Kaylee Arafinwiel · 5 June 2012 · Chapter 32: Snowed-In

Atya, Sincerest apologies. *hugs* I was pretty sick myself (not Norovirus, so I wasn't as bad as Alex, but still) and then Emma was worse. Once she was well, I had her departing for New Zealand to worry about. Now all I'm suffering from is heartbreak - I miss her so very much!! :( But catching up on reviews will comfort me at least somewhat, I'm sure. :) Oh, Alex, Alex Alex! Ruining Amroth and Nimrodel's honeymoon like that, how could you! *snort* Kidding, kidding. *backs away from the "intelligence officer" with the gun* Of course I know what happens to Alex, at least during the next few chapters up to yesterday's, but still. *hides behind Atto* :P That Norovirus sounds like a nasty thing to be going around, especially in Alaska of all places. I hope it won't come back. :( Ick. But as ever, your writing skills have me in awe of you. Have you ever had to be stuck in a place with Norovirus going around? Tye-melin, Atto! Kaylee

Author's reply

Hi Kaylee. Sorry to hear you and Emma were so sick but I'm glad you're both recovered. I've never been stuck in a place with the Norovirsu going around, though when I was in Germany it was a big threat, but thankfully I never came down with it. Anyway, the honeymoon was bound to come to an end sooner or later, and Alex certainly can't be blamed for that, now can he? *grin* Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it. Tye-melin.

Larner · 5 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

So--what's going on at the sheriff's office? At least Derek is of the type intended to work with the Elves, I think. I've wondered at times if he was one of the three non-identified agents, but if he is I suspect he is more likely to ally himself with Alex rather than Farrell. Oh, but Farrell is definitely a baddie, and I still can't wait to find out who has been inspiring him. Some dark Maia appears about ready to surface, I suspect.

Author's reply

We'll learn soon enough what's going on at the sheriff's office, Larner. And no, Derek isn't one of the three unidentified agents, but he is definitely destined to ally with the Elves. Farrell is a baddie, and as to who might be inspiring him, that remains to be seen. Thanks for taking the time to comment, Larner. I appreciate it very much.

Agape4Gondor · 5 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

I'm sorry. I really have to laugh at Glorfindel. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. I remember a certain elf ranting and railing against the Valar for the same behavior!

Author's reply

How soon they forget, huh, Apage? LOL! Glorfindel really is messed up right now and isn't thinking straight. We'll see what happens when Alex finally has had enough of Glorfindel's (and the other Elves') arrogance. Thanks for reveiwing. It's greatly appreciated.

demeter d · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

I am glad to hear that you are slowly getting back to a normal schedule. Do be careful! The last few chapters I have begun to wonder if this whole affair is somehow personal for our Mr. Farrell. In fact, I am wondering if he is somehow connected to the agency head who had blackmailed "Ambrose" into service...as, was the man perhaps his father, or grandfather, uncle, etc. Or, perhaps he was Farrell's own mentor-trainer, as Amroth was to Alex. I suppose Farrell does realize how long Amroth served in the Agency, and how old the man ought to look by now. I wonder just what Farrell either suspects, or has found evidence for, about both "Ambrose's" true nature, and just what happened to their one-time Agency Head?" You do know, I check my inbox eeeaaaaaarrrrly every Monday and Friday?

Author's reply

Hello demeter d. Yes, I'm finally getting back to a normal or near normal schedule, but I'm not pushing it. You may be correct about Farrell having a personal grudge against Amroth/Ambrose. We'll have to see how that plays out as the story progresses. He's obviously not playing by the rules, as Alex insists, and there will, of course, be consequences because of that. Anyway, I'm sure a lot of my readers check their inbox early every Monday and Friday, so you are definitely in good company. *grin* Thanks for taking the time to read and leave a review. I very much appreciate it.

Sunny · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

Tee-hee. "And you thought I was just another pretty face, didn’t you?" I have decided that I really, _really_ like Derek. Smart, with hidden depths, _and_ evidently damn near unflappable. It wouldn't surprise me if the Elves are more than a bit disappointed at the way Derek has taken the Big Revelation without batting an eyelid. They have probably become used to the spectacle of jaws hitting the floor when they tell people that yes, there really are such things as Elves. Perhaps they'll find some excuse to call in a Maia or two just to get a reaction out of him? ;-) I don't think Glorfindel and the other Elven warriors truly realize how high-handed they are here - it is probably the elven Superiority complex rearing its ugly head. They had better learn that if they want to forge a true partnership, they _can't_ treat their putative partners like children.

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. Derek is something, isn't he? And he does have hidden depths. We've barely begun to see him as he really is. The Elves are probably feeling a little deflated from Derek's very laid-back response to the Big Revelation. And you're right that the Elves don't really realize how high handed they are acting at this point. We'll see how that attittude causes some further friction between them and Alex later on. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate if greatly.

Soledad · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

I wonder if Glorfindel realizes he's treating Mortals the same way the Valar and Maiar used to read him - and if he remembers how much he used to hate that?! It would be high time for him to come down from his epaulettes, or he could turn Alex away from them and their case a lot more easily than the Valar had persuaded him to join up. Derek is great - still assuming that he's really a good guy, which I very much hope. "Not just another pretty face", indeed! The sheriff's office not answering is an ominous sign, I'm afraid. Evil cliffie is evil!

Author's reply

Hi Soledad. I don't think Glorfindel does realize what he's doing. He's too wound up, too sleep deprived, too pissed off and too emotionally drained to know what he's doing or why. And his attitude will cause some trouble between him and Alex and Derek later on as we will see. And no, Derek is definitely not just another pretty face. LOL! We'll find out what's happened at the sheriff's office in the next chapter. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. You know how much I appreciate it.

Lyana · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

Uh oh... Glorfindel's very much off his game, and the sheriff being incommunicado doesn't sound so good either! Granted, Glorif's way out of practice for working with mortals (how many tens of thousands of years have passed since he fought alongside Aragorn?!?), but "pride goes before a fall" as the saying goes. Love how you've written Derek! He's becoming my favorite character, and his lack of surprise very much makes sense with his background as an intelligence analyst. He and Alex will certainly have some interesting conversations!

Author's reply

Hi Lyana. Yes, Glorfindel is definitely off his game big time. I'm glad Derek is becoming a favorite character. I like him a lot, too. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Fantasia · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

I love Derek! what a smart young man. His comments about Sindarin language were priceless. I know that Glorfindel is under a lot of stress and not in his best moments, but he has a very short memory for his time fighting along with mortals, a little more respect, please. I will say Poor Alex, only because Derek bested him in his reaction after finding out about Elves and figuring out that something wasn't right.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. I thought his comment about Sindarin was pretty funny, too, and very true. *grin* Glorfindel does need a reminder about how things must be between Elves and Mortals now that they are fighting together (or will be eventually) and that will come soon enough. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

Idril Celebrindal · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

Fiondil, I have liked Derek from the start so I'm glad he's been brought in finally!!! I hope my trust isn't misplaced with Derek.....LOL I like the banter between Alex and Derek and that Elrohir concurs! Well done, waiting patiently for the next chapter! fingerstappingtappingtapping...LOL Idril

Author's reply

Hi Idril. I'm glad you've liked Derek from the beginning. He's become a favorite of mine as well. Thanks for leaving a review and letting me know how much you are enjoying this story. I very much appreciate it.

6336 · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

Go Monalex!!! Woo! Hoo! Lynda

Author's reply

Indeed. LOL!

6336 · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

Oh,oh. I think Alex is a teensy bit pissed! I just hope Ratty is in Chandaler and not witing out in the parking lot for him. I do wish Amroth would stop calling him son, it makes Alex seem like a four year old. Now what's going on in town, unless all the sherifs department has been called out, some thing is going down! I have the feeling though, if it was that big the sherif would have called in his Deputy Elves! Hope all goes well today, take it easy. Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Alex is a lot pissed. Ratty isn't anywhere near the Academy now. Amroth thinks of Alex as his son, so it stands to reason that he calls him that. It's a term of affection, and perhaps Alex doesn't really mind. I suspect Amroth called him that when they were both at the Agency. As for what is happening at the sheriff's department, we'll learn that in the next chapter. I managed to last until 3:00 and then I went home and took a nap. No one minded and everyone said to take it easy. I hope by the end of the week I'll be able to go the entire day. We'll see. Thanks for the review. I appreciate it very much.

obsidianj · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

Oh, boy. Does Glorfindel realize he is playing with fire? Neither Alex nor Derek will take this treatment for much longer. Alex is bound to go off on his own shortly - and Derek will not be far behind. So Derek has a background in naval intelligence. Interesting... More talent that is needed.

Author's reply

Hi obsidianj. I think Glorfindel is too tired to realize what he's doing and he's really at the end of his rope. Unfortunately, events will keep piling up and at some point he's going to cross a line that he shouldn't have and Alex will not be happy about it, to say the least. And Derek is just what everyone needs, even if they don't realize it just yet. Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it very much.

Lady Edlyn · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

Good morning, meldonya! What a great chapter; lots of information, Derek finally being taken on board (so to speak), more mystery, and some Elf-Man headbutting. :-) I think that Glorfindel needs: 1) about 36 to 48 hours of unbroken sleep; 2) a counseling session with Dan or Ron; 3) a wrestling session with the Maiar or a run with some wolves; and, 4) a moderated meeting with Alex so they can get some things said and out in the open. I think Amroth would probably be the best one to moderate any such meeting, because he has a much more balanced view of what Alex is actually capable of than Glorfindel does and he can help Alex fit Glorfindel and the other Elves into his "chain of command". I'm also guessing that Glorfindel needs a reminder about how he felt back when he was a Reborn when he felt the Valar and Maiar were treating him as a child and have it pointed out that is the exact same thing he is doing to Alex (and now to an extent, Derek). Of course, Alex needs to realize that he's not in his usual position of autonomy any more. So they are both going to have to make adjustments. I'm glad that you are no longer under "medical house arrest" and look forward to reading what happens next to our favourite Elves and Men on Friday. I finish my finals on Thursday so it will be a nice treat! Be well! Edlyn

Author's reply

Hi Edlyn. I'm glad you found this to be a great chatper. There really is a lot of information being passed around. You're right about what Glorfindel needs, especially the unbroken sleep and the counseling session. In fact, we will see in a later chapter where circumstances will be such that he actually snaps and threatens bodily harm to another. Glorfi is definitely not a happy camper. And he does need a reminder of how he felt as a Reborn with the Valar and Maiar. It's been way too long for him and he definitely needs a refresher course. *grin* And of course, Alex does need to realize that things have changed for him and he needs to acknowledge that there is now a different chain of command than what he's used to. I'm glad I'm not under "medical house arrest" either. LOL! Good luck with your finals and thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it very much.

Monalex · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

I really hate GLORFINDEL!!!!! And I never thought I would say this!!!! "Mortals mucking things up" BASTARD!!!!! A more arrogant elf I have not read of in this story, well maybe AMROTH who gives him a run for his money... Also I don't think it justify this arrongance that they haven't interacted with mortals in a long while, they are living in the world of men not elves, dwarves and hobbits, MEN!!!!! If they made hermits of themselves it's their fault and mortals shouldn't be paying for their decisions. So I really hope ALEX and DEREK have sweet revenge upon this arrogant elves, if not because ALEX is curious and feels responsible for FARRELL and the other agents, I think he would have been long gone.... with the kind of respect they offer mortals its a wonder they have mortal "friends" at all!!!! Or maybe that's the point up until now most of the elves had not encounter type A personalities, those who could be classified as leaders among men, they are used to persons like ZACK and the others from Elf Academy who were content to be led by the nose... So I think the Valar and Maiar should put in their place this overbearing elves by showing them that they are also nothing compared to them, so where would they get off treating MORTALS as second class citizens????? Yes they may be young compared to them, but that is what gives them the advantage since they are more prone to do foolish and brave deeds. After all didn't ARAGORN made a foolish-brave decision to atack Mordor with a desiminated and tired army in the vague hope some hobbits would finish an errand to destroy a ring of great evil??? And really what a way for DEREK to surprise everyone... not just another pretty face indeed.

Author's reply

You're absolutely right, Monalex. Glorfi's only real excuse is that he's sleep deprived and totally pissed and emotionally drained from the interrogation and did I mention sleep deprived? *grin* Glorfi's attitude and the attitude of the other Elves will have certain consequences in later chapters. They won't be getting away with it by any means, I promise. And Derek is just full of surprises, isn't he? *grin* Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I greatly appreciate it.

Kitty · 4 June 2012 · Chapter 40: Explanations

Glad to know Jack is okay. He was not involved in anything and doesn't deserve this, after all. *raises brow* Derek was another intelligence officer? Now that is interesting. And they shared a room? The Valar must have had their hands in this. In any case, he took the whole thing rather well, and I am not so surprised that he had been wondering already, he was an intelligent guy, after all. His reasoning No one would actually make up something like archaic nasalized stop mutations unless they were truly evil. left me laughing quite a bit, though! "Makes it less likely for me to slip up, but now explain to me what the hell is Homeland Security or the CIA doing shoving their noses into the affairs of this Academy? Don’t they have better things to do with themselves?" Exactly what I thought! Really like Derek and his sarcastical remarks. He'll be an asset to their group! Well, that confirms my feelings that the way Farrell went about the whole thing wasn't how an agent was supposed to act. Maddy giving him hell for it sounds good to me. Assumed they get to send him back in one piece, that is. Oh no, another emergency? And I'm off to France on Wednesday and have to wait for Monday to read the Friday update! Oh well, at least I'll get two at once! But you know, even if it's true that the Elves can get faster to the Sheriff's office, I still don't like the way how they treat Alex and Derek. It's a bit too arrogant for my taste. Anyway, I hope your first day back at work went well!

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. I'm sure the Valar arranged for the two intelligence agents to room together. I'm glad you like Derek. He's a lot of fun to write and he will indeed be an asset to the group. I'm afraid the Elves are still not used to treating Elves as their equals, especially people like Alex who is used to being a leader-type. That attitude will come back to haunt them, as we will see in a later chapter First day went well enough, though I didn't last the entire day. Still I lasted longer than I expected. I'm hoping by the end of the week to be able to do a full day. We'll see. Thanks for leaving a comment. It's much appreciated.

Whispy · 3 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

Interesting. Ve-ry interesting. Glad the intruders were caught before they could cause any serious damage, and nice to see that Derek can hold his own. I wouldn’t want to be in the intruder’s place…two very, very pissed off Elves interrogating me? –shudders- Yeah, no thanks. It’ll be interesting to see how Derek reacts the revelations that the Elves will give him. (Oh, and also, I think Glorfindel needs a hug, stat. I VOLUNTEER!) Eagerly looking forward to the next chapter! Whispy

Author's reply

Hi Whispy. Yes, the intruders have no idea what kind of trouble they are truly in with at least two pissed off Elves in their midst. We'll see how Derek reacts in the next chapter to whatever revelations the Elves reveal to him. And I'm sure you're not the only one who would gladly volunteer to give Glorfindel a hug or two. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. I very much appreciate it.

Clouded Leopard · 2 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

I am glad that Elladan has acknowledged that Alex is kin even though distant kin. As for Glorfindel, he has a lot to deal with both emotionally and mentally at this time. I feel he will deal with all issues and come out on top. As for Farrell, he is up to something. I think he was using the two locals for a diversion to what he is really up to. It would be a big mistake on his part if he really went after someone else close to Amroth while the elves were busy interrogating Snyder and Ersck. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. Can't wait for more action between Farrell, Alex, the Elves and even Derek. Is Alex seeing Derek now as a little brother?

Author's reply

Hello Clouded Leopard. Glofindel is pretty much a wreck both emotionally and mentally, but, as you say, he'll come out on top eventually. Farrell is playing a dangerous game, more dangerous than he realizes, since he has no idea that he is pitting himself against Elves and other immortal beings, such as Maiar and the odd Valar. *grin* He'll leasrn differently in time. I think Alex sees Derek as the brother he never had and since Derek is a few years younger than he is, then obviously, 'little brother' would be appropriate. Thanks for taking the time to read and review. It's very much appreciated.

obsidianj · 2 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

Woa! Action came back with a vengeance. It was too quiet in the last chapters. The break is over. I'm getting ticked of at the elves for treating the mortals like they are not able to understand anything and are little kids. Granted, most of the students are very young, but they have a brain and especially Alex and Derek are older than most and have some experience. I like it how Derek could hold his own and calling the goons 'bozos'. Luckily, I don't have to wait long for Monday. Let's see how Derek reacts to some revelations.

Author's reply

Hi obsidianj. Yes, things have been a little too quiet lately. *grin* The Elves need a reality check with regards to Mortals. They've been going it alone for so long, they've forgotten how to play nicely with others. We'll see in a later chapter how their arrogance comes back to bite them. And we'll see in the next chapter how Derek reacts to certain revelations concerning Elves. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Midnight Promise · 2 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

Hello! You know, as much as I love the elves, I really hope Alex and/or other Men show them up and make them realize this is a team effort. ;) One thing that really stood out was how you kept Glorfindel's emotional issues current. You have his scene and when he comes in later, you have just those few lines about Alex noticing his (Glorfindel's) distress. Since you would expect some signs of Glorfindel's distress, or even relief if it had gotten to that stage, to show through. Very well done. :D And YES! I was looking forward to the time when the Twins (or even Glorfindel for that matter, considering how he's basically "family") referred to Alex as a family member. :D Heh, loved that part, and I hope there is more of that to come. :3 It also makes me wonder how Alex will react to having an "extended" family since he has basically just had his mom in his life. Or will he feel uncomfortable and think the Elves are trying to replace him for his ancestor, Aragorn or Beren? There is one thing that I have been waiting for and that's how Serindë is acting towards Alex. They have been in the general vicinity of each other for a bit now, and granted Alex was at death's door for a bit, but I was expecting a conversation/confrontation by now. o.o; Its actually kinda makes me nervous. Glad you are doing better and thanks for the consistent updates! You are one of the few authors I have read that consistently update. :) Best, MP

Author's reply

Hi MP. Your wish about Men showing up the Elves may come sooner than you think. *grin* And, of course, it makes sense to show Glorfindel's emotional state, considering how fragile he is feeling at the moment, and having his sleep interrupted the way it was has not made him a happy camper. Alex may have a hard time thinking of some of the Elves as 'family' just because he's always been alone except for his mom, but I think eventually he'll see the benefits of it and accept it. We may see him and Serindë having a conversation in a future chapter. After all, when she marries Elrohir, she'll technically be Alex's aunt. *grin* Thanks for your good wishes for my continuing health and for the review. both are much appreciated.

Kitty · 2 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

Yeah, that's what I thought ... it's going to be hard for the Elves to go on when their friends leave this world one by one. In any case, the Elves really do their best to take good care of the students, as Ron's suggestion about watches once again shows. I wonder where Alex's premonitions come from – is it more his experience as an agent, or is it his lineage? Or a mixture of both? In any case, I am glad he encountered Elladan and could give him a warning. Lol, so they finally reminded Alex that he's in fact a descendant of the twin's sister and of Misty? Has to be rather unsettling for Alex, particularly after everything he had to deal with lately. But I hope he's going to appreciate it in the end. Argh, that was to be expected that Farrell couldn't keep quiet any longer, after the enforced break during the storm. Glad Alex sensed that something was wrong, so they were warned. The end of the chapter was fun to read – Alex and the Elves (and Derek, actually) worked very well together to catch the intruders. Glad Derek woke up and was able to defend himself, I was really worried they'd use him as a shield and blackmail the Elves if they got there first. And I'm glad Jack was only knocked out, but not otherwise injured, even though that is bad enough already. Hm, I find it strange that the agency should hire local scroundels for their operation instead of using their own agents. Makes me wonder about Farrell again – is he really there on order of Maddy Washburn, or is he working on his own? Alex and Derek won't be happy to be excluded here, but I can't wait for the next update to find out what that was all about!

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. Alex's premonitions is probably a combination of his training and his lineage, though, until now, he's probably put such premonitions down to survival instincts honed over the years as an agent. I don't think he's going to appreciate the relationship between him and the Twins and Misty immediately. It'll take some time for him to get his head around the concept and he has other things to occupy his mind at the moment. Glad you found the end of the chapter fun. As for Farrell and just where he stands in terms of the Agency, we will hopefully learn about that before the end of the story. Next chapter we will learn something of what occurred during the interrogation and what the Elves discovered as well as seeing how Derek reacts to certain information that is imparted to him by the Elves. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

Kitty · 2 June 2012 · Chapter 38: Casualties of the Storm

Good, it seems things are finally looking up, at least as far as the weather is concerned. All things considered, I'd say the Elf Academy weathered the whole storm and virus very well. Hm ... looks like Glorfindel could make a career as burglar ;) And everyone would think it was opened with a key! Oh, I am sorry about Martina. While we didn't really know him, it's still sad that he died there. But I liked the memory of him arguing with Glorfindel and them solving the argument with swearing in Sindarin! Glorfindel took it rather hard; I suspect the Elves haven't worked that closely with Mortals for a very long time for exact that reason, and now that they can't avoid it any longer, it's going to be difficult for them to lose them. I'm glad Námo came to comfort him. Interesting how Alex felt the need to go and seek Glorfindel out. He's really switched sides completely, seeing how he acts around the Elves. For some reason I was thinking of LotR when that reading of a thick book was mentioned, until I remembered that it doesn't exist in this universe. What a pity. Oh no, Edhellond is damaged! And of course you had to chose Glorfindel's room, did you? No wonder the poor guy is getting agitated – I get the feeling he can't take much more. Even Elves need a break now and then!

Author's reply

Hi Kitty. Yeah, Glorfindel could make a career as a burglar, couldn't he? *grin* Good thing he's not so inclined. Glorfindel is taking Martina's death very hard. While he has no doubt been sorry when a Mortal he knows has died, until coming to Wiseman, he's not really befriended many Mortals, knowing just what would be their ultimate fate and not being able to do anything about it. But now, of course, he's become close to several Mortals and Martina's death has driven home to him what he (and the other Elves) have to face in the future. It's a rather unsettling thing for him to comtemplate. Alex seems to be tuning into the Elvish world more, allowing him to 'hear' the trees summoning him to Glorfindel. And Glorfindel's room being damaged is adding insult to injury, I know, but the whole point of the last few chapters has been to overwhelm Glorfindel, and the reason for that will become clear in time. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Lyana · 2 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

Oh, so many goodies in this chapter - yay for Derek! I don't think he's going to be too shocked by the revelations. But those two baddies should be afraid, very afraid! One peeved, sleep-deprived elf lord is incredibly dangerous, but two?? They have NO idea how scared they should be... And Farrell - I'd really love to see him on an ice floe with a hungry polar bear or three in the very near future. Can't wait for Monday!

Author's reply

Hi Lyana. I doubt Derek will be too shocked either. He's a lot cannier than most people give him credit, as we will see. Yes, the two baddies have no idea what they've fallen into and have no idea that they should be very afraid. Unfortunately, they have no idea just how afraid they should be, as we will see later on. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

harrowcat · 1 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

I am so glad that I have an exceptionally busy weekend and that Monday isn't too far away. You do know how to rack up the tension. At least Derek might begin to get some answers and, I suspect, give a few of his own. Poor Glorfindel! So much for 10 hours uninterrupted kip! My,...those Elves get around quickly! 'grin'

Author's reply

Hi harrowcat. Yes, it's only a minor cliffhanger and Monday isn't too far away. Derek will indeed get some answers and even surprise the Elves and Alex with certain information about himself. Glorfindel is not a happy camper right now, but he'll get his 10 hours eventually. And Elrohir, unhampered by the darkness as Alex is, is able to reach the stairs more quickly. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I appreciate it.

Sunny · 1 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

Being frequently in danger certainly has taught Alex to listen to his in-built early warning system is screaming at him to do (or _not_ do) something. and not surprisingly it was Farrell who was behind this night's trouble. I am sure he will blame it on his dupes - but since Farrell recruited a pair of known criminals for this little job (and what was it? Killing, kidnapping, or just beating someone up? And was the target Alex or Derek, or perhaps Farrell just did not care, as long as the two stooges he had recruited got some blood flowing?) So Elladan has acknowledged Alex as a kinsman. The big question now is, is Alex going to want _Elves_ as relatives? I wonder what the young people of the Academy would say to Elrohir's statement that any warrior's orders are to be obeyed, and that they (the students, that is) are subject to their orders? Trying to give orders to people like that would be rather like trying to herd cats, I think! ;-) I guess Derek is going to learn that Elves really exist very soon now. It will be interesting to see his reaction! (Especially if a Vala or Maia also pop in to say hello) ;-)

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. Yes, I can just imagine that it would be like herding cats to get the students to obey the Elves. And that is the question, whether Alex will acknowledge the Elves (or some of them)as relatives. We'll have to see how that goes. As to the purpose of Farrell's ploy, that will be revealed (more or less) in the next chapter and Derek will indeed learn something of the Elves. What his reaction will be remains to be seen. Thanks for readng and reviewing. It's greatly appreciated.

Tari · 1 June 2012 · Chapter 39: Night Raid

I'm beginning to think Farrell is more than a government agent. There is something very dark and sinister about him. Why would he be after Derek? I'm sure that question will be answered soon.

Author's reply
