Its scenes like these that make me miss Fiondil so much. Just this morning I was thinking of all the "history" and research that his stories must entail, especially Wars of the Valar, In Darkness Bound, and the Elf Interrupted and Elf Academy series. So, it looks like that was just a little too much culture shock for the High King. I am glad that Alex was able to make him see it from another viewpoint, and that he was convinced to stay as long as originally planned. Maybe they will be able to interact with mortals who will convince them that not all mortals are ready to shoot them on sight. Thank you so much for letting us readers enjoy Fiondil's works just a little longer. It will never really be the same without his response to our reviews, and his hints about upcoming stories, but through his works he will always be here for us.

Sorry. My fourth paragraph in my review should say I can't wait to see what happens next. My fumble fingers.

@ Sunny, I love your pictures and other attachments that you include in your reviews. The one this week was beautiful, though I got cold watching it. It takes a hardy person to be able to live in that environment. I sometimes think it is very hard to live and thrive in Wiseman. As I age I am less and less enthralled with cold weather. Snow is beautiful in its way, but my body rejects the cold necessary to produce such weather. I love the way that Fiondil wrote Olorin and Alex in this chapter. Olorin reminds me greatly of Gandalf here with his smoking and casual reminders about the Maiar. He was like that in LOTR, many times helping the Hobbits while still letting them making the decisions about the course of their lives. Alex is a hoot. He is unabashedly not afraid to be upfront to Ingwe about the role of mortals in the coming fight. And lets not forget that Alex did die and the One let him return to the fight while the President of the college did die of a heart attack in EA2 and did not come back to life. So Elves should not be counting themselves as the only beloved of the One. I can't see what happens next. I hope we see Dave and how he is handling all of these people that he has arrested. He may cuss the Maiar the next time he sees them though they did cut through a lot of investigative work his folks would have gone through to uncover those involved in the attacks. And from what Fiondil said in the past, I think we are near the end of Elf Academy III. I am looking forward to Elf Academy IV and sincerely hope that the betas have enough to publish what was written before Fiondil's untimely death. Thank you very much for letting us read the end of EA3.

I really enjoyed Alex's debate with Ingwe. So that's what Olwe was doing. He wasn't just turning into a TV junkie, he was learning. Cool. ~Eruherdiriel

You go tell them, Alex. I know Ingwe is under shock, but to lump all humans into one mudhole as Alex put it, is a bit much. I think Alex had it right about the cost/benefit analysis. Every time there is an interaction between Elves and humans in Tolkien's world, I get the impression that humans are a bit beneath the elves no matter that they are all children of Eru. If they want to fight the Dagor Dagorath and win, they all have to work together. Everyone to their best abilities. I don't think humans can only be used as cannon fodder in that battle. Thanks to whoever is continuing to post the story. It is much appreciated.

UTfrog · 15 February 2015 · Chapter 118: Breakfast at the Encampment

Go Alex. That telling off was masterful. Also love the information about his Mom. For those of you continuing the story, I can't thank you enough.

Kitty · 14 February 2015 · Chapter 118: Breakfast at the Encampment

Oh, I had forgotten that the ones at the encampment didn't even know what exactly happened. No wonder they were rather worried, particularly after Ingwë's breakdown. Glorfindel and the others have a point about how their friends may react, but personally I hope Vorondur is more right that the events will make these idiots think twice next time before attacking anything and anyone to do with the Elves. In any case, I hope Olórin is right that they are now better off; we don't need more and more attacks on the Elves. While I feel sorry for Dave, it's still better he doesn't know where to put them all than trying in vain to find the culprits, right? Olórin is still smoking occasionally? Now you have me wondering if he can still get Old Toby and Longbottom Leaf, or if he has to take what is available nowadays. Totally irrelevant, I know. But somehow it's comforting to know he still does it after all these millennia. And Glorfindel should know Maiar are above such pesky things as lung problems due to smoking. Anyway, what Olórin says is comforting. Sure, I know they are very powerful, more than I can imagine, but it's easy to forget that a single Maia can do so much more than any single person of whatever other race. He gave a good perspective of their true powers, and in a way, that's very reassuring. It makes it more clear that he could obviously interfere even in case of more than one simultaneous attack. Ingwë left me shaking my head. While I understand how he feels, it's still completely wrong to blame all Mortals for what happened. Trust Alex to turn up at this precise moment, overhear what Ingwë said and turn the tables on the High King! He has such a refreshing way of disrespecting all these Elven titles and sensibilities, lol. That's why he is good for the Elves ;) And 'Vala-la-land' made me laugh – these two, Alex and Derek, are priceless! In any case, Alex learned his Elven history well, and he made some very good points and hopefully got the Elves thinking hard about their relationship with the Secondborn – particularly the ones who never had any real interaction with them or are thinking they are so much better just for being Firstborn. It seems he opened Ingwë's eyes, and probably not only his. Well done, Alex! Ha, Anne and Andy? That would be great – and just what I had hoped for, somehow I got the feeling they would fit well together even back in the beginning. What an amusing thing for the two gwedyr if they become brothers legally as well! I'm still waiting/hoping for these two to move to Wiseman, too.

Truly lol'ed reading this chapter. Alex the Mortal putting the High King of the Eldar in his proper place. This chapter truly put a smile on my face. Good to know the mention of the Edain of the First Age being given their proper honour and respect. Greetings from Malaysia.

Dreamflower · 14 February 2015 · Chapter 118: Breakfast at the Encampment

What a cool chapter! I think between Olorin's reminder and Alex's "rude" questions, some Elven eyes have been opened. I just adored Olorin/Gandalf taking out his pipe; I think when he's "Oliver" he's closer to his Gandalf self than his Olorin self, LOL! He made an excellent point: whether there are two hundred or twenty or only two Maiar in Wiseman doesn't matter. The power is there, and whichever Maia is doing the guarding has unimaginable force to command! And Alex made excellent points. The Elves have to realize that humans have evolved socially, and are not quite the same sorts of peoples that they knew millennia ago. Of course there are those who are not as enlightened as others, but that is only to be expected. I hope that we will soon get a glimpse of Dave having to deal with the mob of haters.

Sunny · 14 February 2015 · Chapter 118: Breakfast at the Encampment

Sounds like Alex definitely was the right person to serve up some bitter truths for the Elves and get them thinking. And I suspect he was dead right about the cost-benefit analysis too. I loved how Ingwe finally said that Alex was a most annoying chld and compared him to Glorfindel. Clearly Ingwë is over the immediate shock of seeing Daeron almost die, hopefully the rest of the visit will be less stressful. "Vala-la-land" ROFLMAO I really miss Fiondil's answers to everybody's comments. But there's another thing I am going to miss as well. Somethimes, when surfing the Web, I come across various little things - funny stories, silly pictures, beautiful music videos and so on. And from now on it won't be a matter of "I must see if I can work this into the next review of Fiondil's fic and see what his reaction will be", all the while grinning like a loon. And then, of course, reading his answer. I'll just leave this here, for the rest of you to enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mmwv94WKmnI

KathyG · 14 February 2015 · Chapter 118: Breakfast at the Encampment

I am so glad that Alex was able to talk some sense into Ingwë! At least, he's beginning to understand that he can't write off all mortals because some of them are bad. Hopefully, he will soon find his way to learn to work with them before he returns to Valinor.

KathyG · 14 February 2015 · Chapter 118: Breakfast at the Encampment

...*thinks President Obama meeting the Elves would be interesting* [snort] Perhaps that would do him good--if, in fact, anything can!

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 14 February 2015 · Chapter 118: Breakfast at the Encampment

Well, that's telling the kings, Alex, especially Ingwe. *snort* Oh, Atya, I can just imagine how much you laughed writing the scenes with Alex and with "Oliver" - I wish I'd told you sometime how much Olorin's new guise amused me, and how "Dr. Grey" just makes me smile. Not Ollie, indeed. It's good to know all the Mortal men are in custody. But I don't think the women should be discounted - I know poor Dave has little enough room for all of them, but I hope they obey the order not to run. Women are just as capable of heinous acts as men (Madame Defarge and her crew come to mind *shudders* although they're the wrong story. If they have any counterparts in Wiseman...my goodness.) Another question that has come to mind whenever I see Alex is about Felicity. I know you can't exactly answer me anymore, Atya, so I hope one of your betas can - is Felicity related to Rabbi Cohen? She's Felicity Cohen, isn't she? Anyway, I'm glad the kings and everyone have decided to stay. Quite intrigued to see just which Mortal leaders they get to meet...*thinks President Obama meeting the Elves would be interesting* Love from Kaylee

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 14 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

Atya, I hope that in the Presence there's still some sort of internet connection, so you can see how much I, and your other readers, still love this story, and love and respect you. This is a tale that's only growing more and more exciting, not to mention frightening in the telling. More explosives, more crazy Mortals - thank Eru for Legolas and the Wiseman police. I hope this all gets sorted, that the Mortals who were arrested get their heads on straight. Let's hope the Maiar provided a good example. Tye-melin, Atto Fiondil, always, through death and beyond. Kaylee

MikoNoNyte · 14 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

Finally caught up to everything in this story (after a month offline) and am stunned with the way this piece is going! Crazy Mortal looney-tunes, bombs at SCHOOLS (this is not for elves ya dutzes, but for tourism, money in your pockets!), attempted burnings and murder followed with good measure a dollop of Maiar here and there and Eonwe. Oh and Gandalf. *blinks* This is one of those reads I do truly wish you could hear my thoughts and remarks, Fiondil Hir nin, because this story is becoming a tour de force!

Shemyaza · 13 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

I think the fact that everyone is still leaving reviews is a fitting tribute to a thoroughly nice gentleman (they don't get made like Arthur these days) and a fine writer and researcher. I am the other person trying to help Ellie and Alassiel deal with the next story in the series and get it finished, but I know that wherever Fiondil is, he is seeing these reviews and wishing he could answer you in person. I wish he could too *sigh*

Kevana · 13 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

What a wild ride this is turning out to be. Now I know what Fiondil meant several weeks ago when he said that the Maiar might not be as hands-off as they originally said they'd be. It's notable that the Elves think this was more for the Mortals' benefit. I can certainly see that being the case. Those doofuses trying to blow stuff up are going to end up in federal prison if they keep on with the C4 (where on earth did they even get that?) I don't feel right not reviewing the rest of this story, even though Fiondil won't be able to read them, so I'm going to keep up with it. It's so strange though, waking up to read and review a chapter on Friday was such a little but consistent thing that now it brings it home that he's no longer with us. I miss it and I miss him. Lots of love, -Kevana

ReaderKit · 10 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

I was wondering where Officer Prince was in all that. So he got his own excitement too, huh? Though it is a good thing he isn't involved in rounding up the witnesses, conflict of interests there. Yeah, I can totally agree with Glorfi's worry. People(/Elves?) would be more reckless if they knew there were guardian angels around to get them out of most any trouble; however, perhaps a show of power was needed for some of the attackers who were more on the fence. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. Good to see the snatches of humor in the midst of a serious situation: "spoken like a true officer of the law," "show off," etc. I think I'm most amused that Legolas was annoyed when the people parked in illegal spaces, just trying to reconcile that to the chipper archer in the LOTR books. =)

Eruherdiriel · 10 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

I enjoyed Fionwe in Legolas' story. I love how the Maiar seem to go out of their way to impress people with their powers in an offhand manner. I find it hilarious. ~Eruherdiriel

Ora · 10 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

I'm so glad Legolas is back in the story, I was wondering what he was doing. Thank you to the people who work so that we can continue to read the story, Ora

UTfrog · 9 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

I had wondered if Elf Academy has also been targeted. This was an excellent explanation. I also enjoyed the conversation about guardian angels. Thanks.

Larner · 8 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

I can certainly appreciate the concerns as to what their mortal friends (and enemies) may think as a result of divine intervention on the scale shown; but I'm rather glad that the Maiar were there to begin with. And I rejoice that Olorin took up a familiar form as he made his way from the Elf Academy buildings. Stupid rednecks, to think that they would be able to get away with such destruction and then some killings as well! I do hope they are all wiser than they were before this happened!

Dreamflower · 8 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

Well, that answers my question about where Legolas was during the trouble in the last chapter. The coordination of the attacks and the presence of the C4 clearly shows that there's someone behind things other than just a few disgruntled locals. I hope Dave can track down the money and brains behind all this. I hope that many of the malcontents will rethink their position after facing bald words like "arson" and "attempted murder". I love the sword-wielding Olorin. I am quite sure it looked a lot like Glamdring. Actually, the Maia making a show of themselves now may be good. Display the overwhelming power now and it may help to prevent future stupidity. Although stupid can be resistant to common sense. FV-Whisperer, I think you may be on to something. I never would have thought of that! But of course, he's been with them for millennia, so I'm sure that is also a factor.

obsidianj · 8 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

So, that was the noise heard in the encampment in the last chapter. The nut cases were trying to explode Elf Academy. This is not just a mob anymore. These were planned attacks. Who is supplying them with the C4? You can't buy this stuff in the next ammo shop. Glorfindel may be right that there are too many Maiar around, but even with all the kings gone there will still be some Maia left. They always watched over the elves in Wiseman. One Maia alone will be of great help to prevent the worst. Legolas seems to settle into his role as police officer nicely. I liked the touch of him regarding Edhelhond as "home".

Laer · 8 February 2015 · Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy

I so love this story. All the detail, all the information...thank you for not letting his gift disappear never to be seen by anyone again.
