Im so happy for Maglor and his family! He truly deserves some peace. And finally he was able to have children of his own:) ! I have not read much about " the old elves" from Feanors time and its interesting to have some insight on their lives how it could be. Its also amazing how you managed to weave our age and our inventions into the old world of Aman and the Straight road opening. Somehow it felt like a more hopeful world even though "our "time on Arda isnt exactly perfect with Wars, injustice, racialissues, famine etc. Low bows to you story!

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I'm thrilled you read this despite not having read many stories focusing on the Silm Elves. I adore Elves-in-present-day fic, and it also made sense that Maglor (and/or the Valar think he) wouldn't be ready to return to Aman before then. I also have a hard time believing the Elves would stagnate, hence the technology. Hopeful was exactly the mood I aimed for. Again, thank you!

I read this all in one day! I was so glad to see Makalaurë have his happy ending. I truly think he deserved it even if the journey was difficult. I look forward to reading more of your work...I believe you mentioned some prequels to this work. Thank you for sharing this unique and entertaining story!

Author's reply

Wow! That's awesome! He definitely deserves it. Thank you so much! As for prequels, there are a few posted here (Embers, Every Wish, and Never Look Back), but most of them are found on SWG: http://www.silmarillionwritersguild.org/archive/home/viewseries.php?seriesid=65 (the link is to the series). SWG's my primary posting platform; I usually don't post my Tolkien fic anywhere else these days. Again, thank you and if you read my other stories, I hope you enjoy them.

That was beautiful. I took my time reading, so I could savour it. Maglor is my favorite character, and you did an awesome job with him.

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it, and ecstatic that you think I did an awesome job with him.

walkerskye · 24 April 2011 · Chapter 999

Its Lent and Eastertide as I've read this, a perfect time to read a very well done story about forgiveness. thank you. I look forward to more about Maglor's adventures in redemption.

Author's reply

I'm glad you enjoyed it! At this time, I have no plans to write sequels to RAFA. All further stories in this 'verse will be set prior to it.

Mrs.Glorfindel · 27 February 2011 · Chapter 999

I I just wanted to say how much I love your story, it was really well written and I looked forward to finding new chapters to read. I can not wait to read the prequel. one thing that I've been trying to figure out, you wrote that "the years turned into yeni" but Tirn, Maglor's dog is still alive, how ?

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm glad you love it. As for Tirn: I'm one of the people who believe that animals in Aman have longer lifespans than their counterparts on Middle-earth. They aren't immortal, just incredibly long-lived. (Canon example-- look at the mearas and especially Shadowfax.)

Celeritas · 27 February 2011 · Chapter 999

Indy, I just wanted to leave you a note letting you know how much I've enjoyed this whole fic. It's a concept that hasn't been done too often (I've seen briefer treatments, I think), and I loved how it actually looked into the realistic consequences of Maglor's return, especially old friends and his wife (!). This is definitely on my list of MEFA noms for 2011, but I wouldn't be surprised if I got beaten out!

Author's reply

Thank you so much! Honestly, part of the reason I wrote RAFA was because I hadn't seen any novel-length stories dealing with it! Plus, for me, the interesting part wasn't that he returned, but his and others' reactions to it. So I'm glad you love the consequences. This is definitely on my list of MEFA noms for 2011, but I wouldn't be surprised if I got beaten out! This made my day. :D Again, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

UTfrog · 24 February 2011 · Chapter 25

This is a really good story. You have fleshed out a difficult character in a highly believable manner. Thank you for the hard work.

Author's reply

Thank you! RAFA was a lot of fun to write, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Monalex · 20 February 2011 · Chapter 25

I hate the Valar!!!!! They are a bunch of supposedly "known it all" but they are prejudice and petty. I HATE THEM!!!!! How dare they fault poor Maglor and not punish severely the ones who are really responsible????!!!!! I still considered the actions of the Valar and the inhabitants of Valinor to be deplorable, but mostly those of the Valar, since they are not ruled by sentiments and emotions like the elves. They claimed to have learned their lesson on interference from their actions with Feanor, but they clearly have not and they also have not learned to not mistreat someone and push them to do things they would not normally do, those INTERFERING BASTARDS!!!!!!

Author's reply

I have never understood the Valar's actions in regards to the House of Finwë myself-- I consider them just as much to blame for what happened as I do Fëanor himself. (And I *like* Fëanor.) I don't hate the Valar, however, I just dislike them. Thing is, in the course of RAFA, Maglor's under some pretty heavy restrictions, and they couldn't turn a blind eye to him getting involved in an altercation in Alqualondë. On the surface alone, it looks bad. But they assumed the worst rather than waiting to find out the truth, and didn't really want to listen, no matter that the majority wouldn't blame Maglor.

Mysterious Jedi · 14 February 2011 · Chapter 24

Poor Maglor. I hope the Valar aren't too hard on him.

Author's reply

Poor Maglor indeed.

Freyalyn · 14 February 2011 · Chapter 24

And more cliffies! You're making a habit of this. Love how the story's developing though, and the thoughtfulness you're putting in to the different cultures and cities. Thank you.

Author's reply

The story worked best that way, scene break-wise. I'm really glad you appreciate the differences. I can't imagine Valinor being homogenous. There's too many peoples with their own histories and cultures.

ecan · 13 February 2011 · Chapter 24

Not fair! not fair!!NOT FAIR!!!!!! two cliffie that's could kill me. Great story But stop with these Cliff hanger they're keeping me up at night.LOL Ecan

Author's reply

*evil grin* The story worked best that way. I'm glad you're still enjoying it!

ecan1 · 1 February 2011 · Chapter 23

WOW that ending a real cliffhanger. NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!! IM really enjoying this story. Ecan

Author's reply

*evil grin* Thank you!

Freyalyn · 1 February 2011 · Chapter 23

Now that's a rotten place to leave the story - I hope you'll let us know what happens next soon. I find I can read this story without even noticing the style or the punctuation or anything - which is a very high compliment. It seems completely natural and fitting. Thank you for sharing.

Author's reply

Soon. :) Can't guarantee when, though-- it's with a beta. That's an awesome compliment indeed! Thank you so much! :D

ecan · 17 January 2011 · Chapter 22

glad to see things getting better for maglor great chapter hope to read more ecan

Author's reply

Thank you!

Freyalyn · 13 January 2011 · Chapter 22

I love how this story is growing, and how you have created such a logically and carefully imagined society in Aman. I've got a horrible feeling you're going to kill Tirn though.

Author's reply

Aww, thank you! I'm really glad you think Aman's society is logical. The only way pets in my fics die is old age.

Erulisse (one L) · 21 December 2010 · Chapter 21

I'm delighted with my Solstice gift - another chapter in Maglor's new life. I feel that eventually he will meld into his new society, but I am very happy that he can be with his wife and work on his music as well. I think he misses his old friends - Elrond and Glorfindel, but he is making new ones and that's to everyone's benefit. Thank you. - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

You're welcome, and I hope your Solstice was a good one! It will take time, but he will eventually meld. I'm glad you like his new life.

Aiwen · 20 December 2010 · Chapter 21

That would be quite a LONG song cycle! We humans do a lot in short amounts of time and given the amount of time Maglor has been there he probably has enough material to last him until the end of Arda.

Author's reply

Yes, it is. He definitely has enough material to last until then. But highlights first, to get people interested. :)

Erulisse (one L) · 10 December 2010 · Chapter 20

I was delighted to see the next chapter in this tale (and the season is a hectic one, so apologies are unnecessary). It is wonderful that Maglor is finally being given more freedom and the ability to live with his wife away from Elrond's demense. I worry about his general acceptance in a new area, but I'm sure he will cope. The hoops that the Valar are making him jump through are both aggravating and demeaning. Shame on the Elder King! Thank you for a lovely gift for the Season, and best wishes for a good Solstice. - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

Yes, Maglor will cope. Shame on the Elder Kind indeed! (I maintain that the Ainur, no matter how hard they try, will never fully understand the Children and will continue to make mistakes. They're simply too different.) A good Solstice to you as well, Erulisse! :D

Angwen · 22 November 2010 · Chapter 19

Question: how do you pronounce Maglor's wife's name, and what is your translation for it? I'm assuming 'nar-MIN-kay', and that it means 'little fire' or 'small flame'... is that about right? Used the 'Ambar Eldaron' to attempt the translation, but my skills are basic at best.

Author's reply

Pronunciation's right, but the translation is "little wolf." I got the name from the Quenya Baby Name Book. (Obviously, I have no skills in Elvish. :P)

ecan · 14 November 2010 · Chapter 19

good chapter.Happy to see he's with his wife.

Author's reply

Thank you!
