Awards Information
There are a growing number of awards for Tolkien
fanfiction, and many of the stories and authors at Stories of Arda have
been nominated. Below are listed the awards, links to the hosting or sponsoring
site, and a description of the award. Please note that Stories of Arda
does not sponsor any awards and is not affiliated with any of the sponsoring
sites. Warning: Some of these sites may link to stories containing
slash or adult material.
Mithril Awards
Who can nominate: Anyone
Who can vote: A panel of judges will shortlist and then vote on stories in each category. There are voter's choice categories as well, where everyone can vote.
Status:
Voting is still ongoing for the 2005 awards.
What they are about:
'The Mithril Awards were established to honour excellence in fiction, poetry and critical essays relating to The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion and other works by JRR Tolkien. All material freely available on the web in English is eligible for awards, regardless of rating, genre, subject matter, category and source (book or movie), with the exception of actor fic/RPS.'
MEFAwards
Who can nominate:
Anyone who is a member of the MEFAwards Yahoo Group
Who can vote:
Anyone who is a member of the MEFAwards Yahoo Group or a nominated author.
Status:
2004 and 2005 winners are posted.Nominations are complete for 2006, but voting is still
ongoing.
What they are about:
The Middle-Earth Fanficiton Awards seek to recognize good fanfiction set
in
the Middle-Earth created by JRR Tolkien. Unlike most fanfiction contests,
the MEFAs are comment-based. The longer comment you provide, the more
points you earn for the story or author. Any member may nominate up to
twenty pieces and vote for as many pieces as they like. We accept
nomination of any drabble, poem, story, or essay rated G-R. WIPs and
self-nominations welcome.

What they are about:
The story of Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and Arwen Undómiel, the elf maiden who forsook her people and the destiny of her kind for love of him, is one of Tolkien's greatest and most underrated masterpieces. The Aníron Awards are a celebration of cheap replica rolex watches that story and the best works of fan fiction that are inspired by it .
