Once more, truly enjoying this series. And you've long been an inspiration to me, Larner.:) ~~~~~{~@

Author's reply

Thank you, Armariel. I'm overwhelmed!

Andrea · 12 June 2010 · Chapter 9: Inspiration

All it takes is one smile of delight from you, and I melt! How wonderful! I liked this very much. Frodo inspired Bilbo to do the best he could. The result of these efforts is truly remarkable! And what could be a better reward than a smile from Frodo?

Author's reply

I do believe that the two of them brought out the best in one another! As for that reward--Ah! How I would delight to be a recipient of one!

shirebound · 12 June 2010 · Chapter 9: Inspiration

Bilbo is a 'father' at last, and both of them will benefit from it. :)

Author's reply

He may have waited a bit long, but Bilbo does at least know that joy. And we know he appreciates every moment of it! Thanks so very much, Shirebound.

Ainu-Yavanna · 12 June 2010 · Chapter 9: Inspiration

A lovely description of Bilbos soft spot.

Author's reply

Oh, I so agree. Thanks, Ainu-Yavanna!

Antane · 11 June 2010 · Chapter 8: Helping Hamfast

Another sweet look at our lad! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Indeed, Antane. I have a feeling most Hobbits liked young Frodo.

shirebound · 11 June 2010 · Chapter 8: Helping Hamfast

I'm greatly enjoying this 'extended story' told in drabbles. I never tire of hearing about Frodo's experiences with Bilbo and the residents of The Row.

Author's reply

Thanks so, Shirebound. Exploring the Shire through Bilbo's eyes and heart is proving wonderful!

Linda Hoyland · 10 June 2010 · Chapter 7: Gathering Gladiola

Delightfully amusing!

Author's reply

I guess I could have written about the Gaffer, but somehow this was more fun. Heh! Thanks, Linda!

Linda Hoyland · 10 June 2010 · Chapter 6: Fetching Frodo

I love Bilbo's plans for Frodo.

Author's reply

I'm certain Bilbo found himself with all kinds of plans, once he'd decided to bring Frodo home! Thanks so, Linda!

Linda Hoyland · 10 June 2010 · Chapter 5: Echoes

I agree with Pippin that echoes can be creepy.

Author's reply

Yes, that they can be. Although I tend to find them more disconcerting at times. But they can be helpful when I'm working under blindfold. Thanks, Linda.

Linda Hoyland · 10 June 2010 · Chapter 4: Dearest Dora

I just love Aunt Dora. Little does she know!

Author's reply

I think even Dora will be positively impressed by Frodo Baggins!

Linda Hoyland · 10 June 2010 · Chapter 3: Children's Priorities

I love the contrast here between the children and adults.A wonderful glimpse of Hobbit (human) nature.

Author's reply

Oh, am so glad you find it that way, too, Linda! Thank you!

Antane · 10 June 2010 · Chapter 7: Gathering Gladiola

Ah, how nice to see Frodo and Sam together already here in the G's and that they are Gleeful. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

But of course they're gleeful! Thanks, Antane!

eiluj · 10 June 2010 · Chapter 7: Gathering Gladiola

Seventeen words beginning with G: one out of six words in the drabble. Just enough to be significant; nothing forced! And Sam giggled. Gotta love it.

Author's reply

Gotta admit I did examine where I might add in a G-word in this one--and you counted? Grinning! Thanks, eiluj!

harrowcat · 10 June 2010 · Chapter 7: Gathering Gladiola

So how many Gs is that! ggggggggggggggggggggggggrin!

Author's reply

Heh! Thanks, Harrowcat!

Antane · 9 June 2010 · Chapter 6: Fetching Frodo

Ah, we have reached the anticipated F! And it is sweet to think of all the years the two will now have together. Now for the longer wait of S... :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Oh, but we don't HAVE to wait for "S." You are already seeing, of course! Thanksm, Antane.

Andrea · 9 June 2010 · Chapter 6: Fetching Frodo

I enjoyed these little stories a great deal! And I've been wondering which character you would choose for the letter "F". I see, you did exactly what I guessed ;-) There's still spirit in the lad, especially when the S.-B.'s are mentioned. So, Frodo is just the perfect heir for Bilbo! And Bilbo is the perfect teacher.

Author's reply

I doubt there was much to wonder about when it came to "F." Heh! Yes, in this case the two are perfectly matched! Yes, spirit is there, and in plenty! Thanks so, Andrea.

shirebound · 9 June 2010 · Chapter 6: Fetching Frodo

Dear Bilbo. What a wonderful time for both him and Frodo.

Author's reply

Oh, I agree so, Shirebound. Thank you!

Antane · 8 June 2010 · Chapter 5: Echoes

Got to love any mention of Frodo dancing... :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

There I certainly agree! Heh!

Armariel · 8 June 2010 · Chapter 5: Echoes

Enjoying this series and the fresh clean minimalist aspect of it. Am looking forward to more soon! ~~~~~{~@

Author's reply

Am glad you are enjoying it, Armariel. Drabbles help us hone our writing, I find. Some, like LindaHoyland, Tanaqui, Imhiriel, and AnnMarwalk are such masters of the form!

Antane · 7 June 2010 · Chapter 4: Dearest Dora

Now how can Dora Possibly Not Know that Blameless Child was Actually one of the Worst Rascals of Buckland? :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Good question, Antane? Heh!

Lindelea · 7 June 2010 · Chapter 4: Dearest Dora

Dora certainly got it right, here! I'm glad she saw that special spark in Frodo (and I've no doubt she had no illusions about his "innocence" -- I'm sure she included choice passages in her instructions on bringing up young hobbits that dealt with correcting antisocial behaviour such as stealing mushrooms...) and I'm very glad she prompted Bilbo to Do the Right Thing. Lovely!

Author's reply

You are likely right, Lindelea. Heh! And she will feel a sepcial satisfaction when she knows he's finally Done the Right Thing and fetched the lad home to Hobbiton once more! Heh. And thanks so for the MEFA nomination!

eiluj · 7 June 2010 · Chapter 4: Dearest Dora

Well, Dora won't be able to say Bilbo never took her advice. [What difficult choices you have, being limited to only one alphabet on this subject!]

Author's reply

She will be certain that she was his inspiration this time, of course. Heh!

Antane · 6 June 2010 · Chapter 3: Children's Priorities

This will be a fun series I think, especially I hope when we get to F! :) :) I would have the same priorities as that child. Ah, to be able to do nothing but read and write all day - that is a true vacation for me. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

We are getting there, Antane. A few more days, and we will reach F indeed! Hope you enjoy it. Thanks so!

Linda Hoyland · 6 June 2010 · Chapter 2: Bag End

A lovely account of how Bag End came to be!

Author's reply

Thank you so, Linda.

Linda Hoyland · 6 June 2010 · Chapter 1: Aldagrim Took

I guess Bilbo Would have had far more time for Pippin who would only have been a small child when he left. You never know when an adventurous streak will appear in Hobbits!

Author's reply

And particularly in those who are Tooks! Heh! Thanks so, Linda.
