Lindelea · 21 June 2010 · Chapter 18: Ripe Apples

Delightful! It sounds as if Frodo's very happy in his new home

Author's reply

Indeed so, Lindelea. Thanks!

Sunny · 20 June 2010 · Chapter 17: Quick Hands

Erm, I meant, tell you everything you need to _know_. The weather has been very fine here, so I suppose my brain is still a little overheated... ;-)

Author's reply

Oh, I understand. My fingers often outstrip my brain and head off in strange directions. Our weather has continued grey and cool. It's SUPPOSED to be Summer!

Sunny · 20 June 2010 · Chapter 17: Quick Hands

What each pair of hands do tell you all you need to do about that character, don't they?

Author's reply

Indeed, we do know each by his or her actions! And Lotho's speak volumes!

Armariel · 20 June 2010 · Chapter 17: Quick Hands

Well! There was a conclusion I didn't expect! Brava!! LOL ~~~~~{~@

Author's reply

And I gladly bow. Thank you, thank you! Heh!

Andrea · 20 June 2010 · Chapter 17: Quick Hands

LOL!!! The last line was the best :-D

Author's reply

Am glad to please! Heh! Thanks!

eiluj · 20 June 2010 · Chapter 17: Quick Hands

I certainly never expected that list to be capped by Lotho S-B!

Author's reply

Well, I've poked my finger at his parents--why not Lotho, too? Heh! Thanks, Julie!

Armariel · 19 June 2010 · Chapter 16: Pesky Pervinca

Bilbo, world famous adventurer and child psychologist.....ah yes!:) ~~~~~{~@

Author's reply

Heh! Thanks so!

Andrea · 18 June 2010 · Chapter 15: Officious Otho

LOL! Some chapters before I asked who cares what Lobelia thinks. Obviously, this is also true for Otho ;-) The hobbits present can very well distinguish between someone who *thinks* himself important and someone who *is* important. I liked this one very much!

Author's reply

Am so glad you do, Andrea. It was fun to write, too! Heh!

Antane · 18 June 2010 · Chapter 15: Officious Otho

I love Bilbo's quiet power and dignity here which overpowers Otho loudness. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Glad you find it that way, Antane. Thanks!

Lindelea · 18 June 2010 · Chapter 15: Officious Otho

I love it! Speak softly and carry a big... um... spoon.

Author's reply

Heh! Indeed! And I suspect that Hobbits often prefer the bigger spoons anyway!

Antane · 17 June 2010 · Chapter 14: Nightmare

Poor Bilbo! It never occured to me that he would have nightmares like his heartson will but it certainly makes unfortunate sense. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

I suspect that anywhere in proximity to that Ring, Its bearer was likely to suffer at least at times from nightmares; and PTSD can happen to anyone who's been through traumatic events!

Armariel · 17 June 2010 · Chapter 14: Nightmare

Still more "fun sized" goodies. Keep 'em coming.:):):):) ~~~~~{~@

Author's reply

Oh, yes, an alphabet's worth. Thanks, Armariel!

Antane · 16 June 2010 · Chapter 13: Master and Man

Andrea is right - how cares what Lobelia thinks - or Dora! Sam was ever one to see Frodo's soul, clearer than anyone could, save Bilbo perhap, far clearer than Frodo himself could and that is the light he cleaves to and loves so dear, as he says so in my favorite passage in Book IV. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

One of my favorite passages, too. Thanks, Antane.

Andrea · 16 June 2010 · Chapter 13: Master and Man

If only most masters were as honorable, Bilbo thought. Well, there *are* lots of bad examples! But one of those rare honorable masters is a certain Bilbo Baggins :-) (Besides, who cares what Lobelia thinks?)

Author's reply

Bilbo and Frodo did indeed prove two of the good ones! And Lobelia was a nasty git! Heh!

Antane · 15 June 2010 · Chapter 12: Likin' the Young Master

Nice to know how wrong - and right in some ways - that the Gaffer is. Where in Middle-earth would we be if Sam's heart wasn't tied to the young master? Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Yes, in many ways right, but in a supremely important way totally wrong. That friendship proved so important for the Free Peoples of Middle Earth!

Andrea · 15 June 2010 · Chapter 11: Kissing Cousins

So, Bilbo knew about Narcissa? Who knows what would have happened if he had told Frodo his thoughts! On the other hand, he would have felt like intruding into Frodo's privacy.

Author's reply

I'm certain that Bilbo realized Narcissa Boffin was as in love with Frodo as Pearl appeared to be, and suspect he'd prefer Narcissa for his lad over Pearl, no matter how much he liked Pearl himself. But he'd not wish to interfere in Frodo's life, not when he realized he'd not be staying in the Shire.

harrowcat · 15 June 2010 · Chapter 12: Likin' the Young Master

The Gaffer sees a lot of what is in Frodo....and fears for his son. Sam's heart sees even more clearly and allows him to accept whatever tying his heart to Frodo's will mean for his future. Great Larner.

Author's reply

You are so very right, Harrowcat. I think we are all glad Sam's heart saw the truer. Thanks so!

Lindelea · 15 June 2010 · Chapter 12: Likin' the Young Master

Awww. This one just sort of melted my heart.

Author's reply

I'm so glad it did, Lindelea. Thank you so!

harrowcat · 15 June 2010 · Chapter 11: Kissing Cousins

*sigh* Sometimes the keen wit gets overlooked because her prettier sisters make themselves a little more available. (At least, that is what I told myself for many years!) But, in Frodo's case, I think that he is too honourable to look around and 'play the field' when focussed on one lady. And then it was too late.

Author's reply

There I agree, Harrowcat. By the time he began to look again the Ring had come to him, and he'd begun to question his own motives and character. Thanks so very much!

Linda Hoyland · 13 June 2010 · Chapter 10: Justice

I liked the way the punishment fitted the crime.

Author's reply

Yes, I think that the Gaffer and Sam would see to that! Thanks, Linda!

Linda Hoyland · 13 June 2010 · Chapter 9: Inspiration

A lovely glimpse of Bilbo's love for Frodo.

Author's reply

I'm glad you think so. How the two of them suited one another!

Linda Hoyland · 13 June 2010 · Chapter 8: Helping Hamfast

A lovely glimpse of what a thoughtful youngster Frodo was.

Author's reply

He must have been that, Linda. Thanks so!

Antane · 13 June 2010 · Chapter 9: Inspiration

Looks like we are inspired by the same person! :) And I must include Sam and Aragorn in there also as two more of my primary teachers. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

I'm certain you and Bilbo have a good deal in common, Antane! Heh! Thanks so!

harrowcat · 13 June 2010 · Chapter 10: Justice

Loved Sam sounding like his Gaffer and Frodo's reaction.

Author's reply

Oh, yes, Sam mirrors his father's behavior. But of course Frodo can't judge other scrumpers too harshly, not with his own history! Heh! Thanks, Harrowcat!

Lindelea · 12 June 2010 · Chapter 9: Inspiration

Beautifully done, and perfect for (my) bedtime story tonight. Thanks!

Author's reply

Am so glad you find it restful, Lindelea! Ah, but may the Hobbit be blessed!
