· Chapter 41: The Brothers’ Tale Begins
Thank you for posting this. I always wondered about Gwyn and Gareth's earlier lives as I just couldn't see them working the land for centuries, so I knew thy must have had a military career.
I hope you're feeling much better soon.

Splendid chapter! Reading this, and having revisited other Fiondil stories, I must ask - is there anything he didn't know/couldn't do? Mediaeval history, languages (Tolkien and real world), SCA, mythologies Tolkien and other, ribbon embroidery (sorry, couldn't resist ;-) you name it.
I don't know, and (kind of) don't want to know, how finished Fiondil left these stories. If youall are working from rough drafts or outlines you are doing a wonderful job of staying in character (Fiondil's) and continuing to develop his characters and plot lines. Just saying!
Best wishes and profound thanks. Post if and when you can and take care.

Aha! So, Elen is most likely the one able to tell what they wish to know, although I wouldn't put it past this "priest" to know, too, but to insist on keeping the knowledge to himself to drive these uncomfortable beings away as well. As a strategy, I'd guess it ain't gonna work.

Hope you are feeling better! I don't mind the chapter going up today instead of yesterday - I barely noticed because I had such a busy day then. Today I needed something to perk me up. (I think we'll all need it, after today, no matter who wins. I wish we could have Gwyn or Gareth for President. Sigh.)
Anyway, it seems the brothers' adventure is getting interesting. So, Welsh Elves are they? Well, indeed :D But they aren't demons or soulless or...if there's anyone soulless in this chapter, I deem it to be the priest. What is his game? What does his wife (or so I assumed) know? I'm eagerly awaiting next week to find out!
Biggest hugs,
Kaylee

Oh, no. Just as I was settling in to hear the story of the ap Hywel brothers, the chapter ended. Cliffhanger! Glorfindel found a good way to get his questions answered without antagonizing the brothers. Now to wait until the story continues.

So the truth is out. I don't quite see the need for this secrecy... unless Alex would have refused to fight if he would have known. Loved the picture of Nate and Raguel both in dusters.

At last the beginning of the story will begin to fit in!
This was a good chapter, from Raguel's descriptions of the Ainur to Glorfindel's telling of his dream to Gwen and Gareth's explanations of the talisman.
I'm really looking forward to the next chapter.

So, now we actually come to the heart of the matter, the "talisman" and how Gareth and Gwyn came into possession of it. I'm sorry that it causes them discomfort to recall the details, but it is now necessary to tell the story so as to put Glorfindel's dream into its proper context. And apparently this is the time period when Daeron suffered so badly at the hands of Men. Alas for the suffering all knew.

I like Raquel. He is more matter of fact than the Valinorian Ainur. His explanation of the difference in the angelic powers was also enlightening.
Glorfindel's approach to questioning Gwen and Garreth is well thought out. He is getting the needed information without accusing anyone of being devious...which of course the brothers were not doing in the first place. A direct confrontation or questioning could have been interpreted as such. The revelation of the nightmare Glorfindel has been dealing with is not. In fact, this approach allows all to feel as if they are "helping" their "beloved golden leader".
As for Maedhros...he was the Feanorian that leapt into a chasm in the earth with a Silmaril. Will he get to Middle Earth? What about the Oath? Does it still hold power over the Feanorians even after death? What about Maglor who never died?
Can anyone say "cliff-hanger"?

White, at a barbeque? Derek you are an evil, evil little man!
Well, I think with all the explanations Alex is not as far back as Ron was afraid of, I think he will be O.K., or as O.K. as he is ever going to be.
Hm, I like the way Glorfi is bringing up his dream, not too confrontational but getting there never the less. Waiting for more Tales of the Crusades.

· Chapter 40: A Dream Revealed
Ooookay. When the previous chapter started, I'm sure most of the inhabitants of Edhellond, plus Alex and Derek, were ready to string Námo up if he dared show himself around Wiseman. At the end of the chapter there was a kiss-and-make-up session, and _this_ chapter start with Námo, in his inimitable fashion, dropping one of his patented bombshells - this particular explosive piece of news being Maedhros just about being ready to pirate Vingilot in order to travel to Wiseman, so that Alex can teach him unarmed combat. :-P And certainly it's news to Alex that he has a new gwador, I would have thought that would be a two-way street. In any case, I'm just about getting whiplash from all these turnabouts, and I'm sure Alex (and the denizens of Edhellond) is, too!
Not that I would complain if Maedhros somehow managed to get himself to Ennor. I found the glimpses we had of him were sooooo adorably cute! (Yes, really! I'm sure all the elves (definitey including Maedhros himself) would be aghast at this, though Fiondil would surely snicker gleefully!)
I see Glorfindel has decided to, ahem, discuss his dreams. No fireworks - yet - but it's possible that is saved for next week. It will surely be interesting to find out what the hidden talisman turns out to be. I suppose it _could_ be a Silmaril, as it was in the dream, though I doubt it. My personal guess is that it might be the Elessar, or _possibly_ one of the Palantíri; it will be interesting to see if I'm right about that.

Wow, a lot in one chapter. At least the brothers are finally coming clean about their back story. And some back story, slaves to Saladin. There is so much of history they could all tell us. ;-) So is the story arc going to switch to New York and the Adirondacks for real this time without all the evil pursuit we saw in the first few chapters? Fiondil certainly was leading us on a merry chase.

understand about the sickness. have not slept well for 8 days. chemo, maybe. maybe piggy backing on my usual issues. in any event, was plesently surprised to have the reconciliation chapter posted this evening even if it means i will be up past my optimal bed time.
as i said in my previous post, i still see raguel and alex having more in common than initially evident. definitely the one to help him as far as i can see, even at this early stage. love the going off to catch the parade. nice touch.

· Chapter 36: Raguel in Valmar
perhaps a major hint as to why raguel is the person to help alex -- “All right, Raguel, now that we’ve gotten all the pleasantries out of the way, why don’t you do what you do best, summon the Chayyoth and let’s get this over with. I’m sure you have places to go and people to destroy, so let’s not waste anymore of our time pretending you’re here on a visit among friends.”
seems like they both have had unpleasant jobs that they have done masterfully. perhaps he can help alex integrate himself well beyond this current bump in the road.

Well, that's an eye-opener and no mistake for our favorite ethir neth and his gwador, not to mention the Elves.
I've been lax in reviewing, for which I apologize, especially to Shemyaza. Beta Amiga nettenya, I hope your sister's condition improves and that you remain well yourself. You have my deepest sympathies. And a bit of empathy as well, for while my sister isn't ill, my step-grandfather, GrandBob as I call him, is in the hospital with a broken hip, facing surgery in the morning. So I feel I understand, at least a little. *hugs and prayers*
Anyway.
I have come to love Raguel. I admit I haven't discovered your other works beforehand, nettenya, so Atto Fiondil's chapters are my introduction to him. I didn't even know about him being listed among the Archangels, just as I didn't know about Uriel before Atya explained Erunaro. (I infinitely prefer his description of Erunaro/Uriel to the tv show Supernatural's...)
Anyway, the plot thickens. And it's Fourth of July. Wasn't that the day that things were supposed to begin going down in Glorfi's nightmare, or is my memory faulty? I may have to reread from the beginning...
I will echo (the majority of) my fellow Fiondilie. Please, keep us updated on your situation as you wish, so we may offer support, as much as we can.
This is the point where, were Atya still here, I'd go off rambling with questions about whether the ap Hywels would be bringing more SCA stuff in soon, telling him about my first SCA Bardic Feast, and how there were SCA royalty in attendance and they were some of the most amazing people I've met yet, besides the ones I've met here I mean. I just wish today's news about GrandBob hadn't beat me down some. *sigh*
Anyway, since it's late and I'm tired and stressed, I'll close this here and go to bed. But tomorrow I'll be back in the Cliff House with strawberries and cream bread that I'm planning to try making for the first time. I just hope it turns out well.
Love to you, nettenyar, fellow Fiondilie, and last but never least, Atto Fiondil, whether he has gone to be in the Presence or waits for us. May Eru bless and keep you all.

Whew. Glad that the truth has come out. Sounds like Alex is better already.
And Atar's sense of humor reminds me of an old comedy routine, where the comedian says something about God has to have a sense of humor, seeing how He created giraffes, and the platypus.

HOO BOY. I am glad that all worked out. I am sorry that you've been having so many difficulties lately (and I, unlike a certain review hereafter mentally referred to as the Nameless, don't mind knowing what is going on in your lives should you chose to share. I worry about my SoA family sometimes and want to make sure things are good. I also want to say a thing (because I hate that this keeps happening)
Nameless Unhelpful Reviewer Person,
I appreciate your need for an escape, truly I do. However, if you are unable to deal with Real Life explanations to inconsequential delays, might I suggest you find your escape among the published works or wait until this story says "complete" underneath? I'm pretty sure their are
filters for these things, if it means that much to you.
Be well :)
