· Chapter 14: Of Cousins and Kings
Oo, a quick update this time. :) I'm happy now. Except for the fact that I now have to wait again. ;)
I would have reviewed earlier, only our computer decided that I was supposed to get off-line all of a sudden, and I've only just been able to escape the net of schoolwork long enough to review. :)
I loved the scene between Merry and Pippin. True masculinity at its best. :) Women have a much more civilized way of saying how much they mean to each other. ;) I hope Stella's baby is born without complications. You wouldn't dream of killing her in childbirth, would you? I'll hurt you, if you do. :)
Also, I enjoyed the scene in the stable. Horses are truly a comfort at times like that. And a spouse probably helps, too, but I wouldn't know. :) Merry and Estella's love was well portrayed, just like in Faint Heart.
Pippin trying to go to sleep was cute, too. Lily's such a darling! I hope Diamond likes her rock. :) And let's hope that all those little brown-headed, blue-eyed Tooks are in the epilogue. :)
Also, I just found out *why* the computer disconnected me, because it just did it again. Every time someone picks up the phone, the stupid thing disconnects. ~_~ THAT will get aggravating. :)
But anyway, great chapter.
Author's reply
We'll be seeing some of Estella's labor in Chapter 16 (and rest easy, for she will be in the rest of the story). And I'm very glad you liked the stables scene! I couldn't help putting a wee bit of Merry/Estella stuff in this story. :)
Thanks so much for your comments!

I always love stories about the love and friendship between Merry and Pippin. This was a lovely chapter because of that. I certainly hope Pippin takes Merry's advice and tries for a proper kiss this time!
Author's reply
Oh yes, I adore getting into the Merry/Pippin friendship, it's so pure and loving and just fun. Thanks for the feedback!

Wow, you managed to summarise the entire trilogy into one chapter! Great work there! You did it very well, with Diamond's interaction and sketching (that was a particularly nice touch!). Please continue soon, you are a fantastic writer!

I don't know whether I should praise you for writing such a wonderful chapter, or if I should strangle you for not writing a kiss on the lips :P. I got that happy twisty warm fuzzy feeling in my belly whilst reading this. You write their relationship so beautifully. It's so sweet and innocent and so full of love that it makes me want to cry! I serioulsy was thisclose to tears when Pippin was crying because he misses Frodo so much. Right now, my throat just contstricted thinking about it! That's how good this is! *bows* Thank you so much for this chapter, for this whole story! You seriously rule!

Yay!!! You've updated it!!!
Well, they've finally met again. and pip was able to tell her about his adventure. I love the part where he tells her what ernil e perianneth means. hee hee. They're so cute!
I agree with the other reviewers; this fic needs to be updated more often. But I suppose anything this good is worth waiting for.

I love this as I had never thought of how Pippin would have to tell Diamond about his past. It is a mark of how much he loved and trusted her that he was able to share it with her. It is a wonderful chapter and makes their relationship so special. Please, keep going.

Good. They managed to make it through the night without interruption, but Pippin should have helped her through the window! :)
I'm glad to see that he finally managed to get everything off his chest, like Merry did in Faint Heart. I've always felt sorry for Pippin. At least Theoden didn't turn nasty on Merry. But I suppose they both had their traumatising experiences.
And Pippin's grief was written so well that I could see him, feel his pain, hear his sobs. It was wonderful.
The only thing that I could find that you might want to do something about, is the fact that Diamond was drawing in the middle of the night. Do hobbits have extra sharp night vision?

I stumbled across your stories just yesterday. These are really good! You ish very talented. ^_^ I cannot stop reading them, and you have me motivated to fix some of my own stories, and write some new ones.
P.S I love the Moulin Rouge-ness. that would be one of my favorite movies other than LOTR
Author's reply
Thank you!! I'm so glad I could motivate you to write! :)
And Moulin Rouge is incredible, isn't it?

*squeals* I loved that chapter! It gave me some more warm fuzzies. Diamond reminds me so much of myself. We're both shy and don't have much confidence within ourselves. Oh, and we both love Pippin with a passion :P. You're such an excellent writer. I really am enjoying this story so very much. Keep it up! Oh, and if you'd like to check out my diary, it's at www.freeopendiary.com and my user name is Diamond*Took :P

Yay for warm fuzzies! And I love it when someone says they're reminded of themselves in a certain character - it's great to know that I'm writing someone the readers can connect to. Also makes me feel like Pippin will be in good hands. :) Thank you so much!
And I'll see if I can check out that diary. :)

Another beautiful chapter. I especially loved Merry's interaction with his little girl. Liliadoc - what a cute name! Looking forward to the next chapter - which I hope will have plenty of Pip/Di action!
(I have discovered that it's near impossible to write a Merry/Estella story without having some Pippin/Diamond involvement, so yes, I have put my own spin on the Pippin/Diamond romance!)
Author's reply
Thank you so much! I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on Merry as a daddy, and I'm so glad people liked it because I had so much fun writing it. :)

Awww...I just adore this story! The letters Pippin sends to Diamond are beautiful. Though it seems all this good is building up to something happening. That's okay! Wonderful story :):):)

I hope when they do get to see one another, you don't have her dad come in and wreck the entire party. That would be horrible!
But I just adored Lily, the cute little kid! :D I do hope we get to see more of her.
Keep up the hard work, and may you find food for your plot-bunny before too long. The wait between updates is rather long, don't you think. :)
Author's reply
Thanks so much! And we'll definitely be seeing more of Lily; considering the timeframe that this story will span, we'll probably get to watch her (and her future sibling) growing up over the years.
And I'm very sorry for the long waits... you have to understand, I don't have as much free time now because my classes are a little harder this semester, and I've got some other things going on in my life that keep me occupied. But I'm reaching a point in the story for which inspiration is coming more easily, so let's hope that'll help the situation. :)
Well worth waiting for! Love Merry's little daughter and how both he and Pippin spoil her. I also hope Pippin kisses Diamond again and this time not on the cheek.
Author's reply
Thanks! And I'm glad Lily snuck her way into that chapter - people seem to enjoy the little miscreant. As for the kissing... we'll see. *adjusts halo*
Pippin's anticipation is adorable. This is a wonderful story.

I licked how Pippin went to Merry and told him everything and how Merry didn't want him to "give up on her" as it looks like not everyone will be happy with the match! I hope they are able to develope their relationship without too many problems! Looking forward to more, thank you!
Author's reply
Thank *you*! And I figured that if Pippin was going to go to anyone for advice, it would be Merry (unless, of course, it was about the writing of love letters - I think we all know which Steward of Gondor he would call upon in that situation ;) ).

I've decided to continue reading this story here rather than at fanfiction.net. I actually went "Yay!" when I saw that you had updated :P. This was such a sweet chapter. I couldn't help but smile at the conversation between Merry and Pippin; it made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I can't wait until Pippin and Diamond see each other again, although I'm all for romantic-drama-angst. It makes the final getting-together of characters that much more satisfying :D!
Author's reply
Hehe, thank you! I'm glad this chapter gave you the Fuzzies. And don't worry, this story will definitely not be lacking in romantic angst.

Pippin's truly a goner. And what a great description of melty-eyed love...
"Grinning helplessly, Pippin said, "I've never met anyone like her, Merry. She has the most incredible effect on me... it's all very bewildering, and yet... not."
So sweet!
Author's reply
Thanks so much! And I think you're right about Pippin - he hasn't a prayer (and neither does Diamond). :D

Absolutely beautiful! I'll have to add this story to the list of reasons I could never write a Peregrin/Diamond story! You've done very well developing Diamond's character - it's really a gift and a curse that we're told so little about her, isn't it? I mean, everyone can give her their own little personality, but there's no hints as to what direction to take! Pippin is also incredible, in character but also with that whole love-lorn feel about him. And then there's your "reason" about why there is only one child in the Took-brood. And yes, I recognised the Moulin Rouge little quote - it's what caught my eye!
Author's reply
Aw, thank you! You're right about Diamond's character - I've seen many different interpretations of her (and Estella, and even Rosie), and it's interesting to see all those portrayals of that one character. I think it's really a matter of looking at Pippin and deciding what kind of person you can see him falling in love with, which isn't very easy. I'm so glad you like how I'm writing Diamond, and *very* glad you like how I'm writing Pippin! Characterization is very important to me, so it's always great to hear people complimenting how I write the characters.
(By the way, if you want to write a Pippin/Diamond story, I say go for it. Certainly don't compare your stories to what other people have written. :) )
