Aw did you have to kill Bergil off, I really liked him? Anyway, so far it is a really great story. I like stories that involves a serious argument between Legolas and Aragorn because that is what makes a friendship even stronger and more interesting, because there is so much stories based on perfect friendship that you believe that they NEVER fight, but that only weakens the friendship. I loved the relationship between the blind woman and Bergil (Blinky) I really cracked myself during that hilarious conversation, it brought a little light into the dark story and thats what I appreciate, it also showed, that despite their differences, they would protect each other in any way they can. I would've been a similar friendship that Legolas and Gimli have. And I loved the part when Legolas remembers back when he was an elfling in standing in front of his father's throne and when Thranduil pulled out of thin air what Legolas had done, hee, hee, hee. Ooh, I'm dying to find out what is going to happen to the stone and if they are going to be captured by the Corsairs or they are going to save Gimli or are they ALL going to be captured well except of course Bergil who is in fact dead, OH WHY!? Why did you have to kill him off, I was really fond of him, he is the only one I know in the story who is still young and innocent at heart and who likes to speak his mind and is always cheerful, now it will be too solemn without the bickering between him and Blinky. Anyway I'll say peace out and don't keep us hanging PLEASE. J.G.E.

I know for a fact that I have reviewed this before, at another site (fanfiction, to be exact). But I re-read the piece and couldn't resist dropping another review, it was so good. Again. I actual think thet Bergil's death was more stirring the second time through, as if knowing it would happen made me pay more attention to the words. Gah...strange are the ways of me. I'm *still* waiting for an update. You know that your fic hasn't had a chapter added for a while when I (I!) can read it once, go three months, then read it *again* before the next update. I think Bitaliel is slowly turning into one of my favourite OC's of fandom. I hate to think what Bergil dying will make you do to her...*glares* I really enjoyed his last thoughts, morbid as that sounds. You conveyed them very realisticly, at least to me. I'm still not over the cliff-hanger from the end of chapter seventeen. I was desparate to know who it hit! I almost couldn't touch the 'Next' button. Almost. Update! Update! If not this fic, at least 'Cantrip.' I'm trying to not go insane while wriaking my brain for things that Halbarad will do to the poor, Elvishly-raised mortal who used to wash with *lavendar* soap... Till the post! (May it come with the speed of a 450 horsepower engine)

bryn! I just read the first chapter of this and it looks wonderful! I'm just worried since the last update was so long ago - will this be updated? I try not to read unfinished stories, so I'm trying to put off reading this. Still, my curiosity got to me enough to make me read Ch. 1. I'm going to continue to hold off, especially knowing the angst I'm in for with this story. But I'm hoping - begging? - that you update soon, or at least that this story will be finished some day (soon?)!

What a passsionate story you are writing. I just discovered it and am quite intrigued. I see you have not updated for some time. I hope that does not mean you have forgotten it or simply gotten bored because I certainly am not. That was really very sad what you did to Bergil. Its very powerful to be an author isn't? What horrible things do you have in store for our elf or ranger? Please try to update this story soon as I can think of little else.

(honeyed voice)Bryhyn, Bryyyyyhyhyn. GET GOING(kind of stentorian bellow). You know, I really like Cantrip, I love it, but I want to know what's happening in Marinius stiria. So, come on, do update! O.k.: bitte, bitte, bitte.

you must update!!!
Estel_Mi_Olor · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 18: One Shall Pass
YOU KILLED BERBIL!!! You deserve much torture. If this story does not turn out well, I shall come to inflict them upon you. Sincerely, Morgoth
Estel_Mi_Olor · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 15: Two If By Sea
Not funny. Nazgul #5 shrieks in agreement. What is Legolas doing? Ye gods and Gimli!!! What is he doing? Argh those corsairs are going to hurt him. I blame this all on the Valar. If they had never inflicted sea-longing on the Eldar this never would have happend. Hmph. But mostly it's the seas fautl. Ah yes, for spewing the accrused jewel forth to begin with. Cheers.
Estel_Mi_Olor · 26 January 2004 · Chapter 14: Ask Nothing In Return
I'm sorry I haven't reviewed the other chapters!!! I just got so caught up in the story... and now Legolas has gone. It really isn't fair that the Valar torture him so. And poor Gimli. So shunned. At least he had the sense to accompany the Elf. Legolas wouldn't have lasted a week in his condition. Bitaliel amuses me. She's so funny. I don't recall, how exactly did Halbarad die? And nice tying that flashback in with Cantrip. Keep writing! Cheers!
Estel_Mi_Olor · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 8: The Pain of Duty
OMG, why did Mortsdil have to find Tegiron? Why? Why did he have to be the Spawn of Hell? Ye Gods, Legolas is getting himself into an awful mess. A huge, huge mess, that makes even Morgoth quake in fear. *Am hiding under my bed* But I must continue reading!!! Cheers!
Estel_Mi_Olor · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 7: Adrift
Thank you Legolas!!! You are the savior of Gondor and the world! Arwen is your Princess! Together you shall save Aragorn from his folly!!! (This is a chant, by the way,) I thought Legolas would be overtaken by the jewel. Thank you. And thank you for letting them realize what it was. Ah, I cannot wait to see what will happen nxt! Cheers!
Estel_Mi_Olor · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 6: A Precursory Storm
OMG the woman gounged out her own eyes? *Deep breath* How horrible!!! Ride Legolas, ride!!! You must save your foolish king from his own folly. Ye Gods, what next?
Estel_Mi_Olor · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 5: Renewed Acquaintances
Ai Aragorn!!! What is he doing? Stop him!!! Gees, just because Legolas is coming to warn him, that fool decides to ignore his wife's warning and look at the Silmaril. Ai Aragorn!!! Can't write, must read!!!
Estel_Mi_Olor · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 4: Ancient Memories
Wow that was great. But I thought Morgoth...No you're right. He was exiled. Wow. This is getting huge. The Valar should be aware of this. And that man, Morts somebody. He is the Spawn of Hell. Meanwhile Aragorn and Arwen are listening to a woman ranting about hot pies? *Good grief* But Bitaliel? Wow that woman is raving. That scares me. I'm terrified. Please don't hurt Legolas. Cheers.

Estel_Mi_Olor · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 3: A Fish Out of Water
YAY Pirates!!! I love pirates, they always spice up a story. And these corsairs are up to something if secrecy is so important to them. Hmm...Interesting. I must ask you, how do you write a story like this? I mean, do you plan a ton of stuff beforehand or it on the spot? I tried starting a story, but it was so boring I put myself to sleep. Good grief. Well cheers and keep writing!
Estel_Mi_Olor · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 2: Whispers on the Night Wind
Argh sorry about that previous blank review. But I knew it was a Silmaril!!! That woman is crazy. Totally crazy. Poor Legolas...I foresee angst. And what's this story that you can't write angst? I'm torn, crying, etc. This is very angsty. Too much in fact. Argh, I must keep reading!!
Es · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 2: Whispers on the Night Wind
Estel_Mi_Olor · 25 January 2004 · Chapter 1: A Gift from the Sea
OMG it's the lost Silmaril. The one that Morgoth did not find. Ye Gods! What will this do to Legolas? No, she cannot let Aragorn have it. Ai, congratulations. Now I'm in a tizzy about this story. *Must read*. I hope you have some sort of lawyer???
Ithilien · 16 January 2004 · Chapter 18: One Shall Pass
At last, a chapter. Two actually. But what have you done? Bryn! You killed off the kid! No!!!!! Okay, well, I suppose you had your reasons. Bummer though. I liked the kid. Gosh this(these) chapter(s) moved quickly. I almost had trouble following everything that happened, and for a minute there I was wondering why the pirates didn't just take the Silmaril from Legolas. But then they did, so I was appeased. And then I began to wonder why Legolas didn't fight harder. But he did, and again I was appeased. But then the Mortsdil quelled his spirit somehow, and I grew totally confused. What did he say that stopped Legolas from struggling? Was it something about Gimli? Where is Gimli? Still being keel-hauled? Can he survive that? And is the death of Bergil meant as a sacrifice to Morgoth? Is Legolas being handed over already? But what about Gimli? Shouldn't someone be doing something about Gimli? Who's going to rescue Gimli? Or Legolas even? Morgoth is not such an easy contender you see. Okay, Bryn, I know you are eager to get on with your other stuff, but you can't just leave us hanging there like that. You are going to provide more soon, aren't you? Aren't you?
fliewatuet · 10 January 2004 · Chapter 18: One Shall Pass
Nooo! Not Bergil! How could you let him end like that! But even a King was not capable of dismissing Death. That was heartbreaking, really! But, though I'd rather see Bergil return to Minas Tirith his former light-hearted self, I can understand that things like his death are sometimes a necessary part of a story, painful as it is. For Aragorn, Bergil's death must evoke dark memories of Halbarad's untimely passing, especially since Bergil reminded him so much of his former friend. Which makes it all the more painful. Furthermore, I cannot get quite rid of the feeling, that Bergil's blood served to 'feed' Mortsdil, or rather Morgoth through him. And the prospect that the good guys face are rather grim: Gimli is, as far as I remember, being keel-hauled, Legolas is taken captive, I doubt that Aragorn and Bitaliel are free to leave that cursed beach other than in Mortsdil's company, and, worst of all, Mortsdil has the Silmaril. fliewatuet
Orophins Dottir · 10 January 2004 · Chapter 17: And I Must Follow, If I Can
Your depiction of Gimli truly moved me. What a warrior is the short son of Mahal! I love when writers invest Gimli with the dignity and pride he deserves. His friendship with the elf is one of my favorite aspects of the book. The description of Legolas in the literal grasp of the sea was fascinating. Well done! I shall now go re-read the "Ents of Wrath" to cheer up. (A friend and I have started to refer people to that story for "depression therapy". I giggle whenever I think about it.) Orophins Dottir · 10 January 2004 · Chapter 18: One Shall Pass
"But even a King was not capable of dismissing Death." You have killed Bergil. I am in awe. Methinks, you will hear about this one, Bryn. The only braver thing I have read is someone who killed off Frodo. (For my birthday, she is going to off Bilbo! Shhh! Never liked Bilbo. Bothered my liege and caused me headaches.) Seriously, the scene was effectively written. I knew I was in deep trouble by just the simple allusion to the look of horror in Legolas' eyes. Aragorn's fear was also quite effective. And, I think Bergil just might have mused about how odd people's faces looked while they were in the throes of death. Chilling. BTW, I could find you a safe house to hide in if the need arises! Forgot to ask in Cantrip review--Would you send me the E/Gilraen by email? Thanks. Humble Scribe to his Majesty Thranduil
