Larner · 27 May 2007 · Chapter 51: A Strange Summons

Oh, no, we DON'T want the S-Bs there with that Ring present! And it does appear that they have all their Is dotted and Ts crossed--for the moment, at least.

Larner · 27 May 2007 · Chapter 50: Passing the Time

I have a suspicion this fire was set by one of the S-Bs, trying to get rid of an unwanted adoption document. So, Bilbo--hurry home, and soon.

Larner · 27 May 2007 · Chapter 49: Helping Old Friends

Interesting they would send all the way to the Shire for Bilbo, as Moria lies between the Lonely Mountain and the Shire, although a good way to the south of Rivendell. But I love that they hope Bilbo will talk sense into Dwalin.

Larner · 27 May 2007 · Chapter 48: Disorientation

Glad to see him recover at last and the friendship restored amidst himself, Folco, and Fatty. And good to see the Dwarves arrive.

Larner · 27 May 2007 · Chapter 47: Rufo Recommends Rest

Nice to see the hints of the real Freddy beginning to make themselves obvious.

Larner · 26 May 2007 · Chapter 46: A Heated Confrontation

Hooray for all of them. A wonderful resolution to this fight, and Freddy's back on the right path now.

Larner · 26 May 2007 · Chapter 45: The Free Fair

Hmm. Frodo's coming down with perhaps heat prostration, Hal's wanting to meet a lass, and Merry's on the wrong side of Lotho. And Frodo just saw that. Not a good thing to do, Lotho my lad.

Larner · 26 May 2007 · Chapter 44: Something in the Air

Trust Lobelia to blame someone else! Alas and alack. Poor Frodo stuck at the tailors, while Folco is rescuing damsels in distress and becoming smitten. And loved the wedding feast.

GamgeeFest · 26 May 2007 · Chapter 55: A Friend In Need

Oh dear! Does that little trunk by chance contain Bilbo's will? What is taking Bilbo so long getting back? And more importantly, where is Frodo really? I don't think he's gone to Buckland as he says in his letter, and I too am worried about him staying outdoors somewhere while he's still recovering from the flu. If only he would just tell Saradoc and Paladin what has happened. They won't sit by and let the SBs get away with this if they knew the full truth.

We will see what Bilbo has been up to in the very next chapter! Er, two chapters from this one, that is. Chapter 57. :)

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 43: Summertime

The idea of being forced to accept tea from Lobelia would sicken me, I fear, and I'd be chary of eating or drinking anything she provided. So, she's wanting a good word put in with Bilbo, is she? And what are she and Otho after--another loan?

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 42: Helping and Parting

What a sweet little cupid he makes.

Althea · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 55: A Friend In Need

It's always a good day when I get to read a new chapter of this wonderful story. Your characters are so vividly written that it is easy to feel as if I'm right there experiencing the action with them. Marigold was a particular favorite in this chapter as was the Gaffer. Hooray for him for standing up to Lobelia. I wonder if Frodo has truly taken off to Buckland. I'm looking forward to reading more.

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I've just updated; sorry for my perpetual slowness.

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 41: Consequences

Yes, wonderful old Mad Baggins! Definitely the right one for the lad!

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 40: Mushrooms

Gus isn't exactly an ideal father, apparently. And Frodo's been caught!

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 39: Bitter Reflections

Related to Bell? Wonderful, then. And sorry the Brandybucks didn't approve of Drogo and don't appear, most of them at least, to have taken to his son, either. Very bad.

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 38: Swimming

A wonderful memory; and he needs to triumph over this fear.

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 37: Arrival at Brandy Hall

Glad he has hs priorities right! Hee!

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 36: Waiting for the Bagginses

Yes, far past the stables! And Bolo sounds a prat.

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 35: Faramond Rushlight

Oh, nice that he's met Aragorn already.

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 34: A Wizard's Reassurance

Aha, Frodomir gets his first introduction to a real ranger. Wonderful!

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 33: Ruffians

I love Gandalf! Excellent misdirection, leading them right to Strider's folk, I'll be bound!

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 32: A Journey With Gandalf

Oh, dear--ruffians, eh? He's getting rather more of an adventure than he'd bargained for, apparently. Poor Frodo!

Larner · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 31: A Happy Reunion

Yes, something indeed to look forward to. And indeed Gandalf appears to know more than he was told.

Larner · 24 May 2007 · Chapter 30: A Rampaging Oliphaunt

A most wonderful introduction to Gandalf, and indeed his appearance is given most properly. Love the horse's name and the reason for her skittishness. One note--a king reigns, but one uses reins for guiding horses. Homonyms here.

Larner · 24 May 2007 · Chapter 29: Goodbye, Hamson

Now, I absolutely LOVE that comparison--"Stubborn as a tomato stain" indeed! And he's learned that there are good reasons to have someone at least in the family learn to read and write. Learned his lesson indeed, he has. And Bell loves him for it, as is so right and good!
