I'm glad to have this glimpse at the long missive. It's a drag that Frodo couldn't welcome his brother personally but Sam has this and I'm sure he will sense his beloved's presence everywhere. I'm looking forward to seeing him meet 'Pippin'. :)
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Sam will have plenty of opportunities to see the places Frodo enjoyed spending his time and meet his many friends. And maybe even come across a certain deer. ;-)

... because I know you’ll ask and not be satisfied with any answer lest it be from me directly
Frodo knows his Sam very well :-)
I'm quite sure he succeeded in convincing Sam that he was fully healed. And now Sam can be at peace, too and have a good time listening to Gandalf singing and looking for the buck called Pippin.
Author's reply
He does indeed. :)
Sam needed to hear that directly from Frodo, or there'd always be that doubt lingering in the back of his mind. Now he can truly enjoy his life in Tol Eressea.

*sniff*
Oh Frodo! I hope someday you might give us the whole letter, but this is the important part, the part Sam needs to see, and so do we.
*sniffles again*
Author's reply
Frodo certainly knows what will be foremost on Sam's mind. He wouldn't want Sam to keep wondering if Frodo was healed. Sam will be more at ease now.

There's so much about this letter I love, especially the phrase "as soon you get home".
Author's reply
Frodo knows how to make his Sam feel better and at home, even if he can't be there himself.

A buck named after Peregrin Took? Now, that must be quite the story! Heh!

I'm sure it is! I wish I knew it, but Pippin's not sharing! ;)

Gandalf may have different looks and a different name - but what remains is his delight in pipeweed ;-)
I wonder about Frodo's choice of words to welcome Sam home. And I'm even more curious about what Sam's luggage has to do with the fulfillment of his promise.
Author's reply
Gandalf has his priorities in order. ;)
Knowing Frodo, he probably wrote Sam a novel!

RL is keeping me busy but I am enjoying reading this. My heart would like the happy ever after of Frodo and Sam meeting again but there is much logic in your tale too.

I'm so glad you're enjoying the story so far! Frodo has gone ahead of his Sam again, but Sam won't let that stop him from enjoying his retirement.

I am glad that at least in this manner Frodo was able to greet his Sam. Gandalf with black hair is almost hard to imagine for me, at least.
Author's reply
Well, it's smoky black hair, so still greyish, just a darker shade of grey than he was sporting before. ;) And I do believe Frodo would have made sure to leave some sort of personal message for Sam, just in case.

A delightful conversation! I like how you've made sure that Olorin/Gandalf retains his Gandalf personality in spite of the changes in his appearance! I find myself curious as to what he meant by "sent on ahead" about Sam's luggage!
Author's reply
Gandalf may be less grumpy, but he's still Gandalf. lol! We'll find out what he meant soon enough. ;)

I love Gildor's recognition that he'd been in the company of great folk then. Yes, great individuals hidden inside those who appear small and ordinary.

Gildor had learned much about the greatness of hobbits. And that size truly doesn't matter. ;)

I am glad to see you again, elf-friend.
That is what Gildor called Frodo a long time ago.
Apart from being a title, it shows perfectly the relationship between Sam and the Elves of Tol Eressea: They are friends among friends!
Author's reply
If anyone deserves the title after Frodo (and Bilbo) that would be Sam. He'll carry it well and proudly.

It's wonderful to see old Sam so happy, and eager like a hobbit child to meet all those wonderful Elves. A dream has come true :-)

Caught up on these last two chapters - I love that the 'you are there' continues. What a great welcome to see so many familiar faces, though not the ones that were the most beloved, and to be treated with such love, respect, honor and words of coming home. Perhaps this was close to what it was like for Frodo and Bilbo.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Sam is very good as getting all the important details. :) Sam has lots of friends, even here in Elvenhome, who are eager to greet him and make him feel at home. And yes, I imagine it's very close to the reception Frodo and Bilbo received.
