Raksha The Demon · 5 May 2007 · Chapter 41: Healing and Horror

It looks like Faramir is starting to respond to Aragorn - hope is kindled. Wakey-wakey, little Steward (please, soon!). I really wonder if Aragorn will have to do the same thing in this AU in 3019; at least if he does, he'll have had good practice.

Author's reply

I have a feeling things will force Faramir to be in Henneth Annun in 3019 - a certain Halfling will need help - or perhaps Prince Imrahil himself will be there?

Raksha The Demon · 5 May 2007 · Chapter 42: A Secret Revealed

Nice to see that Theodred's alive! Maybe in this AU, he'll survive the Ring War; which would be interesting. And Durahil's in love with Indis - any chance of her reciprocating in a few years?

Author's reply

You should see where my head is for the sequel, Raksha. I'm tossing coins trying to figure out a few things - I'd love to have someplace to write them all done and do a poll? Oh - maybe HASA. You know, who will take Boromir's place on the Quest, does Faramir still have the dream, does Faramir or does he not use the Palantir? A truckload of questions. As for Indis - that blasted 'custom' of Gondor is a killer - wish she could...

Raksha The Demon · 5 May 2007 · Chapter 44: To The Rescue

Whoops; everyone's in jeopardy again - but it looks like Aragorn is recognized as Gondor's hero again. Suspenseful chapter!

Author's reply

Thanks, Raksha. I'm not sure that Aragorn is very happy that he is recognized. Too much pressure will be put upon him to return to Minas Tirith - and I really don't think he is quite ready for that!

Pearl Took · 1 May 2007 · Chapter 43: The Battle

oops! Back to things not going well. Much like RL - up and down, ebb and flow. And now, onward!

Author's reply

You know very well about ups and downs and ebbs and flows oh mistress of the Pip tales!!!!

Pearl Took · 1 May 2007 · Chapter 42: A Secret Revealed

Poor dear Aragorn! I hope Elladan is on his side in his choice of love. And Theodred up and riding and speaking! 'Tis good! Your writing is beautiful, Agape. Lovely turns of phrases, clear word pictures and good voices for your characters :-)by the way

Author's reply

Thank you ever so much, Pearl, for the compliment - I really needed it right about now - another tale of mine took a nasty hit with the character's voices - so you're compliment was timely and MOST appreciated! I thought it might be possible that Arwen and Aragorn (and especially Elrond) would keep the little love thing to themselves.... As for Theodred - I do so love that lad! Thanks for commenting, dear heart, again - most appreciated!!!!

Larner · 30 April 2007 · Chapter 43: The Battle

Oh, no! Just as the moment comes for victory! Hopefully it isn't fatal; although if it is I don't believe Minastir will have much time for regretting his action, as he would very soon follow her.

Author's reply

I hate to get into regrets, Larner, for everyone of these characters could fill the Great Hall with their own! Hopefully - all will be well. Pssst - thanks for your continued comments!

Larner · 26 April 2007 · Chapter 42: A Secret Revealed

It appears that Elladan is now watching the newcomers, trusting Aragorn to do what is necessary for his patients. And it appears Elladan is sympathetic with Aragorn's romantic situation, and is willing to offer him an excuse to visit. That is heartening. But a forty-year engagement--how frustrating it must have been for the Man! At least it proved worth it, and Aragorn could find more than an average Man's contentment, joy, delight, and love out of it! Now, to see how the newcomers react to the situation.

Author's reply

I know some people probably thought it would be impossible for Aragorn to 'hide' his love for Arwen - but it seemed plausible to me - and heart-breaking... for he had no one to share the joy and sorrow of it!

Pearl Took · 26 April 2007 · Chapter 41: Healing and Horror

I'm so glad Hope is reaching through to Faramir! And go Ragnhild and the loyal soldiers!! We're off and running :-)

Author's reply

Yes - we are off and running - and I really like Ragnhild and Borondir!

Larner · 22 April 2007 · Chapter 41: Healing and Horror

True righteous anger is a great weapon in its own right. And now it is to be turned against treachery, while their true Steward has heard the call of the King to return to life and has opened his eyes, finding the love of his mother mirrored in the song sung by the one Denethor had seen as his rival.

Pearl Took · 18 April 2007 · Chapter 40: War?

This is all quite interesting. I hope these men she is trusting are true.

Pearl Took · 18 April 2007 · Chapter 39: Hope Is Kindled

I will confess to skimming for awhile *embarrassed blushing* but read this chapter in full. I hope Indis and Theodred will be alright. *biting finger nails*

Author's reply

Ack! Skimming, Precious - Pearl Took was 'skimming' - so dreadful ... Ah - never mind - one must do what one must do - hope your nails will be ok though!

Pearl Took · 18 April 2007 · Chapter 27: A New Ally

Alas, no rest for the weary. I hasten on to the next chapter! Wonderful as always!

Author's reply

Very glad you are still enjoying this!

Larner · 18 April 2007 · Chapter 40: War?

Hooray! They are on top of things indeed, and as Dagmir won't be coming home, there's only Minastir to isolate and deal with. Am so glad to see the cooperation here.

Author's reply

Poor Ragnhild was most surprised, wasn't she? When there is evil, there is usually good people in the background trying to fight it in whatever way they can.

Larner · 14 April 2007 · Chapter 39: Hope Is Kindled

Yes, those two live and even now are in the hands of the King, even if he is not yet returned. Wonderful! All comes together at last!

Author's reply

Very glad you're enjoying this, Larner! Thanks for the comments, too! Most appreciated...

Larner · 14 April 2007 · Chapter 38: Treachery

Poor young man, to learn such a truth about his father and his kindred. And I certainly agree about the probability that evil blood has managed to creep into the lords of Gondor, although I have my own eye on Umbar rather than orcs. Heh!

Author's reply

I love Tolkien's description of Angbor and especially his deed in following Aragorn and the Dead - so there was NO WAY I was going to sully his image. Best leave him an innocent in this - as much as possible! 'But defenders and foes alike gave up the battle and fled when we came, crying out that the King of the Dead was upon them. Only Angbor, Lord of Lamedon, had the heart to abide us; and Aragorn bade him gather his folk and come behind, if they dared, when the Grey Host had passed.'ROTK 'Four thousands I sent marching from Pelargir through Lossarnach two days ago; and Angbor the fearless rides before them.'ROTK

Pearl Took · 14 April 2007 · Chapter 26: Division and Doggerel

I love the "Hobbit" poetry! LOL Very clever of you. This is a very intense story, it makes me feel short of breath!

Author's reply

I loved it too - had such fun trying to find a 'poetic style' that sounded Elvish! And wasn't our intrepid Elf brilliant to 'hide' his mistake!

Larner · 7 April 2007 · Chapter 37: Not Dead?

Oh, I'm SO glad these four at least are still alive. And the Hands of the King will aid them all, now that Listowel has found her mistress and is bringing her back to the cave. Lovely!

Author's reply

Indeed - it seems that Aragorn will have the chance to try to heal these dear souls who have struggled so abysmally. Can you imagine if he did not come to them? If they had had to make the ENTIRE trip to Rivendell? Phew!!! Thanks for reading!

Pearl Took · 7 April 2007 · Chapter 22: Suspended

The North is a big place indeed! She has no idea how far she is from where the healer of the north abides.

Author's reply

Poor Indis - she has an idea, but her guilt over Boromir's death and her fear that Faramir might follow him cause her to vow to go to the ends of the earth to save him!

Pearl Took · 7 April 2007 · Chapter 19: Ice and Snow

This is a angsty tale indeed! One bad thing befalling these folk after another. It's tiring me out - let alone what it's doing to them!

Author's reply

Think of the poor author, Pearl!!! And then the characters go off and do things that I never intended!

Pearl Took · 6 April 2007 · Chapter 12: Trials

This is getting interesting indeed - what if all three are bewitched? "You spend too much time trying to hide things from me," the boy said quietly. "I am old enough to have seen one I love murdered before my very eyes. I am old enough to have taken vows and kept them. I am old enough to gain some respect at least." Well said!!

Author's reply

That is truly the question, Pearl - who is affected? *shivers* Also - I love writing the young boy hero's in this tale - Targon, Boromir (sobs), Theodred....

Pearl Took · 6 April 2007 · Chapter 11: A Fell Darkness

Poor Aragorn! It is good he has his wise brothers with him. Eeek! Who touched Indis?

Author's reply

I do so love Elrohir and Elladan - I started reading them awhile ago in someone's tale (drat I hate when I can't remember who's) - but they are indeed good friends/brothers to Aragorn. As for Indis - difficult times! Geez!

Pearl Took · 6 April 2007 · Chapter 10: Lies and Deceit

That wretched Saruman!! He has put a spell on Aragorn! I hope their journey with Faramir isn't too difficult.

Author's reply

Oh Pearl - hang onto your hat - ANY trip through Gondor during these dark days is difficult! And it seems to be a spell - but is it only Aragorn that is affected???

Pearl Took · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 9: 'Twould Seem Folly

Ah! She seeks the legendary Elrond Half Elven. Excellent! And Saruman gave me the chills. You write him well!

Author's reply

Oh - I got chills just thinking of this chapter, Pearl. Saruman is definitely an evil little snot - I have him even worse in 10,000 Years - I kind of like writing this particular wizard! She's not sure who it is who lives up north - but she's gonna find him if it kills her!

Pearl Took · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 8: In The Wizard's Den

This is indeed a subject that gets wrestled with. I so believe there can be honor, a glory, to death in battle. I'm not sure all who go to war feel it. And, of course it can be twisted, like with the suicide bombers. But, there is an honor in falling while trying to save another. A very insightful chapter!

Author's reply

I very much like Eomund - it just developed. And for some reason, I am truly enjoying the young boys in the story. They give me hope as I write. As for battle glory... I myself am prone to do things that ensure the adrenalin will flow! Get into trouble way too many times because of it. I'm not sure about battle glory - though Tolkien definitely has the Rohirrim living with that hope... if one can call it hope. Honour is such a strange thing for grown-ups to try to figure out - never mind 13 year olds! Thanks for reading!

Pearl Took · 5 April 2007 · Chapter 7: Dreams Abound

Sad and sorrow-filled dreams. It is a long, hard fight these folk all have ahead of them. This is pulling me in more than I anticipated, Agape, as I usually only read hobbit stories. This is very well written!!

Author's reply

Sorry you got 'pulled in' Pearl - but you've done the same to me with your Hobbitty stories! LOL What goesa around comes around. As for the dreams, Tolkien really used them in much of his writings so I wasn't too worried (as I was with the ghosts in Steward and Thain) to use them, an liberally. Thanks for reading!
