathing, and the steady heartbeat. Awwwww! What a sweet chapter! And I just love those little Frodo-Merry moments. :) Poor Merry, so dazed, and concerned by the thinness of his cousin and friend. Pippin is obviously more comfortable, though, now that his Merry has arrived. :) God bless, Galadriel
Author's reply
There was a real need for some Frodo cuddling, and I think Merry would definitely want to have his turn. Sometimes we have to actually feel someone in our arms to comprehend that they're there, and all right. Thank you for highlighting so many passages! :D
Lin · 13 April 2006 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two
Ah, the brightness and cheer of this version of Cormallen is wonderful! I especially liked this part: “Strider, are you sure that’s just milk he’s drinking? Tooks get a bit incoherent when they hit the pubs, you know.” But it was so nice to see Beregond, and hear of Bergil, and to see Merry reassured, and Pippin "getting up" to his tricks.
Author's reply
Thank you, Lin. It's comforting to imagine "hobbits being hobbits", whatever their circumstances. "D
Baggins Babe · 12 April 2006 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
You really have Gimli to perfection here. I love the way he anticipates what Pippin is thinking. And how that delivery from Minas Tirith must have helped!
Author's reply
Thank you so much. It took me a long time to figure out how to write Gimli. That sweetie-pie.
Tigger · 10 April 2006 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
Wow!! What a great chapter. Loved the image of Gimli hovering over Pippin and figuring out in advance what Pippin was thinking/worrying about. Oh and one other thing that came from Minas Tirith... ;o) Great job m'dear. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's reply
Yes, that 'delivery' from Minas Tirith did bring a lot of wonderful things (and a certain wonderful hobbit). Thank you! :D
Linda Hoyland · 10 April 2006 · Chapter 1: Chapter One
Pippin is such a lovable Hobbit.I especially enjoyed the way Gimli knew he was about to wake up !
Author's reply
I'm having such a good time imagining these scenes. Gimli has such a difficult time hiding affection for his hobbits, especially this one. :D
