Oh, dear. Even here it can happen to poor Glorfindel. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, he hasn't changed, just his location has. He's had more than enough shocks to his hroa and fea lately, cruel author! *grin* I liked that Orome (I really like him) chased him down and I loved the 'flame imperishable' image, very nicely done. I'm glad that Namo could bring them supplies so that they could go camping... Finrod loves camping! Seriously, I do hope they don't have to stay there too long, or that they'll at least come to some sort of peace while they're there waiting. I know that might be difficult for both of them, especially Glorfindel. Thanks!

Author's reply

Yes, even in the tenth dimension Glorfindel is one crazy Reborn Elf, but certainly the shocks he's received in the last few months to both hröa and fëa have begun to take their toll, so it's not surprising that he's reacted as he has. I"m glad you liked the image of the Flame Imperishable and Oromë 'hunting' after Glorfindel's fëa. And yes, Finrod loves camping, but he may not like it with Glorfindel... that may be more of a trial than he's willing to put up with. *grin* Even the best of friends can get on each other's nerves in certain situations. Thanks for reviewing, Radbooks. I appreciate it very much.

Pity they can't find a way to get Finrod to slip his leash too, then they could take their 'dead' bodies back to Aman and slip them back in! Still, they do need to find a way to keep Glorfindel's body and soul together, Valarin Super glue? More please, Lynda

Author's reply

I don't think your solution would work anyway, but it's an intriguing idea. I'm sure they really need to find a way to get themselves back body and soul. As for keeping Glorfindel's body and soul together... hmmm, hopefully time will heal that particular riff as he grows stronger and matures.

Ces · 29 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Truths Unfolding

The good news is they have supplies. I suppose the bad news is that they could be there awhile? *snort* I guess Finrod and Glorfindel will have to put their heads together and start thinking logically on how to get back home. Especially as I don't see any ruby red slippers around the tenth dimension! Námo really doesn't want them back in his halls, does he? *giggle* Ces

Author's reply

This is one of those situations where ruby red slippers do not work. LOL And no, Námo really does not want either of them back in his Halls, ever.

Neilia · 29 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Truths Unfolding

The Tenth Dimension, eh? No wonder the Valar don't know how to bring them back! But Eru must...curiouser and curiouser. More, please! Love, Neilia

Author's reply

I'm sure Eru prefers His Children to work their problems out for themselves before directly interfering. We'll have to see.

Kaylee · 29 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Truths Unfolding

Well, at least our elves have supplies now!!!!! And wow, the Flame Imperishable...*shudder* Glorfindel!!!!!! Glorfi, Glorfi, Glorfi, what have they told you about slipping your leash? *shakes head* And taking off all your important jewelry! *tsk* *Hugs her elves* *Hugs Namo and Orome* Hope they figure out how to come back, and SOON!!!!!!! ~Kaylee!!!

Author's reply

It probably would have been better if Glorfindel had simply slipped his ring on a chain over his head or into a pocket or something, but I suspect it was a last-minute decision on his part as he was arming, so we can hardly blame him for what has happened. Anyway, I'm sure they will figure it out soon enough how to get back home (otherwise, there's no story! *grin*).

artistic sprite · 25 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

Poor Glorfy!

Author's reply

Yes, poor Glorfy and Finda.

Larner · 25 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

They aren't trusting Atar enough at the moment, I fear. They'll soon learn, I think. From knowledge of future times we know they DID make it home! Heh!

Author's reply

Trust is always fragile and when things get scary it's sometimes hard to remember that trust, but as you say, they will soon learn and of course we all know that they DID make it home. *grin* The question of course is, how?

Hel · 24 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

To have them falling out of the tree at the beginning is mean. And on their amour nonetheless. Poor elves. But why where they sleeping in a tree in the first place? Aren´t Noldor not normally prefering the ground? I think Finrod is glad that he sits in a chair and not on a tree when Namo tells him the Valar can´t bring them back. I still have this picture of a Valarian Pizza-Taxi in my head. But at the moment they propably need calming droughts more than food. Or some strong drink. It is easy to forget how short it was, since Glorfindel has been released from Mandos when you see him acting for example at the tournamet or during the trials. So I guess his reaction could have been worse. I´m still wondering why they have been transported to the 10th dimension. Does we get some answer to that? By the way, has someone ever told you that one week can be very, very long when you are waiting for a new chapter after a clivhanger?

Author's reply

They may be Noldor but they're elves and they interacted with Dindar long enough to appreciate sleeping in a tree where it might be safer if you don't know the territory. As for Glorfindel's reactions... more of that will be explained in the next chapter as will the question of why they were transported to the 10th dimension. And waiting one week for an update... be thankful it isn't one month!

Agape4Gondor · 24 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

Incredible, disconcerting chapter... for your readers as well as our two beloved Elves! I was surprised at Glorfindel's reactions. Very surprised. I thought, at first, that it had something to do with being in the 10th dimension, but I see now it is his immaturity. Ah well. Poor thing! It all brings to mind Namo's abduction and torture at the hands of Melkor. I truly hope his own experiences will help him at least comfort these two if the Valar themselves cannot bring them home. What a horrid experience. Poor Finrod. What on earth will Glorfindel think as he turns to discover his liege lord crumpled and unconscious. Phew! Hope the next chapter comes quickly - though what hope is that??? The next chapter will probably be a cliff-hanger too! Viscious, nasty author!!!

Author's reply

The tenth dimension can be a bit disconcerting for all. I'm sure Námo will do his best to provide them with all the comfort and assurances they need, provided they ask for it, which in Glorfindel's case might be problematic. And actually Finrod isn't Glorfindel's liege lord (that honor belongs solely to Turgon) but they are gwedyr and muindyr and so he will naturally be upset to see that he's fainted. The next chapter will come quickly enough and whether it's a cliffhanger or not, you know you'll love it and will come back for more. LOL Thanks for reviewing.

Beruthiels Cat · 24 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Questions That Need Answers

I can see Glor getting on someone's nerves mightily, lol... *Gripe, Gripe, Gripe* Also speculating on the Valar laying bets among themselves as to who gets to box his ears first- *grin* I can just see Glor's expression after Lord Námo "sneaks up" on them...priceless! Left you a pm on your yahoo address a little while ago, Cat

Author's reply

Glorfindel is like the kid who's constantly asking "Are we there, yet?" LOL I'm sure Námo found it rather amusing to 'sneak up' on them the way he did. *grin* I got your pm and sent you a reply.

Beruthiels Cat · 24 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

Hmmm...a song of power to get them into the 10th dimension, and it will probably take another to get them out...meanwhile, one has to wonder if time passes differently in this place than it does in Arda proper (I'm thinking of another little jewel you posted on the HA site) and a plausible way of filling up the rather large amount of time that must pass before Glor goes to Endor...pure speculation on my part, lol...I love a good mystery! Once again, very well done! To answer a question you asked that I never seemed to have gotten around to answering about my number of read-throughs on EI 1, four. I am somewhat attached to the subtleties and undercurrents. BTW, what/where is/are Leaf and Stone, and GoI? Cat

Author's reply

Hi Cat. Glad you liked this chapter. I don't think time runs too differently in the 10th dimension from Aman proper though you never know. Even the Valar are unsure about why the tenth dimension exists as it does, only that it does. Leaf and Stone is a Yahoo group dedicated primarily to friendship fics about Legolas and Gimli. NiRi runs it. GoI (Garden of Ithilien) is another LOTR site but I've never been to it. Again, NiRi is the one to ask about it. I really don't do Legolas-Gimli fics (at least not as a rule) but the restriction to writing Legolas-Gimli friendship stories is waived for the Tolkien Tango prompts so I like to write fics for those and post them here under Fiondil's Tapestry. So you've read EI 1 four times, huh? I'm impressed. And you especially like reading it for the subtleties and undercurrents. Well, I'm sure you'll enjoy EI 2 even more, then. *grin* Thanks for reviewing.

Ces · 24 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

That beginning was hilarious - I can almost hear the clanging and banging going on as they fall right into their armour! Glorfindel acting like an elfling - I wonder if he remembers that when two little twin elflings come along in Imladris?! Poor thing though. I'm sure he's scared - especially as he thinks they are on their own in all this. Finrod fainting! Now we know they are in trouble! I have the feeling this is some sort of test for the two of them? I can't wait to find out how they get home and the journey they take along the way. Ces

Author's reply

I thought the beginning was rather funny myself, especially when Finrod starts swearing in Dwarvish. *grin* I'm sure Glorfindel will remmember his second 'elflinghood' when dealing with two little twin elflings and later their sister. Both Glorfindel and Finrod are scared, though Finrod is handling it better because he has finally achieved the same level of maturity as he had prior to his death. Still, the shock and uncertainty of their situation is finally catching up with him, hence his fainting. And I suspect that this is a test for others as well, not just for Finrod and Glorfindel. As to how they finally get home.... you'll have to wait and see. *grin* I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Thanks for reviewing.

Kitty · 24 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

Poor Glorfindel, that was the last strain, wasn't it? He's obviously still not mature enough to cope with all this in dignity. Finrod fainted?? NOW we know it is really bad! I'm rather curious how the Valar will bring them back, to say the least ... Happy Easter!

Author's reply

I think the strain is finally catching up with Finrod and the final straw was the thought that they might never get back again if the Valar themeselves cannot do it. Glorfindel, of course, is still operating on the emotional level of a 12 year old human so it's no wonder he's acting as he is.

Nieriel Raina · 24 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

To quote a certain 11 year old I know... YOU ARE EVIL!!! Evil, evil, evil! And cruel too! And you're enjoying every minute of it, aren't you? Don't answer that. *grin* Fabulous chapter. Namo's aloofness gave me chills, but remembering just who brought those two there helps me to remember they'll be just fine. *smile* I am curious just HOW they will eventually get home, since we know they must, but I am enjoying every second of the waiting to find out too. Can't wait to see what happens next. Hopefully by then, I'll actually have a desk so I don't have to try to type on my knees. I've tried that gesturing thing the Valar do, but to no avail. sighs Great chapter! NiRi PS...I have decided you need to design my new wardrobe if you won't let me steal Namo's. *grin*

Author's reply

Yes, I'm evil and proud of it! LOL Námo's aloofness is more for effect than anything else. He knows that neither he nor any of the Valar even acting collectively have the power to return Finrod and Glorfindel to Aman proper, so he's distancing himself emotionally knowing what the likely reaction of the two elves is going to be when he tells them. Anyway, there's nothing stopping you from making your own wardrobe you know. You don't need to steal Námo's and I refuse to design it for you. *sticks out tongue*. These first few chapters are purposely short because that's how the muse insisted I write them. As the story progresses the chapters will become longer and more detailed. I'm glad you are enjoying the story so far. Thanks for reviewing.

Nikara · 24 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

Namo- that wasn't very nice. Of course, I understand that they need to find the answers for themselves- there is a reason that Eru took them there, most likely to find some healing, so they need to accomplish that before they get home, but Namo is being a bit more dark than usual. It is interesting how Glorfindel's childlike qualities are magnified here. I enjoyed everything, and look forward to more.

Author's reply

Actually, I think Námo is enjoying the situation just a little too much. *grin* We will learn in the next chapter why Glorfindel is acting the way he is. I'm glad you are enjoying this so far. Thanks for reviewing.

eiluj · 23 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

Unforthcoming indeed! But hopefully *dinner* will be forthcoming. Then again, Finrod's unconscious, and Glorfindel's too upset to eat: at this point, food would merely give him indigestion....

Author's reply

We'll see in the next chapter how the Valar provide for our benighted heroes. Finrod doesn't stay unconscious for too long, but Glorfindel remaining upset is another matter....

6336 · 23 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

Oh s**t! Namo is one inscrutable cuss isn't he! Interesting problem, will they have to recreate the circumstances that brought them to the 10th dimension, or is there an easier way to do it, short of a repeat visit to Mandos? I am not sure Namo wants them back! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

I'm not sure Námo wants them back in Mandos either. Don't worry, things always work out the way they should, though not necessarily the way we think they should.

Kaylee Tonks-Lupin · 23 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

No, no no no!!!!!! Oh, Namo!!!!! Won't Atar let you let them out??? Don't let them stay there forever... *sob* Please, please please please please...Namo, do something!!!!!! Finrod fainted!!!! *sobbing* Help them Namo...Why do they have to be there, why??? Why why why???????? Atar, why do they have to be there???? :( ~Kaylee *sobbing*

Author's reply

Honestly Kaylee you're worse than Glorfindel! LOL. I'm sure the answers to all your questions will be forthcoming.

Alquawende · 23 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Answers Unforthcoming

I forgot, how did they even get there in the first place? Also, I'm very curious though as to how Glorfindel and Finrod will get back to familiar territory. Thanks for updating and writing!

Author's reply

You'll have to re-read the last chapter of Book One to refresh your memory.

Agape4Gondor · 20 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Questions That Need Answers

What everybody else said times infinity. But - it is great having this tale back and giving more! And I was most concerned for Vorondil. Thanks for taking care of the little one!

Author's reply

You're welcome. Vorondil has stolen my heart somewhere along the way. I'm glad you are happy to see Elf, Interrupted back. I'm having loads of fun writing it.

Hel · 17 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Questions That Need Answers

Finally the second part. I´ve done some kind of happy dance after seeing it. I really love Part 1. It helped me through some divicult times last year. I guessed after the last chapter of part 1 that they are maybe in the tenth dimension. Who else could that happen to but those two. I´m really sorry for their families. After finally getting them back and living through so much trouble and intrigues, comes the next crisis. The behaviour of the Valar leaves the impression, that they not really know what to do, exept maybe wondering what they did to deserve the trouble. As for no animal live in the tenth dimension, maybe the Valar can bring Finrod and Glorfindel some food, kind of Valarian pizza-taxi (don´t know where that image comes from ???). Water I would guess should exist there. I hope the next chapter comes soon.

Author's reply

HiHel. I'm glad you enjoyed Book One so much and you are looking forward to Book Two. Yes, Finrod and Glorfindel are indeed in the tenth dimension and yes their families are quite devestated. Hopefully, they will be returned to Aman proper in due time. The Valar, of course, aren't quite sure what to make of it and I have a feeling one or two are wishing Námo had never released them from Mandos right about now. *grin* Anyway, we'll find out in the next chapter how the Valar will provide for them while they are in the tenth dimension. And don't worry, the next chapter will be coming soon. I plan to update on a regular basis, just as I did with Book One. Thanks for reviewing.

ellie · 16 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Questions That Need Answers

I like the parallel structure in this between the two groups and the way the grievers are comforting each other. Loved the last couple of lines. I'm so glad you've started posting Part 2. YAY!!!

Author's reply

Thanks, Ellie, I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and the way it was structured. I sort of wrote it as if I were cutting from one scene to another in a movie with the last line of one scene more or less being the first line of the next scene.

Edlyn · 16 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Questions That Need Answers

Oh, my goodness, meldonya! What a chapter! I'm not really surprised at the reactions of the Eldar in the least. Arafinwë had me near tears as I read his heartbroken words. And Vorondil--well, I had a very strong suspicion that this would be his reaction to his Master disappearing. It was interesting seeing the reactions of the Valar. Nonplussed is the word that comes to my mind as far as their initial reaction. But then they pragmatically worked on getting things sorted out and doing damage control. I can just see Laurendil standing up to Irmo BTW. He is definitely one stubborn elf, isn't he? I think he's as stubborn in his own way as Glorfindel is. Beleg was very sweet and asked the question that I'm sure many were wanting to ask but didn't have the nerve to voice it. Beleg's straightforward trust and honesty reminded me that he is still very newly Reborn and like a child will say and ask things most adults are too worried or embarrassed to ask. His relief at finding out that Finrod and Glorfindel weren't dead was palpable and his comment regarding not being very happy about the situation was utterly charming. Amarië must be very upset. She and Finrod had only just gotten a chance to see each other after announcing their betrothal and now he's gone again. I wouldn't be surprised if she's afraid that it's going to be yeni before she sees him again, if she ever does. I wouldn't be surprised if she does some yelling at certain Valar herself. Glorfindel was reminding me of a kid doing the "Are we there yet?" routine that aggravates parents and siblings, and I admire Finrod for his ability not to snap his brother's head off. It must be very disconcerting to be in a place that looks familiar but is empty of all life and habitation. The utter silence would drive me absolutely crazy. Hmmm, no insects or animals, so how do the plants in the 10th dimension pollinate? You realise that I'm going to be thinking about that little issue all night, don't you? I know; "There are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of..." The 10th dimension doesn't necessarily operate on "natural laws" even remotely similar to our dimension, does it? I'm sure we'll find out more as Finrod and Glorfindel do. And the last line of the chapter was marvelous. Hello, Námo! Needless to say (so why am I saying it, you ask?), I can hardly wait until the next update. I want to know what happened just as much as the Eldar do! Excellent work! Edlyn

Author's reply

I think the Valar are even more nonplussed than they let on because they at least know what happened, where Finrod and Glorfindel are and WHO helped them there. That last really has them thrown for a loop. They are, of course, trying to cover up their own sense of panic by acting calm and collected and refusing to answer anyone's questions. Laurendil may have traded his sword for a bedpan (so to speak) but he's still a warrior and his Life Oath to Finrod kick in the minute Finrod disappeared. Irmo realizes this, so ignores the threats and lets the Elf remain rather than returning to Lórien. Beleg, of course, is still an innocent and unafraid of Námo anyway. I'm sure many of the elves wondered if the two were dead, Beleg at least has the guts to ask and so eliminate that particular fate from the list. Glorfindel is still emotionally young enough to want answers from "big brother" even if they are the right answers. He just wants reassurance that everything is going to be okay. We will see in the next few chapters how his immaturity works against him in that respect. As for how things are done in the tenth dimension... remember all is mere potentiality, so it matters not if there are higher animal life forms that normally help pollinate our dimension. As you say, the laws of nature don't necessarily apply here. I will be updating on a regular basis so you won't have too long to wait for the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing.

Cal · 16 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Questions That Need Answers

Obviously, I must be stupid. Extremely stupid. As to just how I missed it, I will never know... ~Cal

Author's reply

You're not the only one to have missed the clues. I think several people read this chapter with presuppositions that blinded them to what they were actually reading. Nasty things, assumptions... they usually get in the way of the truth.

Ces · 16 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Questions That Need Answers

Ok, I admit it. I yelled out, "NO!!! Don't stop there!" after Namo's appearance! If this had been a book in my hands I would have been frantically flipping the pages for what happens next. Alas, I must wait for the next update! Cheers for Elf Interrupted's return! And well worth the wait. The shock and bewilderment felt by all was written wonderfully. And you gotta love Beleg - speaking his mind, yet still respectful. Go Beleg! Poor Glorfindel and Finrod - they have clue as to why or where they are. Hopefully Namo will fix all that. Loved his entrance by the way - always the dramatic for him! What a place to end it - don't leave us tettering on the edge of that cliff for too long please!

Author's reply

The opening chapters are going to be relatively short as I develop the plot but will become longer as the story progresses, so I'm sorry about that. Anyway, I'm glad you thought the wait well worth it. I will be updating on a regular basis so you won't be teetering on the edge of the cliff for too long, I promise. Beleg is pretty cool and of course Námo just can't resist dramatic entrances. *grin*
