What a delightful tale! I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Perhaps I might read more of your story.

*grins* I've just read this whole story through and must say that it has been a long time since I've read such a jolly, funny and entertaining story. Much approval!
Golden · 23 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
A different, but very nice and hilarious story. Very funny that Pip never got to drive again. Hehe. :)
Althea · 21 February 2008 · Chapter 14: You Knocked The Green Dragon Down!
This was the perfect ending. It was as much fun as the rest of the story and tied everything up quite nicely.
Blossom · 21 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
Thank you Llinos for another brilliant story. I love the long-winded names you came up with, so funny, as ever you've captured the essence of the hobbits. I look forward with anticipation to your next great endeavour.
PipMer · 19 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
I truly loved this story, Llinos! It was very funny in parts, and very edge-of-your seat in others. I especially liked the titles you came up with for your chapters... very creative! The whole process of going from a 'lawn mower' to a 'fire engine' was inspired, to say the least. You surely come up with some very unique ideas! Well done!
cookiefleck · 19 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
Loved the final chapter and epilogue. I will never look at a fire engine again without recalling your story. Thank you for a wonderful "ride"!
Larner · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
Poor Pippin--but he had his chance, after all, and look what he did with it? Glad the whole affair ended as it did. Lovely conclusion.
Larner · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 14: You Knocked The Green Dragon Down!
And a pumper fire engine at that! Heh! Nice to see all restored before Pippin was allowed up and about. Sly Hobbits!
Larner · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 13: You Never Did Like That Engine
Ah, now what for our intrepid Thain? And being stuck at Bag End wouldn't be TOO bad, not with Sam and Rosie's cooking at hand and the caring of all the Gamgee/Gardeners! Heh!
Baggins Babe · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
Bwahahaha! Only Pippin could ask a Wood Elf such a question! Dignified vegecide indeed! Tee-hee! Still I'm glad the new pub wasn't made of anyone they knew! I loved sensible Sam, after that long-winded name for the contraption, calling it a fire engine! I keep wondering if Pip had to sneak it out when no-one was looking. This has been a wonderful story and a delightful look at what might have happened if the Industrial Revolution (and perhaps, Valar forbid! the internal combustion engine)came to the Shire. Bravo!
Grey Wonderer · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
(Matt Hammerstone, "in recognition of his extensive work with our esteemed dwarven colleagues and his exceptional expertise in modifying the new Fire Engine, would be…" (from a purely practical point of view, although this was not actually announced, but generally understood) "…Fire Shirriff in Charge." As Sam announced this there were not only great cheers but quite a few sighs of relief.) Good for Matt! He deserved it and I can certainly see why everyone was relieved by this. I love Merry and Pippin's new titles and the reasons why Pip can't drive the Fire Engine but my favorite part of this bit is Legolas and Pippin discussing where the wood for the Dragon came from and Pippin being relieved that it wasn't anyone they knew! I enjoyed this very much and so did a certain Rabbit who has read each chapter twice over. He doesn't review but he did want me to let you know that this is his new favorite story in spite of the fact that there are no rabbits in it. Loved every word!
Grey Wonderer · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 14: You Knocked The Green Dragon Down!
(A Steam Vapour Spindle Activated Conflagration Extinguishing and Predicament Liberation Apparatus.) All hail the new fire engine! I love it and I adored Pippin's attempts to get to drive it as well as the fact that he managed to blame Merry and Sam for driving the old one into the Green Dragon. And Legolas and Gimli there for the fun! Wonderful all the way through and no cliff hanger! This has been splendid. Now off to read the last.

Awww, poor Pippin, lol. I can imagine him sneaking out one night to take the Engine out for a joy-ride. ;-) This excellent story has certainly been a joy-ride for me! I have delighted in each and every update, cliffie or not. Perfectly written by an outstanding writer. I shall miss looking forward to new updates to this tale. Yet, whenever I'll be in need of a laugh, I know exactly where to come and get them. :-) Thank you for sharing this most entertaining story!
PIppinfan1988 · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 14: You Knocked The Green Dragon Down!
ROTFL!! I *LOVED* that last bit! I just love your entire Shire and the hobbits inhabiting it. Most especially, your Merry and Pippin bantering at one another. I was happy to see a new Green Dragon standing in Bywater. Things just wouldn't be the same without that beloved pub. I have very much enjoyed this tale; it's bittersweet to think that this will be the last time I turn the page on this wonderful tale. :-( Here I go...
Pearl Took · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
Bravo Bravisimo! A wonderfully grand ending to a grand tale. :-) MEWD!! (I'm glad the timbers weren't anyone Merry and Pippin knew)
Pearl Took · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 14: You Knocked The Green Dragon Down!
"Ah yes!" Merry grinned back, then turned to the expectant crowd once more. "Esteemed dwarves, Florin and Dorin," Merry bowed to them each in turn, "have informed me it is now called, A Steam Vapour Spindle Activated Conflagration Extinguishing and Predicament Liberation Apparatus." The hubbub swelled once more with much shaking of heads and looks of puzzlement. "However!" Sam took over. "With their honoured permission, we have decided to call it..." Sam paused and everyone waited with bated breath. "...A Fire Engine!" Which will be much easier to call for the next time the machine is needed ;-)
Andrea · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
Huzzah for the new fire engine and for the Fire Captain General of The Shire! That was a wonderful, entertaining story! I'm just sad it's over now. Thank you, Llinos :)
shirebound · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
probably the most important function of the Fire Brigade was at the mid-summer Free Fair. The Fire Engine was polished until it shone and decked out once more with ribbons and flags and stood in honour at the front of the Fair entrance. What a glorious destiny for such a noble and esteemed machine. A very, very fun story!
Katherine-The-Crowned · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
It was a great ending. I love the idea of a fire engine! And I'm glad Gimli and Legolas made an appearace. I think my favorite part in the epilogue is the fact that Pippin can't drive, for various reasons. Enjoyed reading this story very much, though I'm sorry I hadn't come across it sooner.
shirebound · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 14: You Knocked The Green Dragon Down!
Sam went on to congratulate and thank many others who had helped in the work, naming each in turn so that they could receive their due hoorays and applause. Hooray! The Shire has a fire engine. I love it.
Dreamflower · 18 February 2008 · Chapter 999: Dignified Vegicide For A Noble Cause
A very satisfactory and appropriate ending for it all! Huzzah!
PIppinfan1988 · 17 February 2008 · Chapter 13: You Never Did Like That Engine
Oh, I'm so happy!! I get to enjoy this story for a long while yet! :-D Now, I'm *really* curious to know what Pippin is seeing! I won't guess at it because I'm just not good at that sort of thing. :-P I loved the glimpse of Pippin and Diamond together, and thought Merry being just a tad sore at neither winning or losing was quite comical. Absolutely brilliant, magnificently well written with just the right amount of detail.

So glad you liked this nonsense! Now I have to get back to the reality of Recaptured. Yikes! Thanks for reviewing so nicely - warms the cockles of this old scribbler's heart! PS Oh and new (and last ((except for the epilogue)) chapter posted.
Pearl Took · 16 February 2008 · Chapter 13: You Never Did Like That Engine
Ach!! Extreme cliff hanger alert! What could possibly be wrong now? Well done and looking forward to whatever comes the hobbit's way.
Author's reply
Well, everything and nothing - but check it out. Thanks for reviewing. I can now cross this one off my list and get back to Recaptured (oh and real life as well!) Maybe even a KM and KP adventure - they've been nagging!
Pearl Took · 16 February 2008 · Chapter 12: A Hundred Engines Laid End-To-End
"Oh Merry!" Sam's mouth dropped open in genuine dismay. "Your magnificent engine!" "Ha!" Merry shrugged dismissively. "No matter. I'd rather have my magnificent cousin. After all, Pippin is capable of causing more excitement on his own than a hundred engines laid end-to-end! . . ." Music to a Pippin lover's ears :-) A wonderfully written rescue! Whew!
