Tari · 17 June 2011 · Chapter 9: News By Water and Vision

It has been far too long since I have read this story. As always, I am greatly disturbed when Denethor turns to the palantir. He doen't realize that he only sees what Sauron wants him to see. The thought that Boromir lives gladdens my heart.

Larner · 27 May 2011 · Chapter 10: Hill of the Eye of Númenor

A wonderful Boromir-lives might-have-been you have started here. Although I worry as to what interpretation might be given that shard of Boromir's horn.

Matt · 20 May 2011 · Chapter 10: Hill of the Eye of Númenor

Although not usually a fan of the Boromir-survives genre I like your story due to the thoughtful portrayal of your characters and the nicely wound plot that you have built. Actions follow each other logically given the assumptions you've made and fit well within JKR's larger assumptions and history. Thanks so much for your excellent efforts--which I hope you will continue. Matt

Hope grows! And what benefit will be found in Boromir surviving? Denethor will NOT go mad of grief, and will choose to fight?

Tari · 1 June 2009 · Chapter 8: The Burden of Fear

I'm so glad Legolas stayed with Boromir. His words of wisdom were just what Boromir needed. Despair is definitely not the answer. There is always hope that good will prevail in the end as we know it will.

Agape4Gondor · 30 May 2009 · Chapter 8: The Burden of Fear

OH! I do love the friendship and respect between these two. And I am mightily glad that Legolas stayed with Boromir - I think the Steward's son is correct - he very well might have succumbed to darkness without the Elf by his side! Nicely written....

Agape4Gondor · 30 May 2009 · Chapter 7: 'Boromir Has Need of You'

Wow - I really love the 'conversation' between Denethor and Grithnir - I would not want to be Grithnir but he held himself well. Really great writing here - very tense and yet, Denethor does not come across as a monster... which is much appreciated! And Grithnir is shown to be a 'good' soldier and a loyal friend! Love this - 'The air was filled with the creak of insects and the sigh of wind in the tall reeds that thrived in the fen. The murmur of water was faint as it moved sluggishly through many channels amidst the grass, seeking a way to reach Anduin in the distance.'

Larner · 30 May 2009 · Chapter 8: The Burden of Fear

A good discussion between the two of them. As needed for Boromir's healing as the changing of his bandages and the cleansing of his wound, I think. Perfect tone!

BM · 30 May 2009 · Chapter 8: The Burden of Fear

An excellent addition to the story! I really like the interaction between Legolas and Boromir, and am really looking forward to more! My only concern is will the search party be able to find them in time for Legolas to get to Helm's Deep, or will you decide to keep Legolas from that battle?

Aiwen · 15 May 2009 · Chapter 7: 'Boromir Has Need of You'

Interesting. I am curious to see how it turns out.

Larner · 15 May 2009 · Chapter 7: 'Boromir Has Need of You'

I rejoice that they have found stalwart men to send in search of Boromir. Now, to find their way through the fens so they can get to the North Stair and Parth Galen.

Tari · 20 March 2009 · Chapter 6: The Stain of Blood

So, Sauron even haunts Boromir's dreams. I'm so glad Legolas is there to help him heal. There's nothing like the sweet sound of an elf singing to sooth the soul.

Author's reply

We need more Elvish singing in the world, don't we? Thanks for reading and reviewing, Tari!

Larner · 13 March 2009 · Chapter 6: The Stain of Blood

To be haunted by such a feeling of failure.... Well written.

Author's reply

Sorry it took me so long to say thanks for reading, Larner! It is definitely hard to shake the haunting that such failure brings, and being weakened by injury doesn't help any. I suspect Boromir is not used to feeling this way -- I think he's the kind of guy who is usually able to talk himself out of bad moods! Again, thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. :-)

Agape4Gondor · 12 March 2009 · Chapter 6: The Stain of Blood

Oh my! What a heart-breaking chapter.... Very difficult for Boromir to accept what he had done - reminds me a bit of Macbeth - though the circumstances were vastly different. But the 'blood' of guilt can be overwhelming. Love how you 'took care' of the Horn - so that's how poor Denethor gets it - and broken in two also. Great job. Needless to say, I love Legolas here - compassionate and strong. Just what the Man of Gondor needs.... And poor Pip............

Author's reply

It's a pretty dark time for Boromir right now, and I fear he would have been quite lost in all ways if Legolas had not turned up. Compassionate and strong is definitely what Boromir needs right now. Sorry it took me so long to say thanks for reading and reviewing!

Raksha The Demon · 9 March 2009 · Chapter 2: Hands of a Healer

Good work on the details of Boromir's thoughts and reactions to his injuries, and on Aragorn's healing work - it reads very real.

Raksha The Demon · 9 March 2009 · Chapter 5: 'We Cannot Leave Him'

Legolas will make a very effective bodyguard and nursemaid for the wounded warrior, I think. Good chapter, and the AU plotline continues to intrigue.

Earosse · 1 March 2009 · Chapter 5: 'We Cannot Leave Him'

This story just keeps getting better and better!

Larner · 28 February 2009 · Chapter 5: 'We Cannot Leave Him'

I suspect this was a very wise decision. Good for them! And if any of them can catch up once help comes for Boromir, it would be Legolas. Good interweaving of the original concerns by Aragorn.

Agape4Gondor · 28 February 2009 · Chapter 5: 'We Cannot Leave Him'

I was just reading that chapter of TTT - and remarked at how difficult the parting was. I love the fact that Boromir is thought of as as important and the Hobbits.... Very often, we forget the fact that each of the Fellowship is as important as the other... though Frodo's mission, of course, was the underlying factor. Yet - it did my heart good to see the love and respect for Boromir - and his obvious delight at finding help and companionship for the nonce. Great chapter - looking forward to more!!!

Tari · 27 February 2009 · Chapter 2: Hands of a Healer

Even while in severe pain, Boromir’s thoughts are only for the safety of the Hobbits. What a big heart he truly has. Crying out, or fainting from pain is not a sign of weakness; rather it is a sign of his humanity. I just know Aragorn will succeed in saving him.

Earosse · 23 February 2009 · Chapter 4: A Hard Parting

I really think that this is a wonderful story so far. I can't wait for the next chapter.

Feondril · 21 February 2009 · Chapter 4: A Hard Parting

I was hoping somebody would write a story about what would of happened if Boromir had survived! I look forward to the continuation of this story with great anticipation. Well written :)

Tari · 20 February 2009 · Chapter 1: Surrounded

Lin, I can begin to tell you how happy I am to see this posted again. It has been so long since I read it that I am delighted to start again. I love your alternate story for Boromir and the fact that he lives. He is in a difficult predicament right now and you bring his thoughts regarding his circumstances to life. Did the Hobbits escape? Will help arrive? We’ll just have to wait and see.

BM · 18 February 2009 · Chapter 4: A Hard Parting

Checking in again to let you know that I had been wondering what you would do with Boromir and much you would attempt to stick to cannon, and can say that I was surprised at your solution--but very happy with it, as well, since it keeps the three hunters and the events in Rohan intact and true to the book. You've got an excellent story going here! Now I'm just wondering who will find Boromir first and how you are going to continue to work him into the rest of the story. I'm looking forward to more!

Agape4Gondor · 18 February 2009 · Chapter 4: A Hard Parting

It would have been easier on us all if you had fainted! - Still laughing - but it also would have been easier on Boromir!!! prepare a litter for my carrying, and not a bier - my sentiments eactly - but then Aragorn reassures him - thankfully.... The man needs someone to give him the strength needed to get past what he has just endured and what he will endure - I can't see the walk (even carried) as very comfortable! "I see the truth," he said through his tears, "yet still I desire It! - This was so sad to read, even tho we know he no longer hears the Ring, the hope is still there for some victory, some help for Gondor. He is still suffering the effects, the lies, of the Ring. the shards of his sword - Oh! I'm glad he's got his sword - that's, I think, thanks to Aragorn. His mouth twisted ruefully, - very difficult times for Boromir of Gondor - swallowing his pride and his dreams and his NEED to help Aragorn as well as his people.... half in hope that one, at least, would turn back to remain with him - Poor Boromir - even being the great Captain of Gondor... I can only sit and hope that Denethor sends aid soon!
