· Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy
Sheesh! This is getting messier and messier! Now they are trying to blow up the Academy? These people are nut jobs in more than one sense of the word!
Good to see Officer Prince is settling into his job so well and that others are using his abilities to their advantage. The Mair do like to put on a show don't they, in some ways they are more like Elflings than the Valar!
Glorfindel is right though, the Valars intervention at both Edelholland and at the Academy could backfire if people think they will be on hand to help out all the time, it would be best if they just left things alone for us to muddle through on our own.
Somebody asked a while back if Eonwe was espoused, I asked that of Fiondil some time back and his answer was that Eonwe hadn't told him and wasn't likely to!
As for Dearon looking upon the Twins as his sons I have a feeling he is in much the same boat as Glorfindel, until he has children of his won he will look upon the Sons of Elrond as his.
Plans on bringing roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and veg to the Cliff House, if there is any left that is. Adds Raspberry Braid Coffee Cake to breakfast table, makes real oatmeal, not that instant stuff!
Huggs to all,
Lynda

· Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy
The fact that the Elf Academy was attacked does not surprise me. Though it may have been overkill, the appearance of the maiar to stop the explosion turned out to be a good thing. C4 is not something to play around with and it sounds as if there was enough to burn down half the college that even the attackers would have been in trouble during the explosions. C4 is also not something that is normally available so Dave may have lots of leads into who is behind the attacks tracing down where this stuff is from. I wonder if it will go back to the people that employed Alex in Washington. My hope is that it will be addressed in Elf Academy 4.
Legolas as a policeman is turning out to be a good idea. The other police have apparently accepted him and he does have better eyesight and ability to find things that is very helpful in his work. Glorfindel may be right that there is too large a maiar presence for what is going on but even if that doesn't change people's minds about believing that the Elves are demons, it might slow them down in attacking them outright. It's going to be hard to keep living in Wiseman if Glorfindel and company have to keep looking over the shoulders at every shadow and bush.
As I read this, the sun is setting over the trees. I have just finished my supper of fried chicken and red beans and rice cajun style. I will bring more fried chicken to the Cliff House along with a pot of beans. There always seems to be a pot of beans or stew cooking in my house most of the time. Anyone that drops in can help themselves if they are hungry and with bread it makes quite a meal. If it is breakfast where you are, then there is biscuits and various breakfast meats on the table and grits in the slow cooker. I'm sorry but someone else will have to bring the oatmeal, the only thing I use oats for is to make bread but I will add honey and various jams to the table. I hope everyone enjoys that week to come as we wait for Fiondil's take on what is happening in Wiseman.

· Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy
Yikes! Elf Academy being attacked at the same time! This shows there's some more intelligence behind these events than just an angry mob, with C4 being thrown in the mix as well. Somehow, I don't think the tourist industry will be happy about this as well. The college, and the tourist industry are the things that make Wiseman the place it is.
It's a good thing there were Maiar on watch, without them, this night would have gotten out of control, but it's no good they will not always be around. I have the feeling this might be a thing that would show up up EA 4. Still, I do not think the Elves are totally helpless on their on. Glorfindel could ward of all the the nine Nazgûl on his own, and there's Finrod added to the mix as well now, not to mention many others.
And I don't think the Powers will be watching over things without doing anything at all. It's not their nature to have no part in the fun!
I think Legolas is becoming a better cop more and more and it's good to see he is feeling at home in Wiseman. I liked his brief interaction with Olórin.
I miss asking Fiondill questions about the deeper aspects of the story, so I'm just going to throw this one in and hope others have an opinion about it too. In last chapter, Vardamir remarks Dearon might be seeing the Twins as his own sons.
Now we know Glorfindel has a strong bound with the Twins for them being Eärendil's descendants, and he even uses that as the reason/excuse (choose the option you like best ;) ) for never Sailing
Could Dearon be seeing the Twins in some similar light, them being the descendants of Luthien as well?
Any opinions on this one?
Take care everyone, and hugs.

Me, I'm with Glorfindel in this one. Too much divine invention (or angelic invention) can be dangerous - and backfire, big time. I wonder who is behind these coordinated attacks... aside from the Enemy, of course.
Officer Prince is made of the win, though.

· Chapter 117: The Attack on Elf Academy
Argh, they tried to burn down the Academy? This mob is really getting more and more dangerous. And all because they hate Elves ... I bet the tourism industry who wants Elf guides would be so happy if the Academy was lost!
Legolas is really turning more and more into an asset for the police of Wiseman, isn't he?
Thank Eru the Maiar were there to protect the Academy! Without them, this day would have turned into quite the bloodbath, and not in just one place. Good idea that they left the explosives where they were – such nice evidence to show these radicals are nothing but terrorists themselves. Dave's not going to be happy about that added work – but at least he has the evidence now.
These references to the Maiar playing in neutron stars are amusing. Of course it's amazing, but just imagining the faces of the Mortals around them makes me laugh.
Hm, I can see where Glorfindel is coming from with his doubts, and in a way, he has a point. I really hope the display of power by the Maiar opens a few eyes and keeps these people from any more attacks, though that's probably not going to happen. Oh well, I know what you would say, Fiondil – if it was enough for them to back down remains to be seen. So I'll just wait and hope for the best.

Farewell and namarie Fiondil best beloved.
How is it possible I feel so much like I know you through only reading your stories and replies to the reviews? I've never seen you but I feel like I've really lost a friend. I HAVE lost these people you wrote about because no one will ever write them the same way you did.😢 Good luck to you in your travels Mellon nin! We all love you still!
BTW, is there any way to see Fiondil embroidery? He was so proud of it and I always wanted to see some.
Thank you for posting the rest of his story.

That's a neat trick just dissolving the bullet. Save a lot of nasty surgery, but I guess this is for emergencies only considering the strain it put on the healers and the support they needed.
Unfortunately, this shows the darker side of humanity we all like to push under the carpet. Poor Ingwe! He goes to a wedding and has to see what humans are capable of. Not that elves are not capable of evil, but he is more familiar with how they act, and I think everything goes slower. Human emotions can turn on a dime and they perfected the weaponry over the millennia. Ingwe knew intellectually what humans are capable of, Arafinwe and Finrod will have told him the stories, But hearing stories that are long past and being confronted with reality are two different things.
I love the idea of breakfast. I will bring cheeses, quark and deli meats.

Thank you for continuing to update the story but it does not seem the same without Fiondil. The words are his but something is missing and the thing that is missing is indescribable but still felt.
For years, I looked forward to Friday and Monday mornings because of Fiondil. Reading Fiondil's work in the darkness of my room was my special time and a time of solace, comfort and peace before having to deal with "real" life.
The tragedy of Fiondil's death is that he died alone without any comfort or anyone to acknowledge his last breath. It does not seem right that one who gave so much received so little at the end.

What an initiation to the worst of mortal potential for the Valinorean Elves, and what a memory for Ingwe to know. Yes, it would indeed bring back that past horror and feelings of loss. I rejoice that Lord Namo and Finrod together were able to turn aside Daeron's death and keep those who'd come so armed from being guilty of murder.
Poor Michaelson! Not the night to wish for, certainly. Love how Eonwe dealt with him.

So Peterson's mob tried to get into the encampment also and do damage. Thankfully the maiar were there to protect the elves from harm. I am concerned that they will continue to stir up trouble for the elves unless something scares them into stopping.
The elves are beginning to stress out. I will be glad when the encampment gets back to Aman before something else happens. The fact that Dave got the list of people who attacked Elholland and has his detectives calling in people to be questioned about their actions in the mobs is going to really set off some reactions. Fiondil's stories have many instances of where the events in the story seem to mimic the events in real life. The mob mentality here seems very real to life and I am wondering how Glorfindel will handle this additional stress. But most of the time I have enjoyed how the author has come up with solutions to the problems that exist in his stories. How I miss Fiondil's replies to our reviews.
The virtual wake was lovely, a lot of people dropped by to pay their final respects. There is still a lot of food and drink here for people who want to visit. I now view the Cliff House as a living memorial to a wonderful author who kept me looking for the next chapter to his stories. And I still enjoy reading how others interpret what is happening in these stories.

Poor Michaelson, I am sure he is glad he is on the side of the "good" and not the bad guys; but I am also sure he would like to know what is going on in his little world. Glad Darren is ok, hopefully the others will be too (sometimes mental hurts are much worse than physical hurts.)

Reactions are tense and fraught. Considering the seriousness if the situation, no one is overreacting; it's going to take a while for everyone to assimilate all the events. And or course Ingwe is having a bit of a shock; he's never encountered this kind of thing.
Poor Dave! What a lot of headaches he'll have. I hope he throws the book at the rioters. But I do hope that the melted bullet won't complicate the case against whoever did the shooting.

I applied to become a story author here almost a year ago, Zillah the Scribe, and I'm still awaiting permission! Hopefully, this year, this Web site will commence accepting new story authors once more. [hint, hint, moderators!]
I am so glad that Daeron is going to recover! It would have been a tragedy if he had ended up being sent to the Halls of Mandos because of a bloodthirsty mob. It'll be interesting to see how Dave Michaelson ends up dealing with the perpetrators of this murder attempt.

Yay, Darren will be alright! Hmm, and initiated into the warrior society; he deserves it. And it's okay you broke down Glorfi and Ingwe, crying helps sometimes.
It is good to see Lawrence and gwedar becoming more independent and capable in the Mortal world. Poor Nell; sometimes it sucks to be female.
I'm a little confused - was the encampment attacked too or did they just hear the mob at Edhellond and Maiar showed up to protect them just in case? EIther way, the quiet confusion makes a lot of sense. Ron needs another Elf trained as a psychiatrist to help him, he's just got way too many patients as it is. =)
Ooh, Dave is not gonna let these people get away with anything. I imagine Eonwe was hopping mad. *snort* Dave as a shoe salesman.
Thanks for the update!

Thank you to the site mods for posting the updates to this story - I am certain Fiondil would have wanted this.
Also, a big thank you for posting the links to Fiondil's obituary and condolences. I have left a condolence myself, under my real name, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity for this.
Things are still exciting in Wiseman, I see, though fortunately not quite as "exciting" as they potentially could have been, since nobody actually died. I guess Glorfindel was due some tears and a bit of comforting.
After the tears, it seems he slipped a bit into Balrog-slayer mode again, this time directed at the Kings. They may have wanted to stay at Daeron's bedside, but a sickroom packed full of anxious guests would just have been too exhausting for the poor patient.
And as it happens, it clearly was a good thing they returned to the encampment. Ingwë obviously did not take Daeron's almost-death well, and I suspect Olwë is more disturbed than he lets on.
It is sad to know that I won't get one of Fiondil's kind answers to my comments on his updates ever again. He was definitely one of the very best Fanfiction authors I've read, and "talking" to him via the comments - of via e-mail - was always a pleasure and something that always cheered me up.

I only discovered Fiondil's writings about three weeks ago, and thus was not as affected when I saw that he had died, but still I wish I had reviewed when he was alive and could have seen.
I'm sill awaiting approval to become an author on this site, but whether I ever get approved or not, I sill remain,

Again, let me start with my gratitude for posting the obituary and condolences site.
Glorfindel collapsing was quite a thing, the ellon has had too much on his plate for the last months and ever since coming to Wiseman. And I think more than the Twins, Daeron has been his reliable side for millennia long, I would not be surprised if the bound between Glorfindel and Daeron is just as strong as the bound between Glorfindel and Finrod in some way.
Inducting Daeron to the Warrior Society might be an excellent way to show how much he means to everyone, proving the ellon wants it himself as well.
I think being ordered out of the room was a new experience for all the kings.
Ingwë breaking down was another things. I've always seen as Ingwë as the innocent one of the Kings, Olwë has seen the evils of the kinslaying himself, Arafinwë was a warrior during the War of Wrath, but Ingwë was never faced with something of that magnitude happing to his people. This must have been scary for him to being with, being remember to Ingil by it showed there's even a straw that can break the High King's back.
Dave and Eönwë was a most interesting encounter, and Dave will be taking no prisoners on this one (actually, he will, but in the literal sense).
The idea of Eönwë being espoused...I don't even know if with all his duties, he has the time to give attention to a nice Maiar wife as well, although can really think he needs one to help him with his burden. On the other hand, I can see how his abilities to remember everything and to know when someone is lying can give awkward situations in a relationship.
Kaylee, the breakfast table sounds delicious, even though I've just had dinner, and I'm not sure what I can bring in to add. Drinkable yoghurt is popular among some people here (including myself), as is porridge.
Bread with jam, cheese, or peanut butter (as long as I don't have to eat the later) and boiled eggs! Oh and fruit! Fruit is always good too.
As a extra, I'll bring my music collecting. There's some lovely music in there for remembrance and quite a few different styles, so we can all find something for our liking.
Take care everyone and hugs.

Now that's an useful way to deal with a bullet in a body – just dissolve it. Much less damage than removing it. Though I guess it's too much of a strain for the healers.
Hm, what Vardamir said makes sense; in such a situation trust would be a big issue between patient and healer. That was much more sensible than what happened with Glorfindel earlier.
Oh wow, Glorfindel isn't pulling any punches, is he? That was just the last straw, I guess; he's been under way too much stress, and the worry about what might happen with the Kings around is just too much. Must be a rather new experience for the Kings to be more or less thrown out of the house.
Anyway, I am glad Daeron is on the way to recovery and out of danger, from how it sounds. Glorfindel's idea to induce him into the Warrior Society after what he did to save Olwë surprised me, but it would certainly be quite the honour.
Now I wonder when Ingwë broke down last, if ever. Was probably a very long time ago. How ironic that he had to come to the Mortal lands only to experience such a shock! But I can see why he was more affected than his fellow Kings, particularly with that old memory in mind.
Poor Dave. It has to be a disturbing feeling when people pop into his office like that, and as if that's not bad enough, now he's got a lot of extra work to do. I really hope he is getting these people for all he can. Yes, I am feeling pretty vindictive right now; even if some may have just been carried away by the mob, they all had rather murderous intentions, so that's not an excuse in my eyes.

Atto,
I know you're not here to read this at your computer anymore, but maybe Lord Námo and Eru will let you see. Anyway, I'm very glad Daeron is all right, and I laughed at how Eönwë just turned up to see Michaelson (who thinks he ought to have become a shoe salesman. Poor Dave. It might be less exciting, but who knows, in Wiseman, maybe not.)
It's good to see Lopez is among those who will be rounding up Eönwë's list. I wonder just who he'll find.
Oh well, I'll discuss it at the Cliff House with our beloved family of readers, Atya. It's morning by me, so I'm in the kitchen whipping up some scrambled eggs and sourdough toast; there's butter, jam and orange marmalade, and there's extra eggs and wheat and rye bread for whoever likes those better. Waffle/pancake batter in the bowl and the griddle's warming up. The waffle iron's plugged in, and there's a bowl of grapes, oranges and apples on the table with the carafes of milk, someone start the coffee, hot chocolate and tea and we might be all set. It'd be interesting to see what our non-American friends contribute to Cliff House breakfast - I'm open to pretty much anything, I think :)
Anor is out and she seems happy enough to shine for me, so I'll dry my tears, be grateful to Eru and the Valar that Darren made it, and continue to keep watch for new chapters.
By the way, I have no idea if Ellie or Alassiel know, because you never answered me, Atya. Is Eönwë espoused or not?!
Tye-melin,

p.s. May I respectfully request that someone add translations of Elvish words at the bottom, or perhaps in a review, for those of us who need them? It was just another of Fiondil's thoughtful little touches, that I so appreciated. U can kind of guess at meanings, and it probably sounds like a stupid thing, but I was always so pleased when I had guessed right, or interested in learning something new when I hadn't.
On the other hand, I'm so grateful that someone took the time to post a chapter today. I didn't jump out of bed at the crack of dawn to look for a chapter, as I had been in the habit of doing (not a morning person, but Mondays and Fridays always gave me something to look forward to, a reward for getting up and going). I waited until evening to take a peek, actually, and almost couldn't bring myself to read. Then, looking at the reviews, I see the community is still here, and that is something.
I will bring roasted chicken, and roasted vegetables, and a good dry red wine, and an even better sweet white wine, as well as chocolate and pina coladas to the gathering at the Cliff House.
