"found himself adrift in his agony' You are just killing me with your writing - and not doing Boromir any good either. But excellent writing! I just wanted to weep at how Boromir felt Frodo anchored him. Beautiful. *heavy sigh* I do so hope this isn't over with. Didn't check the status before reading this chapter four. I know I'm greedy - what can I say? You're writing draws greed from me. *g*

Author's reply

No, this is not over yet by a long shot. Since you don't normally read me, you don't know how much I love angst and all that. :) Stay tuned! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Agape4Gondor · 1 October 2012 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

My heart is too full for words. Bravo!

Author's reply

*bows in appreciation* I'm so glad you are enjoying this!! *hugs* Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Agape4Gondor · 1 October 2012 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

'Remembering the madness.' Dear Frodo. I am truly surprised that he agreed to write 'that' again. To have to endure each of the terrors that he had been subjected to is almost beyond comprehension. And to do it alone. I love the remembrance of Sam. Bless his heart. Faithful and true to the very end. It must have been such a joy-filled moment when Sam finally steps off that boat and meets his beloved Frodo. *weeps* Gandalf had warned dear Frodo of becoming a wraith. To think that the feelings he was going through were wraith-like is intolerable. And to feel like that in Valinor, of all places. He desperately needs Este by his side. Ad for the groans -- hooray! Hooray! Boromir lives. But to wake thinking that all was lost. I'm so glad Frodo was with him. Can't wait for the next chapter.

I agreed at first that Bilbo's idea that Frodo essentially write the Red Book over again was a rather thing to ask for the same reason. I just read in a book about PTSD (reading for research purposes for this story and others - I love research!) that writing about what was so traumatic and writing about it repeatedly is actually part of healing. During the moment the horror is happening, your brain can't process it correctly and put the memories in neat little pieces like a normal experience would be processed. But each time you write of it, you can remember and process a little bit more of it and the horror/fear/terror of it will lose its grip over you. Frodo hasn't reached that point yet but eventually, hopefully, he will. What is more interesting is that I wrote of this before I read about its usefulness in the PTSD book. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Yes, we all need Someone and something to keep us grounded. I am glad that Boromir accepts Frodo in spite of the guilt he feels.

Author's reply

Good as always to hear from you, my dear! These two will be good for each other. Namarie, God bless, Antane *hugs* :)

Agape4Gondor · 29 September 2012 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Reading this chapter again stirs me as it did the first time. I marvel at the beauty and the profundity of feeling you share. Hands were an important part of the first movie. So much so that I wrote a small series of drabbles about Boromir and hands. You have proclaimed the touch of a hand with depth and beauty. Ah. I so love this chapter.

Author's reply

You honor me - so glad you are enjoying! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Agape4Gondor · 29 September 2012 · Chapter 0: Prologue

Oh my goodness gracious. As I read the summary, I thought it looked familiar. I am so happy to see this. I can't wait to follow along. Bless you! Dearest Aragorn. He is such a neat character. No wonder Arwen fell for him. Now to turn the page...

Author's reply

I happy right back that you found you way here! Hope you enjoy! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 29 September 2012 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four

There could be no more blessed awakening! And he has gentle souls caring for him, and helping with his healing. So gentle!

Author's reply

Le hannon! Now the hard work will begin to recover for both of them. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

shirebound · 29 September 2012 · Chapter 4: Chapter Four

What a gentle and tender chapter. I suspect that Frodo will get so much out of helping to care for someone, as opposed to usually being the one being cared for.

Author's reply

Le hannon - so glad you enjoyed! I believe you are right - he needs something to distract him from his own pain and you are well familiar with how great hobbits are with giving TLC. :) And Boromir will get a lot out of helping Frodo. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

curiouswombat · 24 September 2012 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

What a powerful description of the moments leading to death - and no wonder Frodo's presence at first would make Boromir think the Ringbearer dead and all failed.

Author's reply

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! I liked writing that part. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

nancylea57 · 23 September 2012 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

well now frodo has a full time job: teaching boromir to live and let go of the guilt. what a spot rock and a hard spot these two will be. waiting........

Author's reply

And Boromir going to have the same job, helping Frodo heal from his PTSD and all that. These two are going to be very good for each other. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

shirebound · 22 September 2012 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

This is so wonderful. Hopefully Boromir and Frodo will be able to allow one another to fully heal, inside and out.

Author's reply

Le hannon, my dear! So glad you enjoyed. Fully healing is the plan. We'll see how it all plays out. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 22 September 2012 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Your writing has so matured, Antane. This is a very powerful chapter, and I rejoice to read it. Yes, he's finding joy and life again, sent back to learn peace and to find healing as much as Frodo ere they both leave the Bounds of Arda once more.

Author's reply

Thank you so much, my dear Larner! *hugs* I am that glad that you enjoyed. I enjoyed writing about Boromir. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

nancylea57 · 16 September 2012 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

so glad you dropped me the note that you were continuing this story. i went back and re-read that version after reading this one; they are both worth commenting on. i like how you have filled out frodo's part so that he is enjoying what he can and writing to improve what he remembers. i don't read works in progress as a rule but if you update regularly i'll make an effort to track your efforts. good luck!

Author's reply

Thanks, nancylea! I plan on updating every Saturday. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

curiouswombat · 16 September 2012 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

I remember that first chapter; the idea of Boromir, his body uncorrupted, appearing on the Western Shore - and I am fascinated at this continuation. I am looking forward to the future chapters with interest.

Author's reply

Thanks! I'm hope to meet your expectations! :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 16 September 2012 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Now, that realization would have been a supreme shock! So glad his memories of Sam continue to sustain him.

Author's reply

Yeah, that groan kinda freaked him out but as we will see in a happy way. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

harrowcat · 16 September 2012 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

By Boromir's side would be a good place to dwell on difficult memories. You do write angst so gently and well. Now Boromir groans...... can't wait!

Author's reply

Another review, my dear, you are too kind! :) It's lovely to write a cliff-hanger again. Couldn't resist ending with one here. :) :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

shirebound · 15 September 2012 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Oh my goodness! I wasn't expecting that. What a moving and emotional chapter. He needed to see the peacefulness of the man before remembering the madness makes so much sense for Frodo.

Author's reply

Thank you, my dear - glad you enjoyed! :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

harrowcat · 9 September 2012 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

This is a great start to what I know is going to be a story worth treasuring. Looking forward to updates already.

Author's reply

My dear harrowcat, what a joy to have a review from you!! *does Precious dance* I hope to live up to everyone's expectations. Hantanyel for your kind words! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 8 September 2012 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

A good thing that Ulmo saw to it that this small boat managed to come here, and Frodo found in its company to lay aside, bit by bit, his own fears and griefs.

Author's reply

Ulmo certainly knew what he was doing in allowing Boromir to come here for the same reason Frodo and Bilbo did. Boromir is going to find another 'little brother' and he and Frodo are going to be very good for each other. In some ways I know how this unique and beautiful love story is going to develop because of the plot bunnies I've already had and in others, I know it's going to surprise me and I look forward to that! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 8 September 2012 · Chapter 0: Prologue

It will be a pleasure to see this one expanded in such a manner. And I grieve with Aragorn for Frodo's pain.

Author's reply

Hantanyel, my dear Larner! I started getting plot bunnies right away but had to wait until now to take care of them. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

shirebound · 8 September 2012 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

“Till he came, and then you with more of our kindred, we did not have any faces to put with the reports that came to us.” What an interesting point. This is such a creative story.

Author's reply

Thank you so much, my dear! I'm anxious to see how it's all going to play out - it will be fun to play in this sandbox. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Queen Galadriel · 17 September 2011 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

I am going to catch up. Slowly, probably, but I will, and I hope to get to your e-mail tomorrow! :) This title immediately caught my eye, because I read this book years ago and loved it. I must say, you did a better job at writing a story to suit the title than Lewis himself. This is my favorite: Sometimes he thought he came to this silent place to be alone, to be away, to be with the one person whose forever stilled lips could not praise him. Here was one who had fallen to the lure of the Ring as he had, someone who would understand his torment, perhaps the only one who truly could. Other times he came just to be with another from Middle-earth, a reminder of home, a way he could pretend for a little while that he was not unimaginably far away but close enough to touch someone who had walked some of the same paths he had. Of course, he had Bilbo for that too, but sometimes, the very familiarity of his uncle reminded him more of what he had lost than the joy of their reunion. Boromir did not pierce him sharply with either of those and it was by the man’s side Frodo found a deeper peace than he found anywhere else. That passage represents one of the most realistic and in-character ranges of emotion I've ever seen attributed to Frodo in fanfiction. Excellent, excellent job, my dear!

Author's reply

Le hannon, ammelda! So glad to hear from you. I am beginning to fret you hadn't gotten my email but I know you've been busy. Glad you enjoyed! Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Piptane :) *hugs*

Agape4Gondor · 17 September 2011 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

What a tremendous tale. Great imagination. Dearest Frodo at his best and dearest Boromir at his quietest. LOL Really and outstanding tale. PS - you do know I'm hoping for a second chapter.... or an epilogue where a certain Man recovers..... :)

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I hadn't been planned a sequel, but since you asked you nicely... You can't recover from death, but what if Aragorn just thinks Boromir died and the signs of life that Frodo fancies he sees are not fancies after all. Hmmm.... :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
