Eirinn Leigh · 6 January 2016 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

I can't wait to read more of these; they are simply delightful!

Author's reply

I'm glad you're enjoying these tales. I love writing about the gentle, 'lighter side' of Middle-earth.

PSW · 1 December 2015 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

Yay Pippin! :-) These were fun! I never thought about it, but surely w all those hobbits around *somebody* was surely behind him. :-) And of course, why not Pippin...?

Author's reply

What fun to focus just on Pippin (or any of the hobbits). I learn so much about the characters by writing about them.

PSW · 1 December 2015 · Chapter 4: Maybe it's the Accent

Ha! Makes me want to hug him and give him my dessert... :-P

Virtuella · 8 October 2008 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

A very original little story. Yes, I can imagine this episode happening.

WhitewolfofDarkness · 29 September 2007 · Chapter 5: Minas Tirith: Kitchen Duty

teeeheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee1 pippin rockes!

Author's reply

I agree! :)

demeter d · 3 February 2007 · Chapter 4: Maybe it's the Accent

I agree, Billy Boyd with his lovely, not exactly English lilt was a perfect choice. I have always thought there was someething rather Highland Scots or even Irish about the Tooks. The Tookish side is blamed for Bilbo's wild streak. The more famous Tooks from Shire history were the ones known for having adventures. Unconventional, a bit rebellious. Nicely done.

Author's reply

Thank you, Demeter. I don't think many of us would go back and re-cast Pippin; Billy was such a wonderful choice. :D

demeter d · 3 February 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

How delightful! Just exactly as it could have been in the book. The beginning of a relationship between them which must have deepened even more when they left for Gondor alone. A nice look inside Pippin's head.

Author's reply

Thank you! It's such a compliment to think this scene "could have been". The hobbits spent so long in Rivendell, and we know so little about that time. It's such fun to try to fill in some of the blanks.

Bodkin · 27 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

Some secrets just aren't for sharing! Not surprising at all that Gandalf takes an interest in the young Took. Or that said Took ends up at the far side of the world at his cousin's side.

Author's reply

No, not surprising at all! I like imagining that Gandalf has been keeipng such a close watch on 'his' hobbits, and being constantly surprised and impressed by them.

Antane · 23 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

Pippin keep a secret? "Who are you and what have you done with my Pippin?" :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

*giggles* There's more to this hobbit than meets the eye...

Baggins Babe · 22 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

For our talkative little Took to keep this a secret he must have realised that this was very important. I love Pippin/Gandalf conversations - the usually grumpy wizard is a grandfatherly type with our favourite hobbits, and Pip just enjoys asking questions. And here they are united by their love for Frodo. Beautiful

Author's reply

Even when Gandalf is grumpy with Pippin, we all know he doesn't mean it. Our hobbits and wizard are all very responsible, but they show it in different ways. united by their love for Frodo... Awwwww. That's so lovely.

Pearl Took · 22 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

I like this! I like that you have Pip knowing about the Ring so early and I like this: “No, I see that you will not,” Gandalf said thoughtfully. “How interesting. Good night, Peregrin.” Most mysterious :-)

Author's reply

Thanks, Pearl. I think it gives a plausible (if AU) reason for Gandalf to encourage Elrond to let Pippin and Merry accompany Frodo south. It's fun to imagine little scenes like this.

Larner · 22 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

Aha! So that's how Pippin became aware of the Ring, is it? And love how he and the wizard share confidences now, over Frodo's sickbed. Bless all three of them in the room.

Author's reply

It's fun to find "hidden scenes" like this. And yes, bless 'em all.

Lindelea · 22 January 2007 · Chapter 6: Trouble Brewing

Awww. "This one's different." I quite agree!

Author's reply

And obvious at such a young age! *grins*

Lindelea · 22 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

Awww. I *love* it when you write about Pippin! (I can just see him under the cake table... good spot to be. Lovely things to nibble on, right at hand if one should get peckish whilst listening to Birthday Speeches.) I love the last bit, too. I bet Pippin and Merry *would* have gone all the way to the Crack of Doom, if the Orcs hadn't taken them at Parth Galen.

Author's reply

I just love uncovering the infinite layers of courage, devotion, innocence, practicality, and joy surrounding these particular hobbits.

SlightlyTookish · 22 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

I have to thank you again here for writing me such a sweet story. It's been so long since I read a Pippin-and-Gandalf tale, and this one brightened up my day so much. *hugs you*

Author's reply

And what a pleasure to write this for you! *big hobbity birthday hugs*

harrowcat · 22 January 2007 · Chapter 7: Pippin's Secret

So THAT's why Gandalf supports Pippin and Merry when Elrond ants to send them back to the Shire. Brilliant Shirebound.

Author's reply

At last we know the reason! *giggles* Glad you enjoyed this.

harrowcat · 17 June 2006 · Chapter 6: Trouble Brewing

How did I miss this delightful little snippit of a wandering hobbit? All I did was to drop in to your page for a coffee break filler instead of a biscuit and found this by chance. Much better for me!

Author's reply

Tookish delights! A wonderful snack with your coffee. Thank you so much, harrowcat. :D

Larner · 10 May 2006 · Chapter 6: Trouble Brewing

Yes, I do believe they are indeed in for trouble. Wee Pippin is so cute!

Author's reply

Thank you! I have such a weakness for wee!hobbits.
