Larner · 2 February 2009 · Chapter 11: No Son Of Mine
Now, that has me giggling! Heh! A wonderful comment for the connoiseur of Dorwinion wine to make!
Author's reply
Thanks! No doubt any son of Thranduil will soon develop a taste for wine :)

Larner · 2 February 2009 · Chapter 10: The Clouds Burst
Farmers and foresters have ever so welcomed the ends of droughts, and it's nice to see that Thranduil is no different from all the rest!
Author's reply
I think he would feel the suffering of the forest more than most.
Raksha The Demon · 19 January 2009 · Chapter 9: Think Of A World Without Any Harvest
A chilling vision of the effects of Sauron's influence on the forest and those who subsist on the forest's fruits.
Author's reply
Legolas himself describes Mirkwood as an evil place, and I wanted think what form that evil might have taken. Thanks for the review!
Larner · 19 January 2009 · Chapter 9: Think Of A World Without Any Harvest
A horrible, but all too likely, outcome had the Ring gone back to Its master. Well done, if shivery to think on!
Author's reply
This isn't meant to be AU - it's set before LOTR, when Sauron and the Nazgul were in Dol Guldur in southern Mirkwood.
Lindelea · 19 January 2009 · Chapter 3: Messengers From The West
*grinning from ear to ear* But I think you know a little bit of Elvish, don’t you? That's the understatement of the year!
Author's reply
Well, Aragorn couldn't let on how fluent he was - people would have wondered where he'd learned it!
Lindelea · 19 January 2009 · Chapter 7: Cornucopia
Reading this has even more impact after "Think of a World without any Harvest". Lovely!
Author's reply
Thank you! 'Think Of A World' was sad to write with the other pictures in my mind :(
Lindelea · 19 January 2009 · Chapter 9: Think Of A World Without Any Harvest
Horrible, envisioning the creeping corruption. Meat for the pot would have been scarce as well, scrawny black squirrels with a nasty taste being the most prevalent form of animal life, if I'm remembering right. (I wonder what they'd eat? Surely acorns and nuts would also be affected.)
Author's reply
Hmm, I didn't think about the squirrels - but their food source would be affected too. The elves would have had to dig deep into their stores from more plentiful harvests to survive.
Lindelea · 19 January 2009 · Chapter 8: Winter In Imladris
LOL, sounds like perfect logic to me!
Author's reply
*Grin* Perfect logic to the twins as well. I think Glorfindel will be trying hard to hide a smile!
Agape4Gondor · 18 January 2009 · Chapter 9: Think Of A World Without Any Harvest
Phew! When you say dark - you mean dark. Well written as I am still feeling the after effects of the chills from the poisoned mushrooms! *shudders*
Author's reply
Dark ... yes. Sorry :( When I tried to think just how bad things might have been in Lasgalen, I even surprised myself.
ellie · 18 January 2009 · Chapter 9: Think Of A World Without Any Harvest
very bleak and dark. you weren't kidding about depressing.
Author's reply
Sorry ... :( This must have been one of the darkest times for the elves of Lasgalen.
Elflingimp · 18 January 2009 · Chapter 9: Think Of A World Without Any Harvest
Ewwww! Jay! That was very descriptive writing and I sure would not want to try one of those toadstools LOL!, however a part of me feels sad for the elves to have their wonderful green forest invaded by this evil. Hugs The Imp
Author's reply
Thranduil must have been in utter despair at the darkening of his realm and the plight of his people :(
Virtuella · 2 January 2009 · Chapter 8: Winter In Imladris
Very true, the target shouldn't move, lol.
Author's reply
And of course, it wasn't that Elrohir missed ...
Virtuella · 2 January 2009 · Chapter 7: Cornucopia
Tolkien was always very vague about where people (other than hobbits) got their food from - you fill that gap nicely!
Author's reply
When I took the time to think about it, I realised that there would be all kinds of food sources in the forest - and the elves would make use of everything they could. I love gap fillers - bless Tolkien for leaving so many!
Agape4Gondor · 1 January 2009 · Chapter 8: Winter In Imladris
Ducking always causes problems! And usually has some nasty consequences... Glad Glorfindel didn't respond.... I'd hate to think what a Balrog-slayer's snowballs would feel like - probably frozen pellets on the inside! :)
Author's reply
Who says Glorfindel didn't respond? I can just see him with Erestor and Elrond and the twins, all throwing snowballs :>)
ellie · 1 January 2009 · Chapter 8: Winter In Imladris
LOL!!!!! He shouldn't have ducked! I love it!
Author's reply
Well, he shouldn't ... **Grin** Thank you!!
Cairistiona · 31 December 2008 · Chapter 8: Winter In Imladris
Excellent blame shifting! Very fun little drabble--it made me smile. :)
Author's reply
Thanks - I'm glad you liked this. Of course Elrohir shifts the blame - otherwise it would mean admitting he missed!
Elflingimp · 31 December 2008 · Chapter 8: Winter In Imladris
Hummm.....with that kind of thinking I would say he's very little!LOL! Happy New Year Jay and thank you for all the wonderful stories. Hugs The Imp
Author's reply
The twins are very young here - but I think they will always blame each other even when they get older! Have a happy 2009!
Kitty · 4 October 2008 · Chapter 7: Cornucopia
Oh yes, I can see the Woodelves celebrating the harvest in this way. And the end was just lovely, Jay!
Agape4Gondor · 3 October 2008 · Chapter 7: Cornucopia
Oh my - beautiful scene... but you tore my heart out with dear Thranduil's love for Legolas. Nicely done, indeed!
Agape4Gondor · 3 October 2008 · Chapter 6: Tomb Raiders
I swore I left a review for this here... but it appears I am mistaken. I really, really liked this one - and so appropriate for these dark October days! The boys did well not defiling the grave...
Larner · 1 October 2008 · Chapter 7: Cornucopia
Ah, marvelous, Jay--and especially love that last line. So appropriate, this appreciation for the First Fruits! Heh!
Elflingimp · 30 September 2008 · Chapter 7: Cornucopia
Okay I gotta say it, Awwwww.....and Happy Birthday Jastaelf!!!! and many more Hugs The Imp
Author's reply
Thank you! I like to go back to writing Legolas and Thranduil occasionally, and I just love Thranduil in his Elvenking glory!
Virtuella · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 6: Tomb Raiders
Young elves, faced with the remnants of a mortal life - a very poignant image!
Author's reply
This was an elven warrior - but equally poignant for those who should be immortal.
Virtuella · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 5: The Bridal Chest
This is lovely, the way you show the stages of Celebrian's life by means of the objects she cherishes. Of course Elves would eventually outlast all such mementos, however much they would take care of them. I wonder what she did take to Valinor with her?
Author's reply
Sadly, I don't think Celebrían really cared about what she took. Arwen packed things she hoped her mother would eventually come to remember.
eliza61 · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 6: Tomb Raiders
Charming story (as usual) Jay. Don't know, your first draft may not have been too far off the mark. Depends on how young they were, my young sons for some reason known only to the Valar are fascinated by Skeletons, ghouls, mummys, or any thing that has to do with ripping heads off. I pray daily that this is just a phase. (**sighs**)
Author's reply
Oh, I know young boys (and girls) love such things :) I just think that a real skeleton would still be a shock.
