Disclaimer: Lord of the Rings is owned by J.R.R. Tolkien, his family, etc. Not me. I'm only dabbling my unworthy fingers in his magical world. Credit: www dot Tuckborough dot net, wikipedia. The Sea
The white gull’s cry pierces like the sweetest of blades, wounding delight for fertile lands which bore the Greenleaf. Shedding joy like blood upon soil that has ever known the soft tread of one who loves it above all else. Sundered am I now from that for which I have fought. And slain. Even though I yet walk beloved earth, fighting the very call that will supplant the desire to remain, ever the gulls cry louder, ever the blade cuts deeper, a siren call which thrills the very heart it seeks to wound. Alas! for me! The Sea! The Sea! To the shore I must now go; abandoning all for which I have fought and all goodness my kin have wrought. Greenwood, Great once more, mightiest among forests! Ithilien, Moon-land, Jewel of the West! No more for me the delight of heart and mind! Forever now a memory you shall be as I pass to the Sea. To the Sea! The Sea! Forever a memory you must be. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Author’s Note: I’venever attempted an elvish song before, and rarely a song/poem of this ilk, where it‘s supposed to be deep and arty (I usually write the fairly easy hobbity-rhyming kind) which is probably blatantly obvious now you’ve read this. It may not be quite my forte, but I thought I’d give it another try and see what happened … *sheepish grin* Kara’s Aunty ;) |
