Heh. ”I think it best if you Reborn are not all in one group.” Were certain plans to get into trouble spoiled here? ;-) It is good to see Pelendur and Haldir moving towards reconciliation. I expect that Arafinwë will be pleased with at least _this_ result of the trip to Tol Eressëa. You have dropped some rather heavy hints that Ingwion (and Ingwë) lost some very important to them during the darkening. Now, with Ingwion’s reaction to the name Ingil, I can guess that this is the person’s name. And with that name, I can only assume that this must have been a relative – and a close one, too. Perhaps Ingwion had a brother with that name? I know – to get any answers, I must wait for your Darkening story. I must say that Findegil certainly has an odd sense of humour. :-) Are your Internet woes likely to be resolved soon?

Author's reply

Ah.... very good guesses but alas I can say neither yea or nay to them at this time or I will spoil everything. *grin* But please be patient and all will be revealed in due time. Hopefully our internet woes will soon be over. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer or two to whoever is in charged of such things. Using an internet cafe once a week is a real drag and expensive.

Rhyselle · 22 September 2009 · Chapter 76: The First Day in Avallónë (Part I)

It's been forever since I reviewed thanks to really crummy computer problems but I'm back and was so very pleased to get caught up on this story. I'm very much enjoying the trip to Tol Eressea, and I am rather amused at how the royal progress keeps picking up people enroute! I like the idea of Lord Namo giving Ingwion Sindarin lessons... *grin* Sounds like a short story in the making, hmmmm? (Yes, I suppose it's a hint to your muse... LOL!) But what I really like is seeing things like Pelendur and Haldir reconciling, and being open to learn about each other's lives while they were separated by the Rebellion. I am definitely curious about what it is about the baby-to-be's name that affected Ingwion so much. Something to do with the person that he wants released from Mandos, perhaps? Something coming down to him from the time of the Darkening? Hmmmmmm.... I know, "wait and see!" :) Every chapter gets better and better; building on what has gone before, like threads in a tapestry. Vaire would be proud of you. :)

Author's reply

Hi Rhyselle. Glad to see you back. As for Ingwion.... yes, wait and see. *grin* And please do not give my Muse any more hints! I can´t keep up! *lol* Anyway thanks for letting me know how much you are enjoying this. I really appreciate it.

Tari · 22 September 2009 · Chapter 76: The First Day in Avallónë (Part I)

I can't seem to find the words to express how this chapter affected me. The healing was so needed. Father and son finally reconciling: Eleves forgiving each other. Wouldn't it be a wonderful place in which to live? It sounds so beautiful.

Author's reply

Yes it does, Tari. Would that we humans could be that forgiving of one another.

njomo · 22 September 2009 · Chapter 76: The First Day in Avallónë (Part I)

Hi Fiondil, Aahh, you've left us with another mystery! What better way is there to help me be patient as I'll be chewing this over for the next week! And I need to go back to EI1 to investigate something. But at a first and then second reading, my guess is that Ingwion's distress is caused by either the mention of a child, the mention of a child to be named after him (even partially) or the name Ingil. And I think the emotion we see here is the same emotion we saw at the trial during the tournamnet when Ingwion demanded Námo to release "him"-whoever that might be. And there were some hints dropped in EI1 about events that occurred during the darkening.... We'll see next week if I'm way off track or not. It's nice to see Haldir and his father really "talking" to each other, and by that I mean they are listening to the other as well as speaking. Thanks Fiondil! Now to my research.... Joanne

Author's reply

Hi Joanne. Unfortunately you will have to wait a while before you get the answers to your questions concerning Ingwion. Very good guesses by the way. And yes, Haldir and Pelendur are finally listening to one another which is actually the most important part of speaking.

Larner · 22 September 2009 · Chapter 76: The First Day in Avallónë (Part I)

Am not completely certain what has set Ingwion off, but hope to be enlightened. The thought anyone says he hates anyone else?

Author's reply

No. Ingwion´s problem has to do with his past, which will be revealed more fully in the Darkening story that I am presently writing. In fact, I have finished the first part of it leading up to the actual events surrounding the destruction of the Trees. I hope to begin publishing the story early in the new year.

Larner · 21 September 2009 · Chapter 75: A Fateful Encounter in Avallónë

Good enough, then! At least Lasgalad has a better than fighting chance now, so close to the Valar and Maiar.

Author's reply

Indeed he does, Larner, and Earnur will make sure that he will make a complete recovery.

Hm, yes, the instance of coincidence seems to be a little fortuitous(sp?), I must say! Almost as if things had been'arranged' by certain beings of our aquantance? Glorfindel will get the answers to his questions when he is ready for them. My rule of thumb for 'aging' elves is to devide by 5 and multiply by 2. More please, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. As for who was making the arrangements.... *sly grin* The actual ratio is .42. If you take the elven age and multiply by this number you get the human age equivalent. Obviously, to go from human age to elven age you divide the human age by .42.

Hel · 20 September 2009 · Chapter 75: A Fateful Encounter in Avallónë

‘Telerin fishmonger with pretensions to lordship’ - Maedhros should be glad that Cirdan didn´t know about Fingon´s remark. Otherwise I think he would have spent a lot more time hanging on the wall. Interesting that at every turn they make another old acquaintance pops up or falls before their feet. But it will leave a good impression on the people of Avallone that they help new arrivals in need. I wonder if the Tol Erreseans fell sometimes left alone with all the problems the elves of Middle-Earth bring with them. I guess when the crisis is over and they have a bit more time they will start to ask some questions about Middle-Earth and Gil-Galad and Elrond...

Author's reply

You might be right about poor Maedhros, Hel. *löl* It stands to reason that they would "run into" old acquaintances on the island, considering who they are. Certainly their willingness to render aid will leave a good impression on the elves of Avallone. And assuming that they don´t go from one crisis to another, they just may find time to ask questions about Elrond, especially Glorfindel. We´ll have to wait and see. Thanks for reviewing, Hel. I really appreciate it.

njomo · 18 September 2009 · Chapter 75: A Fateful Encounter in Avallónë

Hi Fiondil, I was waiting on tenterhooks the whole time I was reading this chapter...waiting for someone, anyone, to start asking questions about Elrond. I suppose Glorfindel might have to wait until he tracks down Earendil or Elwing to find out about Elrond's parentage, but, oh...I'm just not very patient! I guess I'll just have to wait and let Glorfindel figure it all out in due time. Hmmm...now I feel like Glorfindel way back in EI-1 when he says to Finrod "I-I’m sorry. I’ll be good." *grin* Thanks Fiondil. Joanne

Author's reply

Hi Joanne. I think Glorfindel is dying to ask about Elrond. He´s heard the name before, but he knows there is a time and a place and some things take precedence over others. I am sure he will begin asking questions when he thinks he´ll get an answer. Just be patient.

Tari · 17 September 2009 · Chapter 75: A Fateful Encounter in Avallónë

With all those healers, how can Lasgalad not be healed. Unfortunately, too many cooks in the kitchen never works. If he doesn't get better, he'll probabley be in big trouble. Could the arrival of both parties really be a coincidence?. I hope we find out next week. A 40 year old "elfling"? LOL I shouldn't laugh since I still consider myself to be in my 20's. (Yeah, right.)

Author's reply

I am not sure we will find out all too soon, not until Lasgalad is healed enough to tell his own story but we´ll see. As for the 40-year-old elfling... Elves are considered elflings until they come of age at 50. This particular elfling is the equivalent of a 15-year-old human.

Kitty · 14 September 2009 · Chapter 75: A Fateful Encounter in Avallónë

Interesting little detail about the delegation to Lindon *grin* Finrod was the better leader, no doubt, if 'Telerin fishmonger with pretensions to lordship' was what Fingon thought. In the end, he might have said it at the wrong time in the wrong place, and it would have been a bit ... um ... undiplomatic ... ;) Hm, it seems Finrod was meant to be there for the arrival of that ship. What a reunion! Glad he took charge; it will be good for Lasgalad to be among friends when he wakes up again. And Iorlas seems to be a nice guy – not everyone would leave his love behind out of care for an ill friend. Now we need Glorfindel to ask (or find out otherwise) who Lord Elrond is, I think ;) He would be delighted.

Author's reply

In the Silmarillion it is mentioned that Finrod sends his brother Angrod to Doriath in a diplomatic capacity. I think Fingolfin would have done something similar once he was established. Certainly Finrod was the better choice for the mission to Cirdan with Fingon in the state he was in. I am sure Glorfindel will ask soon enough. There are other things going on that will take up his attention for a time. He is in no particular hurry as they have to get through the Prgress before he can do anything about his search for answers.

Kitty · 14 September 2009 · Chapter 74: On To Avallónë

Sorry, I am a terrible reviewer lately, always lagging far behind. RL can be so annoying! That was a lovely feast; and it was nice that all the other people showed up for a picnic and that the kings mingled with them, though I hadn't expect any less from them. And of course I am all for the idea of a library in Tavrobel! Ah, now Glorfindel is finally starting his investigation about Eärendil and Elwing! He certainly took his time and then found an interesting source. Now he has at least an idea where to look for them. Can't wait to see how that plays out! Glorfindel sounded quite mature and wise when they were discussing Fëanor. And it's probably true – even without the theft of the Silmaril and the rebellion of the Noldor, there is no guarantee that nothing would have happened with Melkor still around. Hm, just wondering ... Eärendil and Elwing might feel much more welcome with at least some of the Reborn and Returnees, considering that these fought with the Atani and would appreciate them – and with it, the mixed heritage of these two – much more than the Amanians.

Author's reply

Don´t worry about it, Kitty. I am glad whenever you get the chance to review. I am glad you enjoyed this chapter. Glorfindel´s time with the Maiar has probably helped mature him a bit more than he has been, which can only be a good thing. We will see how his quest for Earendil and Elwing works out. I suspect your idea about Earendil and Elwing feeling more welcomed among the people of Tol Eressea is true. We´ll have to see how that pans out as well.

Sunny · 14 September 2009 · Chapter 75: A Fateful Encounter in Avallónë

Elrond has been mentioned in passing before – as Manwen’s teacher, and the one who, ahem, convinced Mithlas to sail. ("It was Lord Elrond who threw me aboard, then ordered the sailors to tie me up for good measure.") And now that his existence has been pointed out to the party from Aman, I don’t suppose it will be long before questions are asked about just _who_ he is, and the answers will then inevitably include whose son he is. Which will certainly fix Glorfindel’s interest on him. Coincidence? Suuuure...

Author's reply

No doubt about it, Sunny. *grin*

Fantasia · 14 September 2009 · Chapter 75: A Fateful Encounter in Avallónë

Well, now they will know about Lord Elrond and what is happening in Middle Earth. I can see Glorfindel learning more and more about his new mission. It will be a shock to all of them when finally his mission is announced. Love all the details of the island, its people and activities. I always have liked yours stories and I'm reading even is I don't review often. Thank you, Fantasia

Author's reply

Thank you, Fantasia, for letting me know how much you are enjoying me stories. I really appreciate it and am glad when you are able to review. I know I don´t always review every chapter of stories even though I am enjoying them. Anyway, I am glad you like the details of the island. We really know next to nothing about it so I have tried to fill in the gaps as best as I can. The same is true for the mainland as well.

Larner · 13 September 2009 · Chapter 74: On To Avallónë

And in the end he came to the son of Earendil and Elwing, to serve those of Imladris. Interesting to see the seeds of that time to come being planted.

Author's reply

Yes, indeed. We will see more of this eventually. Glorfindel´s quest is just beginning.

Hel · 13 September 2009 · Chapter 74: On To Avallónë

Well, I wondered when Glorfindel would start to ask more questions about Earedil and Elwing and where they are. And now he is planning to search for them. The reaction of the Valar to that will be interesting after conceiling the star and every mentioning of Earendil so long from him. The scene with the (more or less) impromptu picknik is very nice. As the behaviour of the kings although I expected no less of them.

Author's reply

Glorfindel has not been in a position lately to ask any questions of his fellow Elve (he knows he will not get any answers from the Valar and Maiar), so he has been biding his time. Glad you liked the picnic scene. I think the kings are real cool in the way they behave. Too bad many of our own leaders don´t act accordingly.

Sitara · 13 September 2009 · Chapter 74: On To Avallónë

It looks like Glorfindel finally decided to begin his search for Earendil and meeting his dear wife would be logically the next step on the road. As for his choice regarding the person to ask about Earendil....eh. Well, at least, he did learn where he could find Elwing, didn't he? I suppose we'll meet again Lindarion in your upcoming story, Fiondil, right? I look forward to it. "wolfish grin" One comment, though, for our Telerin prince...The Silmarils, a curse? Tell this to the Elves and Men freed from Morgoth's menace, to the Sindar and Nandor who were given the opportunity to be reunited with their kin only because one Silmaril enabled Earendil to come before the Valar and to plead also for some people who did no wrong against the Powers and, after more than two Ages, tell this to Frodo or to Sam. On the other hand, Glorfindel's wisdom has been a pleasant surprise. And Finrod is planning to write and publish a history of Beleriand? I had hoped he gave up on this idea. It won't be a pleasant affair, I must warn him. Another setting-up chapter, Fiondil, and I've to confess that Lindarion's fascinating opinions represented for me the most interesting part. "grin". I look forward to see more! P.S. Thank you for the explanations you gave me regarding the last chapter. They were much appreciated.

Author's reply

Hi Sitara. Well, naturally, while there was some good that came out of the Silmarils, some elves still feel that the price that was paid for them was too high. Glorfindel is growing up and so his natural and hard-earned wisdom is beginning to manifest itself. Glad you liked the chapter overall, especially Lindarion, and you are welcome. I am glad my explanations were of use to you.

njomo · 11 September 2009 · Chapter 74: On To Avallónë

Hi Fiondil, Yes, you were right. This chapter may satisfy me--for a short while at least! I think Glorfindel chose well when he singled out Lindarion. Glorfindel was able to fill in some information for Lindarion about those who lived in Endore, and Glorfindel got to talk to someone who maybe was more likely to be forthcoming without asking lot of questions. As to whether the Valar know what he's doing or not--haven't they all been planting the seeds for this step since Glorfindel was born--in spite of him learning about Eärendil earlier than they would have liked? The line "a gem-encrusted strand under bright stars where a lone elleth walked, softly singing" immediately set a beautiful picture in my mind's eye. I know Tolkien wrote about gems in the sand but I seem to always forget about it! Glorfindel's question "North, you say?" just about says it all. But it is good to see him thinking ahead and making plans and setting his own goals instead of what Arafinwë, Olwë and Ingwë, or even Findaráto might think he should do. One hopes none of them will put any obstacles in his way...but then I should just let the story unfold as you see fit to tell it. After all, no obstacles might make a pretty dull tale! Thanks Fiondil. Joanne

Author's reply

Hi Joanne. As for obstacles in Glorfindel´s way... most the time Glorfindel is his own obstacle. *lol* But we will see how it works out soon enough. Thanks for leting me know how much the "gem-encrusted strand" line painted a beautiful picture for you. I appreciate you telling me. I think it´s a lovely image as well.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 11 September 2009 · Chapter 72: Reunion With Old Friends

Hmm...a governor with a privy council. *nods* That sounds like a good idea for now, since the kings...well, except one but I don't want to be doing his dishes *grins*...haven't been Reborn yet. I can't wait to see how that comes out! Tye-melin Atar Fiondil!

Author's reply

I am sure many of my readers are anxious to see how all this works out, but you will just have to be patient. These things take time to work out (and to write out *grin*).

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 11 September 2009 · Chapter 71: Town Meeting

Well, the town meeting certainly went well...though I think the funniest parts of the chapter were the squabbling over "Lindaran" and "Teleran", and the comments about Ciryatan/Cirdan at the end. *grin* Rafts at Cuivenen, hmm? That reminds me...since Elwe, Olwe, and Elmo were brothers, I suppose they were in the second generation at Cuivenen, or something? *ponders* I wonder what their parents' names would have been? Or were they brothers according to Iluvatar, like Namo and Irmo? But they're Valar and those three aren't...hm. *ponders more* What do you think, Atar Fiondil? Tye-melin, Kaylee!

Author's reply

I believe that these three were brothers according to Iluvatar and have written them that way. Others may disagree but as Tolkien never says either way then it is open to interpretation.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 11 September 2009 · Chapter 70: At the Blue Dolphin

Ah...and the plot thickens...where do these rumors come from, then? From the Amaneldi or the Tol Eresseans? Hmm...*ponders* It's very useful for Finda to be able to shoe his own horse. *grin* I've been keeping up with the reading, by the way, just not the reviewing until now. Sorry, Atar Fiondil! *hugs* Tye-melin, Kaylee

Author's reply

Not to worry, Kaylee. Review when you can. As to where the rumors come from... only time will tell.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 11 September 2009 · Chapter 69: In Search of a Lost Soul

Atar Fiondil! Oh, these reviews are *incredibly* late...I'm sorry! I haven't reviewed in over a month...first I had to get home from England, then I got accepted into Everest College. *grin* It's been a very busy time for me. Well, now I'll catch up. I LOVE the way Finrod finds and comforts Edrahil here. It's rather funny (well, I'm sure you know what I mean) to think of Celeborn (and Galadriel's) reaction to Finrod thinking poor Cel was an Orc. I'm so glad they're both all right now, though! *hugs Edrahil and Finda* Tye-melin, atar indonyo! Kaylee

Author's reply

Hi Kaylee. Congrats on getting accepted into Everest College. Well done! I am glad you liked how Finrod comforts Edrahil. At least Edrahil knows he is in good company when it comes to attacking people while suffering the blood trance. *grin*

Tari · 9 September 2009 · Chapter 74: On To Avallónë

Fixing roads is a good idea (unless you put orange cones up "giggles"). There is always a reason for the things that happened in our past and that lead us to where we currently are. Unfortunately we don’t always see that. I know. It will be interesting to see how Glorfindel’s questions about Eärendil and Elwing play into his plans for the future.

Author's reply

I think most people would agree with your comment about things happening in our past. I know I do. As for Glorfindel, we´ll see how that pans out eventually.

Sunny · 8 September 2009 · Chapter 74: On To Avallónë

Does Glorfindel think he is being sneaky by starting his intelligence-gathering project on Eärendil by asking Lindarion about him? As opposed to questioning the Kings, that is? ;-) Well, nobody knows that he has a particular interest in Eärendil - except, presumably the Valar, and perhaps some of Námo's Maiar. And they are not likely to talk about it.

Author's reply

Very true, Sunny, which is why Glorfindel is going around by the back door so to speak in asking Lindarion about Earendil and Elwing. How that turns out will take up most of the rest of this story.

Mr.Namo · 8 September 2009 · Chapter 74: On To Avallónë

Yes!!! Glorfindel finally ask about Earendil. I've been waiting forever for this conversation. I just hope none of those pesky maiar were about to over hear it. *grin* BTW, are Glorfindel's maiar guards still about? I really liked the part with the kings and Ingwion visiting with the picnickers. It shows what kind of people they are. Very nice chapter. Now I'm just hoping that Ingwion's ring shows up some where before the book ends. :D Mr.Namo

Author's reply

I am not sure if Glorfindel´s Maiar are hanging around or not... if so, they are keeping a very low profile even from me. *lol* I´m glad you liked the picnic scene. Thanks for letting me know. Ingwion´s ring... ah....
