Ah, but it is looking bad for our intrepid pair, and particularly with Legolas suffering from snake bite! Now, for Aragorn to rescue him!
Author's reply
Alas, it often looks bad for them at one time or another. Ouch. Just saying that sounds painful, doesn't it? If our dear ranger can do that without getting himself in a similar bind, that would be nice. :o)

I'm baaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And am reading this chapter over and over and loving it!!!
Where to begin?
The logic of Legolas and Aragorn is amazing!
“Then I suggest you quit wanting to go where there are things that wish to do that to us,”
“And just how was I supposed to know there was a giant snake under that tower?”
“Because, dear ranger, you wanted to go there.” :)
and
"Where is the cave?"
"What cave?"
“We always find a cave when we’re in need of one.” “Well, we’re sure in need of one now. So, where is it?” lol!
Also liked the reference to the troll fiasco! :)
I'm a little worried about Legolas here. Not that he'll die or anything*, but he may end up with some injuries. And if I know Aragorn, he won't escape lightly either.
*unless you have some evil, dastardly AU plan in the works... :\

Oh, dear--out of the frying pan and into the fire, apparently. At least the snake's inexperience is helping them at the moment.
Now, what's become of Legolas?
Author's reply
Well said. It looks that way, doesn't it? I'm sure L & A are happy for any kind of break.
We'll find that out in the next chapter. :o)

HORS-ES!!! WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!?!? ;)
AnL have such luck, going into a cave and finding a snake--make that a HUGE snake!--that won't give up the hunt and seems to follow them around like a magnet. Anyone wonder why Legolas doesn't like caves? *cue the scary music*
Because you never know whether you are going to find more rock or a scary creature, like balrogs or snakes! Now you know.
I love your dialogues (or however you spell that word) between Legolas and Aragorn. "I have an idea."..."Please share." and of course Aragorn's grumble "That's two problems." lol!
On a more serious note, I share the pain Legolas experiences at the death of the trees. You almost had me crying, White Wolf! The trees are just so good and they were so willing to give up life for the man and the elf and they are trying so hard and...and... *finally breaks down, sobbing uncontrollably*
:)
Author's reply
They are following the snake, but they can't get to L & A. Darn it.
Well, our guys are trouble magnets, so being pursued by a huge snake seems righ up their alley. Scary music seems quite appropriate, because it appears that we all know that L & A will find something scary.
I'm glad you like my dialogues. That's always nice to hear.
Destroying the trees was hard to write. :o( I live in the country surrounded by trees, and I love them, too. I knew it would hurt Legolas, but it was necessary to give our guys a fighting chance. It also provided material for some serious emotion, which it appears I evoked in you as well as Legolas.

I grieve for the trees alongside Legolas and Aragorn. The snake must have had a very protected life to not recognize trees--or it has forgotten much during its long captivity.
Author's reply
Me, too! I live in the country surrounded by trees, and it was hard to have to destroy them, but it was necessary to the story. I'm thinking the snake has never been outside before and doesn't know what trees are.

I was so happy to see the next chapter up! More danger punctuated by humor...yay! "your tremendous capacity for crushing my hopes never ceases to amaze me" That was hilarious! :)
Poor trees though. I love when authors portray Legolas having a close connection with them. Go trees! :)
Oh yeah, was Aragorn really thinking the same thing as Legolas or was he just trying to be "clever"? :)
Don't you dare let those horses be harmed...
Author's reply
Me, too! Yes, that the way they roll. You are the second reviewer who pointed out that exact line. It made me grin when I wrote it. :o)
I hated to destroy those trees, especially knowing how it would hurt Legolas, but it was necessary. I love trees, too, so that part was hard to write.
I'm not sure. It may have been a bit of both.
Our heroes may be having a hard time, and some of the trees didn't fair too well, but rest assured, the horses will not be harmed. :o)

well, that snake just won't LET UP. I'm glad they made it out of the tunnels- things down there were looking repetitive and grim. My hope now is that the horses are nearby and they can get on them like Legolas does in the Two Towers movie...
Author's reply
No, I don't see that happening. I agree with you, and that's why L & A are now free of the tunnels and the tower, not the snake, however.
We'll have to wait and see if the horses can be of assistance. Maybe so, maybe not. :o) I liked that elf-mounting-horse bit, too. Isn't CGI wonderful?

It made me laugh when Legolas was explaining the difficulties of killing the snake with an arrow. (Incidentally, where is a snake's brain?) :) "Alright, I get the point." Poor guys. And then the door wouldn't open right away. Again, that would have been too easy.
Finally, I like your reference to the "I'm fine" line. I think Legolas and Aragorn have a copyright on that by now. They own it. ;)
Keep writing! :)
Author's reply
No, I don't think that's in It's nature. They would certainly be a big help and possibly life savers.
Glad you got a laugh out of that bit. (I've done research on snakes, but to be honest, I've never found any description of the exact location of a snake's brain. I assume it's in the center, protected by their bony skull.)
Yes indeed, that would have been too easy, and L & A don't do easy. If they don't have a copyright on that line, they should apply for one. :o)
I will!

Getting out of the enclosed space helps, as it gives them more options and more distractions for the snake as it may now come into contact with other possible prey that could distract it.
At least they got out in time! Now, to see how it reacts now it is free of the dungeons.
Author's reply
It would sure help me! :o) It does give them options, but I'm not sure the snake will anything, even other prey, distract it.
Indeed they did. I think time was running out for them where they were. We'll have to see how single-minded the snake turns out to be.

Wow! Sorry I didn't review this before but college papers have been dominating my life.
I thought they were finally going to get out of their mess, but that would be too easy. I should have known that Aragorn and Legolas would never get out of a sticky situation that fast!
If they have to go back into the tunnels that will be really depressing, especially for the elf.
Looking forward to the next chapter!
Author's reply
Trust me, I understand RL getting in the way.
Yes, that would be entirely too easy for those two. Their messes get worse long before they get better.

Sometimes I wonder how Aragorn and Legolas ever made it alive to the Fellowship...
Loved it! Even the cliffhanger, yeah. :) Don't worry, I really don't mind them so much--I just like to pretend. They definitely make things more interesting!

well... I totally believe Legolas is still running around in those tunnels. If I were Aragorn, I would try to find the exit, so the light from it would show down into the tunnels and Legolas, if he came by, would be able to pick up on it.
But then again, Aragorn is very unlikely to do that and leave Legolas behind, and even if he did, Legolas would still be searching for Aragorn.
I guess the best case is that they find each other soon, so maybe Legolas should be that thing Aragorn tripped over...
Can't wait for more!
Author's reply
That's an interesting plan. But, knowing both of them, you are right that nether of them wouldn't leave until they found the other, no matter how long that took.
If Legolas is what Aragorn tripped over, that would mean the Legolas is unconscious or dead. Either way, the snake would have gotten him rather than left him lying in a tunnel. We'll just have to see what happens.

Oh Great! Instead of getting closer together, they are wandering farther apart. Pretty sure Aragorn has found the torch that Legolas dropped. Hope he can get it re-lit. They both need to find a way of marking the tunnels so they don't keep going in circles. Eh -- easier said than done, I think.
Can't wait to find out what Legolas does to escape the snake. Please update soon.

Author's reply
I know that is frustrating to readers. Fortunately, L & A aren't really aware of it. We'll see if you are right about the torch. I think that is much easier said than done. Even if they did mark the tunnels, they might miss the the marks in the dark, and tey certainly don't have the time to slow down and feel for a mark.

I am loving this story White Wolf. These boys *tisk, tisk* So typical of Aragorn to want to investigate and so typical of Legolas to be cautious. And, as usual it seems, Legolas is risking his life to spare Aragorns.

I'm happy that you are. :o) That seems to be the roles those two have adopted. Too bad Legolas's caution doesn't keep them out of trouble. I think Legolas goes along so he can spare the ranger from total disaster.

Add-on for "It": Poor Aragorn. And Legolas. Trouble always follows these two. Or they dig it up themselves!
Author's reply
It's sad that 'poor Aragorn and Legolas' can be applied to both stories. Those two just seem to get into trouble time after time. I'd be interested to know how many times it was their fault versus how many times they just got sucked into trouble without doing a thing. :o)

Ai! I took you up on your suggestion, White Wolf, and read "Cold Wind."
Oh. My. Goodness.
I think I will be emotionally damaged for life. Very. Big. Scar. That was just so creepy, spine-chilling, bone-shuddering, sad, tragic, depressing, and--and--ooh. Suffice it to say that you wrote a very convincing story. But WHY did Arondo have to die? :(
Don't really know why I attached this review thing to "It." Whatever. It's a good story too. (Lame pun sadly intended.)
You really know how to write them, don't you?
Author's reply
I'm glad you read the story, but I'm sorry you were so badly affected. Imagine how I felt writing it. The funny thing is that the last paragraph came to me one night, and it stayed with me until I wrote a storyt hat ended with that paragraph. That's why there was no aftermath written.
I hated to kill Arondo, because I really liked him, but I needed to show just how evil Saeargar was and the lengths he would go to to keep Legolas from trying to fight back and gain control.
A review is a review wherever you put it.

Well, well. Cliffhanger! Again! That's okay. I don't mind cliffhangers as long I can read the next chapter in a reasonable amount of time. ;) Besides, think of all the speculation cliffhangers cause.
Anyway, about the story. I like it alot, so I finally decided to leave a review. "It" is written very well. Naturally, as this is the WW we are talking about. Anyway good job.
I like the beginning of the chapter when it crosses Aragorn's mind that Legolas would be a very dangerous enemy. (Brings back memories of the book when Tolkien insinuates that Aragorn could be a very powerful and bad Dark Lord if he took the Ring.) Uh-oh. I just had a very scary answer as to why Legolas didn't follow Aragorn. The snake hypnotized or otherwise poisoned him so now we can see the elf as a bad guy. Just kidding. I hope.
One last thing. I have always liked the idea of Legolas constantly sacrificing himself for Aragorn (somewhat frustrating that hero.) To my mind, Legolas does this for two reasons. One, he knows just how important Estel is to the world. And two, Aragorn is his best friend, and vice versa. Which explains why our ranger gets frustrated with the elf. He would like a chance at sacrificing himself for his friend! For once, please! ;)
Okay, I will now be concluding this very long and perhaps slightly random review. Hope it makes you feel :) White Wolf! Keep writing!
Author's reply
I feel the same way about cliffies. I really hate them, though, when one is left and the story is abandoned, which has happened to me many times. I'll never abandon a story if I'm in any way able to complete it. And yes, they do tend to bring readers back. :o)
I'm glad you like the story and took the time to leave a review for it. Thank you for the complement. It's always nice when anyone sees my name on a story and knows they'll have a good read.
I think Aragorn would have reviled even Melkor in his power as a Dark Lord. That would truly have been scary for Middle-earth. As for Legolas, you might try my story "Cold Wind".
You will find out what is keeping Legolas in the next chapter.
I totally agree with you on the reasons Legolas is always willing to sacrifice for Aragorn. Either reason alone would prompt him to do it, you can be sure. I think Aragorn does sacrifice, but often in more subtle ways.
I enjyed your review, and I will definitely keep writing.

I love the way you summed that up, especially the bedroom part. If you are referring to Treco, this one isn't a dragon. You'll soon find out what it is.
