Edlyn · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

ROTFL! I'm glad I didn't read this when there was anyone else in the office. My ribs hurt from laughing so hard! What a set of mental images this produced. . Eru bless, Edlyn

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed this, Edlyn. Thanks for letting me know.

Sunny · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

Heh - Namo getting introduced to a new fashion, and in the process getting twitted on his favorite color. Again. I can just imagine his reaction to being teased about Goth-fashion: a small sniff, and one word: "Copycats". Excuse me, I am just going to dive into my stashes of fabrics and patterns. I can feel a bout of inspiration coming up.

Author's reply

I can just see him sneering at Goth. *grin* Glad you liked this.

Ellie · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

I think men in kilts can be rather dashing if the man is suitably proportioned for such a fashion endeavor. I think a vala would be fine in one - providing he doesn't have knobbly knees or a pot-belly. and balck Watch is a nice tartan - one of the more appealing ones. Namo was such a wimp... teehee loved the comment about Varda with stars in her hair...

Author's reply

You really have to be Liam Neeson to pull it off, I think, otherwise, don't bother. I now I never could! And I doubt that any Vala would have knobbly knees or a pot belly unless they were in disguise. *lol*

eiluj · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

"Well, I admit it’s a bit garish..." -- Ah: Dress MacLeod! Or perhaps it was Buchanan? "If you squint... they’re distantly related to the Rohirrim and the Men of Dale" -- Having been nearsighted for some 49 years now, I'm well aware of the usefulness of squinting. And I quite agree that squinting Valar could probably see *all* *sorts* of things.

Author's reply

Buchannan old dress or Dress MacLeod would work. There are any number of very garish looking tartans to choose from. *grin*

Nieriel Raina · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

Oh, I have to say it again. I just LOVE this! Hilarious! Though I still think Námo would be quite dashing in a black kilt. Though I think it would be more up Tulkas alley. I could see he and Oromë doing a caper toss. *grin* Great story.

Author's reply

Yeah, I could see Tulkas and Oromë in kilts doing a caber toss, though I wouldn't mind seeing Námo and Oromë doing a sword dance myself. *grin* Glad you liked this. Thanks for letting me know... twice.

6336 · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

Oh I can just see Namo in a kilt, full Highland rig of cf course, sporran, lots of frothy lace at his neck and wrists and a dirk in his stocking a Claymore at his side and his hair Elf braided and flying in the breeze! Yum! He'd also look good in jeans and a tee shirt! Actually there is a shop in Seattle that sells 'everyday kilts' and does quite a good buisness! Considering what passes for fashion these days a kilt is not so bad, got to have good legs though! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

I can see him like that too... I think he would look stunning as long as the tartan was black. *grin* Glad you liked this. Thanks for letting me know.

Kaylee · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

*snicker* Oh, meldonya! Too funny!! Heh, I wouldn't mind a picture of Namo in a kilt! Is this going on one of Vaire's Tapestries? Manwe and Namo in kilts... ~Kaylee!!

Author's reply

You never know... Vairë does have as wicked a sense of humor as her husband.

Larner · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

I'm with Namo here, at the thought of Manwe in kilts!

Author's reply

Me too! *grin*

Lilandriel · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

rofpmsl!! excellent! "an entire nation running around in bedsheets. I still have nightmares" i have to admit, i never thought of toga's like that before, and i'll never be able to think of them again without thinking 'bedsheets'! pmsl, ta! :-D l'il

Author's reply

Well, I was thinking of all those 'toga parties' when I wrote that line. *grin* Glad you found this so funny. Thanks for letting me know.

Ces · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

*Snort!* That was too funny! Do they both have nice knees? And did they wear anything under the kilt? Enquiring minds want to know! What's next? Jock straps? Thongs? Speedos? Can't wait to find out! Ces

Author's reply

Glad you like this. As for the rest... I refuse to comment. *lol*

Kitty · 22 July 2008 · Chapter 26: SKIRTS: Fashion-sense

*ROOTFLMAO* Fiondil, you're killing me! This is too hilarious for words! These two arguing about fashion is hysterical! Oh well, at least Manwë and Námo didn't talk about "what do Scots wear under their kilts" ;-) But the image of one of them in a kilt ... excuse me while I run out of the library before I start laughing!

Author's reply

*LOL* This entire conversation came to me while I was taking an afternoon nap. The two of them were practically standing over me arguing as I was trying to sleep. The only recourse was to get up and write it all down, then I was able to go back to my nap. *grin* Glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for letting me know.

Pearl Took · 16 July 2008 · Chapter 1: SONG: Name That Tune

Wonderful!! I wish I could have heard Gandalf sing. Thank you.

Author's reply

Hi Pearl. I'm glad you liked this. I, too, would love to have heard Gandalf sing. *grin* Thanks for reviewing.

Baggins Babe · 13 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

This story is a classic example of why I never drink while at the keyboard! I love the way you portray the Valar and this was hilarious. Oromë unable to hold his drink and Namo not only drunk but shovelling down everyone's pie! Loved the fact that they had to put right all the damage, but I'm wondering about those trouble-making Elves at the next table......... Never seen again eh? I wonder why...........

Author's reply

Hi Baggins Babe. Glad you enjoyed this one, especially the Valar. And of course they would have to put right all the damage that they caused. It's only fair. As for the trouble-making Elves... well... *grin* Thanks for revieing. I really appreciate it.

GoldenFlower · 11 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

... I will never be able to read the " Serious Namo" Chapters in Elf Interrupted again without laughing myself silly. This has got ot be one of the best Fiondil's Tapestry chpaters- LOVED it! Can't wait for more! ~GS

Author's reply

Glad you liked this GoldenFLower and think it's one of my best. I certainly had fun with it as you can see. And of course there will be more. Tons more. Thanks for reviewing.

Sunny · 10 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

Hmmm - I wonder if this is the incident Vairë refers to in _Dinner with Námo and Vairë_? It is certainly cringe-worthy enough for Námo :-) ROFLMAO

Author's reply

Actually, when I originally conceived of this story it was in the framework of being a sequel to "Dinner with Námo and Vairë" where we see at least one of the tapestries Vairë shows the ladies, but in the end, decided to make it a stand-alone story. But yes, this was definitely *one* of the tapestries Vairë had in mind to show the ellith. *grin* I'm glad you found it amusing. Thanks for letting me know.

artistic sprite · 10 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

He he! I wonder if Glorfindel ever found out that Orome can't keep his drink down? The two Valar fixing the inn is just genius!

Author's reply

Thanks, sprite. I'm glad you enjoyed it. As for Glorfindel... only if Gandalf told him. *grin* I thought it only fair that the Valar fix the inn that they nearly burned down but without using their powers.

Kitty · 9 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

You know, I saw the update today morning at work, but wasn't able to read anything because the day was really crazy (first day with a new software - don't even ask how much went wrong!), but in hindsight it was probably better that I had to wait so long. People would have thought me crazy for howling with laughter! Argh, what did Olórin do?? Even he can't have expected things to go *so* bad! *ROFL* Námo being such a glutton was funny (though his table manners in the end left something to be desired), as was Tulkas drinking so much ale. And from then on, things got even better worse! Ha, I can see Námo fuming about what he heard at the other table. Have to admit I find these four ellyn a bit suspicious ... the other Valar did listen to Olórin's explanation how to become an elf, didn't they? To watch the disaster unfold was *too* funny for words - I've not laughed so much for some time! And Manwë's (and Vana's) punishments were very creative. Maybe the Valar finally got a copy of Finrod's innovative book about 'Creative Punishments for Thralls, Elflings and Other Recalcitrant Underlings' *evil grin* You know, now I *truly* want to know if Olórin remembered this incident after he became Gandalf and told Glorfindel about it. Our dear balrog-slayer would have enjoyed the story *so* much! Thank you for the much needed laugh - this was absolutely hilarious!!!

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. Maybe it is a good thing you didn't read this earlier in the day. I'm sure after all the frustration you encountered with the new software (been there and done that myself, btw), you probably appreciated this more. As for the four ellyn... you're correct, the other Valar and perhaps some of the Maiar who would have been in attendance to their lords and ladies also listened to Olórin's explanation, so you just never know... it is interesting that those four are never seen again by anyone. *grin* I have no idea if Gandalf would remember it, but I bet if he did, Glorfindel would have loved it. *grin* Thanks for reviewing.

Lilandriel · 9 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

oh, heavens! that was hilarious! thank you for giving me such a good laugh! right, who gets to tell Glorfindel when he gets back? he will just ~love~ to hear about this one! see, he's not so bad after all... ;-) Namo singing (badly) cracked me up. i don't suppose you'd ever consider writing that song out? of course, the site rules might not let you! Poor Orome! *giggles* i have to wonder- at the end "...Interestingly enough, there was no sign then or ever of the four ellyn who had started everything with their remarks about a certain Balrog-slayer and the Valar..." i don't suppose that the four ellon were actually other Valar/Maia in disguise, playing a prank on them? i must confess, it was the first thing i thought! brilliant! looking forward to the next installment J

Author's reply

You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it. As for the four ellyn... your conclusions about them may be truer that you think, but I refuse to say one way or the other... I leave it to each reader to draw their own conclusions. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Ces · 9 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

You really know how to make my day start off with a laugh! And elves and the Vala think Glorfindel is trouble??? He has nothing on those three. Good lord, can you imagine being caught saying those things about Namo and then having to face retribution? *snicker* And just what did happen to them I wonder? "Lord Ulmo was most upset to find half his lake missing." You think?! *snort* Great line! I laughed out loud when the spoon came into the story! I'm surprised he's not still trying to fill that pail! And I love that you brought Eönwë into it also. You really must do a story on some of the outrageous vows made by Legolas, Elladan and Elrohir as elflings that he must record. I'd love to hear his take on those three! Excellent chapter and I wait for the next installment to see what trouble everyone can get into. Ces

Author's reply

Hi, Ces. I'm glad you found this such an amusing tale. I had fun writing it, especially the dialogue. Maybe some day Eönwë will let me take a peek in his Book and we'll see what's in it. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

eliza61 · 9 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

Oh god, my ribs. Now that I've stopped laughing like a loon. Why is it that no matter what the race- men, elves, maiare or vala, the male of the species seems to be able to make collosial idiots of themselves whenever a pub is involved? Unfortunately, I can remember echoing Vaire's sentiment a time or two. thanks Fiondil, that was a lot of fun to read. Eliza

Author's reply

Hi Eliza. Well, what can I say... boys will be boys whatever their species? *lol* And don't forget, these Valar had to *be* elves for the duration, so they were perhaps acting (and reacting) differently than thay would had they been in their true forms. I'm glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for letting me know.

eiluj · 9 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

*shakes head* Who'd have thought that at their age those Valar could get into such a mess? Ah, so now we know when Glorfindel finally got back to Middle-earth. "Interestingly enough, there was no sign then or ever of the four ellyn" -- I'm coming up with strange and interesting possibilities for that. However, I think I'd rather *not* know.... "Oromë, however, was not with them, and no amount of begging got them answers as to what had happened to him. "I believe Lady Nessa asked the Elder King’s permission to administer her own brand of punishment upon her lord" --I think you mean Vána.

Author's reply

Thought I had made that change... oh well, Nessa is Oromë's sister... anyway thanks for the correction. *grin* I don't think you really want to know about the four ellyn that started everything... Some things it is best not to enquire about. *grin* Yes, Glorfindel (in my Valar-verse) gets sent back around the year 1200 in the Second Age. , of course, details that, or will.

harrowcat · 9 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

This is great fun. Thanks for the warnings. Off to have breakfast now. *still chuckling*.

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed this, Harrowcat. Enjoy your breakfast. *grin*

Larner · 8 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

Can't hold their liquor, can they? Snort! And he got to fill the pails with a spoon? Hehehehehe!

Author's reply

I'm sure they all learned their lesson from this... especially Oromë! *grin*

6336 · 8 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

Oh, ROFL, this is so good! If Eonwe curses who records his oath? Ouch, this got a little naughty in spots but I loved Eonwe's line "You idiot! I almost had the orc-sucking bgger!" My husband was asking what I was sniggering about and I had to tell him it was very funny but he would not understand not being into LOTR. You have to figure out all the verses to the Fruit Seller and the Elf!:<) Oh well, now to go see what the Kitts are up to, Mischief and Mayhem are living up to their names, especially Mayhem! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. I'm glad you enjoyed this so much. I had a lot of fun writing it and BC helped me with the best parts. We had way too much fun with it. *grin* As for the figuring out all the verses of the song... maybe some day. Thanks for reviewing.

Kaylee · 8 July 2008 · Chapter 25: SMOKE: One Night at the Laughing Vala

*laughing so hard she's crying* Oh...oh, my two favorite Valar (and Tulkas) have been so much trouble!!!!!! I liked Ulmo's revenge on Orome, lol. The poor Maiar, though... The image of Namo having to judge himself was amusing. Maranwe's humor was wicked as usual. *grin* And so we FINALLY got to see verse thirty-one...though not all of it, I think? Excellent chapter, meldonya! Now...what happened to the elves that started all the trouble? ~Kaylee!!!

Author's reply

Hi Kaylee... glad you enjoyed this little romp in my Valar-verse. And no, we don't see all of verse thirty-one and probably never will... this is a family-oriented site after all. *grin* As for those four ellyn... hmmm... mysteries abound... *lol*
