Faramir held the bridle of Boromir's steed with one hand and tightly grasped his brother's forearm in farewell. Any remaining distress over Boromir's claiming of the quest was forgotten in the face of his imminent departure. The puzzling dream to seek Imladris and a broken sword had come first and often to Faramir; Boromir had dreamed but once yet took immediate action. He would obey the dream's command to go. "Farewell, my brother!" Faramir said, looking up into Boromir's face, committing it to memory. Boromir gripped his brother's arm in return, gazing intently back at Faramir. "I shall return," Boromir promised. "Until then, remember me well. I love you, Faramir!" This story was inspired by Catherine Karina Chmiel's artwork called Seek for the Sword. |
