Fantastic story. Each chapter just gets better and better. SasseyJ

Ah, explanations at last. And doesn't Legolas make a wonderful knight in shining armour, riding to the rescue? Even if he isn't wearing his armour at the moment. I'd certainly sleep well with him watching over me. Thank you for this chapter. Thank you for resolving the cliff-hangers and clearing up some of the mystery before your extended absence. I wonder, though, if there won't be some more action before Faramir and Co. arrive. Seems strange that Eradan wouldn't have some more guards protecting them at the cave. He's too smart, and too much of a coward, to leave himself exposed without a lot of lackeys to protect him. I hope you have a wonderful trip, and may your writing hand never tire.

Lamiel · 29 March 2004 · Chapter 31: The Goat in Pursuit

Wo ho, so there is an ambush, but our Elf can handle it! And I for one am delighted to see him out of that encumbering armour at last. Not quite as nice as his run in the nude a few chapters back, but I'll take what I can get. ;) Aargh, another cliff-hanger too. I was so happy at Legolas' swing to the attack -- for a moment, when he started toward the cave, I was actually afraid that he'd fall for it! I should have known better. It's quite a trick, to pull off possible Elf capture without reducing the Elf's natural abilities or making him a fool. But you do it beautifully. As always. I knew it was Eradan. I just knew it. He wasn't so good at hiding his biases, after all. But poor Hatchet! I never expected that! Now I'm desperately awaiting what happens next. Which, I suppose, will be a return to the knights and the battle, and a leisurely reunion with Thranduil and Gimli and Co. Aargh! I'd beg to just jump right back with Legolas immediately, but I respect the author's need to set the stage. I just hope it happens quickly, and we see Legolas again soon! And you give me hope for that -- I was terrified that you'd break off with him running off alone, but you were kinder than that. Thank you, and thank you for such an entertaining and suspensful story! Lamiel

fliewatuet · 29 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

Just a quick note to let you that I am neither dead nor have abandoned your story. I am just buried up to the neck in RL-issues. Hopefully, I will emerge from that pile of work sometime within the next week (especially as I have some serious catching up to do on reading The Green Knight). BTW, fliewatuet is neither elvish nor Native American, but one of the main "characters" in a german, early seventies TV series for kids (Robby, Tobby und das Fliewatüt). The Fliewatuet is actually a helicopter-car-ship-hybrid something. But I have always loved the name:)

I hope Kaimelas lives. Dead Elves are too sad. And Legolas...I mean, I *know* he's got to live so he can sail away to Valinor with Gimli, but I'm still scared for him. And Bandy will be so upsest if he doesn't. You handle archaic language really well. It seems completely natural and not at all jarring.

Coriel · 23 March 2004 · Chapter 30: The Battle of Amon Din

Well that was quick! But just when you think all the loose ends are tied off, Legolas goes missing. Hm. The next installment should be another worth waiting for. :) "They were then in full cry, hoping to draw out the scouts of the enemy, caroling a Westron tune of war; Faramir sitting silent upon his destrier’s back heard to his amusement the Elven King humming carelessly along." Loved that bit!

Portia · 22 March 2004 · Chapter 30: The Battle of Amon Din

I discovered your story a short while ago, and I really like it. Your language is so beautiful, and it really does have a feel that's both Tolkienish and medieval, which not many authors can pull off. Of course I like the Legolas-centric nature of the story since Legolas and Gimli are my favorite characters. Your Legolas is so sweet and Gimli is so mother-hennish, and Thranduil is just as cool as I imagine him. And Bandy is a nice OC. I want a hobbit to cook for me now. And of course, Legolas will be ok in the next chapter, right? We can't have Bandy upset!

Lamiel · 22 March 2004 · Chapter 30: The Battle of Amon Din

You mean he hasn't achieved godhood yet? Could have fooled me. But heck, I'm sure it'll be soon. I'll just worship quietly in the meantime. Oh, it is something to see Legolas take command and strategise. And his speech to the troops could have come straight from Tolkien himself. I am concerned about this disappearance, though. Seems that he could handle four knights, considering he has backup, and the way he mowed down that whole company before, single handed . . . but I have a sinking feeling that those knights are leading him into a trap. The Lion is waiting, and there hasn't been NEARLY enough Elf torture in this fic yet. Hard to imagine how they could possibly surprise or overwhelm Legolas and his knights, even if they do have hostages, but I'm not putting anything past you. This story has surprised me a few times already. Anyway, another brilliant chapter, and I eagerly await more. Thank you! Lamiel

*applauds the wonderful Legolas fic* This story rocks! *clears her throat* That is to say, I greatly enjoyed reading your ficticious story about Legolas. *nods and begins talking to herself* Yes, that sounds educated, no need to show my upbringing... Aww, what the peace? You'll figure out what I really type like soon enough. *squeals gleefully and glomps Le Rouret* IlovethisficIlovethisficIlovethisfic!

Elenora · 16 March 2004 · Chapter 29: The Lines are Drawn

Oh my gosh!! What a "vision" that was: Legolas, his head devoid of helmet, leading a whole slew of knights and elves, heading off to battle...*GAH* LOVED IT!! And I'm so enjoying (amongst so much in this story) Bandobras's sweet devotion to Legolas in this story - and Eowyn's, too, for that matter. Faramir, you've gone up a notch in my estimation, allowing your wife to continually call Legolas "her champion" and not begrudging her her never-failing admiration for him. *GAH-GAH* This story is so full of wonderful, breath-taking "pictures" of Legolas, I have to guard myself from hyperventilating each time I read a new chapter...it's great! Okay, how's that for not rehashing the same, old review?? Thought you needed something a "bit different"... Elenora

Saber · 16 March 2004 · Chapter 29: The Lines are Drawn

WOOT!!! GO LEGOLAS!! GO KNIGHTS!!! *whaps Legolas as an afterthought* Elf or not you still have a lot to learn. Now can we finally get to the butt kicking?

Coriel · 15 March 2004 · Chapter 29: The Lines are Drawn

YAY! You must be feeling better now. ;) *Pft* Eloquence running a little low tonight, but again a great chapter. Lamiel said it all first, and I agree. Best of luck with the upcoming battle; I've known those to be sticky parts. ^_^

Lamiel · 15 March 2004 · Chapter 29: The Lines are Drawn

Wahahahahoo! Now THAT is a sight! I mean of course the way that Legolas finally revealed himself to all the knights, and then led them into battle. I of course expected him to lead them, when there was the talk about who was going to do it, but I didn't expect it to go quite that way! I could not ask for a better way for him to be revealed -- it wouldn't have worked after he won the tournament, but this is just perfect. And I like the image of him riding at the head of the column of knights with his hair streaming behind him. Ah, I like that very much. He's been wearing far too much armour for far too long. Bandobras' comment after they ride off, "I can't believe he left like that without a proper breakfast" -- perfect! Perfect, perfect! Just the right touch of poignancy and humor. Oh, this is WONDERFUL! I'm enjoying every moment of it. Lamiel

Eledhwen · 12 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

Oh, it's so refreshing to read a nice Thranduil, with a living Queen! So many stories feature evil!Thranduil, terror of Legolas's life after the Queen died in childbirth. This story's progressing fabulously since I left my last review months ago. Wonderful stuff.

Elenora · 9 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

You are probably getting tired of hearing this, but I am REALLY enjoying this story!! I think I'm running out of ways to tell you how good and unique this story is, but I'll see if I can come up with some new ways to convey that, since I think I'll be telling you this until the end of this story! I'm also beginning to realize how difficult a story this must be to write, so that definitely "ups" my appreciation level every time I read a new chapter and I'm hit again with the difficult and unique language (which while I know must be difficult to write, is a true pleasure to read!), the terminology, and even the involved plot! To put it succinctly, I am RIVETED and eagerly anticipate each new chapter. Thanks so much for a wonderful, wonderful read, and rest assured, I've told everyone I know that they absolutely HAVE TO read this story!! Elenora

Sarcastic Elf · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

Well, I've been faithfully following this fine work of fiction you have graced us with and (finally) decided to review. This is a wonderful story! The descriptions are so vivid and I absolutely love your writing style. I first found your story by looking for Thranduil fics and while the wait for his appearance was long it was a very enjoyable wait. Brandy is one of the most lovable OCs I've come across. He's absolutely adorable! I also like your characterization of the canon characters. I am very much looking forward to the next chapter of your fic. Cheers! ^_^

Saber · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! *tackle glomps Thrandy* FINALLY!!!!! *blissful sigh* Your visuals are stunning Le Rouret!! I could picture Thranduil and his wife, decked out in battle armor and ready for a fight, perfectly! *drools* Another for the 'Anti Evil Thrandiul' team!!!

Lamiel · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

Setting the stage, and oh I am looking forward to the battle to come. Things are happening fast now, and it looks like the real lion is nearly revealed. And I knew that Belecthor didn't do it. Now I wonder if Legolas' mother is Sindar or Silvan? Rather an unusual gift to have for either race -- seems more the thing that Tolkien kept for the Noldor. Durn Noldor. I like the Sindar better anyway. Wonderful bit at the end, when Thranduil says that he believes that Legolas will rule as well as he does. Heh, what a lovely antidote to all those Evil!Thranduil fics. Very welcome. Now on to battle!

Coriel · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

Again, very nice. But my absolute favorite line would have to be that which so masterfully shows a brighter side of Thranduil's many-faceted personality, which, of his manifold qualities, is oft overlooked in many lesser portrayals. :) "But he is become so formal!" exclaimed Thranduil, looking at Bandobras. "Legolas, you have ruined him; where is the Hobbit-child who scrambled upon our laps and made off with our scepters? All I see here is an esquire full-grown." Hahaha! (*looks down*) Hey-ya, Amaniel. ;)

Amaniel · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

I am very pleased with the way you portrayed the Elven King. You did him the justice he deserved! Thank you for your wonderful story. I am looking forward to the rest of it.

ming eledhwen · 8 March 2004 · Chapter 28: The Elvenking

nice one! ive been reading this for ages and so far it hasn't disappointed at all :) all your descriptions of things and the different relationships make this a very real and absorbing read, and it sounds very plausible too. like what you've done with Bandobras, he's so cute! ;) keep it coming!

Saber · 2 March 2004 · Chapter 27: Galas of Eryn Lasgalen

You sure know how to up the tension!! *bites nails*

Coriel · 1 March 2004 · Chapter 27: Galas of Eryn Lasgalen

Good, good, good. ;) Really, what else can I say? I already like Galas. What's his name supposed to mean: "Bright Leaf"? He sounds very much like my Calenmir! I can easily see Thranduil ready to take sword in hand again. This should earn the Elves some healthy respect in the south if nothing else does. Again, a very enjoyable read, and may your plot bunny flourish. ^_^

Lamiel · 1 March 2004 · Chapter 27: Galas of Eryn Lasgalen

Oh ho! So the tournament may go on longer, but action is heating up in any case. I love Thranduil's message, it's been three years since he's killed a foe and he's getting twitchy. Well, that was the general idea anyway. I think I'd be even more out of place than Galas when it comes to courtly speech. And I note that the ever suspicious advisors are absent once again. Hmm. Now on to battle! I'm enjoying this so much! Lamiel P.S. The description in the opening, of the clouds stretched over the sky, is beautiful. Very well done.

Elenora · 27 February 2004 · Chapter 25: The Healer's Tent

Le Rouret, I've had your story downloaded (and been downloading updated chapters as they appear) for a quite a while now, but hadn't had the opportunity to read your story until just recently. To say that I thought it was "good" would be a gross understatement...I was absolutely riveted to the story and could scarcely tear myself away from it!! I have found this to be one of the most unusual, unique LotR fanfic story that I've ever come across and have been e-mailing people madly and practically demanding that they read your story, because it is so unique, original, and so well written. Being an "Ivanhoe" fan, your general flavor of "Ivanhoe" encompassing the story was what originally drew me to it, but this is not LotR characters surplanted in the "Ivanhoe" plot...and I've been sure to tell everyone I've encouraged to read your story, not to think that. You've kept true to the Tolkien world while giving our beloved characters (Legolas, in particular, bless you!)a wonderful milieu in which to operate. In particular, you've had some absolutely delightful scenes dealing with Legolas...several with him and his hobbit esquire have been very sweet, and the forest scene with Legolas running naked through the trees....well, needless-to-say, it left me "breathless"!! (While I know this story is "G"-rated, still, this was a lovely, evocative scene and you're leaving so much to the imagination was a nice, subtly erotic touch...whether you meant it to be or not! Anyway, I'm so very glad I finally sat down and started reading this story, because I truly think it is one of the very best I've ever read. I'm anxiously awaiting the next chapter and I sincerely hope this will not be your only LotR story (and I hope the next one features Legolas, too!!). Elenora
