Many happy reunions at the end. And we know now why Ingwion was suffering so much. It´s good that Sador has his family back.
And again it´s interesting what reborn remember from their former lives.
Author's reply
Yes, many happy reunions. And even though we still do not know the fate of Sador's parents and sister, at least there is the satisfaction that some of his family from Doriath has been restored to him.
And yes, it is interesting what the Reborn remember from their former lives and what they do not. *grin*
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Hel. I appreciate it.

And so it begins. The War of the Rings. Glorfindel's training will be much needed as will his friendship. I'm sure Elrond never expected to hear word from his parents, much less having Glorfindel as a friend and confidant. This had to be quite a shock for him.
Author's reply
So it begins, indeed, Tari, though the War of the Rings is another Age and a half a way. Elrond was very shocked, but it was a welcomed shock I am sure and we know that he and Glorfindel will become very good friends. Thanks for all your reviews. I've enjoyed reading each and every one of them.

Beautiful end! Perfect! Love the way that Glorfindel intruduced himself to Elrond. You can see the beginnig of a wonderful friendship. Lindon don't know what has hit them, better to get ready.
I wish I can say more, but I'm not a writer, only know that you are one of the best and one of my favorites writers.
Thank you very much for this wonderful tale. It has been a long ride and I enjoyed every word of it. Waiting for your new stories.
Thanks again

Author's reply
Hi Fantasia. I'm so glad you liked how this story ends. And thank you for your kind compliment. I appreciate it and I appreciate all your reviews and words of support. It has indeed been a long ride, but there is more to come. I will be posting the first chapter (actually a Prologue) of my Darkening story on 30 August. Next week I will be posting a couple of Loom stories to keep everyone happy until Darkening gets posted. *grin*

· Chapter 149: Epilogue: Return to Middle-earth
Another great morning. Thank you.
I'm glad that Finrod and Glorfindel had the time needed to come to terms with their separation. The "sword scene" was classic Namo & Glorfindel. Great!
Is this epilogue really the last chapter of Elf II, or will there be a bit more? The ending is perfect as is, with Elrond finally finding some peace again, but SoA still shows the tale as "in progress".
I've so enjoyed these stories. I've loved Elrond since I first met him in The Hobbit way back in the 60s, knowing little to nothing about him. Then Glorfindel came along in The Fellowship. There was even less about him. Elf I & II gave the reasons behind immediate appeal I felt for him, just as the (too few! hint, hint) stories of Elrond and his family did for that initial connection with Elrond.
So looking forward to The Darkening as well as the gap-fillers to come.
Author's reply
Hi Viresse. Thank you so much for your lovely review. This is actually the final chapter, but I will be posting a Character List on Friday, which is why the status is still "in progress". I'm going over the list to make sure I got everyone on it and the names are spelled correctly. *grin*
I am glad you have enjoyed "Elf, Interrupted". I began writing it because, like you, I fell in love with Glorfindel and wished he had had a larger role in LOTR. Tolkien's description of him in the Fellowship was just intriguing enough that I wanted to find out more about him, hence these stories.
I hope to write more stories about Glorfindel, both in Aman and with Elrond, but I cannot guarantee when they will appear. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the upcoming Darkening story. I'm very excited about it.
Thanks so much for all your reviews and faithfully reading "Elf, Interrupted". Words cannot express my gratitude.

· Chapter 148: Reunions (Part Two)
Yesss! Very satisfying. Glorfindel has a purpose, several people have their families back - things are hopping right along. I have an impulse (easily suppressed, which is a good thing) to break into the chorus from Paint your Wagon (I'm on my Way). I really liked the oathswearing with Earendil chapter before last, Eonwe was quite right.
By the way, Olwen that wants to marry Ingwion is a different Olwen from Beleg's mother, right? And at some point you're going to have to mention how Beleg got over his acute seasickness - must have been some potent ginger biscuits!
Keep it up - you can't stop now!
Rick
Author's reply
Hi Rick. Glad you liked this chapter and the oathswearing with Eärendil. And I remember that musical. Good song. *grin*
Olwen is the youger daughter of Olwë and Lirillë, named after her aunt who remained behind in Beleriand and eventually became Beleg's mother.
As for Beleg getting over his seasickness... I might write about that in a short story or something. It's not something that will be mentioned here. One of my other readers suggested a story detailing the mapping expedition to the South with Falmaron, Beleg and Vondo, so if I ever write such a story, his seasickness will be addressed there.
One more chapter to go with "Elf, Interrupted" but there's the Darkening story to look forward to. *grin*
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Rick. I much appreciate it.

· Chapter 146: An Oath Received
I've been waiting for this announcement since Elf I - very glad that the Valar did not spring it on him only days (or hours) before a decision was needed. And very glad (and not surprised) that he immediately gave his oath.
Now I can sit back and relax... NOT - one can never relax with the Reborn - nor with a certain writer named Fiondil.... *chuckles dryly*
Author's reply
I imagine a lot of people have been waiting for this announcement for a long time, Agape. *grin* I think the Valar realized Glorfindel needed a definite goal to look forwards to and they probably weren't too sure just when they would be sending him back to Middle-earth, just that they eventually would so they wanted to give him plenty of notice.
And you can't relax too much, as you still have a few more chapters to get through. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
Perfect choice. And may I say that the heightened sense of 'who' was written extremely well.....
Author's reply
Glad you approve of the choice, Agape. And thanks for the compliment. It was difficult to write tihs without actually giving the game away. I'm glad it came off as well as it did. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
How different this reunion was compared to the ones in the past. Everyone was just glad to have family members back. There will be no anger towards the Reborn for having died. I still remember how hateful the Once Born had been in the past.
I do hope this is not the end of this tale. There is still so much more to be told, especially regarding Glorfindel.
Author's reply
Well, this group consists of Reborn and those closely associated with them, but I think attitudes have changed dramatically among the Amanians, at least with respect to the Noldorin Reborn, and now with the Vanyar finally being released, even the Vanyar cannot complain of unfair dealings with their people. *grin*
Unfortunately, Tari, "Elf, Interrupted" is indeed coming to an end, though I am hoping to write some sequels or companion stories similar in scope to "The Findaráto Diaries", so we are bound to see more of your favorite characters, especially Glorfindel. In the meantime, you have my Darkening story, which I plan to begin posting at the end of the month, to look forward to.
Certainly the chapter was well named! Now--to see what all this MEANS!
Author's reply
What it means, Larner, is that we have reached the end of the story except for an Epilogue. What it means is that the Vanyar are finally being released from Mandos, the identity of the person Ingwion has been mourning finally revealed as a way of introducing the upcoming Darkening story, certain events during that time having been hinted at throughout this story (a central part of that story being how Ingwion's twin brother died and why). Of course, not every loose end has been tied up: we still do not know the fate of Sador's parents and sister, for instance, and we do not see Finrod's wedding to Amarië but that is just the way life is... full of loose ends. And of course, it leaves it open for future stories to fill in the gaps.
Count me a bit confused. I understand bringing everyone together, and I love that so many reborns that are part of these families have been able to join them, but in other tales of yours (even EI Part 1) you have reborns met at the gates after they have time in Lorien. Now, all of a sudden, they are re-acclimated? Or did they already spend time in Lorien before being released to their families?
Ingwion's joy was wonderful. To get a twin back - he will now feel complete. And Sador finally gets some of his more immediate family back, something that he has been aching for. A nice chapter, tying up several loose ends. But I'm still confused - LOL.
- Erulisse (one L)
Author's reply
Sorry if you're feeling confused, Erulisse. In point of fact, these particular Reborn have been in Lórien for some little while now, though they are probably not quite ready to be released into elven society just yet. It is something like what happened with Vondo and his family when they were reunited with him while he was still in Lórien, though that was unplanned. The same thing is going on here, and actually, there is nothing that says that the Reborn *have* to pass through the Gates of Return before being reunited with their loved ones, that is simply the method Irmo has used as a way of symbolizing to both the Reborn, and especially their families, the realities of dying and re-embodiment. The Valar apparently decided to do things a little differently for these particular Reborn and their families, that's all. Hope that clears up some of the confusion. *grin*
Just when things seem to be running smoothly, the Valar send a messenger to summon some of the Elves. It seems there must always an air of mystery around to keep the Elves on their toes.
One thing I do love though, is all the hugging going on all the time. I'd get along just fine with them because I love hugs.
Author's reply
Hi Tari. Well, the Valar do like to be mysterious. *grin* I'm glad you like the hugging. A hug goes a long way towards healing hurts and letting the other person know how much you care for them. Would that there was more hugging in the world; it might be a nicer place. Thanks for reading and reviewing.
I love it! great chapter, I'm so sad that the story is almost finished, but I know that you will have another one soon. Know that I'll be reading every tine that you update, even if sometines I don't review.
Hope that you have more of your short stories, because I'll miss some of the characters that won't be in your next one, especially Glorfindel.
Thank you Fiondil.
Author's reply
Hi Fantasia. I'm so glad you liked this chapter. Thanks for letting me know. Ido hope to write more stories about these characters in one form or another. And do not despair... Glorfindel does appear in the Darkening story, though it's more of a cameo role than anything, but I think you will like it even so. Thanks for faithfully reading this story and reviewing when you were able. I greatly appreciate it.
What a lovely way to start my Monday. A break in the heat and humidity, a large glass of iced coffee, and a lovely new chapter from Fiondil. Life doesn't get much better.
Wow, Namo is really starting to clear out Mandos isn't he? I'm glad for Ingwion but even more so for Netilmire and Sador. I feel closer to them than to Ingwion. I'm sure that The Darkening will help bring him into better focus for me though.
One more chapter, and I can sit down and re-read both of the Glorfindel novels together. I've so been looking forward to this. I hope you don't mind, but I've put the first on my Nook and planned to do so for the second as well. If you'd rather I not, please let me know and I'll remove the first.
Author's reply
Hi Viresse. What a lovely compliment. *grin* Thank you.
I guess Námo needs the room for others and that's why he's kicking out some of the Vanyar.*grin* I hope that you will appreciate Ingwion a bit more when you read the Darkening story. I'm rather fond of him, myself.
I have no objections to you putting these (or any other) stories on your Nook. In fact, I am honored that you consider this story good enough to grace your Nook. You may want to reload the first Elf, Interrupted book as I have recently gone through it and made some corrections to it, cleaning the text up as much as possible. I am presently doing the same with the second book, and I hope to get done with that perhaps by the Labor Day weekend, so you might want to hold off loading it to your Nook until after that.
Thanks again for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.
Holy Valar...Wow, what an ending!
I love the high note you finished this on! Yes, yes, I know, not finished exactly, you said one more chapter. I wonder just when Glorfi's parents will be released? When Arda is Renewed? When Glorfi makes it back to Aman? (Or does he? "Elf Academy" comes to mind...)
Sorry for not reviewing as consistently as I ought to have been. It's not for lack of interest, I promise I've read every single chapter when it's come out! I am glad you've given us such a beautiful, wonderful story about Glorfindel and friends, Atar Fiondil. It's been quite the ride, EI 1&2 both. I do hope the Muse gives you more about them. Maybe an "EI3: Brothers Apart" sort of thing, trading between Finda in Aman and Glorfi in Ennor?
It's so nice to see reunions, though. Especially *that* one! Looking forward to the Darkening story very much!
Tye-melin, Atar Fiondil!
Kaylee
PS: Still job-hunting. At least school is done with!
Author's reply
Hi Kaylee. "Elf Academy" is AU to "Elf, Interrupted" in the sense that in the true Elf, Interrupted universe, Glorfindel returns to Aman sometime in the Fourth Age.
I have no intention at the moment of writing an EI-3, but as they say "never say never" and so you never know. I have had plans of writing a sequel to EI in which Glorfindel returns to Aman and must now readjust to life in the Blessed Realm but I haven't put anything down on paper yet. Perhaps when I finish the Darkening story that will be the next project. We'll see.
Glad you enjoyed this chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing when you've been able. I hope you find a job soon. Best of luck!
Tye-melin,
Atar Fiondil
Oh, wow! Is everything wrong becoming right again?
Ingalure was Ingwion's twin? Sweet Eru, no wonder he was in such dispare(sp), poor Ellon.
Netilmire and Sador have part of their family back, Lirulin and Allasiel and Earnur also have family memebers back even some they had never met? What a joyfull time for all! No wonder the Vala and Mair were all of a twitter!
This story must be coming to an end, you identified a stuffed toy, Calennor, what a good name for a dragon!
You really are trying to end this story on a high note.
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
Hi Lynda. Yes, everything wrong is becoming right again. And yes, Ingaluarë is Ingwion's twin. We will meet him again in my Darkening story and will learn the circumstances of his death.
And now there is but one more chapter, an Epilogue, really, which will tie up some more loose ends and leave a few untied so there will be scope for future tales.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Lynda. I'm glad you like the toy dragon's name.
I so look forward to my cup of coffee on Monday and Friday mornings. Don't know what I'll do when you've finished... Maybe take to reading the stack of Fables in the drawer. Wonderful back-world you've built here! I should have made myself a Family Tree to help keep everyone straight; if I do, I'll send you a copy.
Caught a mistype: They've arrived in Lorien and are following Lord Manwe to find Lord Irmo, and Glorfindel "gave Sador and Alassiel an encouraging smile as they followed Lord Irmo." Oops - wrong Vala! I hate to see marring in such perfection. ^_^
Author's reply
Thanks for the type alert, Angwen. Not sure how I missed it. I'm am glad to hear that you've been enjoying this story. Thanks for letting me know. Not to worry, though. I will be posting my Darkening story beginning two weeks from today, so you have something to look forward to. This story will have many of the same characters (and loads of new ones) from "Elf, Interrupted" but we will see them from a much earlier perspective. I hope you enjoy it. And if you ever do make a family tree, I look forward to seeing it.
Ingwion is marrying? Now that’s a surprise. After all, we haven’t even had Finrod’s wedding yet *grin* But I’m happy for Ingwion.
Glad to learn the next tournament is going to be held in Aewellond; in my eyes, it’s a sign that the various groups of Elves are growing closer to each other instead of separating themselves from the others as they did in the past. That road ought to be a great help, as it would shorten the journey and people wouldn’t have to rely on ships alone – which has to be a problem in winter.
Morcocáno as Sador’s deputy is certainly a surprise. Seems that guy has finally come to his senses and is showing his better qualities. Good. And of course, Meril will keep him in line *lol*
Ha, I wonder who has more fun with the training – Glorfindel or the Maiar?
Anyway, now I am wondering why they are all summoned this time. Can’t wait for the next update … hm, should be up later today, so I will probably know soon.
Oh, and I can *so* see Netilmirë ranting about her fellow guildmasters! And the end was fun. Certain Elves will never grow up completely, will they? (But then, who wants to be all grown up anyway – I certainly don’t!)
It seems you are beginning to tie up loose ends, and I have to admit, I dread the end of this tale. It was a part of my life for so long!
Author's reply
Hi Kitty. Yes, Ingwion will soon be marrying. We'll see something of how he and Olwen actually met in my Darkening story, which I plan to start posting two weeks from today (next week I will post a couple of new Loom stories as a sort of breather between this story and the Darkening story).
The road being built and the upcoming tournament are signs that Aewellond is beginning to see itself as part of Eldamar proper. In a way, Aewellond has been a test project of the Valar before they start opening up the South to colonization. Bringing Aewellond more closely into contact with the rest of Eldamar is the first step towards the Elves thinking of themselves as a single people rather than separate clans and kingdoms. Tol Eressëa is another case in point with the different groups of Elves living together with their common history of warfare in Beleriand (and now in the rest of Middle-earth). Until the Elves could prove that they could work together, the Valar were reluctant to open the rest of the continent to them.
And Morcocáno isn't really a bad guy, just tortured by what he experienced in Middle-earth. That he is now Lieutenant Governor of the island shows that there's more to him than meets the eye. Of course, Sador's no fool, so having Meril keep an eye on things is a wise move on his part. *grin*
As for who's having more fun with the training, Glorfindel or the Maiar, I'm sure both groups would insist that they are and be right. *LOL*
And I am indeed tying up loose ends, or as many as I can. Some, like Finrod and Amarië's wedding, I just could not include in this story, but hope to write about them in gapfillers, either short stories or multi-chapter stories on the order of "The Findaráto Diaries".
I know a lot of people (including me) will hate to see "Elf, Interrupted" end, but you knew it had to eventually. *grin* It's been a major part of my life for so long, more so than for the readers, since I've been writing this story nearly continuously for these last four years. It's been a great run and I've enjoyed every minute of it. At least you know that the Darkening story is coming up soon, so that's something to look forward to.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Kitty. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Ouch. Considering how badly he was pining for his gwador before Glorfindel got released from Mandos, it was only to be expected that Finrod didn’t take the news very well that Glorfindel was supposed to return to Ennorath.
Though I am pleased that the Valar finally told him and made it so clear that it was his choice if he wanted to go or not. All in all, he reacted quite well. But then, I believe Glorfindel isn’t the type to sit around and twiddle his thumbs; he needs something to do, and while Finrod has his work in Lórien, Glorfindel hasn’t really found something yet. And Manwë seems to think along the same line. He was probably pleased that Glorfindel decided then and there to go back as asked, not waiting with his decision for ages.
Author's reply
And you're the first one to recognize this, Kitty, how much Finrod pined for Glorfindel way in the beginning. But he'll come around and accept the inevitable eventually. He just needs a bit of time.
Glorfindel needs a definite goal in front of him, so being told now about his mission will help him focus. He's less likely to get into mischief that way. *grin* I'm sure Manwë was estatic when Glorfindel decided right then and there to go to Ennorath, even if his prime motiviation is to serve Eärendil rather than the Elder King.
Thanks for reading and reviewing, Kitty. I appreciate it.
So the invited are Netilmírë, Arafinwë, Eärwen and Ingwion? And none of them will regret the journey? Interesting. What they have common? A husband and two sons still missing?
(Still struggling with certain images of the Elder King)
Author's reply
We'll find out just what they have in common soon enough, Serindë. Can't get that image out of your mind, huh? *evil grin*

Finrod took the news better than I thought.
But I´m not surprised that Glorfindel is thinking positive about the proposal and giving Eärendil and Manwe his oaths.
Author's reply
Hi Hel. Well, he was pretty upset, but he eventually saw reason. *grin* Glorfindel, of course, is happy to have a challenge before him and a goal, so he's attitude is more positive than Finrod's at this time.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.
I´m wondering what the Valar are planning now. To collect these elves on such a short notice.
Netilmírë´s ranting about her fellow guildmasters is funny even more so when asked about her dislike she is startled. Even if she has become more diplomatic, meaning she is not telling them to their faces how idiotic they are, in privete she is still the same. It´s good to see Sador so happy with his life and position and that Morcocáno has develovep as well as he has. I think at certain points in his life he would have sabotaged Sador to get the position as Cano himself.
And I´m happy that you will finally write about the Darkening after giving so many hints and remarks. And again in this chapter about Ingwion and his relationship to Olwen.
A story about Falmaron and Beleg and their mapping expedition to the South would also be interesting.
Author's reply
We'll find out what the Valar are up to soon enough, Hel.
I'm glad you found Netilmírë so funny. She'll never change, not compeletly, and that's what makes her so endearing. Sador, happily, has settled in his role as Cáno, and no doubt Morcocáno, seeing how competent he is, is happily supporting him, which is why he's now Lieutenant Governor.
The Darkening story will appear in a couple of weeks. I'm having my beta re-read the opening chapters to make sure they are perfect before I start posting. It won't be long now and I hope the wait will be worth it for you and my other readers. I've been working on the story off-and-on for the last year and a half and I am about 3/4 done with the tale.
A story about Falmaron and Beleg (and Vondo!) on their mapping expedition to the South does sound interesting, and we may even see it. Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate it and I also appreciate you taking the time to read and review.
Good, I always wanted to see Glorfindel's friends reaction to his parting. At last, we know Finrod. I can picture them asking to everyone coming in a boat from Middle Earth for news..
I didn't remember the romance of Olwen and Ingwion, or any story.
I have been travelling and was behind in my reading, but I'm catching up now. Great chapters. Thank you
Author's reply
Hi Fantasia. The story about Ingwion and Olwen won't be found in "Elf, Interrupted", except obliquely. We will actually see it in my upcoming story about the Darkening, which is when the two met and began to fall in love. Circumstances drove them apart and they only renewed their relationship when they met again during the Winter Solstice Council in Valmar where Sador was chosen as Cáno.
Glad you like these chapters. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.
