Fantasia · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 63: The Morning After the Night Before

I'm glad that they are making amends. It will be OK. Hopefully, Alex will be well...Oh, I forgot, POOR ALEX!

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. Now that both sides have tested the other, hopefully they will be friends. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Larner · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 63: The Morning After the Night Before

Nothing like immersion to learn a new civilization and its customs. Wonder what they'll think of football? Heh! Glad Finrod and his harp were there this morning.

Author's reply

Very true, Larner. We'll see what they think of football in the next chapter and Finrod never goes anywhere without his harp. *grin* Thanks for taking the time to coment. I greatly appreciate it.

Agape4Gondor · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 63: The Morning After the Night Before

What a powerful chapter in its muted horror. I have huge fears for all of them - more so than before. I truly like Alex and Artemus and hope he can be turned from the darkness inside. Phew! I would hate to see the Elves being eaten by what I think might be a Balrog in Watcher in the Water disguise!

Author's reply

Hi Agape. I'm glad you found this a powerful chapter. I'm sure the Elves will do their best to help Alex and Artemus integrate and turn from the darkness. We'll see how that goes as the story progresses. And yeah, it was a pretty gruesome nightmare. Thanks for leaving a review. It's always appreciated.

galathil · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 63: The Morning After the Night Before

Hi Fiondil,I feel for the three elves,as I also got blotto one night.Never again that's for sure.As for Alex's dream, why do I get the feeling that the Valar had something to do with it. Things are definitely starting to hot up.Can't wait to see where this story goes. Can't wait for the next chapter, something tells me that there is more to Alex and Derek's relationship than meets the eye.LOL Galathil.

Author's reply

Hi galathil. Alex and Derek's relationship is simply that of very good friends and nothing more, though with them both having a background in intelligence work, it is obvious why they were thrown together. I suspect the Valar are hoping the two of them will be an asset to Elf Academy in that regard. I'm glad you're looking forward to the rest of the story, for there's plenty more to come. Thanks for reviewing. I greatly appreciate it.

UTfrog · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 63: The Morning After the Night Before

Not nearly enough suffering for the three amigos, but a realistic truce has been set. I hope they have a great time watching football. Poor Alex! I so hope he can be helped.

Author's reply

Hi UTfrog. Oh well, I'm sure they wouldn't agree with you there *grin* but at least there is a truce between them. We'll see how things go with them and Alex and Derek. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Sunny · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 63: The Morning After the Night Before

Not a restful night for Alex since Artemus was so rudely woken from his nap last night. I was somewhat worried that there would be a repeat of what happened in chapter 19, when he woke up held down by 4 Elves, in the middle of a big mess. I'm certain that at least a couple of Maiar were keeping a very close eye on the situation - just in case. Heh. Apparently Findalaurë feels that all the Dwarves in Nogrod, Belegost _and_ Moria are inside his skull, hammering lustily away. And his pals weren't any better - but the evil brew Alex concocted seems to have helped. Hopefully Nielluin isn't too angry with Alex after uncle Finrod had a talk with her. I doubt she is entirely happy with him, but it would be much safer for everybody if she doesn't go out of her way to find offense with everything Alex says and does - and conversely doesn't go out of her way to offend him - which I am sure she would be perfectly capable of doing. :-P So the boys are off to watch football. hopefully they won't get into too much trouble doing that. ;-)

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. No, not a restful night at all for Alex, but at least the Elves were able to bring him around and help him. I think spending the afternoon with the guys watching football is just what he needs, something very normal and mortalish, if you understand me. And I think Findalaurë and his gwedyr will enjoy it as well. As for Nielluin, I think she's smart enough to know when to back off and stay out of sight. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

harrowcat · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 61: The Elven Tour Guide at the Blue Petrel

Fun, fun and funnier! Sensible advice about drinking was initially given but once the drinking game was mentioned the results were inveitable.

Author's reply

Very true. I'm glad you found this chapter funny. It was a lot of fun writing it. Thanks for your comment. It's greatly appreciated.

harrowcat · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 60: ‘And this is my Cousin Larry....’

Oops! Methinks a little more thinking about background story would have helped and the bending of a certain stiff neck would help too.

Author's reply

Right on both accounts, harrowcat. They really should have agreed on their backstory for these three before foisting them on the other students at the Academy. They (the students) are dummies and some will know that these three aren't Mortals, being aware already of the existence of Elves. Thanks for taking the time to review. It's always appreciated.

harrowcat · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 59: Sneaking into Wiseman

It should be the trees saying 'welcome to Alaska'. And another daughter of Celeborn and Galadriel's what a great surprise. Smart and sensible. Quite a contrast to her male peers!

Author's reply

LOL! I can just see that, too. And Nielluin is her mother's daughter as we will see. She's not as smart as she seems here, believe me, and she has her own learning curve to tackle, but certainly she's nobody's fool, not even the Valar's. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

harrowcat · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 58: Trial of the Three Amigos

Childishness is not alway related to age! An apt punishment for the three Amegos and a clever tale to link with them. Having experienced a mild form I'm with Alex over the bronchitis. It might be the last thing he would suffer with!

Author's reply

That's certainly true, harrowcat. Some people never grow up in the right way (being childlike rather than being childish - two completely different states of being). We'll see if the punishment helps these three get over themselves. Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

harrowcat · 24 August 2012 · Chapter 57: A Walk in the Woods

Summer hampers my Internet access been reading but not able to comment! Dying to catch up...... Poor Alex and Derek. With Alex being called son by Amroth he is, effectively, of the same generation as the younger Elves. They remind me of two groups of kids meeting for the first time in the playground. I am sure that there will be more manoeuvres before friendship happens.

Author's reply

Hi harrowcat. Well, summer's nearly over so I'm glad you're able to catch up with this story. I think you are right about the two groups and there will be a lot of jockying before they settle down and be friends, as we will see. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Larner · 21 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

Oh, yes, I'd say that the lessons ought to have been well learned at this point. Nicely done!

Author's reply

Thanks, Larner. I'm glad you liked this. Yes, many lessons have been learned on all sides at this point. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate it very much.

bookworm · 21 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

Ah, male bonding at its best (or is that worst?). Alcohol is often the great leveller. And lol Glorfindel, if you compile a toxic drink list, what do you THINK people are going to do with it? Especially COLLEGE people, under stress, with too much free time XD And hey, the three amigos got further than anyone else, I'd say that's an accomplishment. And oh look, I feel less murderous towards Findalaure now. I am still inclined to point and laugh at his hangover though.

Author's reply

Hi bookworm. Alcohol is often the great leveller. You tend not to lord it over others when you remember that they've seen you drunk. *grin* And it was a great accomplishment for them to get as far as they did. If Findalaurë hadn't started singing and just drunk the drink, everything would've been fine. Oh well.... And I'm sure a lot of readers are sniggering over Findalaurë's hangover (as well as those of his gwedyr), though I hope not too loudly. *grin* Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's much appreciated.

Agape4Gondor · 21 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

I'm glad the three amigos are ok, as I thought they would be. I was surprised with Alex's reaction. I didn't think Finrod and Glorfindel were that off base. But who am I. There are three little things that niggle at me as I read the last few chapters. Seems to me that 'someone' is interfering. I have the strong inclination to think it might be Namo. I think everyone could use a really good night's sleep right about now. Great chapter, as always.

Author's reply

Hi Agape. Well the three amigos are very hung over but they'll survive. Finrod and Glorfindel were acting like parents (which Finrod is) reprimanding the kiddies, but none of them are kiddies anymore and that's what Alex resented. At any rate, they all apologized in the end and that's all that matters. I'm not sure if Námo is interfering or not. I'm sure he and the other Valar are keeping a close eye on things, as we will see. And they could all use a good night's sleep or actually several good night's sleep right about now. *grin* Thanks for the review. I greatly appreciate it.

Agape4Gondor · 21 August 2012 · Chapter 61: The Elven Tour Guide at the Blue Petrel

This was wicked. It's a good thing the three are Elves, else the local hospital would have their hands full. Not a really good choice for introducing the Elves to human culture. I loved the names of the drinks. You must have snorted a few times in satisfaction! Great chapter. I'll leave the reprimands to Finrod and Glorfindel.

Author's reply

Hi Agape. This is wicked and I had a blast writing this. Glad you liked the name of the drinks. Ellie certainly has a great imagination. I would never have been able to come up with them myself. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

Agape4Gondor · 21 August 2012 · Chapter 60: ‘And this is my Cousin Larry....’

It's going to be a long week! I too am concerned about Farrell. This tale has been such a delight. I do so hope you're enjoying writing it!

Author's reply

Hi Agape. Yeah, it's going to be a long week or two for all of them. *grin* And I'm enjoying wrigint this as much as everyone is enjoying reading it. Thanks for reviewing. It's always appreciated.

Lyana · 20 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

Wow - that crew of students sure got an eyeful - love to be a fly on the wall in some of those dorm rooms. King of Nargothrond indeed! The reaction of the establishment's staff at the end was priceless. :-) Hopefully, many lessons learned, all the way around, and maybe Nell has learned to step a little more carefully as well. Adjusting expectations to conform with reality is always a good thing. And Ratty... grrrrrr...

Author's reply

Hi Lyana. Yes, the entire bar got an eyeful and an earful. We'll see how well everyone has learned their lessons, including Nell in the coming chapters. As for Ratty.... he'll turn up eventually, too. Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

Sunny · 20 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

I see that the poor, sheltered baby of Finrod's family is about to discover the cruel, hard reality of hangovers. And so are his friends. Actually, I think they may have had hangovers before, but there are hangovers, and then there are HANGOVERS! I think you need to get used to me being snarky about the three amigos until they get off their lordly high horses and learn a bit of sense. Fair warning, Fiondil! But hopefully the pain of the hangovers will able to help them start seeing sense. It makes sense that the Wiseman Elves have too much sense to do the "Elven Tour Guide" challenge, even if they did come up with the drinks. I rather like the description of Amroth's contribution. I hope Nielluin doesn't get in a snit because of the way Alex manhandled her. Alex is a dangerous guy, and the Artemus part of his self is definitely not a nice guy, and considering the situation in Wiseman, with Farrell sneaking around in the bushes, she had better get used to not being treated like a princess all the time (which is probably what she is used to.) (And is she _does_ get snippy, _I_ will probably get snarky!) I see that the Maiar are still on the job, sending the warning to Glorfindel.

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. You can be as snarky as you want towards the three amigos, for they richly deserve it. LOL! I'm glad you liked the description of Amroth's contribution. That will come up in a later chapter as well. As for Nielluin, we'll have to see. She's obviously her mother's daughter as Finrod can and does testify. She has her own problems which will be addressed in a later chapter as well. Yes, it was obviously one of the Maiar who "called" Glorfindel, alerting him to trouble. Good thing, too, or who knows what would have happened otherwise. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's greatly appreciated.

Fantasia · 20 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

What a mess. Everybody there need to back up and learn a little bit about the other ones. And the Mortals are right, the elves need to learn about the new world and play with the new rules, it is not their world anymore and no one is perfect, not even the Valars. At the end, I agree with the bar workers, it was fun

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. It is indeed a mess and you are right that everyone has to step back and take a deep breath and realize that what used to be (or what they thought used to be) and what is now are not one and the same thing anymore and the Elves have to learn the rules that govern the modern human world. I'm glad you found the chapter fun. Thanks for letting me know. I reall appreciate it.

6336 · 20 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

Well that ended with no more bloodshed, other than Larry's nose! Poor Nielluin, looks as if Artemus managed to sneak out of his cage while Alex was busy, need to hunt him down and get a bigger lock for it! Unfortunately it will be all over Wiseman that there is a bunch of new Elves in town which will not please a few people, including Ratty, if he ever sticks his nose out of the hole he has crawled into and finds out, I still would like to know just what he is up to and just what is going on back east in Washington!? Glorfindal and Finrod seem to have everything under control, at the moment, now to get the Three Amigos home and tucked up in bed with buckets to hand, I wonder if all the Elven Healers have a hangover cure and if they will offer it to them or let them suffer as punishment for being dumb enough to take the Elf Guide! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Yeah, the cat is out of the bag, so to speak. There may or not be ramifications. We'll have to see and we'll catch up with Ratty soon enough. He's not out of the picture just yet. We'll see in the next chapter how the three amigos, as well as Alex and Derek, fare on the morning after the night before. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it immensely.

Whispy · 20 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

Ah, so Artemus is back. We haven't seen in him in so long I kind of forgot that that part of Alex was still a threat. And threatening Nielluin is just not OK. I can only imagine how pissed Galadriel would be if she were this. I wonder how much Vardamir will be able to help Alex... I'm also very glad to see that everybody seems to want to move forward after this. Whispy PS: Upon thinking about it, the worst thing I've done in college is probably not eating ice-cream before dinner, but convincing my freshman year roommate to try and fit herself into a suitcase, and upon discovering she could indeed fit in said suitcase, zipping her inside (with her permission) and wheeling her down the hall to show everybody else. Granted, she's a very tiny person and it was a very large suitcase, but it was still impressive. :P

Author's reply

Hi Whispy. No, what Alex did in threatening Nielluin was not okay. Hopefully Ron and Varadmir together will be able to help him out. I'm very glad you got your roomie's permission to do all that to her. LOL! That must have been something to see. Thanks for commenting. It's greatly appreciated.

Ellie · 20 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

I remember this chapter well and the drinks with the delightful names. LOL! Better be careful or some creative soul at DragonCon or ComicCon will create these very drinks. LOL! Alex and Derek got their revenge and then some. What a mess!

Author's reply

Hi Ellie. Well, if some creative soul does, I hope they're not too poisonous. *grin* What a mess, indeed. Thanks again for helping me with the drink names. That was a lot of fun.

UTfrog · 20 August 2012 · Chapter 62: Explanations and Apologies

I still want to hear about the well deserved hangovers! Any chance of gradually introducing the new Elves has certainly been lost. Aranya is a word to be recognized by many. Glad Alex and Derek finally had had enough. Looking forward to the aftermath and damage control.

Author's reply

Hi UTfrog. We'll hear about the hangovers in the next chapter, promise. We needed to continue with the bar scene and wrap that up first. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Calenlassiel · 19 August 2012 · Chapter 61: The Elven Tour Guide at the Blue Petrel

Enough of this male justice. I think it is time for a woman to beat some sense into the children. I am thinking Varda could make them clean out every barn in wiseman or something equally unpleasant.. Great chapter :)

Author's reply

Hi Calenlassiel. Having one of the Valier dole out punishment sounds like a good idea. Not that it will ever happen and Finrod will is well known for his creative punishments, but I think the three amigos will be punished enough with hangovers. As for Alex and Derek and the others students, we'll have to see what happens to them. Glad you liked the chapter. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

calenlassiel · 19 August 2012 · Chapter 59: Sneaking into Wiseman

Nielluin is my new hero... I just love here spirit and I can't wait to see what kind of trouble she is going to get into...

Author's reply

Hi Calenlassiel. I think a lot of people are enjoying Nielluin. We'll see what (if any trouble) she gets into soon enough. Thanks for reviewing. It's appreciated.
