I love this story! I am a bit worried but I have no doubt that you will get it all sorted out eventually. :) what did you mean when you said that Beleg was one of Oromë's and Findaráto was the Fëanturi’s and Glorfindel was Manwë’s? That made me curious. Will we ever know? will the elves ever know? well another great chapter, I'm so glad there are authors like you out there who write such wonderful stories!!!
Author's reply
Thanks. I'm glad you are enjoying this story. As for the various elves 'belonging' to various Valar... Finrod of course is an apprentice to both Irmo and Námo, as described in Elf, Interrupted: Book One: Glorfindel Redux. Beleg and Glorfindel have been 'adopted' as it were by Oromë and Manwë, respectively (Sador is also Oromë's), though neither ellomn is presently aware of this and in Glorfindel's case he may never be told that for all intents and purposes he is Manwë's apprentice. You may recall in 'Book One' that when Glorfindel was ready to leave the Gardens of the Reborn and move on to Lórien, that it was Manwë himself who sent him on his way rather than Námo or even one of Námo's Maiar which would be the usual procedure. ALso, Manwë cared for Glorfindel personally in the cave when he could have assigned anyone to the task. I'm glad that you find my stories so wonderful. Thank you and thank you for reviewing and letting me know. I really appreciate it.
Hel · 6 July 2008 · Chapter 17: Aftermath
Námo is having a gift for getting in trouble - who would have thougth... I think by now Nienna as his older sister just knows his ways, so that he get cought. Could it be that even Irmo and Námo underestimates their older sister at times? The families of the two lost ones as well as of the rescuers will be happy to hear that everyone is safely back. But the entwining of the feas of Beleg and Finrod doesn´t sound good. I hope the take no damage out of it. As ever I can´t await too read the next chapter.
Author's reply
i'm sure Námo and Irmo do underestimate their older sister from time to time... families being what they are. And everyone (or almost everyone) will be very happy to know that Finrod and GLorfindel are back safe and sound (or about as sound as they are every likely to be. *grin*). We'll see what consequences Finrod and Beleg suffer because of the entwining in later chapters.

Incredibly good chapter... I can hardly comment because so much of it was profound... and a well needed conclusion. Needless to say, I've got my fingers crossed for Namo and company!

Thanks, Agape. I'm glad you liked the chapter and found much of it profound. We'll see in the next one just how everything gets resolved.

Hm, Namo should have no trouble untangling Beleg and Finrod, especially if Vaire has him helping to untangle her threads when she is working on her tapistries, just remind him not to pull on the knots and no giving up in frstration and cutting and knotting them together! Maybe Olorin could give him a hand?! Lynda
Author's reply
We'll see just how well Námo and Irmo do with this problem in the next chapter. I don't think helping Vairë is going to do much good here, myself. It's a lot trickier operation than untangling threads. *grin*
Kaylee · 6 July 2008 · Chapter 17: Aftermath
Well, I would say there's something in that broth, but I know there isn't really, meldonya. Now I'm really worried for Finda and Beleg...Will they be all right??? *hugs them* *hugs Glorfi, Ingwion, Laurendil and Sador* What is it with Sador that everyone keeps commenting on? *still wants to know why he was released early* *grin* and that bit about the Reborn existing on a slightly different plane than the Once-born is still hard for me to figure out, lol. Excellent chapter, meldonya! Just creates more questions, though, lol! ~Kaylee!!
Author's reply
No.. there's nothing in the broth... it's just broth. *grin* WHat these ellyn experienced was draining both physically and spiritually and they need to regain their strength. We will eventually see what the Valar are hoping for from Sador later in the story... much later. *grin* As Oromë explained to the Four Hunters, everything in Eä resonates with an echo of the original Song that brought the universe into being. That included the fëar of the Children. When one of them dies and undergoes Judgment, something in the frequency changes and they are no longer resonating on the same leve as the other Children but on a lsightly different frequency. Even the Valar are unsure what that means; they've simply noted the difference. Not all questions are meant to be answered... or at least not immediately. You will just have to be patient and wait. *grin* Glad you liked the chapter, though. Thanks for reviewing.
Kitty · 6 July 2008 · Chapter 17: Aftermath
Love the image of the Maiar hovering over their charges like mother hens *grin* And Manveru and Erunáro having to fight Eönwë and Fionwë ... *snicker* Huh – fëar entwined? How did they do *that*?? It truly seems as if there are no bounds to the trouble these particular Reborn can get into! I was not sure what was wrong with Beleg, but I *never* would have guessed that! This just gets better and better Irmo is so right, and in more than one way – positive, for the readers, and negative, for our dear elves. Can’t wait for the update (as usual) – want *so* to know how that turns out! And I hope the Valar are able to sort these two out – literally! – without too much trouble and damage to their fëar. It would be such a nasty shock for their friends and the Kings, particularly Arafinwë and Olwë, when something went wrong! P.S. Is the Maia’s name Aldarondur or Aldarondil? You’re using both versions here.
Author's reply
Thanks for the heads-uo on the name. It should have been Aldarondur all along. I've gone in and made the corrections. We will see how these two elves entwined themselves and how they are extricated in the next chapter.

*lightbulb comes on* Aha...hmm...interesting. So perhaps, the ability to move elves in their bodies between dimensions shall become necessary around the time Numenor sinks. And this was how they were able to 'transport' elves in Last Messenger mebbe. Interesting.... There is so much priceless humor in this chapter, I would fill up the review with quotes! But I must hit a couple of them. "So instead he sent you two," Oromë stated. Manveru gave the Vala a nod. "We practically had to fight Eönwë and Fionwë for the honor, ...... Oromë nodded his understanding, then gave the younger Vala a wicked grin. "And I understand you lost a bet with your sister. How’s that working out for you?" Námo merely smirked. "So far I’ve managed to get Vorondil and Aldundil into so much trouble with my little... er... suggestions, they’ll be working out their punishments until the day after the Ending of Arda." ...... *snort* GACK! Entwined elven fëar doesn't sound good. I hope they can untangle them! Wonderful chapter, Fiondil! I loved every minute!

Hi NiRi. I'm glad you found a lot of humor in this chapter. Entwined fëar does not sound good at all. We'll see how it all works out in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing.
Agape4Gondor · 2 July 2008 · Chapter 16: Beleg and Butterflies
First off, let me say I'm glad Beleg was finally 'found' - and I loved how mesmerized he was with the butterflies! Still an elfling... My heart went out to F & G - the thought that they might have to die again... Yikes! I could just see the two of them 'stepping back' from Namo! I had to LOL when Aule was surprised that his pendant 'worked!' And I loved Finrod's reprimand of Sador... he knows his gwador well.... I loved F's comforting G when the younger Elf sugggested it would have been better for him to have stayed in Mandos....... very sad moment for both of them... Poor Namo - having to SHOUT to be heard... having to 'deal' with Sador - and finally helping him calm down. I love the relationship Sador has already with Beleg... very nice indeed! The tension was excellent as they all sat about trying to 'make' the pendant and the passage back to Valinor work... very nice! Another cliff-hanger - you fiend...........
Author's reply
I don't think you have to be an elfling (or any kind of child) to be mesmerized by butterflies... I know I'm always mesmerized by them whenever I see them. I'm sure F & G were both wondering how many Valar and Maiar they could take with them before they were 'killed'. lol It had to have been a scary thought. Luckily, it didn't come to that. Námo was definitely in... er... Námo-mode when he had to deal with the very upset ellyn, especially Sador. Good thing none of them were stupid enough to protest or they would really have gotten the 'Mandos-treatment'. lol Oh, c'mon... admit it... you just LOVE my dliff-hangers. lol Thanks for reviewing. I really enjoy reading your reviews.
Agape4Gondor · 2 July 2008 · Chapter 15: What the Pendant Brought
I must tell you I am most enjoying this Book Two... The realization that Finrod was fighting Sauron and not G must have been hideous for him... I liked that both Elves 'held back' during the tournament - but found it odd that everyone knew G was but not that F was... I dearly loved the fact that G did not 'know' any of the Songs of Power... :-) I liked Finrod's abhorrence of 'calling up' such power as he did - I'm glad it was unintentional... And Finrod's noting that the two of them would never be allowed, by the Valar 'in the same room together' ... And I howled as G talked about how many Valar it would take... silly Elf! I loved the 'sight' of Tulkas and a few others rolling their eyes! I had to giggle when G wondered what good it would do for both of them to hold the pendant... running out of options indeed... I loved the little gasp that escaped them both as they began trying to 'return' home... And, of course, I loved Beleg's showing up - I'm glad he wasn't off in the hinterlands somewhere and alone!!!! Fun chapter!

Hi, Agape. I'm glad you are enjoying EI2. I thought is was ironically funny that everyone *knew* Glorfindel was holding back, but never suspected that Finrod was too. lol I'm sure that EVERYONE is willing for them NOT to do a rematch or be in the same room together. I'm sure the Valar all found their discussion about how many Valar it would take quite amusing. Beleg showing up... well, it just had to happen, didn't it? *grin* Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Agape4Gondor · 30 June 2008 · Chapter 14: What the Elder King Revealed
Excellent chapter!!! I loved G's telling - 'Finda ran away' - good grief is friendship not sacred - but it made me really chuckle. Poor Finrod does not look the friend he really is... I loved how he dropped his wine... good grief is wine not precious - but again it made me giggle. I loved how G leaned against the Elder King's legs... very nice touch. Poor Finrod's 'I would have ended up strangling you,' is quite correct... any amount of whining... even from a loved one - can drive a poor soul to drink... what am I saying... he dropped his goblet :-) And G's counter to that was quite fun... I liked that Olorin's tone was respectful... I was a wee bit concerned for a moment. I loved the screaming line - imagined crimes my foot! I absolutely ROTFL with Eonwe's 'running out of pages' and Manwe's 'we can only hope!' Such fun moments in the midst of this really difficult time. I'm glad the Valar are keeping a sense of humor! I loved Manwe's 'communion' with Eru. Very nice. I find G's nightmares to be horrendous... and five times - truly a dedicated, loyal Elf... bless his little heart! Nay! Bless his big heart! And his righteous anger at the irrelevant remark! I'm very glad Eru stepped in - someone had to! I loved Finrod's support of G's anger, but also his staying it for the moment. 'castigate all the Valar on your behald' - what an awesome moment and a great line!!! I had to 'aw' after reading it. I loved the whole pendant thingee do - very interesting concept with Aule... and Finrod's again support, comfort, and courage to face this newest challenge 'together.' Nice indeed. Again - excellent chapter.

Hel · 30 June 2008 · Chapter 16: Beleg and Butterflies
Beleg - Beren: I don´t know why I mixed them up. At least they lived in the same age and in the same country. Do you think they rent the Royal Hunting Loge out? I really need a break from work. And it sounds like a nice, quiet and peacefull place. Well most of the time. I mean those times when there are no fighting or screaming elves. I wonder how stupid Beleg felt when he said he followed the butterflies. It is a completely reasonable thing to do in his situation, but when you say things like that aloud it sounds stange. And talking butterflies non the less. "If you think I’m going to re-embody these two again, you’re sorely mistaken." That was not the best thing to say at that moment. No wonder that Glorfindel and Finrod get worried. Who wouldn´t? Using the connection between Beleg and Sador as a leading rope to follow back. I like that thought and even more that the Valar gave them a shove. It´s a nice picture: the three elves in front of a door and some Valar behind them shoving them through. An all surrounded by butterflies. Great chapter. I wonder in which kind of trouble they get next.
Author's reply
The names can get confusing at times especaily since they are so similar sounding... I think Beleg probably wanted to crawl under a rock as soon as the words left his lips, in a manner of speaking, *lol*, but since neither Finrod nor Glorfindel made fun of him, I guess he decided it wasn't as stupid as it sounded. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter and thought it was great. As for trouble... it won't be too far behind these particular ellyn. They seem to collect trouble the way rugrats collect dirt. *lol* Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Butterflies traditionally represent the soul, whether living, dying or dead. They also represent transformation and rebirth. We'll see what effect all this will have on the Elves in the next couple of chapters.

Rhyselle · 30 June 2008 · Chapter 16: Beleg and Butterflies
Oooh! Wonderful chapter! I love all of the Valar here, but particularly how Orome gets to shine (although I wonder if Manwe will be having a discussion with him about not letting the rest of the Valar know about what he was planning once everything has been resolved). Namo and Orome's teamwork was just as much fun to read in this tale as it was in "Wars of the Valar". I did snicker at Glorfindel's and Finrod's reactions when they thought that they'd have to die and go to Mandos in order to get out of the 10th Dimension. As if backing away would help if it were really necessary to do that! The butterflies and Beleg make such a fantastic image in my mind. :) Oh, I wish I could draw that scene! Well, you know that I wish I could draw LOTS of scenes from your stories. :) The return was spectacular and I think I'm glad the Orome took the ellyn to the hunting lodge to do this because I can just see the way everyone else would freak out had this occurred in Vanyamar. In regards to Beleg's screaming... well, I just am not worried about it. Especially after remembering that not all screaming is a bad thing in this fic... I wonder Whose embrace our newest Reborn brother is awakening in... *grin*
Author's reply
Thanks, Rhyselle. I'm glad you liked the Valar in this chapter, especially Oromë. Not sure about Manwë taking him aside for a long talk, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did. *grin* I doubt if Finrod and Glorfindel were thinking straight at that point when they thought perhaps they might have to die again and Námo deliberately ignoring them just made them even more fearful of their fate. Luckily, of course, they didn't have to resort to such drastic measures. *grin* As for Beleg... well we'll see just whose embrace he's in soon ehough. *lol* Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.

I am so glad I waited to look at this this morning! Think I've got a good suspicion on what's happening with Beleg... Awesome, incredible, astonishing imagery and symbolism here. And Namo being "not nice" when he needs to be, as much as he cares. Too much is at stake, and they needed to be reminded of just *who* they're dealing with... As for Beleg, *grin*...this is gonna be good. Well worth waiting for the next two chapters. More, later. Cat
Author's reply
Thanks Cat... I'm pleased that you find the imagery in this chapter so incredible... and symbolic. Námo knows how to not be nice when needed and the Reborn tend to be more familiar in their intereactions with himm than the Once-born and tend to forget sometimes just *who* they're dealing with... so this is a nice reminder. And I'm glad you think the next two chapters are well worth waiting for... so do I. *grin* Thanks for reviewing.

They're back! Yay! I'm so glad! *breathes sigh of relief* Oh wow, that was an intense chapter! Though pretty much all went as I had guessed (save the doors and hallways Beleg and Sador had to imagine), I was so anxious if it would truly work - and work well! I love these butterflies. It is so nice that they turn up instead of all going black or the like and then lead the elves on their way. Though, as much as I enjoyed them, I'd prefer not to see them again if I get to see them only in connection with such a drama ;-) And now that they made the (near) impossible possible, all of them deserve a big hug, particularly Beleg *hugs all of them*. Their friends and family and Finrod's entourage will al be *so* glad that they are back and hopefully safe and sound *worried look at the screaming Beleg* Thank you, Fiondil - this long awaited chapter was great! And now I have to run to work ;-)

"Then, from up in the loft, Beleg began screaming" -- Hm. = It's dark and he doesn't know where he is? = He's upset because Glorfindel and Finrod aren't with him, and he assumes things have Gone Wrong? Especially since Sador isn't there either, so he doesn't realize he's back where he's supposed to be. Or maybe he's afraid that although *he* got back, Sador & co. are now missing? [After all, he's still *very* young.] = He's surprised because the loft is full of butterflies? And everyone's unconscious *except* Beleg. *No* idea about *that* one. I had totally foregotten about Beleg. At least they aren't alone anymore. I like the descriptiosn of what it feel slike for them to use the stone working together. I wonder how three of them will be able to work together to get out. The descriptisn fo the song of power from Finrod's POV was fascintaing. It's so amazing how incredibly powerful these elevs are. One tends to froget when they are contantly overshadowed by maiar and valar. Love your gemological knowledge as always.

I think a number of people forgot about Beleg for a bit. We do tend to forget how powerful the Elves were (and the 'magic' aspects of that power that many fanfic writers tend to ignore) and so I really wanted to stress that here. We'll find out soon just how Beleg's presence tips the balance and helps to get Finrod and Glorfindel home.
