Grey shores, ships reflect The grief of those who remain No those who depart...
Save one wounded soul Who leaves behind all he loves To seek healing Westward...
Shire life lost, tears shed Replaced by a longing for Sauron’s evil One Ring...
A child of his own Ne’er to run Bag End’s hallways Shadows fleeing joy...
Gamgees faces lost Faces he cannot foresee Ne’er the less he loves...
Embracing loved ones For one last time he whispers, “I gave all, my friends.”
He indeed gave all This Frodo Baggins a hero But not to his people...

Ditzy reviewers Spare us all some trouble please Read the books right now!
********* This haiku was written out of the frustrating annoyance of the fact some movie critics obviously have not read the books and therefore criticize Peter Jackson for his so-called 'multiple endings' to "The Return of the King".

Soft, downy gold locks Tiny fragile fingers grip Uncle Frodo’s hand
Frodo gasps in awe Cradling the tiny daughter Her parents beaming
His time is limited He knows there is no escaping He must leave his home
His sadness won’t rob His joy of Elanor’s birth Of feeling love for her
He hears her laughter Tiny peals of giggles gay A smile lights his face
His last months are eased His grave wounds are abated By this maidchild’s smile
Quiet tears are wept On the morning when last he Craddles Elanor
But he has peace with The knowledge she will grow up In Shire’s safety
Giving the babe to Rose He takes Strider’s reins from Sam Turning to forever leave
Mother and babe watch The two forms descend the Hill Then seek first breakfast...

Vivid memories Merry, Pippin, Elanor Were their births for him
Merry surprised them -- Esmeralda was "barren"! Brandybucks rejoiced.
Pippin came too soon Almost died at arrival Love kept him with them
Elanor chased back The dark shadows from his life Hope blossomed in him

Raindrop tears fall down “You don't mean that. You can't leave!” My words are in vain.
I know Mr. Frodo Cannot stay for he is fading Shadows have fallen
Shadows have fallen And he is lost to us all No hope left for him
So go Mr. Frodo With the Elves and seek healing I cannot provide
Go Mr. Frodo go Know that your Sam will follow You someday westward
When all is said, done I will seek my rest with you My truest friend
I assumed Frodo Would always be in my life Just like Merry dear
How could I know that A thrice-cursed Ring would wound And take him away
Frodo dear never Was the same after the Ring Scarred his gentle soul
Now at the sea shore I face loosing him Trying to come to terms
Gently, he hugs me Whispering, “Please don’t weep, Pip.” While wiping my tears
“How can I not?” as I meet his eyes one last time Cousin dear lost
We watch as the grey Ship carries Frodo away Forever from us
Clinging to Merry We turn from the horizon With our tears falling
We will return home And by living our lives full We honor Frodo
