Ah, well told indeed. Yes, well told, and we know that one survived, there in Cirith Ungol, where perhaps she might have herself hatched.

Larner · 31 August 2008 · Chapter 7

Oh, dear--Elrohir had been cocooned WITH eggs? And here comes one of the mothers, from the sound of it! How terrible! At least the starwater destroys the eggs! And love the black humor.

Larner · 31 August 2008 · Chapter 6

Ooh! Suitably creepy, and now the twins are taken! Hurry, Haldir and the others--find them! And food for spiderlings? There's an eggsac somewhere nearby? Time to find them indeed!

Larner · 31 August 2008 · Chapter 5

Of course Earendil's grandsons would do this! What else, or who else would have dared?

Larner · 31 August 2008 · Chapter 4

Being rather greedy in its assaults on elves, not it doesn't appear to argue at the dinner table! Heh! But love that she has learned to capture light, and we know how well such a phial served our Frodo and Sam.

Larner · 31 August 2008 · Chapter 3

So, is this how she learned to capture the light of Earendil for Frodo's starglass?

Larner · 31 August 2008 · Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Oh, I love it when she worries that he's too compliant at the suggestion he rest. How he must in the end have hated losing her to the Undying Lands! As for Algarin, I find I quite like him.

Redheredh · 5 November 2006 · Chapter 8

"And if Angaril were fortunate, Elrond would not reward him with a promotion...wonderfully appealing compared to what he had been dealing with for the last few weeks." LOL! I really got to like this guy. And Thrandornen! "...ITS babies?" OO, daddy! Fun story, Ellie. I enjoyed the inclusion of the aftermath and your playing on the fact that the Eldar ain't dat wise 'bout ever'thin. :) For She is waiting...

Author's reply

THank you very much! Angaril just showed up out of the blue in the story and he was a great guy to write about. I saw Thandronen on some webpage of photos of elves from Two Towers and liked him and his twins so I had to find room for them in a story at some point. They fit quite nicely into this tale. I'm glad you enjoyed this tale. I've never before written antyhing that folks have consistently called "fun". Now I need to figure out how I did it so I can write something else "fun" at some point. hmmm... Thanks for reading and reviewing and pointing things out and enjoying!

Bodkin · 4 November 2006 · Chapter 8

Poor Angaril! Getting bitten at the last moment must have been excessively irritating - although I'm with Haldir! It's a good way to get out of having to tell Elrond about the actions of his sons. I loved seeing Elrond resting with his head on Celebrian's shoulder - and I suppose the twins' recklessness did have some positive outcomes. I enjoyed the ending with Shelob! It's a good thing she didn't get near to Earendil's descendants. Good story.

Author's reply

I'm sure Angaril was thoroughly irritated, but it did get him out of the hard unpleasant task to talking to Elrond. I like seeing Celebrian as a strong and loving comfort for Elrond. I loved the quote about Shelob and couldn't wait to get to the end of the story so I could use it. I love when I can find quotes from Tolkien that fit themselves so nicely into what I am writing. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing and enjoying!

Hi ellie! I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed this tale a lot. You were so fast in posting that it caught me away on a business trip and I wasn't able to find time to read it to the end until today. A very good spooky, scary and horror tale. The idea of Ungoliant kin is a very good one, and I think it is quite well developed. The hissing creature was truly terrifying, despite its maternal instinct, and Elladan and Elrohir were they usual selves. An entertaining read! Well done!

Author's reply

I wanted to post the last chapter on Halloween, so I was trying to pace the postings to meet that. I'm pleased you enjoyed the story! I've never written anything like this before and I must admit I went into this rather blindly. It was such fun to write though and I can't believe I actually pulled it off. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing and enjoying!

Elflingimp · 31 October 2006 · Chapter 8

Well that was a dark little tale! But I loved it,for some reason I thought it was funny when the spider talked, I am glad everyone survived and Elrond didnt blow a blood vessal yelling at Elrohir and Elleden LOL

Author's reply

I'm so glad you enjoyed this. It was so much fun to write. I wish I could think of soemthing else "fun" to write. Any suggestions?

vampfan30 · 31 October 2006 · Chapter 8

the end ? *sniff* really?? that's just so .... sudden.....

Author's reply

Sorry! I sort of ran out of things to do to them and out of warriors healthy enough to get everyone else home. But I left it open with Shelob still out there munching on crunchy elf surprise. or would that be surprised crunchy elf? I'm so bad. anyway... I'm tickled that you enjoyed the story so much that you didn't want it to end. Perhaps my twins muse or my Haldir muse will find me again and bring some juicy morsels for me to write about and perhpas they will bring a plot and good storyline as well and not just the twins and Haldir as juicy morsels. I'm rambling and it's time to get the kids from school. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Calenlass Greenleaf · 31 October 2006 · Chapter 8

You "spin" a very interesting tale. (Yes, I know that's corny, LOL.) But I enjoyed this story while it lasted.

Author's reply

And what better place to post this spider story than on the World Wide Web??? AHAHAHAHHAHA Thanks so very much for reading, reviewing and most especially for enjoying this tale, my first attempt at writing a spooky, horror, scary story!

Bodkin · 30 October 2006 · Chapter 7

Being trodden on will be the least of it! When their family find out what they've been up to E2 will be toast! But at least they've discovered how to get rid of spiders' eggs. I do hope they don't get trapped up there with nasty parent spiders and hatchlings. That is the last thing they need!

Author's reply

Yep, the twins do serve some useful purpose on occasion. You'll have to wait and see what happens next... Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Redheredh · 29 October 2006 · Chapter 7

Ooo, I liked this chapter for its interplay and action. :) Things went along very realistically for the intrepid rescuers you sent in. I was getting worried you were gonna go for a Alien twist, but a Them flavor was fine, just fine, thankyouverymuch! But!! *They* are coming back and when they find the egg-sacs disposed...well, I am glad I am only reading and not there! Run away! Run away!

Author's reply

This chapter was fun to write with all of the creepiness, and human guys are wont to start poking fun at each other when things get too spooky , so I figured elves would do this, too. I'm pleased you enjoyed this chapter. Hope you like ch 8! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Redheredh · 29 October 2006 · Chapter 6

Oh of course, the two trouble-making brothers would out the other two trouble-making brothers! But, you did that *just* to put them into worse trouble!! *shudder* I could just hear that "awful sound, too". So, at least one of the creatures knew the story of Earendil?! Three evil sister had come looking for revenge?! Mercy-sakes...there might be only two left, but... Heck, we know the twins are alive. You're not going to go AU on us now, are ya?!

Calenlass Greenleaf · 27 October 2006 · Chapter 7

tense...very tense. At least..I hope the twins will be all right.

Author's reply

Yes, it was tense. I didn't get to my replies to reviews before you reviewed ch 8. Hope I resolved it well enough to suit you! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Elflingimp · 26 October 2006 · Chapter 7

Ugh! again, this is giving me the creeps but I love it, your descriptions of the spiders cave and the dead body make me want to run far away but I cant wait for more!(go figure)

Author's reply

I'm glad the dexscriptions are working so well. I made my family watch the Shelob scene of ROTK several times and made my kids look for tiny details (like dripping water and tiny dead animals) to be sure I got the descriptions right. Thrilled I could creep you out! Hope you enjoy ch 8! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

vampfan30 · 26 October 2006 · Chapter 7

I think that I might be feeling a little saner now that they are at least halfway rescued... maybe. ^__^

Author's reply

GLad you are feelings daner. That is good, but they aren't out yet. muwahahahaha Thansk for reading and reviewing!

Bodkin · 26 October 2006 · Chapter 6

And if Elrond's sons are alive (and they'd better be!) they might wish they weren't after their parents and grandparents and Glorfindel and anybody willing to have a go at them has crushed them into powder! Just as the battle seemed to have been going so well, too! Should have know it was too good to be true. Fingers crossed for E2.

Author's reply

You are correct about the wishing to be dead thing for the twins. If they don't become spider food, then they will be toast. some choice, huh? Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Elflingimp · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 6

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Not the twins! Dear old Haldir better think of something to help, Ungoliants daughters seem to have an elven sweet tooth and a great need for revenge, ugh I cant stand the thought of anything being fed to spiders! I am going to have nightmares tonight!

Author's reply

Sorry about the nightmares. You remind me of my kids. "But mommy, I promise I won't be scared if I see it. Honest!" Then wham, 3AM guess where they are? Ungoliant's brood do indeed have a taste for elven blood and Elrond's sons are so sweeeeeeetttttttt. Thanks for reading and reviewing! Hope you brave it to read ch 7... Ellie

Jay of Lasgalen · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 6

*Gulp* You said I was right to worry about the twins. But food for the spiders' young? That's worse than anything I imagined ... Jay

Author's reply

Yes, I am mean and so are the spiders. It does explain the attacks on Imladris though... The twins are quite yummy though when you think about it, and to think of them wrapped in silk... sigh... I guess spider silk just doesn't quite cut it though, does it? Thanks for reading and reviewing! Ellie

Calenlass Greenleaf · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 6

AI! Poor Elrond. Those twins always get into the worst kind of trouble, don't they? Nasty arachnids...*shudder*...I can't wait for your next update.

Author's reply

Yes, poor Elrond when he finds out... and poor twins if they ever wake up again. I'll update soon... Thanks for reading and reviewing! Ellie

vampfan30 · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 6

AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!! you... you... AAAAAHHHHH!!!! Yep, definitely breaking out the guns,again............ *twitch* my... dear ...twins...are... not... spider... food.... sweet Eru, you are rough. send help to them, pleeeeeze!!!!!! :(

Author's reply

I'll put on a bulletproof vest in anticipation of the next chapter in case it makes you, um, shall we say, emotional, too. Maybe the spiders won't completely devour them...Or perhaps the twins can stop by your house for therapy? Thanks for reading and reviewing! Ellie

Bodkin · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 5

Haldir's father is rather - closed! It would seem that being ages old doesn't help elves outgrow their prejudices!! Once the Lothlorien elves have seen the danger I think they'll be rather less scoffing about the Imladris elves' twitchiness. And I fear that a certain pair of half-elven twins with a certain amount of Noldor blood are just about to put themselves in serious danger. Their grandmother won't be pleased with them!

Author's reply

I figure if Haldir and co can hold on to their prejudice against the dwarves for so long, why can't his father hold on to his feelings about the Noldor? The Lorien elves will indeed understnad things soon and begin to sympathize if not empathize with thier buddies from Imladris. I wonder which would be worse: incurring the wrath of Elrond or the wrath of Celeborn and Galadriel? Poor twins... Thanks for reading and reviewing!
