Linda Hoyland · 1 February 2008 · Chapter 10: Boromir's journey
Very cleverly written and poetic.
Author's reply
Thank you for the praise, which means very much to me because it was my first poem.

Linda Hoyland · 26 January 2008 · Chapter 9: The same procedure (Aragorn, OC)
Poor Aragorn! A delightful ficlet.
grumpy · 22 January 2008 · Chapter 8: Cat's Concert (Aragorn, Eldarion, Elrohir)
Well at least Elrohir is going to teach Eldarion, now they need to find a music room that is far, far away.
Author's reply
Haha! Maybe deep down in a cellar! Thanks for commenting.
Linda Hoyland · 22 January 2008 · Chapter 8: Cat's Concert (Aragorn, Eldarion, Elrohir)
It is good to see this amusing piece here.
Author's reply
Yep, I couldn't wait to post it here. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And thank you for reviewing at HASA.
Nieriel Raina · 21 January 2008 · Chapter 8: Cat's Concert (Aragorn, Eldarion, Elrohir)
Having a daughter who took up the flute in 5th grade, I sympathize with Aragorn. I also now pity my poor mother who endured years of piano lessons. My consolation is I actually can play now, and my daughter is getting quite good with the flute. *grin* Perhaps in time, the poor king will be very proud to show off his son's playing. Maybe not at anythign formal for a while... *grin*
Author's reply
Uoh, poor parents. Mine should be glad that we never took up an instrument. *lol* Perhaps Eldarion should learn to play the lute as well so that he can serenade the maiden of his heart under her window! *lol*
Nieriel Raina · 21 January 2008 · Chapter 7: Cat's Gift (Éomer, Eldarion)
LOL! I never considered cats being in Rohan, but *giggles* poor Eomer. He has my sympathies. I'm not a cat person either. Give me a dog any day! Lovely ficlet!
Author's reply
Of *course* there are cats in Rohan! ;D Somebody must take care of the barn mice, after all. And he has my symphathies as well, that really must have hurt.
Nieriel Raina · 21 January 2008 · Chapter 6: A Date's Irony (Aragorn, Arwen)
Oh, I've missed some! How did I do that? *headdesk* Wow, every time I read one of your prompt ficlets, I am hit by how well you write Aragorn. This is simply beautiful and so sad. I love the irony, and the giftgiving between Aragorn and Halbarad. Very nice! NiRi
Author's reply
Thank you. And I missed your review. Can't imagine how that happened. So... I'm almost always in Aragorn's head - and I'm glad that it worked for you. There is so much "sad potential" in the story of his life that it's somehow frightening. From how I see it, the two were best friends and the giftgiving seemed fitting for them.
Larner · 21 January 2008 · Chapter 8: Cat's Concert (Aragorn, Eldarion, Elrohir)
Well, if Imrahil and Denethor can compete to who can give one another's sons truly awful musical gifts, I suppose Elrohir can find ways of enriching Eldarion's musical education while driving younger brother Estel slightly mad along the way! Nice touch.
Author's reply
Thank you. Isn't there a saying that you'll get everything back? Imrahil and Denethor? I need to find out about that!
Larner · 18 January 2008 · Chapter 7: Cat's Gift (Éomer, Eldarion)
Well, a cat might indeed look at a king--or stalk him as this one apparently does. She's figured out how to annoy him thoroughly, hasn't she? And I wouldn't be the least surprised to learn this cat had managed to find her way back to Edoras! Heh!
Author's reply
Bad, bad kitty, isn't she. I think Éomer made sure that she stays with her new owner. Thanks for commenting.
Larner · 18 January 2008 · Chapter 6: A Date's Irony (Aragorn, Arwen)
I see that the first time I read this the ISP from Mordor cut off the review I wrote before it posted. It is indeed an irony, and one to think on, that led to these two having come to their deaths on the anniversaries of their births. But there are yet good associations for them both.
Author's reply
Thank you. I've always been a bit fascinated by Aragorn dying on his birthday and what might lie behind it. That was also part of my inspiration.
Elflingimp · 17 January 2008 · Chapter 7: Cat's Gift (Éomer, Eldarion)
Tsk! Tsk! I wonder what the dear kitty is going to do to Eomer now!!! (sniggers)
Neilia · 8 January 2008 · Chapter 5: Never back down (Aragorn, OC)
Oh dear, I would love to hear the rest of the the story! I enjoyed this very much. Thank you.
Author's reply
Maybe you will, we'll have to see. And thanks for comenting.
Alquawende · 7 January 2008 · Chapter 5: Never back down (Aragorn, OC)
I would love to see Melian again in another story. You show clearly, that she has the will and strength of her namesake. I really like how you portrayed Aragorn as an extremely loving father. “No,” she cried and released him. “I will take care of him myself. He will still rue this day when he is an old man.” This line just sums up perfectly, what Melian felt and it's the one that stood out to me. ^^ Thanks for writing!
Author's reply
Melian does indeed have a strength and will of her own, more so than any other of the children, even if you do not see it at the first glance, which makes her dangerous - as a certain young Rohir is soon to find out. And I think that Aragorn has something in his character that identifies him as a very caring and loving person to those he's close to or feels responsible for. Thanks for reviewing.
Nieriel Raina · 7 January 2008 · Chapter 5: Never back down (Aragorn, OC)
And this one is my favorite so far! I love this young lady's fire! And yet, she still needs some daddy comfort. *grin* I love to think of Aragorn raising daughters. Feel sorry for any man coming a-courting though. LOL! Great job!
Author's reply
Really? That's great! I think that Aragorn had his hands full(next to ruling two kingdoms) with raising his daughters. Any child of his cannot but have a strong character. Thanks for commenting.
Nieriel Raina · 7 January 2008 · Chapter 4: The King's Clothes (Aragorn, OC)
I already told you at OAA and GoI, but I'll say it again. LOVE THIS!
Author's reply
Your little pieces of feedback always make me feel good! Thank you.
Nieriel Raina · 7 January 2008 · Chapter 3: Solstice (Aragorn, OC)
I really enjoy how you write Aragorn through the many stages of his life. He is always in character and I am loving these ficlets!
Author's reply
Thank you, NiRi, for pushing me in the right direction. And it's good to hear that Aragorn is convincing.
Larner · 7 January 2008 · Chapter 5: Never back down (Aragorn, OC)
Ah, I also had the first daughter (indeed the first child) of Aragorn and Arwen named Melian, and she also was found by many to be far more formidable than they'd planned for.
Author's reply
You named her Melian? That's wonderful. I absolutely love that name. Then your Melian is as strong as her namesake!
Larner · 7 January 2008 · Chapter 4: The King's Clothes (Aragorn, OC)
Very good. Yes, the irony of wearing things made over from Denethor.
Author's reply
Haha, I think that Aragorn was quite surprised at the beginning and was well aware of the irony, too.
grumpy · 6 January 2008 · Chapter 4: The King's Clothes (Aragorn, OC)
I loved this one, you had me laughing yesterday Not only is Aragorn in borrowed clothing, there are pieces he does not know what to do with.
Author's reply
Thanks for commenting. The clothes must have come from somewhere. And Denethor doesn't need his anymore...
Lady Bluejay · 5 January 2008 · Chapter 4: The King's Clothes (Aragorn, OC)
I am glad others have wondered where Aragorn got all that finery from. I always thought Tolkien was being a bit theatrical with the 'black armour and white cloak.' Although in one on my fics I blamed Gandalf! Well done.LBJ
Author's reply
I always wondered where the white cloak came from. It is the colour of the Stewards, and not that of the king. But he might look a bit like a Black Rider with his black armour and a black cloak to go with it.
Linda Hoyland · 5 January 2008 · Chapter 3: Solstice (Aragorn, OC)
This was lovely and very atmospheric. You capture young Aragorn well.
Author's reply
Thank you. That must have been a really tough year for him. I'm glad you commented.
Larner · 3 January 2008 · Chapter 3: Solstice (Aragorn, OC)
Yes, a new beginning with the Lord Chieftain returned!
Author's reply
I can well imagine how relieved the Dúnedain must have felt to see their Lord return. I think that he is more than a simple man, a symbol that stands for hope, as his name already reveals. Thanks for commenting.
Larner · 3 January 2008 · Chapter 2: Waiting
As I said on HASA, I can see this stone resting in the ruins of Annuminas, caressed by those of the Northern Dunedain who come through, looking forward to being replaced in the structures of the new northern capital. Not only do the stones of Hollin grieve! Uplifting.
Author's reply
Yes, there are other places that have cause to grieve. It was indeed Annúminas I had in mind as I wrote this. I can see the Dúnedain coming up there and honouring the place. Thanks for commenting.
Alquawende · 1 January 2008 · Chapter 2: Waiting
I really enjoyed this, especially from the perspective that you chose to write it in. It's very unique. Thanks for writing!
Author's reply
Thanks. It was about time that the silent ones get a voice. If stone could talk, I wonder what they would say.
Larner · 31 December 2007 · Chapter 1: Only the Beginning (Éowyn and Faramir)
Lovely! Very lovely, Vilwarin.
Author's reply
Thank you. This piece is actually one of my favourites. It shows a bit of "all's well that ends well".
