NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! *another clif* It've been a while since your last update... i hope next chapter will be sooner... Take care, Innolder

Author's reply

I'm afraid so. Another cliff. They do tend to crop up a lot, don't they? :o) I hope so, too.

harrowcat · 13 March 2007 · Chapter 12

impending torture and death. Can they take any more? Can We? (avidly awaits the next update!)

Author's reply

That's Pickett's plan, anyway. I suspect they can and will and so will all of you. :o)

kaytee · 8 March 2007 · Chapter 12

Good comfort scene for these two. Legolas now has the use of his arm back, at least partially. He should heal very quickly if given a little bit of time. Aragorn will be hurting for quite the while though. Now to get free. Let's see Legolas will be able to get to the knife in a few hours and they can then cut their way free. They need to start a fight between the trolls and escape while the trolls are arguing between themselves. Pickett is going to do the same things Hatch did, but one of the other trolls will take it into their head to take over the leadership. Isn't Pickett hurt, too? Even a troll should feel burns for a while. Hope you can update quickly.

Author's reply

Thank you. Yes, and the trick is to get that time to heal. I like how you think that Legolas and Aragorn can get free and make their escape. They just need the trolls to cooperate with whatever plans they come up with. I'll pass your ideas along to the plot bunny. :o) Pickett's burns will be mentioned again. I'll update as soon as I can manage it.

Larner · 8 March 2007 · Chapter 12

How like a troll--"You two are going to die tonight." Pickett has lost what chance he might have had toward redemption, I fear. Now, to get that knife dug up!

Author's reply

I think the only thing on Pickett's mind right now is revenge for all the abuse he suffered in his pathetic life. You are *so* right. We'll see how that goes.

harrowcat · 22 February 2007 · Chapter 11

Now come on boys, play nicely with your toys! *Shudders and cold sweats!*

Author's reply

Do you really think that is going to happen? :o) Your reactions are good ones, I'm afraid.

Larner · 16 February 2007 · Chapter 11

Oh, dear, Picket is indeed going to follow in Hatch's footsteps, and what will happen now is the question. But has he forgetten the key to the locks is missing? The cages won't hold them long, I fear.

Author's reply

Pickett will make many of the trolls pay. Whatever happens to Legolas and Aragorn now won't be good, that's for sure. The two middle cages are not locked, so the trolls will have to secure them some other way. Let's hope L & A can get away before things get too bad.

Larner · 16 February 2007 · Chapter 10

Our clever, capable Elf just won one battle; but Aragorn's observations stand. And now they have act very quickly. Time to get moving, however they do it. Glad to see the end of Hatch.

Kaytee · 16 February 2007 · Chapter 11

Ignore the last review. My machine isn't following directions. No, do I sense more owies for our heroes? Not together!! Nooo, they need to share a cage for some comfort scenes. Legolas needs his arm treated so he can help in the next escape attempt. Can they actually end up in separate cages? I thought the original two cages are still locked and no key. The other knife is in the middle cage they need to end up in it. Of course the cage could be tied shut in such a way that they can't untie it. As always, I eagerly await your next update. So make it soon. Please? Thanks for this one coming so quickly.

Author's reply

Of course, you sense more owies. :o) They definitely need some comfort and tending to from each other, but Pickett has other ideas. The smaller cages are locked, but the two middle ones are not. And the other knife is buried in the one they were both in before, so one of them will be able to get to it. That is about the only good thing they have going right now. You can bet the trolls will secure the cages somehow. I will get the next chapter out as soon as I can manage it.

harrowcat · 9 February 2007 · Chapter 10

This chapter really made me shiver. And that last sentence.... ooh dear!

Author's reply

I hope your shiver was a good thing. :o) More shivers?

kaytee · 3 February 2007 · Chapter 10

Go Legolas! All right! Great moves on the elf's part. Are they free or will be once someone can get to the knife. Aragorn still has the knife. Good. Now to somehow free an arm. Do I sense a round of canniblism on the part of the trolls? Will they decide to eat their leader and then argue about who will be the next leader? Trolls aren't real smart and with the smartest one dead the rest should be confused and arguing amongst themselves. This should leave our heroes a chance to escape. Meanwhile where are their horses? Couldn't they escape and head back to Imladris? I think our heroes wouldn't object to a little help from the twins. Even if the twins will never let them live it down. I can just hear them now. "How dumb of you to cross troll territory. Do you have a death wish?" Hurry with the next update. I can hardly wait to see what happens next.

Author's reply

Legolas took the only chance he felt he would have, and he did good. Getting to the knife Aragorn has won't be easy. We'll have to see how/if they manage that. No cannibalism. You are probably right about the arguing, though. There may be a chance to escape while that's going on. Then again, maybe not. Their horses are still at the camp. As for being helped by the twins, I'm afraid they aren't in this one. L/A will have to survive on their own. If the twins were to get involved, they would surely react exactly the way you describe. I will update as soon as I can manage it.

Larner · 23 January 2007 · Chapter 9

Indeed--reason to fear. Poor Picket--bet he's happy to be back in his cage. Now to find out how these two fare at the hands of their "hosts."

Author's reply

Indeed it is reason to fear. Pickett will need some time to nurse his latest humiliation. Hatch does have plans for the guys, and it won't be pleasant.

Calenlass Greenleaf · 20 January 2007 · Chapter 9

Oh dear...did it have to be another cliffie? Well, now i have the chance to think about what are you going to do with those two...just don't injure them too badly...ok? LOL. An impossible task. they both are so...TORTURABLE!

Author's reply

Of course, it did. :o) There's that lovely word again. Torturable is so appropriate. You'll find out soon what's going to happen to the guys.

Kaytee · 19 January 2007 · Chapter 9

NO! Not the gauntlet. That is new. I don't think I have seen it used before in any other fic. More pain for our ranger and elf. Good, oops, shouldn't have said that. Will Elrond get to put them back together again or will it be Mirkwood's turn. I know, have them go to Lothlorien for healing. Galadriel can deal with them for a change. Maybe Gandalf can find them. Will Treco show up this time? A dragon would be a big help in their situation. Any ways. Hurry up and post the next chapter. I can hardly wait.

Author's reply

Yes, the gauntlet. I don't think I've ever read about one, either. I love your choices for places to go for healing our heroes. We'll have to wait and see where and with whom they end up. Treco flying them away, as the trolls reach for them would be nice scene, however, he isn't planned for this story. More soon.

harrowcat · 10 January 2007 · Chapter 9

Hmm.... definitely not a chapter to read over my breakfast! But compelling nonetheless!

Author's reply

I don't think I'd want to read this over breakfast, either, or anything else that might recently have been near a fire. :o) Thanks. I'm glad you liked it.

Kaytee · 19 December 2006 · Chapter 8

Foreshadowing. Do they succeed in a second escape attempt or do they gather a few more injuries first. Only the author knows and she isn't telling. I guess I will have to wait for the next chapter. Hurry and post it soon. The suspense is killing me. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas.

Author's reply

I'm afraid that you are right. I can't reveal what's going to happen just yet. It'll be after the first of the year before I can post again, but hang in there. That won't be too long. Merry Christmas to you, too, and a Happy New Year.

harrowcat · 16 December 2006 · Chapter 8

Well back to square one...well almost! At least they have a fighting chance now.

Author's reply

They do have a bit more of a chance now that they have Legolas's knives. Let's hope they can keep them. :o)

Larner · 15 December 2006 · Chapter 8

Good ol', dependably stupid Picket. He is a loser, has been a loser, and probably will remain a loser ever. And at least it will take a time for Hatchet to realize the knives are back. Bless them for speaking Sindarin.

Author's reply

You hit the nail on the head. Picett is certainly a loser. Unfortunately, he is also a troll, and stupid or not, he has a troll's nature, and that isn't good. Yes, bless them indeed.

Larner · 2 December 2006 · Chapter 7

Pickett is there, too? Oh, dear. How did he get out?

Author's reply

Yes, he is, and oh dear is a good expression, in this case. It will be explained in the next chapter. :o)

harrowcat · 1 December 2006 · Chapter 7

Ugh, your description of that Troll's abode is almost too good! Great chapter but got to dash this morning sorry!

Author's reply

If I had made it any more descirptive, it would have been too disgusting to read. :o) That's all right. I understand being in a hurry.

Idril Celebrindal · 30 November 2006 · Chapter 7

Oh jeez! I thought for sure they were getting away!

Author's reply

You can never be sure about those two until you see the words The End. :o)

harrowcat · 11 November 2006 · Chapter 6

Oh I am so glad that they are out of those cages even if it means being up a tree for hours. No offence meant to the tree of course!

Author's reply

Well, you know Legolas is comfortable, and Aragorn would much rather be there than in a cage. I'm sure no offence was taken. :o)

kaytee · 10 November 2006 · Chapter 6

Whew! They are safe for now. Now where are their weapons. Oh, right there, wait a a minute who is that observing them? Pickett you say. Oh, no. Well done chapter. Now if they can collect their weapons, and horses and finish their escape. Silly troll looking right at the elf and not recognizing what he was seeing. Can their escape be this easy. I doubt that. It wouldn't be their kind of luck to escape on the first try. Besides they aren't hurt enough yet. One of them usually sustains a major injury instead of many minor ones. Now I have to wait until after Thanksgiving. Pout, pout. Not fair. Eagerly awaiting the next installment of "Trolls".

Author's reply

Yes, but it remains to be seen, if they stay that way or not. Thank you. Silly troll, indeed, and let's not forget to say thanks to that very ‘smart’ tree. Those two do seem to have bad luck most of the time, and of course, you are right about one of them usually being badly injured. Will this time be any different? :o) I wish I could get another chapter ready before Thanksgiving, but that just won't happen, I'm afraid. Hang in there. It won't be too long.

Larner · 10 November 2006 · Chapter 6

Good that they have made it this far, and bless the tree.

Author's reply

We can only hope they make it a lot farther. :o) Yes, definitely bless that tree. It's nice to know that even a tree that may have never seen an elf before still has a strong conncection to one.

Ninna · 10 November 2006 · Chapter 6

I enjoy your stories, and perhaps I've missed something, but don't trolls turn to stone in the sunlight? I seem to remember that detail from The Hobbit--didn't Bilbo trick them into staying after sunrise and they turned to stone? I believe in the extended edition of The Fellowship of the Ring that Sam mentions the stone trolls on Weathertop are the ones from Mr. Bilbo's story. Forgive me if this is incorrect and please don't take it as a criticism...I was just a bit puzzled.

Author's reply

Your memory matches mine. However, my trolls were not created by Tolkien. They are purely my own inventions. I am not offended. I can understand your confusion, under the circumstnaces. I hope you are now clear on why my trolls differ from the professor's.

Larner · 19 October 2006 · Chapter 5

Uh, oh! Elf eyes in the tree, looking down on him. Now, if the tree would only agree to drop a large limb on the troll as quietly as possible.... Lovely image, Aragorn in a tree. But then Aragorn almost anywhere is a lovely image, of course.

Author's reply

That's a very good idea. We'll have to see what, if anything, the tree does do to help our guys out. Yes, and having both of them together in a tree is an even lovelier image.
