Another great chapter. I have been on vacation for the last three weeks. The weather here has been very nice. Hot, sunny and dry. Which was good as we were camping. If you can call camping in a 28 foot trailer with all the luxuries of home camping. Now, on to the chapter. Those pesky trolls. Will daylight come soon and take care of them finally? Trolls, river, cliff, storm, injuries, what's left, orcs!? Hopefully the horses are at Imladris and help is on the way. At least to patch these two up. They need it. A helpful dragon would be good. Keep the updates coming.

Author's reply

Your vacation sounds wonderful. I've spent more time camping while staying in a cabin than I have in a tent. Very different experiences, but both are fun. Those trolls are indeed pesky. Daylight has dawned already, though things look gloomy because of the storm. I can tell you there will be no orcs. I can't tell you yet if there will be a rescue. No dragon either, I'm afraid. :o) I will update as soon as I can.

harrowcat · 26 July 2007 · Chapter 18

Don't think just DO! What a wonderful, if hard-won, relationship these two have. Baited breath is being held.

Author's reply

I agree. I think that ability to do and not think has saved them many times. I hope you don't turn blue holding your breath. :o) I'll update as soon as I can.

Naledi · 25 July 2007 · Chapter 18

Now let me see: they've lost the horses, they're injured, they're being chased by trolls, they've got to contend with a raging river, rocks and an unscalable cliff...and now the lightning! You don't believe in giving our heroes an easy time, do you? I'm just hoping that the combination of lightning, water and silicon trolls will result in some interesting glass formations :-) I enjoyed the banter between Legolas and Aragorn. I hope they find time for more of that, in between being fried by lightning and pummelled by trolls. Naledi

Author's reply

Well, you've managed to sum up the mess they are in quite nicely. No, I don't. Look at it this way: The bigger the challenges, the bigger the triumphs. And think of the character they are building. :o) Interesting glass formations. That's funny. We can but hope. I always try to include some humor between those two. They just seem to bring it out in each other. I'm sure there will be more of it.

Larner · 24 July 2007 · Chapter 18

And now lightning to add to the situation! Hopefully it will have more effect on the trolls than on Ranger and Elf. And good they have such a long association to work from.

Author's reply

Well, I thought rain, a raging river and trolls weren't quite enough. :o) Yes, we can certainly hope for that. I think their friendship will be a big factor in what ends up happening to them.

demeter d · 24 July 2007 · Chapter 18

Whew! The what behind him is "just" his friend. And even if they had found their horses, I do not think the horses would have liked sliding around those rocks! Wonderfully vivid description of the rocks, the river and the storm. Lightening, hum. Very tall, wet trolls standing in the river looking for them? This may be trouble for the trolls? I would not have thought of the standing on the rocks bit. Does that insulate them from the ground so that the lightening does not have a complete path through them? I can see that this story is not going to become boring any too soon! I like the bantering between them. It seems to look toward the skill he later practiced with another who became a life-long friend, that stubborn dwarf.

Author's reply

I didn't think too many people would guess it was "just" Legolas behind Aragorn. The rocks wouldn't have been an option, if they had found the horses. They would have just had to make a run for it past the trolls, although that didn't work the first time they tried it. I'm glad you liked my descriptions. I try to make the imagery vivid for my readers. Yes, lightning, and yes, it may be trouble for the trolls. Yes to your question, besides they were standing in water from the rain. I hope it doesn't become boring at all! :o) I'm glad you liked the humor. I think those two can be very funny together, and Legolas and Gimli are even funnier.

Naledi · 5 July 2007 · Chapter 17

Somehow I fear that Legolas and Aragorn are mere pawns in Scron's masterplan. Whatever's sneaking up on Aragorn (I do hope it's the horses!) I can't help feeling we haven't seen the last of those trolls. I'll just have to keep biting my nails until the next installment!

Author's reply

Scron definitely has a master plan. We can only hope our guys get away before he can impliment it. I think you are right about the trolls. What is behind Aragorn will be revealed in the next chapter. I hope you don't bite too much of your fingernails off before then. :o)

Larner · 4 July 2007 · Chapter 17

I HOPE this time it's the horses! They've had enough with the trolls already! Heh!

Author's reply

That's a good hipe, but we'll have to wait and see if it is indeed the horses. I'm sure L & A would heartily agree with you. No more trolls! :o)

harrowcat · 3 July 2007 · Chapter 17

Trolls - the original cave-men!! or the proto-types! And can it get any worse for our two heros? You do like to keep us guessing.

Author's reply

I hadn't thought of them that way, but you are exactly right. Oh, you should never say that. Yes, I do like to keep you all guessing. It's fun. :o)

daw the minstrel · 3 July 2007 · Chapter 17

Rapids, no horses, hurt, and a bunch of trolls on their tail? Really, White Wolf! You're cruel! The portrayal of the trolls is interesting.

Author's reply

Well, when you put it that way, I guess I have no choice but to agree with you. :o) I wasn't sure how my trolls would come across. I'm glad you find them interesing.

demeter d · 12 June 2007 · Chapter 16

Not only does this call to mind the orcs argueing over Merry and Pippin, but the troll scene in The Hobbit where Gandalf kept the three arguing until the son did its work. You are writing very good, classic Middle Earth Trolls! Are they really safe now?

Author's reply

That scene you refer to came to me after I had written this chapter. I didn't think about "The Hobbit" at all until you mentioned it, but you are right. Glad you like how I'm writing the trolls. We'll have to wait and see if L & A are finally safe. ;o)

kaytee · 11 June 2007 · Chapter 16

Yay! They are free once more. One of these times it has to work. Now for some comfort. Right? Good chapter, can hardly wait for the next one. Soon, please?

Author's reply

Yes, they are free, and I certainly hope it lasts this time. Right. They do need comfort, but will they get it? Thanks. I will update as soon as I can.

Naledi · 9 June 2007 · Chapter 16

Well, who'd have guessed that Legolas and Aragorn would be (potentially) saved by troll internal politics? Though I for one will not believe that they have escaped until they are safe and sound in Rivendell - they've just had too many setbacks already. Of course even in Rivendell they won't be safe - they'll most likely be faced with Elrond's infamous tea :-)

Author's reply

Internal politics. I like the way you put that. I have certainly given you enough reasons to have doubts. Not only would they face Elronds' infamous tea but also his infanous lectures. And once they recovered, they'd face the twins' merciless teasing. They might want to rethink escaping. :o)

Larner · 8 June 2007 · Chapter 16

Okay--troll against troll--if it works in your favor, use it! Heh! And at last they have their weapons back. Good! Horses, here they come!

Author's reply

It reminds me (now) of the time the orcs began fighting among themselves, so Merry and Pippin were able to slip away. L & A did manage to get most of their weapons back, the important ones anyway. Let's hope they can make it to their horses.

harrowcat · 8 June 2007 · Chapter 16

You have 'cried wolf' about them getting away so manytimes we are not sure whether to believe you but we keep hoping! *GRIN*

Author's reply

'Cried wolf'. Ha ha. Think how our dear elf and ranger feel. I keep dangling freedom in front of them and then snatching it away. We can't give up, though. This may be the time. *Grinns right back*

Naledi · 28 May 2007 · Chapter 15

No! I hope you can see a way out for Aragorn and Legolas, because I'm beginning to despair! I loved your description of them moving in and out of the moonbeams at the start. It made me imagine it a bit like a strobe effect. Please update soon!

Author's reply

The plot bunny has worked out what will happen, but he won't tell me just yet. Don't despair. We must keep the faith. :o) Thank you. That was similar to the vision I had, as well. More will be along soon.

kaytee · 22 May 2007 · Chapter 15

No!!! Caught again and hurt some more. Forshadowing? The fact they still have their weapons? or will the trees come into play somehow. I liked the way that worked in Dragonfire. Sure spooked the men at that time. They need to escape for real and deal with these pesky trolls. Do I sense a mutiny in the troll ranks? They couldn't possibly kill each other, could they? Hopefully real life won't intrude too badly and the next chapter will be out soon. Keep it coming I am enjoying it.

Author's reply

Yes!!! That they are. Interesting speculations. We'll have to see how close you came to guessing correctily. I'm glad you liked that part of "Dragonfire". I agree wholeheartedly. As for RL slowing down a new chapter, I sure hope it won't. I'm happy you are enjoying the story.

Twilight Haven · 20 May 2007 · Chapter 15

Your trying to kill me! Slowly and painfully! Damn cliff hangers! *G* I can't wait to read the next chapter. Write fast, please!!!

Author's reply

No, I would never kill a reviewer. And certainly not that way. You don't like cliffies? It will be along soon. I'm going as fast as RL lets me. :o)

Larner · 19 May 2007 · Chapter 15

Sword and bow are there, somewhere, if there are still bones to be found. And it's time to deal with these obstinate trolls, once and for all.

Author's reply

You have a point. Aragorn may be giving Pickett too much credit, despite knowing he's dim-witted. I, along with L & A, couldn't agree with you more!

harrowcat · 19 May 2007 · Chapter 15

I am hoping against all the evidence that Pickett might just surprise us with a leeeeetle bit of compassion! Some hope!

Author's reply

Well, I can't really reveal anything right now, of course, but it may be a vain hope. Pickett seems prepared to show anything but compassion. We'll see. :o)

Larner · 21 April 2007 · Chapter 14

Poor lads--I do hope this time they manage to get away and stay that way for a time. Although it appears this group of trolls DOES need dealing with! Heh!

Author's reply

That would be nice, but the question is will their luck be good or bad. I agree. The trolls do need dealing with, and L & A would love to be the ones to do it. We'll have to wait and see how it all plays out.

kaytee · 19 April 2007 · Chapter 14

At least our guys are free for now. The also have their horses. Maybe they can stay that way for a few minutes. They still aren't out of the woods yet. The trolls will be after them for sure. Aragorn is now having trouble seeing. Poor ranger. They need some TLC. Hope they get it soon. Thank you for the quick update. Hope the next one is just as quick. Waiting anxiously for the next chapter. Please, don't be too long about it.

Author's reply

Yes, they are, for now. We can only hope you are right. As for the trolls, you know they won't give up without making a big effort to recapture our dear elf and ranger. A little TLC right now would go a long way. :o) Your are most welocme. I'll get the next chapter up as soon as I can. It all depends on how much RL gets in the way.

harrowcat · 18 April 2007 · Chapter 14

hoping? here's to hoping but I am not sure that even hoping is going to be enough for Estel and Legolas!

Author's reply

You may well be right, but if you don't start out with hope, what's the use in tryig? So hang on to that hope. I'm sure L & A will.

kaytee · 8 April 2007 · Chapter 13

They are free. One needs to remain free even if the other is caught and injured once more. Pickett will kill Tack for letting them escape again. Maybe its time he decided to eat them. Enough with this nuisance of trying to keep these two prisoners. Aragorn needs to get the horses, create a diversion and free Legolas and then make tracks out of there. That should keep him occupied for a while, then he needs to heal Legolas. So hurry up with the next chapter a month is way to long to wait.

Author's reply

I like your speculations and ideas about what needs to happen. They are interesting and would certainly do the trick. Only time will tell how accurate they are. But as you no doubt know, things don't usually work out the way we think they should, especially for those two. The next chapter will be out sometime next week. At least, that’s the plan. :o)

Twilight Haven · 8 April 2007 · Chapter 13

Oh no! Heehee, i was so excited when i saw that this story had been updated, and now you've left us on another cliffy! *shakes fist at you!* I can't wait to see how they get out of this one! Please keep writing with all speed, your doing a wonderful job!

Author's reply

I'm afriad that my plot bunny is obsessed with cliffies. Sorry. Neither can I, although as the author, I have a good idea. Of course, things could easily get out of hand. :o) I'll definitely keep writing as fast as I can. Thanks.

Larner · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 13

Oh, no! Not again! Please don't look behind you, Tack!

Author's reply

Oh, yes. Again. But bless our guys, they just keep on trying. We'll have to see what Tack does next.
