Oh yes, Thranduil as the King of the Woodelves must have felt the reaction of the trees to this much-needed rain and rejoyced with them. Lovely, Jay!
Author's reply
Yes - I like to show him with a bond to the trees and the forest. I'm glad you liked this - thank you!

Okay, I feel stupid. Can I borrow your proofreader, Jay? ;) Write instead of right. Ow. Whatever the case, I still love your stories. Keep them coming!

Not a fan of wine myself, but your description of this wine makes me want to try it. That description reminds me of the description of Elrond's house. And it must be good wine if Thranduil approves. ;-)
I love the idea of wine in Ithilien. Cool idea.
Author's reply
I prefer white wine to red, but this felt right for Thranduil - and he knows good wine when he drinks it :)
Making wine seemed a suitable task for elves - and profitable, if they export it to Gondor or further afield!

Gosh I could almost taste that! Umm.....could I have some of that?, just one glass will do, my mouth is watering it sounded so good. Hugs The Imp
Author's reply
Thank you! Although I prefer white wine, I think I'd like red if it was like this ...

I love these drabblets! Especially because you have written about all three of my favorite characters--Legolas, Elladan, and Elrohir! These are all really good, and "No Son of Mine" was cute! :) Are you working on any longer stories write now? Do it, please!
Author's reply
Thank you!
I'm working (slowly) on a longer fic with Elladan, Elrohir and Estel, 'Beyond The Dimrill Gate'. I'm trying to finish the latest chapter.

I could just see Legolas tending vines and growing grapes in Ithilien!

This was wonderful Jay! I love the fact that Legolas comes to his father for his approval for the vintage. I wonder if it's as good as Dorwinion?
Ces
Author's reply
Thank you! I think Thranduil is seen as the wine expert, so who else would Legolas ask? And I'm sure it's even *better* that Dorwinion (to Thranduil's eyes, at least!)

Oh, I really like this, Jay! What a relief to have rain after a long drought.... it gives me an overpowering urge to go drink some water! LOL!
I suggest posting it for Dwim's challenge about "Weathering the Weather" on the HA mailing list... her message was on January 30. It would be absolutely perfect!

It must have been a wonderful moment for Thranduil to feel ain after so long.
I'll add the drabble to that challenge - thanks for the link!

· Chapter 2: The Fall of Gondolin
Great use of the prompt! Very creative! And I loved 'ada (and Erestor) are going to be cross.' You can almost see them shrugging, like, 'oh well' and happily trotting away.
But when I was reading this it made me think--I wonder what the adult POV would be (beyond the mess). How would the older Elves respond to playing at the Fall of Gondolin. Of course it is endearing to see children at this type of play. But I wonder if it would be a little heart-breaking too? Might be an interesting, if difficult to capture, POV.

This is almost sadder to me than the fate that Tolkien gave Arwen. Too sad to think of her eternally separated from Aragorn. There's no completely happy ending for her or her family.

Ok, wow, this is sad! Poor Celebrian! And poor Arwen trying to put together something that might make her mother happy again when she finally could be.

It was interesting - though rather sad - to think of things that would mean most to Celebrían.

Again, I love the image in this drabble, in this case of father and son together. Very sweet.

It had been a while since I wrote Thranduil and Legolas like this, and I enjoyed going back to them. I've never seen Thranduil as anything but a loving father, unlike some of those abusive fics out there.

Wow! This is a scary thought, and one I never contemplated, but that is a very likely scenario in Mirkwood. How depressing that would be. Powerful.
