· Chapter 21: In Which Three More are Added to the Wedding List and New Seating Arrangements are Made
Arafinwë's reunion with his brother and nephews went well, I think. And it was a smart move on Finrod's part to take them to Herendil's estate and have the reunion there, where there are only a few people who all know the foibles of the reborn. I shudder to think what might have happened if that reunion had been in Tirion!
I suppose that when the three newly Reborn arrive in town, the chaos that they generate really goes on steroids - and that in addition to the "usual" wedding madness, as well as whatever bees Almáriel has in her bonnet. ;-)
It shall also be interesting to see Anairë's reaction to having her husband and two of her sons asking "Who's Anairë?" when her name is mentioned.
*grins evilly* Poor Arafinwë and Eärwen. With the newest additions, they have, what, seven Reborn right there in the palace - and there will no doubt be others among the guests. Chaos squared and cubed!!
If nobody have invented popcorn yet, I suspect the Valar and Maiar are working hard on that particular project right now! ;-)
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. It does sort of sound like the plot of a bad Felini movie, doesn't it? LOL! I'm sure the Valar and Maiar are enjoying the show immensely. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Three returns all at the same time? No wonder he's feeling stressed! And the poor brother who never even made it to Middle Earth is all confused and trying to learn a language he never spoke! And I understand why Finrod's wondering why his father wasn't called here instead of him.
Quite the reunion coming, although it would seem an unnecessary complication for him at the moment. I understand his frustration. Poor Valar--it must seem there's no pleasing the Children at times!
Author's reply
Ack! I can't believe I didn't respond to this review before, Larner. Sorry about that, but I guess better late than never. I actually remember reading this but am not sure why I didn't answer it then. Oh well....
Finrod, Glorfindel and Sador, being Reborn themselves, were probably the best ones to handle these three and get them back to Tirion with a minimum of fuss, but Arafinwë is certainly going to get a shock when he finds out.
And where the Valar and Children are concerned, I think it's often a case of "damned if they do and damned if they don't". *grin*
Thanks for taking the time to read and review, Larner. I really appreciate it.

Makes sense, does he understand why his parents are where they are, he seemed to be very unhappy at the comment one of the ellyn made about his Amme?
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
I think he does understand about his parents and perhaps with his memories being incomplete he has no real emotional connection to them but knows that unlike his cousins, his parents are unavailable and will be for a very, very long time but the mention of his ammë (and atar) would probably be a sore point for him at this stage of his emotional development.

Just a thought, did Namo not release Intarion until his parents were tucked out of the way in Formanos because of their attitude to the Re-born?
Lynda
Author's reply
Hi Lynda. Intarion was released 5-6 years after Ingoldo and Tinwetariel were sent to Formenos and, yes, partly their attitude was a factor, but it wasn't so much that they resented the Reborn, as much as they resented that the Noldorin rebels were being reborn before the Vanyar (including their son), who were innocent of rebellion but died in a war not of their making. Having Glorfindel walking around Vanyamar was, to them, a slap in the face and they used Vorondil's own prejudices to promote their own agendas. Make sense? *grin*

My goodness, nothing like throwing in a ball from left field. This could seriously complicate matters. You already have three reborn in Tirion creating problems because of their emotional youth, and now you are adding three additional ones, even younger emotionally than the Tirion bunch. They will all need babysitters, and who's going to be nominated when there is a wedding to pull off. Oh my goodness. What a tangled mess!

Hi Erulisse. Yes, it's a very fine pickle the Valar have landed Finrod and his family in. We'll see just how everyone handles the influx of recent Reborn with the wedding only days away. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Theres a great image by Jenny Dolfen on the death of Fingon, it brings tears to the eyes when read with the lines about his death. So not the same image here... Fingon the valiant makes one burst out laughing right now... Newborn reborns... Will be interesting to say the least
Author's reply
Hello Smiley. Definitely not the same image of Fingon here. He's pretty much the adolescent as we'll see in subsequent chapters, though there are also hints of the great Elf-lord that he was and will be again. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Wow, I had an idea that a reborn was released, but not that it would be them! I can completely understand Finrod's reaction. It can't be fun to have a potential family conflict looming over the wedding, because I would expect some noise when these people were reborn. Not only because they don't recognize their family, but what about when Fingolfin and Fingon remember being kings? Some people will remember them as kings. And now this comes on top of the other worries. I wouldn't only have taken a step back, I would have felt like running away.
Author's reply
Hi Siiw. There will certainly be a lot of upsets with these three now reborn, as we will see in later chapters. I'm sure Finrod felt right running away right then and there, too. Unfortunately, he really doesn't have the option. We'll see how it all turns out eventually. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Oh boy, won't *this* require some explanation, Atto...
I'm not sure whether this was a good wedding present or not. I suppose it is and it isn't, at the same time. (Not saying what, in case someone reads my review before the chapter). Just saying...that last line nearly killed me, Atarinya. (Not a good thing, as I was in the hospital, briefly, yesterday. (Long story short, I thought some hand sanitizer got in my food when I realized it tasted weird, so I thought I'd poisoned myself and called 911. They took me to the hospital where I found out I'd have to swallow the whole bottle to be poisoned, lol. More likely I'm feeling ick from the flu or something.)
Anyway, I'm glad Sador wasn't so worried about Alassiel. Now what are the ellith up to? Will we find out next Wednesday? And just how did that note get "misplaced", hmm?
Tye-melin, Atto!
Kaylee
P.S. Still trying to think how to review Monday's IDB. Would have yesterday, but...well...wasn't in the best shape to do it. I think I've got a lot to think about with it.
Author's reply
Hi Kaylee.
I'm sure at the moment Finrod isn't sure if it's a good wedding present or a bad one, too. Only time will tell.
I'm glad you weren't suffering from poisoning and I hope whatever you have you will recover from it soon and review IDB when you are feeling up to it. There's no hurry.

This is getting better and better! I'm with Finrod, Why now?!!! The Valars have a very wicked sense of humor. HAve many reborns as possible in a wedding and you will have the perfect recipe for a disaster! it is going to be crazy.
When I read the Silmarillion, many, many years ago, I liked most Fingon. He was my favorite. I liked Finrod too, of course.
Now, all these Kings reborn, a lot of possibilities for Tol Eressëa. Fingolin was a great King as well.
Talking about Tol Eressëa, so the girls went to have a bride shower! My imagination has gone wild....
Lady Anairë will have a great surprise, a husband and two sons.
Earendil is Fingolin's greatgrandson, no? And Glorfindel is linked to them in some way as well. And even if Finrod and Turgon were King, Fingolin and Finrod were their King, a little complicated. And what about Aranfiwe and his brother? Depends how you see it, Fingolin is the King. Well, you will figure something out .
Aracáno? Good that you explained, don't remember him.
Author's reply
Hi Fantasia. The question of who is King in Tirion now will actually be addressed in a later chapter. The answer may surprise you -- or not.
Aracáno doesn't show up in the Silmarillion. He was a late invention of Tolkien's but I liked the idea of him so I've included him into the family tree. He does make a cameo in my Darkening story, but he plays no major role.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Arrgh! I need a family tree here! Finrod seems to have relatives coming out of the wood work! O.K. just checked the Sill' this is Indis first boy and his sons, Aredhel is still in Mandos, yes?
Looks like Earwen will have to find three more beds, at this rate she will have to set up a tent city in the gardens to house everybody!
I hope the Valar intend to 'help' them home or Finrod will arrive to late for the bachalor party that Glorfy and Sador have planned for him, they do have one planned, can't have Finrod showing up for his wedding without a hangover, it just wouldn't be right?!
Has Anaire been asked to the wedding?
I wonder just what Amarie and the ellith are up to on Tol Eressea, wedding clothes perhaps?
Waiting for Wednesday,
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
Yes, a family tree would help, Lynda. LOL! And Aredhel and Turgon are still in Mandos, yes.
As to how they all get back to Tirion in time, that will be revealed in the next chapter. And yes, Anairë will be at the wedding and we will see her reunion with her husband and sons in a subsequent chapter.

Stress, spelt F-I-N-R-O-D, but soon to be spelt A-R-A-F-I-N-W-E, and maybe even F-I-N-G-O-L-F-I-N once the court gets a glimpse of him, heh.
If Fingolfin is sensible he'll bawl and wait for rescue any time someone tries to corner him regarding who exactly is ruling King of the Noldor, but I don't know if you can call anyone who calls out a fallen Valar for a one on one duel, sensible. Brave definitely, but sensible?
How are they all going to get to Tirion in time for the wedding? I can't see two Reborn riding back to the city as hard as the three brothers rode to Lorien.
Oh man, is this wedding going to get interesting! Dishes, smishes, LOL!

so the ellith are having a hen night - the ellyn would definitely not be welcome to that!
And I suppose that by now Finrod is entirely on Glorfindel's side when it comes to surprises. but this is certainly a good surprise, altough it will mean that eärwen will need to update her plans for the wedding - again. And I expect Anairë to be rather upset, when the newly Reborn's reactions to hearing her name is asking, "Who’s Anairë?"
But in general - three more Reborn added to the stew - wheeee! :-D Life is just going to get even more Interesting now! ;-)

By the way there is a china pattern out there, can't remember if it is Lenox, Royal Worchester or Royal Doulton that has a dark green back ground with a very elaborate multicoloured pattern on it, not too bad, in small doses!

I see. Amarië does not want her wedding dress to look like a reused old patchwork quilt so she decided to visit a certain seamstress, which prompted Finrod to follow her, which slightly thwarted Valars plans,
so they dit not take any chance and they have sent a whole contingent of well armed Maiar to stop him, because they want him in Lorien, where they have prepared a big surprise party including his brothers.

Oh, my! Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice said.
Amariel is definitely the future mother-in-law from heckandback. I'm sorry to see Arafinwe getting in a fight with Earwen, but I'm glad he's standing up to protect the Reborn from flashbacking upon seeing that horrid china!
I thought my wedding was complicated with the principals involves being all over the world and having to get everything to my hometown in that last week before the ceremony, but at least none of us felt the need to run away from our parents because of them taking things over.
I'm practically positive that Head Chef Marilla is a certain Maia whom we met at Lady Nienna's in the Elf Interrupted stories. :)
I can understand why Findarato is so upset about his attempt to get to where he thinks to find Amarie being interrupted by Lord Tulkas' Maiar, but I had to laugh at how the Maiar stood down when Glorfindel indicated that he'd be willing to take on half of them and Finrod the other half.
And then being bidden to return to Lorien immediately... well, no wonder our prince is stressing out and reacting more and more negatively to everything--like a much younger Reborn. He's definitely feeling out of control of events and things, and it has always been apparent since his departure from Mandos that being in control is important to him. I'm sure that whatever awaits him in Lorien is for his own good--it's just that I think that there were more diplomatic ways for him to have been told to go there.
I admit that I rather like Linda's idea that the Valar are going to give Findarato a bachelor party... It gave me a great mental image and made me smile.
Well done, meldonya!

Really the Valar are way to high-handed, I certainly can understand Findarato, whatever they (Valar) may say they treat the elves like thralls to do the will of the Valar... And the Valar expect them to be happy with what they decree and when they command something they expect it to be done and need not offer an explanation. It really is very frustrating, one would think they learned not to imposed their will and whims on the elves after Feanaro but no they still insist on doing the same.
About Amarie, I like Findarato think she planed it because she can't stand her mother anymore!!!!! And really who can blame her??? I am sure her wedding gown must be as horrible as Findarato's and she is going to try to get someone else to redo it, hahahahaha. Really Almariel needs to control herself or she is going to stop seeing her daughter's new family for a VERY LONG time, until they feel up to having elflings and even then I think she will be the last to know, hahahaha. now I understand why Amarie decided to dwell in Tirion while awaiting Findarato then live with her parents!!!!
Way to go Arafinwe, you at least will not allow Findarato to be humiliated at his own wedding with the garb Almariel and Earwen wish him to use and that horrible china that promises to have every Reborn attending become SICK!!!! I would not be surprised if he uses another one instead of that horrible monstrosity of a wedding garb.
