Larner · 15 August 2008 · Chapter 5: A Daniel come to judgment!

A joy it is to hunt this out at last and read it, Linda. Yes, this is our Aragorn, who is ever desirous to temper justice with mercy when it is right, and who certainly deserves a more comfortable--and less hideous--chair! What a wonderful gift! And I rejoice Ostopher and Melian have found joy together! Thanks for a wonderful story!

harrowcat · 5 August 2008 · Chapter 5: A Daniel come to judgment!

I really enjoyed reading this one Linda. I don't suppose Faramir will really want the chair. Chop it up!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed the story. The ultimate fate of the chair is revealed on my LJ!(tongue in cheek)I wish Aragorn had chopped it up!

Virtuella · 2 August 2008 · Chapter 5: A Daniel come to judgment!

A chair! I knew he was going to make him a better chair! A very satisfactory conclusion. Great story!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the story and the part about the chair.I thought poor Aragorn deserved to be comfortable!

Virtuella · 2 August 2008 · Chapter 4: A pair of star crossed lovers

I like how you use modern concepts (massage, counselling techniques) and integrate them into this setting. You do it very convincingly. I had to laugh at the idea of a special detention cell for obnoxious dignitaries! Oh, and you brought Ioreth into the story and made her speak for woman power. Yay! The dilemma Aragorn finds himself in is very well put.

inzilbeth · 2 August 2008 · Chapter 5: A Daniel come to judgment!

So Arwen's advice is invaluable and a solution is found. I admit I had to laugh at the Gondorian view that exile to the North was considered a fate worse than death! A most enjoyable read all round.

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed the story.I admit,as a Northerner myself I was influenced by the views of some people who dwell in the South, but then we think much the same!

Virtuella · 2 August 2008 · Chapter 3: Blood will out

Oh, very clever, Aragorn’s lie detector method! Ostopher is becoming very likable in this chapter, especially when he speaks about his craft. I like the way you put so many nuances into the developing conversation.

Virtuella · 2 August 2008 · Chapter 2: Don't judge a book by its cover

Indeed, it is scandalous! Lord Denethor would never have allowed it! LOL Well, I can see the plot thicken...

Virtuella · 2 August 2008 · Chapter 1: Clothes maketh man

A man wearing only his drawers? Oh, my! What an intriguing start to a story. ;-) And it is funny and touching, that Aragorn immediately thinks of increasing security for Arwen... I like your sensitive take on the relationship between Aragorn and Faramir, which you illuminate with just a couple of sentences. Aragorn playing the part of Sherlock Holmes is a very original and amusing idea.

Estelcontar · 2 August 2008 · Chapter 5: A Daniel come to judgment!

And this was the best chapter yet. Didn't I say that Aragorn would come up with a just and kindly solution to the problem. And he didn't let me down; with Arwen's wise help he certainly did. The wise healer king most certainly deserves that masterpiece of a chair in which he can comfortably sit in.

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed the chapter. You are good at guessing!Arwen's wisdom is a great asset to Aragorn.

Ainu Laire · 1 August 2008 · Chapter 5: A Daniel come to judgment!

Heheh! An appropriate end to Denethor's chair ;P Good ol' Arwen and her wise ways. You know us of the fairer sex certainly seem to possess more of it... (j/k... or am I?) ;) Hope they live happily in the north. And, first things first, Aragorn needs to start altering the laws... slowly but surely...

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I like to portray Arwen as the wise one in the marriage.I know she is very old,but lots of ladies I know would identify with her and I'd agree!I'm sure Aragorn will work hard to bring justice to the land.

Agape4Gondor · 1 August 2008 · Chapter 5: A Daniel come to judgment!

Very nice ending chapter... I loved Arwen's wisdom and the friendship that grew between the two couples... I was a little saddened about Denethor's chair - I would have taken it :-)

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the ending.I like writing wise Arwen.I'm sure Aragorn would be happy to give you the chair. He just wants more room in his study!

Raksha The Demon · 1 August 2008 · Chapter 5: A Daniel come to judgment!

A well-told mystery concludes - I love the bit about the chair. And Aragorn's judgment was excellent; the North will need skilled laborers and additional population, Ostoher and Melian and her sisters should do very well there.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you liked the part about the chair.I added a bit to the beginning about it too.I'm sure Ostopher and his new family will thrive in the North.

Ainu Laire · 9 June 2008 · Chapter 4: A pair of star crossed lovers

Ah yes, the "mob mentality"... "He killed a guard!" "Well, the guard *was* an evil bastard-" "Doesn't matter! He killed a guard! GET HIM!" *headdesk* Well, I hope some sort of solution can come out of all of this. You know, without the crazy "mob mentality" killing him... I hear Dol Amroth is lovely this time of year *sends the couple packing and ships them off* XD BTW, one minor correction: It should be 'Maiar' rather than 'Maier'.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review and for pointing out the typo which I've fixed. The problem is that Ostopher refuses to tell the world what Maglor did, but let us hope Aragorn can find a just solution. Your idea is a good one.

Agape4Gondor · 6 June 2008 · Chapter 4: A pair of star crossed lovers

Good chapter. Needless to say, I've got my fingers crossed for the young carpenter... but how much fun it was to see Ioreth again!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm crossing my fingers for Ostopher too!I found it fun to write Ioreth,a character I have a soft spot for.

Raksha The Demon · 1 June 2008 · Chapter 4: A pair of star crossed lovers

Now Aragorn has to figure out how to cross the fine line between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. Will Law or Justice prevail? Good chapter; the mystery is solved, but the fate of the young lovers still in doubt, even in the king's hands.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the chapter. We will have to trust Aragorn to do the right thing!

Larner · 1 June 2008 · Chapter 4: A pair of star crossed lovers

Maglor has too much to answer for before Namo, I'm thinking. Alas for what he did and to what that led! Love the characterizations.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Yes,Maglor has indeed a lot to answer for.I'm pleased you liked the characterisations.

Estelcontar · 1 June 2008 · Chapter 4: A pair of star crossed lovers

You're really improving this story. This second version is so much more subtle than the original one. What a sad story! Star crossed lovers indeed. Aragorn is in a quandary, is he not? But being so wise-hearted, I'm sure he'll find a just and kindly solution to the problem now facing him.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. This story has taken on a life of it's own.It was originally only meant to be the first chapter, but a friend was convinced there was more to Ostopher than meets the eye. I am still discovering just how much more!I'm sure Aragorn will do his best to find a solution.

Neilia · 31 May 2008 · Chapter 4: A pair of star crossed lovers

Oh my, the King is in a pickle. How does he untangle this mess? Can't wait for the next chapter. I hope there is an answer to this puzzle? Hugs, Neilia

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Aragorn is a very wise man and he has the good fortune to be married to Arwen with her centuries of wisdom! hugs,Linda

keep on writing!

Neilia · 11 April 2008 · Chapter 3: Blood will out

Arrgghh! Now I have to wait for the next chapter? Oh well, I am being just as coy with my story. This tale is most enjoyable...not in a fluffy way...in a real-life-circumstances way. I am sure the King will get to the bottom of this mess...right? The boy will not have to die, right? I like RL stories, but I am also very fond of happy endings. Hugs, Neilia

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I like to be as realistic as possible while trying to remain true to Tolkien's vision.I'm sure Aragorn will not rest until he knows the truth.I like happy endings too!

Larner · 11 April 2008 · Chapter 3: Blood will out

Should he speak with the young lady ere he signs the warrant? He does need to know! I'm glad he has made it obvious he will ease the young Man, body and soul, ere he lets him die. And the silliness of young nobility! No matter what Maglor did, it would be better if it is known by those who can ease her own distress!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. Poor Ostopher is indeed young and foolish. Fear not, Aragorn will leave no stone unturned!

Agape4Gondor · 10 April 2008 · Chapter 3: Blood will out

Very nice chapter. Aragorn is a fine example of a wise king.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I love Aragorn's wisdom and kindness!

Agape4Gondor · 10 April 2008 · Chapter 2: Don't judge a book by its cover

“Alas, indeed,” Aragorn replied suspecting Faramir was referring to his brother as well as to Ostopher. "Greed has destroyed far better men than this young fool I am trying today." - - Don't quite agree that Boromir was greedy, but the story you're weaving is good.

Author's reply

Thank you.I'm pleased you like the story.

Agape4Gondor · 10 April 2008 · Chapter 1: Clothes maketh man

Very clever of Aragorn.... Looking forward to more.

Aragorn's compassion for the lad is touching. Gondor is lucky to have a king who values mercy as well as justice.
