Larner · 4 February 2009 · Chapter 12: WOUNDS: Olwë's Grief

Such reassurance and comfort! Lovely.

Larner · 4 February 2009 · Chapter 13: CHILD: Young Ingwion Asks a Question (a double drabble)

Indeed the perfect question for this child! Heh!

6336 · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 13: CHILD: Young Ingwion Asks a Question (a double drabble)

Reading Claritas' review makes me wonder, do the Re-born have navels? (Inquiring minds want to know!) Lynda

Virtuella · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 13: CHILD: Young Ingwion Asks a Question (a double drabble)

Aha, good point. Of course all the firstborn elves would not have belly buttons. I've never thought about that.

Author's reply

Well, I suppose that Eru could have gone ahead and created the mature bodies with a navel anyway since He knew their offspring would have them, but it was more fun to think about if they didn't have them, and what the next generation would have made of that. It's easy to forget that the belly button is simply a scar. Hmmm. Those folks who say that Elves heal without scars could probably argue that an elvish umbilical scar would fade away and leave them without one after all... but this was much more fun to write! Hee! Thanks for reviewing!

6336 · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 13: CHILD: Young Ingwion Asks a Question (a double drabble)

Oh, Eru! What a question, I wonder what the answer was? Lynda

Author's reply

I'm afraid I don't know. The Muse shut up at that point. *grin* I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reviewing!

Kaylee · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 13: CHILD: Young Ingwion Asks a Question (a double drabble)

*laughs* Oh, very good meldenya! Brilliant. And I agree wholeheartedly with Edlyn...definitely wonderful blackmail material. *snickers* ~Kaylee!

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing! I'm inspired by my one children a lot when it comes to writing elflings... When my youngling asked a similar question regarding "Adam and Eve" I answered "I don't know." I'd love to know what Ingwe said in response... but the Muse isn't telling. Author Reply: Oops! I meant my "own" children, not "one". LOL!

Celeritas · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 13: CHILD: Young Ingwion Asks a Question (a double drabble)

Oh, that was simply adorable! And a perfectly sensible question to ask!

Author's reply

I'm so glad you liked this! It was fun writing it. Hmmm. Now I'm wondering what the reaction of those first elves to the umbilical cord remnant drying out and falling off a baby elf.... *giggle*

Edlyn · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 13: CHILD: Young Ingwion Asks a Question (a double drabble)

ROFL! I love this, twinling. If ever Ingwe wants to have blackmail material on Ingwion this would be the equivalent of one of those bare-nekkid-baby-on-a-fur-rug pics. I can just see Ingwion looking utterly embarrassed and Finrod and Glorindel literally rolling on the floor clutching their sides as they laugh hysterically: Ingwion gritted his teeth, repeating to himself, "Kin-slaying is bad. Kin-slaying is bad." Wonderful job! Edlyn

Author's reply

There are times you wish you didn't have any otornya, aren't there? *grin* So very glad you liked it!

Beruthiels Cat · 30 October 2008 · Chapter 12: WOUNDS: Olwë's Grief

I was wondering where you were going when you said you'd been inspired regarding a conundrum! Those Valar say the darndest things, don't they? Love Olwë's POV here, and the long range implications regarding trust and understanding when things go so terribly wrong later on. Excellently told!

Author's reply

Well, actually, that was for another bit of the overall "Great Journey" saga that this is a tiny snippet of, but when I got that bit sorted out, this one fell into my mind. :) Thanks for reviewing!

Kaylee · 30 October 2008 · Chapter 12: WOUNDS: Olwë's Grief

*snuggles* Aww, poor Olwe! I'm glad that the Valar, particularly Ulmo, are there to help! Thank you for letting me read this through before, it's as lovely as it was then! ^_^ But sad, too. :( Alas for Olwe, that he has to move on without his brothers. But he'll do well as lord and king of the Teleri. *smiles* ~Kaylee!

Author's reply

Thanks, Kaylee! :) Yes, it is sad, but while it's an ending for him, it is also a beginning. And, after all, he does eventually learn that one day he will be reunited with Elwe, when he is Reborn after healing from his death in Doriath. And that will be as happy a day as this one is bittersweet.

Beruthiels Cat · 17 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

Incredibly visual...to the point where I could see Gimli working on it along through time, not just the end result! Wonderful characterization...extremely emotive, makes one think of this memorial actually still existing buried somewhere under the sands of time. Loved it!

Author's reply

I like to think that it is still there somewhere, waiting for an archeologist or a spelunker to discover it... Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed reading it.

Agape4Gondor · 16 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

Sits back in awe - I could see it!!!! Absolutely stunning imagery............. Stunning. I think I dropped my own cup of tea.

Author's reply

:) I'm sorry you dropped your tea, but I'm very glad that you could see what Gimli wrought. :)

Agape4Gondor · 16 October 2008 · Chapter 10: Storyteller

This is delightful. I'm trying to teach my sweet grandbaby the alphabet and can't wait till she can read her first word.... I love Elladan's big round eyes!

Author's reply

It's such a marvelous thing to see a child come to realize just how wonderful those squiggles on the paper really are. :) Thanks for reviewing!

Nieriel Raina · 15 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

Thank you for this wonderful ficlet, gwathel nîn! I love Gimli in this. What a wonderful gift to the Rohirrim. That dwarf's tough exterior hides a heart of pure gold. You nailed Eomer too! Wonderful ficlet! Huggles!

Author's reply

I'm so glad that you love it... especially as I did write it for you. :) HUGS!

Virtuella · 15 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

Charming! It's lovely to imagine Gimli and Eomer being such good friends and sharing these memories to make them more bearable.

Author's reply

I'm so pleased that this ficlet touched a chord in so many people. I hope the muse lets me write more about this friendship. There's so much Gimli/Legolas friendship fic out there, but I haven't seen any other Gimli/Eomer GEN works.

thechevin · 15 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

This was a really lovely story and it seems appropriate that the dwarves would be the ones to remember all those losses in such a fashion. Gimli was of course correct, far beneath the earth, such treasures endure much longer than those that are exposed to the elements and 'human' interference Minnie

Author's reply

Thank you, Minnie, for letting me know you liked it. I always hated seeing grave stones or memorials that were so worn by weather that I couldn't read the names of those who had sacrificed all for the greater good. Gimli's gift will last until the end of Arda even if it ends up being hidden from all in time.

shirebound · 14 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

How marvelous! I especially love all the detail, such as the dwarves making the portals fit men and elves, and the fact that Gimli's realm was a kingdom equal to that of any other ruler.

Author's reply

Thank you, shirebound! It just didn't seem fair to me that Aragorn had his kingdom, and so did Legolas, Sam was Mayor of the Shire, Pippin was the Thain, and Merry became the Master of Buckland and yet Gimli was only "Lord of the Glittering Caves". So I decided to interpret "Lord" as a ruler instead of one who owed fealty to king or senior lord. With Legolas coming to visit, I just can't see Gimli making him continually duck his head, and from what we saw of the glories of Moria, the Dwarves appeared to like building big!

Agape4Gondor · 14 October 2008 · Chapter 7: The Search

Excellent - having him mention the precious in each stanza made it particularly troubling!

Pearl Took · 14 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

A beautiful, beautiful story, Rhyselle! I could see the frieze and the names and feel Eomer's amazement. What a marvelous memorial.

Author's reply

I just wish that I could paint or draw what I saw in my head... I'm so pleased that you could visualize Gimli's gift to Eomer and the Riddermark.

utfrog · 14 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

This took my breath away!

Author's reply

Thank you!

lwarren · 13 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

*sigh* Oh, Rhyselle, I do like this story very much. I cannot remember ever seeing a story which focuses only on Gimli and Eomer. This is a wonderful piece of interaction between the two, showing the friendship that was bound to develop between these two warriors. I love Gimli anyway, and his gift of remembrance to Eomer is just perfect and a fitting tribute to those who fell in that horrendous battle. Well done! linda

Author's reply

Thank you, Linda. I thought at first it would just be Gimli and Legolas with Legolas asking Gimli what his secret project was... but then the muse said "Eomer!" and it started coming together. :)

Larner · 13 October 2008 · Chapter 11: Remembrance

Ah! What a fantastic memorial! Marvelous!

Author's reply

It took forever, or so it seems to put into words what I saw in my head. I'm so very glad it touched you and other readers the way it has. Thank you for letting me know you liked it.

Fiondil · 15 September 2008 · Chapter 10: Storyteller

I don't remember the first time I could read but I do remember my mom having to teach me to read from left to right. I'm so left-handed I automatically started reading from right to left. *LOL* Anyway, once I 'got' it I never looked back. Cute drabble, Rhyselle. Thank you for reminding us all how the written word can open whole worlds for us to explore... and I agree with Lady Bluejay, there's nothing like sitting down and opening a book. Reading online just doesn't have the same thrill for me.

Author's reply

While I love reading the fanfics online, there's a reason that I print out the chapters of Elf Interrupted and other tales that I follow on a regular basis... I dream of one day actually taking the entirety of EI1 and EI2 and binding them into a leather-bound volume that I can take down and enjoy without the need for the internet connection. One day... *grin*

Antane · 9 September 2008 · Chapter 10: Storyteller

Can't remember that day myself when I first opened a book - I was probably born reading one - but indeed what a glorious number of worlds to discover! Hantanyel for this sweet story! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you! :)

Lady Bluejay · 9 September 2008 · Chapter 1: Dawning

I worked backwards through your library and found this one at the end. Lovely! LBJ
